Morning everyone! Coffee is on, come and get it. Raining here this morning, and the temp is 45. Not too bad.
Goodness Bon, sure hope you get him treatment first thing Monday!
Hey Synda. Long time no see! So sorry to hear about your Mom having a stroke. We will send lots of thoughts and prayers your way! Been there, and still living with dad that had multiple strokes back in 2001. Immediate Dr visits is the key, but even then the damage may be permanent! Sending you lots of ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))
Please keep us posted.

Thanks taters, and Good Morning everyone!
rough night for him. he finally started taking 1/2 a pill every 45 mins. to hour. not good, but he says it's that only way to prevent the absolute agony part of when the pills wear off and it's not time for another one. I finally sonked out around 1am. not much of a nurse am I...but he got more sleep, just in wee doses.
There's one kind of infection if he gets it and it goes into his blood, it will kill him. I think he needs to be in the hospital! p&t for you both!
Our prayers to you all...
((((Synda)))) so glad to see you back, we've missed ya!!
Sage is here today and we have a lot of projects to get finished today...everyone have a great afternoon.
Prayers always going up for everyone. I watched a "Touched by an Angel" movie last night, oh how I loved that program. I think it was on the Hallmark Chanel. I only get that chanel when Dish decides to give it to us for a month. Always very good movies and this time a year some very special ones. About the only time I really sit down to watch some TV.
No rain today, the sun is out, sky is blue and lots of white fluffy clouds. I can live without rain for a couple days now. I can almost see my sweet peas growing.. Still putting off baking and I do want to make some goodies for a few people.
God's blessings on all my dear friends in DG's.
Sistahs, he's worse. I've called the dentist again. now calling our regular doc.
Bon so sorry, sure hope you get this dealt with.....I can almost never get my DH to go to a dentist. He is allergic to so many antibiotics. One dentist gave him some stuff that made him so sick we almost ended up at the hospital...he quit taking the meds and got bertter immediately. Will keep you guys in my prayers.
Hey all!!! Sorry I haven't been on......been working my PT job and crafting for my mom for Xmas since she threatened me if I spent any $$ on her for Xmas....
So, what's new?? Tell me all the goods. I hope that you are all safe and sound this holiday season.
Hey Stacey, so glad to see you here. So you got a job? Please tell us what your doing.
Off to bed everyone. Please stay warm, and sleep tight!
Hello Tink!!! I have been thinking about you this week and wondering how everything was going with the PT job. Nothing wrong with making gifts--that is what this family has decided to do this year also. BTW, how far will Janice's new home be from where you live? Her condo sounds really nice.
Been out another day with son and his family just going nothing special. Funny about how much fun I can have with no schedule--just doing things on a whim!!! We all decided we needed a milk shake so off we went--I can not remember the last milk shake I had so this was a really special treat.
Still having rain although it is much lighter than it has been but the fog is horrible. Worse than "pea soup" about 4:30 and has gotten heavier the later it has gotten. Not the type weather I want to be driving around in.
Well this lady is tired so off to bed she goes. Tink, don't stay away so long!!
Hello everyone..
we're back to living in 2 houses now. Thought Murdock's improving, but he had another fall. As a man who's not fully recovered from his stroke, and now cancer.. all the chemo treatments affecting his strength.
You all know, he's hardly mobile, and now it's worse. Having to try diffuse MIL's anxieties and his insecurities.
So, sorry if I'm not around....
Happy here to see Synda and Stacey. Miss you both tremendously. Synda, so sorry to read of your mum's stroke.
We'll add her to our prayer list, won't we LK?
Maid M., I envy you having such a great rapport with your family, and now your daughter. You're one terrific mother, grandmother and great friend! Lucky we are that know you ;)
Bon, please keep us inform on Randall. Will drop to my knees in a while, and pray for us all that need...
Too tired to stay up... I'll bid you all a good night.
Trisha, hugs... I'm coping well this time ^_^
synda, i know how it is when sub. is up we are in trouble.lol. glad your back..
Everyone be well, much happinesss..Prayers for all the needs.
My PT job is at Michael's-just seasonal, but maybe will be more permanent until I can get something else.....
At first it wasn't going very good, one of the supers was a bit harsh and at 23 was far too mean really...so I said a nonchalant comment which sparked her to ask questions and I told her the truth-that she is very demeaning when she speaks to people. Now we get along like 2 peas in a pod. We actually have a bit in common which is nice. When I first started, everyone was in serious need of a personality. But I came in every day with my usual chipper attitude and now they seem to be loosening up quite a bit.
Auntie M-mom's new condo is about 50 mins for me. I LOVE it and helped her pick it out. She is also letting me decorate the guest room (which will really probably be mine most of the time anyway).
I have to do Xmas cards and finish cleaning tomorrow. DH has been having a Mon night poker game with some cool guys he works with. Then my mom will be here next Monday and I am STOKED!!! I can't wait. Seeing her once a year is not even close to being enough. We are so close that we need more time together....We'll have 3 days, then she goes to my grandma's for a few days and when she comes back will bring my fave uncle (who was about my only male role model when I was a kid) along with his wife and my cousin. I am so excited. That is all the Xmas pressie I need really. Anything else is just a bonus....I wish I could bottle a small piece of her to keep all the time. No matter how old I get I still want to have my mother's shoulder to cry on when I need it and see the way her face breaks into a large smile when I do something wonderful. The support is something I miss terribly. Not just over the phone, but physical.
I know that probably makes no sense at all.....but oh well, just my feelings pouring out..
Good to see Synda and Stacey back with us.
(((Jaye))) take care, we love ya girl.
Prayers to all of you and have a good night.
Jaye, sending prayers for Kel's and your family and thinking about all the time. Just remember to take care of yourselves as we need you also.
Tink, I understand perfectly what you were saying and glad you could verbalize it! Oh do keep us posted on development with Janice's condo--it did sound very nice and I could tell she was excited. Hang in there--everyone should have your "bubbly" personality!!!!!!!
A list a mile long to be done today so guess I should get started.
BTW Bon, how is Randall? Please, please updates us.
Morning everyone! Hey Marion, glad to see you also. Everyone is getting so busy this time fo year, but please pop in when you can.
I have added Bon's hubby to the list as well as made sure Synda in on it also for her Mom.
Coffee is on, and we have some home made oatmeal raisin cookies to go with.
Oh I have been keeping up but it is difficult to type with this dumb brace on my hand. Need to rest my wrist from so much use with the rotary cutter and other jobs.
Oh pass the cookies please.
making chocolate covered cherries, peanut butter fudge, sugar spiced nuts, and peanut butter cups today
Kathy - I have a recipe for chocolate covered cherries, too........ should have done them awhile ago (2 weeks in the fridge!)
I did get 5 gift baskets made Saturday & Sunday though.....
One's for Bob to take to his bowling Christmas party on Tuesday, one's for our neighbour who's looked after our cat a few times (going to make it "from Baby" lol)
and I'm not sure who to make the other 3 to. Hard to give to one, and not another, y'know.......
I'm going to look at dollar stores, and maybe Michael's to see about good deals on the wicker baskets for them. Usually too big, expensive, or heavy for my needs. After all, small boxes of cookies and candies don't need an iron tank to hold 'em lol
Got a beautiful cross for a friend of ours at the church. She's a lovely older lady who lost her sister a few weeks ago, and could use a "pick-me-up" f'sure................
Wish I could get more in the Christmas "traditional" spirit though......
I'm definitely in the church's busy calendar, but need the spirit more.
Went to an assisted living lodge on Sunday and our choir sang for them.
Some of the residents were asking "is this all the choir you have?". 3 of our # were missing because of the weather/snow and that only left us with 6, plus our organist.
They said they thought we needed more bass. We had one bass, and one tenor (my DH). When we have a full compliment, we only have 10 anyway.......
On Sunday, one of our choir (he's in a band and has been for 30 years) told our organist that if we don't have more lively, traditional, non-churchy music on the evening of the 20th, we're going to "lose" our audience before we really get into the program. He thinks "o come, o come Emmanuel" is being sung too "draggy" and he's right, but our organist left the church after coffee in tears.......
She's caregiver to her mom who just broke her arm on Thurs, and her father was just put in a senior's home so they're dealing with that........

...I am sitting here "drooling" over all the goodies being made!! LOL
I was sitting here wondering why I wasn't in the Christmas spirit...... geeze louise...... I know why, but I go "into denial" every year.....
My father passed away on Dec 12th, 27 years ago, and we were so close. I know it may seem like a long time, and I should 'get over it' but every year at this time, I find I have to shake it off and it takes about a week total (days on each side of the date).
Maybe now that I've addressed it yet again, I can get on with the season...... I surely hope so. Haven't done any housecleaning, and want to invite people over Christmas Dinner, but can't get up the "ooomph" to do so. Don't know what day we'll celebrate Christmas, and haven't figured out what to get DH for a present......
~Susan~
My dr. told me my depression at this time of year is because of the shorter days with less sunlight! I think he's right!
BTW---got in touch with Toys-for-tots for Emily, so she IS having a nice Santa visit!
Awe Susan, sorry to hear you lost your dad at this time of year. Don't think of it as missing him, but getting into the spirit for him. Celebrate for him!
Please pass along the recipe for the chocolate covered cherries! Do you need a mold for them?
Marion, sorry to hear your hand is giving you problems.
Later
LK
Awe, Audrey, that is good news. There are so many programs to ask for help, like churches, salvationn army... Glad to hear she is on the list for a nice Christmas.
No mold for the choco cherrries.
I'll try to remember to post the recipe when I get home.
Basically, you make a fondant, form it around the cherry, put them in the fridge, and then when they're ready, cover with chocolate. Only the best chocolate will do lol
OK, I have to ask what a fondant is?
it's a bit like fudge in texture and consistancy, but chewier and not chocolate. I've never actually made Fondant, but have heard of it for years. you can mold it, can't you?
sorry, I can't read much, too tired. could not sleep worrying about Randall. I got hold of our doctor's emergency line. He was taking too much tylenol in the drugs and I was worrying sick because he'd almost stopped peeing. We were told he could add naproxen (Aleve) to the hydrocodone, and they gave him Augmenten instead of amoxicillin (sp?). He is doing better. Bless ya'll for keeping him in your prayers. I'm still pushing anything he can swallow without hurting, especially liquids. Have him drinking diluted cranberry juice, too. He slept most of yesterday when he wasn't crying. He is able to urinate now, and was actually trying to work this morning to keep his mind off the pain. The dentist isn't going to do anything until tomorrow because of the infection.
Yes it can be molded, shaped if it is similar mixture like is used to decorate cakes. No, I don't make it but my daughter does sometimes when she gets a wedding cake order. Her sideline hobby. Gasp! Susan why of course only the best DARK chocolate will do. LOL
Susan, I can relate to your depression this time of year as yesterday (13th) my Dad has been deceased for 27 years also. It wasn't until late last night I figured out what was bothering me this week--mainly because I was going by Monday, Tuesday, etc instead of the actual dates. It hit hard when I ask Kim the actual date last night. Duh--blond what can I say--well grey anyways.
Marion - I won't say "depressed" (btdt), but I was feeling down.
Oh my........ I was wrong - it was 1985.
I went to a company Christmas party the night before, because people told me I had to.
I felt terrible when I found out, afterwards. I think that was the worst part.
BUT, I evenutally picked myself up and got on with life.
My dad always loved Christmas, and so do I. I just need to remember why I feel down, and then once I put a name to it, I'm fine.
Hey Bon, glad to hear Randall is feeling a bit b etter. yes you have to watch out for the tylenol. Too much of it is not good for the liver or kidneys!
Why do most men have to be so stubborn when it comes to the Dr.!
with his kidney stone history (like, all the time!) I'm really worried when he can't pee and already in pain elsewhere. They say kidney stone pain is worse than childbirth.
I have never had one, but my oldest son has had three of them, and they are not fun. It is like trying to force a sandburr through the pipes!
LK - here's that Chocolate Covered Cherries recipe:
LONG STEMMED CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRIES
about 60 maraschino cherries with stems, drained
1/4 cup rum
FONDANT
2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
(not evaporated)
4 teaspoons light corn syrup
41/2 to 5 cups icing sugar
COATING
1 1/2 pounds chocolate coating compound or chocolate
Combine cherries and rum in a bowl and allow to soak at least 2 hours. Drain on paper towels
In medium bowl combine condensed milk and corn syrup, blend well. Add icing sugar gradually, stirring until mixture forms stiff, smooth dough. If all icing sugar cannot be stirred in, knead mixture and sugar on counter until smooth dough forms. (the food processor does a good job of this)
Wrap small amount of fondant around each cherry to cover completely, chill for about a half hour or until fondant is firm.
Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. Melt chocolate over hot water stirring constantly.
Holding by stem, dip chilled cherries into coating making sure to cover completely. Place on waxed paper lined sheets until cool. Let stand several days in a cool place to allow fondant to liquefy, do not refrigerate.
Store in tightly covered container in a cool cupboard.
Thanks for the recipe Susan. Sounds pretty easy!
Two questions, is the icing sugar, powdered sugar, and what brand of chocolate do you use?
well, I'm done for the night. Trying to find something Randall can eat, I made chicken souffee for dinner - my first ever attempt at a souffee. Well, not quite there, no pouf. but tasty. was hoping it would be easier to chew, but it was a but rubbery.
so already made the chicken and broth for Chicken and dumplings tomorrow. That he can put in his mouth and swallow. He's feeling better because drugs are working now. But I'm done in by worrying. He's going to try heating up the cherry pie and putting ice cream on it. He's a great snacker, and probably 1/2 the calories he consumes are from snacks. All he can have now is broth or juice. But we've got his pipes working again! pushing water water water. I'm too tired for pie, on my way to bed.
sweet dreams, sweet sistahs. and thank you for all your prayers. I can feel them calming my fears.
Audrey such a great picture!
Oh those Cherries sound good!!
Have a good night Bonnie and give Randall a hug for us...glad to hear he is feeling a bit better!
Hey Bon, so glad to hear he is feeling a little better, and consuming liquids! Keep pushing the water.
Audrey, that wiener dog is so precious! Looks like he is really happy.
Good night everyone!
First one up makes the coffee please?
