Morning All,
Well are getting rain instead of snow. But it is a very cold rain, it is not melting the snow very fast at all. Maybe tomorrow when we get the big rain it will melt the snow. Still making Barbie clothes. Cutting a bunch out so I can clear off work table to make more candles starting tomorrow. Steve is coming up tonight and bringing movies, he needs to get away from woman that he is doing work for she is not being nice. She is trying to controll him and telling him what he can and can not do. They used to be a couple then were roomates for years until last year. I told him I'd beat her up for him but he won't let, lol. Then his mother is suffering from dementia, insists that today is Sunday and he is to take her to his brother's house for nephew's b-day. She went out driving the other day and got lost. So he is looking for someone to live-in to take care of her. He wants to keep her in her own home for as long as possible and not a long term facility. Thank the Lord my mom has all her marbles and is healthy. I'm not ready to deal with something like that I have too many of my own problems to take care of right now.

Ok gotta get to work here..................TTYL

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks all!!! My dad always said that it was "Better over the hill than under it!" We are going to dinner with Sage and the kids. Since Sage has been spending several weekends a month with her mother I have discovered that I miss her on Friday's....I got used to having her every Friday! Then we are going to see about finally getting the tree up and maybe baking Dog Cookies for Porter!!

No, I won't be getting another bird ....the Cat and the Dog are enough work these days...any future bird would have to be tame and out of the cage a lot, and that won't happen with Ms. Meow in residence.

A lot to get done this afternoon, you all have a wonderful afternoon!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you so much LK! How's your knee today?

Happy Birthday Great Aunt Trisha!! Wishing you a very good and memorable birthday. Treat yourself to a good 'day off'!
Welcome to the world, Macy Noel. Love that middle name :D

Linda, I do hope Ladybug found her way home. She's a beautiful Calico... I know you're missing the daily rituals with her.

You're lucky, Max can fix the truck, Donna.. Saved you a bundle on repair costs. Kel is helpless in that field.

Hey there Judy! I promise not to call tomorrow, so you won't be stopped in the middle of 'important' prep work! But anytime is a good time to just yak with you!
Thanks for the update on Deborah. I can see her hovering over her Mama.. just glad to have her home with her for the holidays.
Possum has become my little kitty-pup. She trails me around the house.
Happy Birthday Julie :D

As for Maid M.. she does the disappearing act well! She's celebrating her oldest DGD birthday today.

Cindy, you are right....Not an easy thing to do, taking care of dementia or alzheimer victims. He will need lots of patience, and he's doing the right thing if looking for a lived in helper for his mama.

Kel's father fell this morning.
You are all aware of what that entails....back to limited time at home.....

Those of you affected by snow, please keep warm and stay safe.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Jaye sorry about Mr. Kel's father, prayers folr healing. blessings..

Raleigh, NC

Prayers for Kel's dad, Jaye. Know this is hard on him. And

Happy Birthday Trisha!

about to sit back and read from, looking like 1.5 threads back! Y'all been busy.

So have I! woke up to frozen ground this morning. Not that common here in December. COLD, but dry thus far.

Our Active Older Adults exercise class luncheon was today. the YMCA provided the room, cloth tableclothes, decorations, paper goods, drinks and clean up for our potluck. it looked like we were going to have 30 sets of sweets! so I planned to bring ham. When the new yeast roll recipe turned out easy and large, I added that. When I saw how cold it was going to be, I added some of my turkey ONION veggie soup.

When others heard what I was bringing, several decided to bring casseroles. Many brought what went well with ham: deviled eggs, broccoli, 4 salads, yams, italian beans, baked beans. One brought turkey and the condiments. We ended up with a wonderful spread which also fed all our instructors, all the staff present at lunchtime, with enough leftovers in their kitchenet to feed all the teen staff arriving about now for the evening shifts. They started talking about getting a birthday cake for the birthdays (the restaurant we go to gives the birthday folks free cake) which I volunteered to pick up at Sam's Club. There were so many great sweets no one ate much. Boy where they pleased to have that cake, a bunch of ham, and a pile of rolls left over. I had to go back for one of my bags left behind, and I saw the cake was almost gone! LOL - kids love birthday cake.

But not a speck of soup- am pleased to report that at least 10 folks proclaimed it marvelous, 3 asked for the recipe (duh....it's Thanksgiving leftovers!!!) and 2 asked to take some home, which was fine since I had brought it in two of those giveaway Glad containers. One fella says he had the soup for dessert!

The Y has asked us to please consider making our first ever luncheon there a quarterly event! LOL [sure hope they don't expect us to give them a Christmas present every quarter - our class collected and donated a nice cash gift to their fundraiser drive]

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Good Afternoon all, a little rain last night and my plants love it. It can get pretty cold at night so I'm going to have to cover up my plumeria plants.

Jaye I have acid-reflux too and I take Omeprazole and it really works for me. Of course, when a drug becomes generic that is what we get unless we want to pay a lot more. Increased my blood pressure medicine too, was normal until I got more blood and then it went up high. BTW I just read that vitamin D3 is good for the immune system. Take Fosamax (the generic of course) and so doctor added D3, 2000 mg.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone.
I am back from the knee doc, and all he did was tell me my knee is messed up. I have a small cyst on the medial miniscus, and some wear and tear on the lateral miniscus. So he said I can grin and bear it, go through some different shots, or have another surgery. I will go for the shots first, before I even think of another surgery.
Have a great night everyone!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Linda, I wouldn't give up on Miss Ladybug yet. I had a kitty (still have him) who disappeared for two weeks. He came up the driveway one day. Did you look in the garage to make sure he wasn't stuck in there? We've had that happen, too. They go in to explore (you know that curiosity thingy) and then the door gets shut and they have no way out. I'll keep praying for a safe return, and I'm sure she'll show up.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Linda, did you ask the dr to tell you something you don't know? "Ma'am, your knee is messed up." Ya Think??? Good Grief. I hate shots, but I hate surgery worse, I'm with you LK, go for the shots, I guess. Then again, look at me, I'm hoping for gout so I don't have to have a shot for a permanent fix. That's bad.

Linda, was Ladybug fixed? Cats do disappear for what could be weeks at a time, then they show up all happy to be home from their journey. An old neighbor of mine had a female cat disappear for 3 1/2 months, came home with a litter of 4 kittens and said, "Hi Mom! Brought my brood home finally!"

Raleigh, NC

Linda, this may sound dumb,but.... have you been up in the attic for Christmas decorations recently? we had a cat once get shut up in the attic for five days when we were getting down Christmas decorations. He followed us up there and we never saw him come in. Darn critter (a cat no one particularly liked) peed inside my box of wedding memories. He would have died up there except I couldn't find one precious item the kids insisted I find, so I went back up searching for it.

Please put my FIL Don in y'all prayers. I don't know yet what is going on, but it's sounding from Randall's end of the conversation like he has a suspect something-or-other and Doctors are talking cancer. My ILs live in Sturgis, SD, on next to no income. Don is somewhere around 82, I think. He's an absolutely wonderful old crudmudgeon, and would do anything I asked him to, and grumble all the time doing it. LOL He's loved, adored, and been married to the same woman since he was barely 20, still takes walks holding her hand.

Update - there's a growth, not on his liver, but beside it.

and would y'all put Randall in your prayers, too. His tooth extraction site is still very very painful, and now the other side of his mouth, where he's getting a crown Tuesday, is hurting very very bad. We are childless for tonight, so he took me to Ragazzi's in Wake Forest. I Love their lemon chicken with capers, which melted in my mouth, but ended up giving half to him because he couldn't eat the grilled chicken (too hard) in his fettucini alfredo. (I ended up eating all the salad, though.) He'd been looking forward to having that dish for a month, poor babe. had to take a pain pill as we were leaving the restaurant. now he's turned down a piece of the cherry pie I made him yesterday and he's turned down ice cream. Dentist said the tooth was so rotten, he ended up digging down in the jawbone to extract some there and he might have problems with it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ohh Bon, you have our prayers for both Don and Randall.
Hmm.. this will be the best time to get a bottle of the best Scotch to relieve his pain.

I'll take the shots LK, since invasive surgeries are never effective for you.

3 and a half month??? Crissy, one of my furkitties, Minou, has been gone for 2 months now!! If she were to return with little Minous.. I'd be so happy!

Linda, I hope Ladybug will get tired of exploring soon. It's so cold out there.. but then cats have a way of finding warm spots.

Pegi, without Protonix, I think I might have to give up on lots of good eats!!! AND having to sleep with discomfort...

Been in and out of the house. Wash a few loads then down to PILs.
So, quite exhausted now.

I'll say goodnight for now. See you all in the morning!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

A quick pop in, no chance to read through...Laura and I spent all day and most of the night shopping! Had a great time.

Bill made me a bicycle for my birthday...I was in tears...I haven't had one of his bikes in over twenty years...he made it right here under my nose and I never suspected a thing!!

Even better the kids went in with me today and we got him a Sony Reader for Christmas! He has been wanting one for a long time but knows we can't afford it. Thanks to the kids, he is in for a big surprise! That was probably the best part of my birthday!!! Now I can't wait to see his face on Christmas!!

Headed for bed, hope everyone has a good night...talk to you tomorrow...Prayers to all in need.

Jacksonville, FL

Good Morning Ladies!
Coffee is on and fresh out of the oven pecan danish. Ham and Cheese omelettes and hash browns also.

Bon--I will keep Don and Randall in my prayers,

I had Ladybug fixed after she weaned her litter of kitties and they had all found homes. We have checked everyones sheds in the park and there is no attic in my house. I have checked all closets even though I t know she went outside Sun night after she ate. I am inclined to believe that someone picked her up. They may not keep her long tho if she goes into her Psych-kitty mode. She is good with me but won't let others hold her very long. Then it's "fangs and claws"!!! Hopefully they did not take her far and she will find her way back.

It's a cold morning here and drizzly rain so no outside projects today unless it warms up and clears up which is doubtful. Guess I will work on painting on the stepping stones and some other yard pieces that I am redoing.

I finished this stepping stone that had faded to nothing--it was a beige with black letters years ago

Thumbnail by mistressgardenr
Raleigh, NC

don't suppose she is microchipped? we are still debating whether to do this or not to Faith

Jacksonville, FL

No she was not microchipped--that never occurred to me to have it done. She always stayed very close to home--sometimes went next door on either side and across the street to neighbors. We have very little traffic on the street since it is a small park with only one street. Everyone is keeping an eye out for her though.

It is very cold and nasty outside right now so I am holed up inside getting very little done! Cannot get motivated this am for some reason.

Better start working on the stepping stones here soon.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning All,
Rain, rain, rain, yuck! I prefer the snow it's pretty but not the freezeing temps. I was looking back at past threads for the one where we shared Holiday Recipes and can not find it. Since some are posting recipes it would be nice to see last year's also. On the January Dish towl thread someone posted a recipe for Irish Creme. Who can help?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!
Thanks for the breakfast Linda. Mmmmm.... pecan danish.. delicious.
I love how you revive that stepping stone, Linda. Too pretty to step on.
Our Minou that took off, is totally a one human kitty, and that's me. She won't go to Kel who feeds her, even after 3 years in the house. And it's Kel that saved her. Guess, she had enough with the growing family, and took off with a nary a trace of her fur :(

Go get Faith microchipped, Bon. Our country vets don't have that capability. Only kitty here that has that done is a rescue from a MB shelter.

Trisha, so glad you had a wonderful b'day. Knowing you, not expecting anything grand.... I can see how you bawled getting the bike!!

LK, Crissy... hope you both are not suffering too badly with your ankle and toe problems.

LK, if you do... you know Kahlua in your coffee will help relieve some ;)

I'm pretty sure, Donna, Susan and Cookie have things planned to keep them busy indoors. Unless you're both shovelling snow... :(

Murdock is doing a tad better, and we're thinking of spending some time at the movies... "The Blind Side". That won't take us too far from the house.

So, have a wonderful warm Saturday everyone!

Yes indeed I did do a disappearing act all day yesterday. What a glorious day it was albeit cold, damp and windy. Started with the Children's Christmas concert at Miss A's school--kudos to the teacher who taught that group all the songs and how well they were behaved!!!! I know I sound like a Grandma---duh! LOL
Miss A was allowed an early release after the concert so we had a little celebration lunch with just Mom, Dad, Grandma and her; best surprise---I was allowed to take her for the afternoon with me!! Ladies I have waited a very long time to be able to do this and many, many prayers have been answered. Finally after 13 years DIL and I have a good working relationship. We did some Christmas shopping, ran some errands then home. She wanted Mexican for dinner so we did. The people have gotten to know us quite well and let Miss A practice her Spanish when we go. Well talk about a celebration show they did for her!!! Oh my--naturally that keeps us coming back.

BEST part of evening: The Princess and the Frog!!!!!! Jaye, I thought of you during the entire movie--fabulous--well I think it was and so did they others in our group. It is set in New Orleans and it one of the best Disney movies I have seen in a while--usually story girl mets prince, etc. etc. but with a very different twist. A must see for young and young at heart.

We are getting pounded by rain today and it is to continue tomorrow. We have had so much the ground isn't absorbing it very quickly and puddles are everywhere. Good day to stay in and work with my sewing machine. Stay warm all and will check later...........................

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

1st the practice, then the singing. Should be about a total of 4 1/2 hours..... yikes!!
Printing out bulletins that I created for it now.
Cya later, ladies and thanks for breakfast!!

Marion, so glad you had a great time with your GD.
Sure do hope you find your kitty. Did she have a collar with tags. That would help anyone ID here?

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Just a misting rain here this morning. I can hear the weeds growing already. We need the rain so shouldn't complain. But, damp and cold weather isn't good for the aches in my legs. Hope kitty comes home soon, had a black cat once who was missing for a couple weeks then one day found him on the back porch. I think he had gotten locked up in one of the trailers that were under construction near us. Took him to the vet and besides being hungry and thirsty he was OK.

Prayers for those who need them, that means all of us I'm sure.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

No shoveling here either... Just very busy.. Max is working nights, Im working days, kids school projects, and Trina and Teara are BOTH visiting... I worked cutting hair non stop from 720 (after Max got home and we shared a hello and goodbye at the truck) until 230 and we are over run with kids.. lol Currently we have Tony, Tristen, Trina, Teara and Nathaniel (cant forget Bella) upstairs.. My best friend is on the way with her 4 girls and her mastiff to play for few hours..

Will check in later.. .

O heres a pick from Thursday! All gone now but was a great day off work..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Today has been a cookie/candy day. Delivered the 5 bags of caramels, went to the bank, and checked in and medicated our friends' dogs. Then home and made a batch of English Walnut/Cherry cookies. That dough is refrigerated. Then Cream Cheese Spritz thumbprint cookies with my homemade strawberry jam in the centers. Last night I made the Christmas tree spritz with my new cookie press. Had to get them in the freezer right away, or they would have all been gone! Soon as I finish here I'm starting the Almond Butter Melt in Your Mouth cookies. I lost my original recipe, so I'm going to be using a butter recipe I found and giving it my own slant! Hope it turns out okay. Hate to waste two sticks of butter!

My house is a wreck. There is just so much to do!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Are you all signed up for the dish towel swap?

Jacksonville, FL

I have been busy baking today too! Chocolate/.butterscotch cookies, Peanut Butter Cookies, Marshmallow & pecan brownies, pumpkin bread, date and nut bread, and fudge! Boy--I am going to put on the lbs tonite as I munch down on the goodies!!!! When I get in cooking mode I go a little wild! (Don't go there often tho!!) Making home-made burritos for dinner and then pig out on desserts.

Been cold and VERY rainy today. Rascal--my Maine Coon cat has been inside with me all day just napping and getting loving! (and treats) I know he misses Ladybug alot but I think he loves the extra attention. I am keeping a watchful eye on him now--if he was to disappear I could not take it! It is hard enough with Ladybug, but Rascal nearly died on me last year and the vet wanted to put him down. I brought him home and nursed him back to health and he is doing fantastic. The neighbors love him dearly and were upset that he would not make it so he is spoiled by them when he is out with me!

Well--gonna head to kitchen to finish up cooking the burritos, have dinner and DESSERTS and kick back for awhile!!
Have not turned on the TV in months but might do that tonite and see if there is anything good on.

Linda!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yummmm. All thopse sweets sound really good!
Todd is cooking a brisket in the oven roaster. it will be ready for tomorrow. I have some pico made, and marinating in the fridge.

just wanted to check in and tell ya'll, Randall is not doing well. I've spoken this evening to the dentist, who thinks he's probably got an infection. Randall, who will wait until he's near collapse before he'll take pain meds for a kidney stone, was taking his pain meds every 30 mins. while we were out picking up craigslist items today. He was crying before I could get him home, and jerking around, said the pain felt like it was sending spears up into his brain.

made him ice his jaw, called and got antibiotics and more pain meds and more info on how and when he can take them, because they have tylenol in them. He'd barely eaten, combination not good. I've gotten chicken noodle soup and saltines (crushed in soup) down him, and steamed a buttered yeast roll until near soggy, which he was able to eat. he ate a banana this morning. Not exactly enough to keep a 300 lb man going. He's had a few bites of vanilla ice cream just now. Dentist says we'll talk in 24 hours. Looks like I'm on guard duty until then, because he's still feeling the pain, but no longer cares! I've never seen him in pain like this before.
