Hope you feel better Sherrie.
LOL Victor. I wonder who gave him the sign to hold up. The photographer or just someone with a sense of humor. Hope they also bought him a meal.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

YES Victor!!!! Made me cry.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I practically did too. We've all been that guy.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm crying too...

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

That was VERY nice Victor. ☺

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

How sad, especially in this country

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm inspired.......but I need to go to town for a bit. Wish me luck, i'll be much more humble and grumble less I promise. ^_^

South Hamilton, MA

Over 40 yrs ago when daughtr was 6, we went to a puppet show at the Museum of the City of NY. Recommend the place, not to well known outside of city, but a great venu.

Don't have any site to post, but local teenagers serve at the town food pantry.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

DH is happy here. Browns beat the Steelers last night!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Steelers can't beat anyone lately!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

The Browns are usually the ones to lose the game. It was really cold, even the officials looked cold!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Made me cry...yeah we've all been that guy for sure.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Feel better Sherrie.
Great links Victor.

hate, the opposite of love, I don't love golf soooo....

Yes I've played it, most annoying game EVER and sooooo extremely boring to watch.

Thanks all Doing fine - its gone what ever it was. Golf is the most boring thing you can put breath to. I would rather watch a dog dig a hole to bury a bone.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Loved the pay it forward!!! Snything about penguins makes me happy! They are so smart.

That was so nice Victor! Made me want to be more patient. I definitely "Got It".

Glad its gone Sherrie! Probably just something you ate.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I was hoping the guy would be in the supermarket complaining about the person blocking the aisle with the cart...^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Happy Hanukkah!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Yes! Happy Hanukkah!

Sherrie, so sorry you are so miserable.

Venu, thanks. The distastefulness of Clemons can't really be attributed to the Yankees. He is mostly a Red Sox player.

WC, I wish the Yankees had Jackie Robinson play for them. That was the then-Brooklyn Dodgers

Good for you Celeste! Get things on a positive track! Good things happen every day. And Christ said "he who is w/o sin" (any sin) not "he who is w/o the sin you you are criticizing" cast the first stone.
I'm not religous, but that is a great way to try to live your life.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

So much for the Yankees...

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Someone referred to the opposite of love.... I don't think it's hate. I think the opposite of love is indifference.(Bio-chemistry agrees with me.)

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

I was gonna say that too Dave. I was taught it is indifference.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Today I went to the chocolate factory to harvest chocolate for gifts for our trip and amazingly wonderousy the chocolate factory gives you samples as you harvest. Thusly I left with many gifts and muchly samplling. Who knew being smashed on chocolate was this much fun? ^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

feel better Sherrie.. some stuff going around

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm glad to get off the Tiger thing, but if people ignore bad behavior (sins), they will only increase. This is the real world. Taken literally, that quote from the bible would mean we should not have any laws, no prisons, etc. Let's not say say anything bad about pedophiles, the Bernie Madoffs of the world, corrupt politicians and corporate leaders, etc. Jesus criticized and called out many sinners. One of the many problems today is the push to be 'non-judgmental'.

According to the dictionary....
Antonyms of love: hatred, dislike, detest, hate.

Indifference is just a lack of concern for something.

Agree Victor, nowadays they make it as if there is no absolutes or black and white.

The verse is actually..... "if anyone one of you is without sin"..... Jesus was speaking to those Pharisees and teachers of the law that were constantly trying to trap Him. Bending down he began to write in the sand, many think he was writing the sins of those men.

But don't want to get into a theogical debate. so I'll end it here before I get in trouble with admin.

I dont really care about the Tiger Woods thing, I think it was entertaining talking about some big stars transgession just for fun since it's winter and it's cool just to talk about something that everyone is aware of. But as any subject eventually the topic gets redundant and it's time to move on to something else. I guess it just served as a platform to talk about morality. The thing is that a star is not regular person, a star is a corporation, a business. Can we apply morality to businesses? It would be nice if we could, but the 'real world' doesn't work that way.
One of my favorite books which I find very informative & entertaining is 'The Art of War' written 4000 yrs ago by someone called Sun Tzu. I'm always fascinated by it's analogies to corporate business tactics!

One of the problems that I've seen is the decline of morality in the US. The media and advertising seem to have no bottom when it comes to morality. Children are much too exposed to violence and sexual situations through the electronic media. And in the computer generated world they can participate in interactive 'simulations' as well. If they don't like the outcome they press the ESC key and reset the game. - Life isint like that!! -But children are highly impressionable and reality and fantasy are sometimes blurred for them. How can they know the difference when they are not fully aware of what reality/ consequences are of their actions!? The tremendous allure of liberalism bent on facilitating the gratification of our Freudian 'Id' which is marketed to the young generation is overwhelming! But it's profitable for companies and this is a captialist society which we love, defend and prosper in. Ohh well ... C'est la vie.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - heavy stuff, WC!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

WC--I'm a liberal, who is NOT prospering, who agrees it is an instant gratification, corporate world--it is evident even in medicine. The analogy I am drawn to is the fall of the Roman Empire. Ugh--this is as depressing as Tiger talk! Anyone have a random act of kindness story to counter all the bad news?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - let's get more positive. Time for a new thread too!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks Victor, I always think stuff like that, just dont say it because it takes too long to type it! (lol!)
- I dont consider myself a liberal or conservative, just a reg guy who knows limits. I do out of conscience what the law tells others to do out fear of penalty.

- I agree about the Roman Empire...

(and a change of topic if anyone finds this too depressing... lol)

Couldn't disagree more Victor. If I thought for one minute that our sharing our disgust with Tiger would make this a more moral world I would be right behind you. I'm interested in people who do good and, in my experience, people who do good are not overly involved in the shortcomings of others. I'm not trying to personalize this to you or the other good people here. I'm talking my exprerience.in life.

I don't think JC would be jumping on the Tiger thing. He had much more compassion for Mary Magdelene than he did for the pharisees who were sticklers for rules and big on judgement.(You know, get the log out of your own eye...) Of course we need values. But when confronted with a problem, I see 2 kinds of people. Those that criticize and those that try to help. I am concerned we are turning into a nation of the former.

I hope people take my comments in the spirit I intend them and not see this as yet another "Us vs Them" issue. I fear we do far to much of that.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well, we definitely sees things very differently, Dave. I see this country as going way too far the other way. And it's been going that way for decades, with nothing to show for it but decadence and moral decay. Oops - I judged. Sorry! Yes, there are rapists, murderers and pedophiles because we are not doing enough to help them. Hmm. The Catholic church chose not to 'judge' the pedophile priests and instead tried 'therapy'. Because of that, countless more children were abused and ruined.

'When confronted with a problem, I see two kinds of people. Those who criticize and those who try to help.' So Tiger needs more counselors. Do you actually believe he finally took his latest action (quitting golf and supposedly working to straighten himself out) because of some epiphany? Or because someone tried to help him? No - it's because if the negative reaction (gasp - judging!) he has received and the constant release of even more incidents.

Jesus did not criticize the pharisees because they were sticklers for rules, but because they were hypocrites, just like Tiger. And why did Mary Magdelene even warrant compassion?? She did not do anything wrong. Did Jesus advocate abolishing prisons? Never protecting society from dangerous people? I must have missed that.

Did anyone suggest that talking about Tiger would make the world more moral??? Why should that lack of a connection mean that his behavior should be ignored.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

I think its dangerous to believe in absolutes. History has proven this with people like Hitler and such.

Liberalism marketed to the younger generation is capitalism at its worst extreme. Even democracies need checks and balances.

Elie Wiesel:
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference.
The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference.
And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.
(Oct. 1986)

For those that would call for wrath and judgement, I like the saying;

..an eye for an eye just makes the whole world blind....
