Hi Smiley glad your safe! We will be waiting patiently. Don't work too hard.
TWO WEEKS AND A DAY TIL REINDEER PLAY
Watching the news under a blanket.
Was 30° when I got up an 25° now suppose to drop to -3 I think.
This gal isn't leaving the house today.
DH better get his rear up and start plowing.
Lynnie went to work I believe.
No worries JJ just give it a few hours and snow will be gone and no plowing needed if its anything like here the past few years.
Ok JJ then you will have time to write your poem and post, you and Lynnie need to step up with the rest of us. And what about Venice bet she could bellow one out too.lol
JJ, sending warm thoughts to you...my brain just won't wrap around that kind of cold. So glad they have closed the schools...just too blooming cold for those kids to be out...of course wonder how many will sneak out to play...
gotta get my rear in gear too...seems like the errand list gets longer everyday...guess if I actually ran some of them it might get shorter...grin
Dixie is the little poos running around with ear muffs and stelletos on this morning?
yep gotta run here in a bit too Moon, Your so funny!
it sounds better to be funny rather than lazy....lol
Smiley if this keeps up not sure I bought enough.
Maybe you can sneak me a ton or two. :)
Be careful on your drive home.
Venice you skip the GW store today and stay inside.
Flowers the generator is ready, hopefully won't need it. Gas cans full so we could last a few days. The fireplace will keep the house warm if power goes out and the son has a generator so won't have to deal with DIL..
oops did I say that outloud
Moon those waffles are sounding mighty good...
GS just came down hope you have plenty..
Always plenty for the little guys JJ. got blueberry syrup and strawberries and whipped cream...you sneak the donuts while he eats the waffles...grin
That reminds me JJ, got to pick up kerosene for space heater, Geeze to much to remember my brain fuses are gonna start blowing LOL
Flowers I don't think this snow is going anywhere any time soon...wiping my tears
Moon I know of a couple that will be out . Their mom will send them to my house to play.
Going to make GS breakfast and get homework that is due Friday out of the way, then I think we will make cut out cookies. Dough is in frig and he likes to do that.
You all have a good day and if I need something will holler so you can get it for me.
the neighbor that moved to Florida came back two days ago and we are
freezing here and its 84° in Florida where she should be...wonder hows she's liking that duh
Catch you later
Hey moon just got another bright idea, Starting on the twelve day before Christmas, Why not post the part of the song for each day until Christmas. I have the book and tell ya what they are if you don't remember.
Bye JJ, have fun with house full of kids lol Bet neighbor is kicking herself right now wishing she had stayed in FL. Dixie where are you???
Flowers those kerosene heaters smell, be careful inhaling those fumes...wouldn't want you to lose any brain cells
I will leave the poetry to the skilled ones of the bunch..not a poet and know it...how's that
Later all , eveyone be careful
Too late JJ LOL should have warned me sooner! Bye
Ok have an hour and half to get it together ane out the door, And since bones and mind are both on the freeze it will take me that long to find my keys after I lay them down a dozen times before getting to the door. Venice hope you didn't have to crawl out from under the bed this morning girl lol. Every one have a warm safe day and will talk tonight after it is all said and done. Joy enjoy your walk!
That is a cool idea Flowers, but the first day of Christmas is December 25th...it runs through January 6th,Epiphany. The Greek Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on January 6th, and that is also the start of the MardiGras season. In England and Australia (and maybe Canada) December 26th is celebrated as Boxing Day. That is the day all the tenants would visit the Manor house and the Lord and Lady of the home would give them boxes of food, gifts and/or money...
So, if ya wanna do the actual 12 days you would need to start on Christmas Day with a Partridge....the gifts get bigger the closer to the Twelfth Night ya get...
(history lesson provided by the brain filled with silly facts and mostly useless information) grin
I remember years ago when we used to pack the ice melt here, there was a shortage all across the country. You guys in the mid-west hogged it all.
The stuff would come in rail cars, 90 tons to a car. It would get augured into our packing machines in a variety of sizes, mostly 50# bags. Well, this one year there was none to be had, except in 2oz sample bags, little zip lock bags. So my boss sent a purchase order over to our calcium salesman for 1,440,000 sample bags.
We had a good laugh. Funny thing, the rail car was stuck to the tracks in Michigan. We were laughing at the railroad contact, telling them to open the darned bin and use some ice melt.
I just heard on the radio that the winds on the Great Lakes are going to be the strongest since the wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975.

We wouldn't hog the icemelt Smiley
Here you go, winter wonderland for you with sunshine.
The wind blew my tree over on the porch and Mr and Mrs Clause too. Boo Hoo
JJ, you take really nice photos.
Thanks Smiley, but not usually.
Shoot work just called oh well only have to go two blocks and not til 11 o'clock.
My lucky day just called me back and said the lady said she didn't need anything and it was to bad outside.
It has dropped to 18° now Brrrr.
The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was indeed a sad tragedy, but I think the Gordon Lightfoot song was equally a tragedy...IMHO....grin...Hope they are pulling those freighters in to port....guess that means the winds are pretty bad on land also.
JJ, you must be getting a bonus for the day you had yesterday....so glad you don't have to go out. Even looking at your picture makes me cold.
Me too.
DH said I better learn to say No. I told him its 2 blocks and if the lady needs help I can get there and if I can't then don't you plan on leaving either!
But the lady said she didn't have anything that much that needed done she didn't want me to come out. She is a very nice lady...
16° and holding.
Has anyone heard from Kassy? That bridge is to scarey.
JJ, how can you say no to ladies that need help? Sheesh! Are they little old ladies? If so, then I'm on your side. Ask DH if *he* would say no to them.
I can't believe it's that cold there. Its 46° here. We're expecting our share of that storm tomorrow, but the highs are supposed to be upper 20's to mid 30's.
Smiley he don't say No to anyone, ever...
Yes it is a older lady, but she does most things herself, but he knows I am still not going to say No.
He just don't want me out in this and if I would have had to go he probably would have drove me those two blocks and came back after me. My big protector...
I will take that 46° sounds like a heatwave.
If the wind would stop gusting so bad it would help, it is a blustery white mess, can't hardly open the back door its blowing so hard
Hi everyone, hope you're all managing ok in the snow. There's no sign of any here nor is it forcast for the near future.I't's been 46f here again today and sunny on and off, turned misty though at about 3.30.The forcast's similar for tomorrow.
Rachel, yes,I've always lived in the UK,have you lived anywhere other than US ?
I've always thought I could never live in a big city,I've always lived here in Dronfield, though I've travelled a fair bit in my own country, and the rest of Europe...to Italy,Germany,France ,Spain,Belgium,Holland,Switzerland and Monaco. Also in Scandinavia....to Danemark and Sweden.
I still like it here though:}
I was at work this morning, until 12.30.Then in the afternoon went out to a garden centre with my mum.Every Wed ,as I'v mentioned,my parents have a care worker to come and stay with my Dad so Mum can leave him for a while without worrying about him left alone.I always let her decide what she'd like to do and she wanted to look at Christmas display at this particular garden centre.
I bought 2 Heucheras,"Blackberry Jam" variety, dusky pink foliage, with darker pink veining.I love Heucheras and have quite a few varieties growing in the garden, these 2 are for 2 empty pots I've got,for some winter colour.
as it's just after 7pm now here,I'm sorting out dinner,so i'll be back soon.
Take good care of yourselves in all the snow ,rain and winds.
Joy
Jim, I have a McCoy flower pot that was my mom's...
I wish I had taken the other 2 from the set, but my sister would have missed them. This one she didn't miss............he he he he
I'll have to go back and read the posts, but first I have to go download some pictures ^_^
JJ, thanks for calling in for me, but my manager didn't tell me that you did.........she wanted to leave early when I got there early............LOL
Back in a few ;-)
Glad to hear you made it back Kassy. They say it's raining & lightening outside, and our lights keep blinking.
Joy, I would love to travel more. I've never been anywhere outside the US, besides Canada. My parents lived in Paris back in the 50's, when it was fashionable for artists to paint on Montmartre.
We're going to take a look outside, see how it's doing. There are no windows in this office, boss didn't want us gazing at the sunshine in the summer!
(( just kidding ))
You have to check your messages to get them Kassy......before you leave....^_^
Joy glad to hear you are having better weather than we are.
Smiley you are the boss ( close to it) you sholdn't have to work in the closet.
JJ, I am the boss alright, the boss of nothing! Actually, I'm the office boss... and I choose to sit in the corner.
But I didn't build the building, and all the windows belong to *my* bosses. They can keep their stinkin' windows, I'll take the corner.
Hi all! Hope everyone is coping well with their weather situations. Had to do the back stroke home from work.....then flew the rest of the way,let the wind carry me. Mary Poppins effect. Grin
Hi there everyone! It is really winter. I haven't even put down my mulch yet!
Smiley and JJ, will Heucheras look good in the winter in our zones? I wish I knew of something that would look good during the winter. I have one little plant that looks good but I don't even know what it is.
I think our weather has calmed down. Really windy but not much total snow.
Dixie and Flowers, maybe you can help me. What seeds would be good to plant now in SC that doesn't take forever to grow. I wanted to send some to my granddaughter.
The Vinca's would be a good choice V. she could start them inside near a window, and move them out side in spring. They make pretty little flowers, and all sorts of colors.
Venice, I don't really know if anything besides a pine tree would look good in our weather, but I have a few heuchera's and they're actually still their summer color (kind of).
How did your turtlehead's do? If they took, next year they would make good bones in the winter. The leaves die back, but the stalk that had the flowers stays real well ~ they brown up & all those seed heads go up the stalk, they really are pretty and hold up through a lot of abuse. Even if they didn't do that well this year, they will come back in spring (unless totally dead) and will look good next fall & winter.
In the spring, let me know if they don't make it, I can dig a clump out when they're not too tall.
Yuck Kassy. I don't know if I'm mentally ready for this.
OK smiley you can stay in the corner if you want, lots of good company there lately :)
Venice I don't have anything that looks good in the winter, can't see it under the snow anyway..
Dixie if you were here you would still be flying....this wind is awful..the dog won't even go out.
GS wants to but mean old Gramma won't let him. so him an grandpa are playing domino's
Not hardly fair we are freezing and moon is trying to decide if GS can wear shorts.....
