Themoonhowl,my friend. Where do you always buy roses from and how much does it cost theer?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Sohugosh. How are you? Hope all is well with you and your family.

I buy my roses at a local nursery. Depending on the variety/type/size and whether they are sold potted or bare root, I pay anywhere from 56 yuan ($8US) to as much as 175 yuan ($25US). There are some that are much more expensive, but I am content to wait for those....grin There are many on-line garden centers that offer many roses at various prices, but I prefer to look at the plant before I purchase it. Are our prices for roses comparable?

How did I not see this before?? So many beautiful roses you have, sohugosh! You too, Moon. I love the Don Juan climber... used to have one (( sniff ))

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

We have to get you another Don Juan Smiley....they smell wonderful and are so easy to care for. Sohugosh has over 50 different roses....imagine the fragrance....grin

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

A floral fragrance will stop me mid-sentence in the summertime. I had a Don Juan once, I think I told you that story, Moon.

sohugosh, I may have missed it ~ how many roses doe you have?

Huizhou, China

Hope all is well with you themoonhowl! I bought some of roses from the local nursey but most of them online. Becuase there are more kinds and choices online. Today I just got eleven plants and I am keeping on purachasing more online, hehe. Maybe I will get over one hundred kinds of roses before Spring Festival. The price in China are much lower than yours. It's from about 10 yuan to 80yuan. Most of their price are around 20yuan. The most expensive plants are imported from Europen countries. Such as Austin Rose from England and others from France etc. Their prices are from 170yuan to 500yuan per plant. But I never tired it. Too expensive for me.

Hi!smileymom343. Your Don juan climber must have been very charming! But I don't have it before. I 've got maybe over 60 kinds of roses now and it's number is increasing.

Huizhou, China

I heard most kinds of climbers are from Europen countries. Most kinds of roses in China are not climbers. I always see some pics of climbers around house .They are so beautiful!
Just like this pic

Hi Sohugosh...yes, I agree...175 yuan or more is getting well out of my budget also. GRIN Careful, you are well on the road to becoming a Rose Addict....grin.

We are very hot and humid here in the summer, so I tend to purchase roses that are disease resistant. We were away from home for a month during the summer and had rain almost everyday...some of my roses suffered seriously from Blackspot. Then the whiteflies set in....it was an arduous battle for the rest of the summer and I am still not sure who won....grin

You really do need a Don Juan, Sohugosh. The fragrance is pure rose with a hint of clove....it is intoxicating.

Wow . You are online at the same time! Nice to talking with you.

But I don't kow Don Juan's name in Chinese . Or I must buy one. Maybe I can check it online. Today a got a kind online . It's from Thailand and can keep one bloosming at over 40'C

You too. It must be very late at night there? It is close to 9AM here. How is your weather there now? We are experiencing a small respite from what has been a very rare, but miserable cold spell here. We had 11 or 12 days of freezing or below temperatures with nighttime temps dipping into the teens. (-7.2 C). our normal low is around 32F (0 C). My garden is brown right now, and I have probably lost a few plants, but my roses are still trying to bloom....grin

It's this kind. It can grow very well in the hot season.

Sohugosh/Themoonhowl, I envy you two so much. I live in the Boonies of Penna. and Roses just don't do anything here. Growing up, my dad had a "Blue Girl" that was just to die for and when we moved upstate we found out that Roses are just not the thing to grow up here. If you can get one to grow you are lucky if it blooms at all. I have bought so many and just had them fail that I have given up altogether. I need to move to China or La.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Do not laugh....grin. I think that is the translation...I sincerely hope it is not insulting.

Sure. It's alomst 23 o'clock here. hehe. But's it's still early for me. I have become a night owl since I start planting roses. I always enoy rose pics online over 2am! Maybe I am too carzy. The temperature here is mild. It's about 13.C-19.C. I live in South China. It' not too cold here. Never under zero in Huizhou.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Wow withad. Is it heat, humidity, cold, soil type? That is really a shame. You are welcome to join us here in LA...I am not a good steward to rose care...a little food, a little fungicide and lots of cutting blooms off to come inside. Beyond that, they are pretty much on their own. I too have Blue Girl. Just got her this summer. I can not wait for her to settle in and start blooming well this year.

Huizhou, China

Withad. You mean you can't grow roses in your area? My! Why? Too hot?

Huizhou, China

Do you have any oneline chat software. Maybe we can chat more freely!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

That would be 2300 hours on Monday night, right? The International dateline can confuse me sometimes....grin

My daughter lives in Brisbane Australia. I have to be very careful when I call her...a few times my calls have wakened her well before sunrise.
