Brugmansia Blooming in a vase

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Oh, I love fresh baked bread!.....mmmm....Yeah, I can google it. That's what I will do. I just wish I had the recipe that I had last year..lol.. Now where would I have put those recipes.....maybe in the box with the tree decorations...lol...that sounds like a possibility..lol
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Elizabeth, today when I was out, I picked up a bunch of different candies to put hang on the tree.My tree is mostly done in candy decorations, garland etc. and I thought that it would be fun this year to hang a lot of real candies on the tree and give each one of the grandkids a Christmas baggy, and let them get a bunch of candy off of the tree, right before they leave for home.

Elizabeth

Dee
that is a wonderful idea, it would be sooo cute to have little christmas stocking with candy in them on the tree, I put a Christmas card with $ in it for my SIL, I love to see that smile when he opens it, I am doing that this year for my DH & SIL
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I don't own very many books, but I keep every gardening magazine that I get.I have a few cook books, but I get most of my recipes off line..it's just so easy to google them, like you said. Elizabeth, I'm gonna get off here and try to find the candy recipes...It's buggin' me now..lol.Hope to talk to you tomorrow evening..Good night.
Dee

Hello girls, just got home and stuffing my face.

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I guess I'm a little late tonight, I guess I'll go and fine all the hardy zones on all the Gingers I have. Maggi wants all that information when she starts the Web-site.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

evening burg lovers and other plant lovers... I have been freezing and below here.. work has had me captive..
had to take all the leaves offf all the brug trees I found spider mites, washed them all down with soap and water.. will isolate them and let them go dormant now. (*sniff* )
Oh Spring.. where are you?
Jori that movie is a hoot I loved it.
Hi ken, I have some gingers from people, I hope they make it thru this winter . They are in the basement garden.

Kerkdriel, Netherlands

Gingers, I am trying to get some more. It is very strange. I can buy those here. But I pay the same for one tuber as I pay on ebay in Thailand for 3 tubers with phytosanitair certificate. So I will be getting mine of ebay. Or maybe I ask here on DG if someone has a few for me. That is a great idea! I will be doing that immediatly!

Here I have the information of my celphone:
Charleen's two NOID's rooted

Dee: strawberry cream, frosty pink and jean pasco have rooted
Calico looks bad, I am affraid he isn't going to make it while this one had roots before it came here. Very
strange. Orange NOID also died. I think the cutting was too thin. That was a green cutting.

Elizabeth: most of them still look good. But I can't see roots coming out beneath yet,
I am affraid Joli isn't going to make it and that Harlot isn't going to make it. The cuttings feel hollow inside.
And they don't look very well. But the other six are doing great!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I hope the ones I have make it(gingers) they are just sitting here, dormant I hope waiting for Spring.
Good, Jori. Glad the cutting rooted.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE.
Charleen

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Good morning Charleen,

Your Gingers should be ok just do not over water them.

Well Jori, I guess it would be Good night for you. There are no where near as many Ginger growers as there is Brug growers. As far as I know there is only a few here on Dave's that have as many as I do and I am just getting started. What I like about Gingers, is that all I have to do is plant them out and if someone wants one, just dig them up a piece. No cutting, no rooting just dig them up. I got about 80 new ones this year and probably lost 10 to 12 of those but have a friend who can replace those and I will be seriously adding to them this year. They do so well in my area. Charleen you should be in a great area for Gingers also. Are yours in the ground or in pots? I only have a few in pots, ones that are not for my zone and ones that I got too late to plant.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Ken, I just got them, so they are in pots. I spray over them with the Recipe but haven't watered them yet. My Brugs get sprayed too, not heavy just the tops. Got some sprouting in water too. Just have plants everywhere.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Good morning everyone.Hope you are all staying warm.It is 9 here and feels like -7..brrr.
I am into tropicals big time, but don't have any gingers.I guess I just have enough other tropicals to dig and bring in the fall.
Dee

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I would spray the Brugs but not the Gingers. Brugs can grow all Winter long, but most Gingers like to sleep through the Winter. There are so many different types of Gingers and they can really complete a garden. Going to work now, catch you later.

Kerkdriel, Netherlands

Ken when it is morning at your place I guess it is almost noon here. Now it is half past 4 pm here. So you can count how much earlier it is at your place.

Kerkdriel, Netherlands

Where are you all???

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

We here> Just had a lot of running around to do today. Hope the rest of the week is better. Are you feeling much better, Jori???
Weatherman is calling for weather to start getting colder. I know it is but sure hope it doesn't. I just don't care for cold weather anymore. Too many aching bones.
charleen

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

Jori, I know what time it is in the Netherlands, seven hours ahead of us. Mi SIL lived in the Netherlands for several years, then moved to Ireland and now she is living in Sweden. She is having her wine as we are having lunch.

Batesville, AR

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to you all. Feeling much better. How is everyone? Doing well I hope.
Kim

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Good Morning, hope all are well.
28 degrees here.
Very cold sunny morning.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Hello, everyone.I have been very busy the last couple of days, trying to get some things done before, our Christmas dinner next weekend. Are you staying warm Charleen? Glad you are feeling better Kim.We missed you.
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

The temp is 39. Still cold, Dee. Our Thermostate died.
Been heating house with the Oven. Ain't that a kick in the butt???
Got a new one at Lowes this p.m. I made a Apple thing. Sort of like a pie
think next time I just going to use cinnamon, I don't care for nutmeg--at all.
I don't like it in pumpkin or Sweet potatoes either. Just cinnamon--yum!
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I am trying to get everything out and organized, for tomorrow. My daughter and her oldest are coming over tomorrow morning and we are making our candies and cookies..finally found my praline recipe..lol..We will be doing that most of the day. It will be so much fun. This is the first year that my daughter and grandaughter, have joined in to help.I can hardly wait.
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Know you are going to love that.
3 generations. How wonderful.
RRM

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, are you and your DH doing Christmas dinner at home, or going to relatives? I think making the candies is my second favorite thing at Christmas....I make enough for friends and neighbors and enough to send home lots, with the kids, after we have our Christmas here.My favoritest(lol) thing is watching the grandkids open presents and seeing paper flying everywhere :^)..
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

We usually just stay home, but sure my SIL will want us to go over for dinner. I got the kids some stuff but don't have any of it wrapped. Thinking of baking some cookies.I like to cook, can't lose any weight cause I also like to eat what I cook.
Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I send most of the candy home with the kids, cause I know me and DH would have sky high sugar, if I didn't...lol..DH dearly loves Buckeyes..I don't have all the kids presents wrapped yet, either..Wish I was organized like Elizabeth, but I'm just not. I will get it finished up next week...just in time..lol
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I know it. I just not organized at all. But got some things bagged up to take to my SIL, then if she want to throw it away, she can. A lot of Plastic containers that I had built up. Re-located thethings in the oven into the Cabinets. You know you need to do these things, I do anyhow, but just keep putting it off til I have to do it. Got Bunches of Clothes I did to get rid of too.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Me too Charleen. I have clothes that I never wear.I have two closets full of clothes.I really need to go thru them. Most are nice newer clothes, but it seems like I wear the same ones over and over.In the summer, it's capris and t-shirts, and in the winter, jeans and sweatshirts. I think I am ready for tomorrow now...cleared off all the counters..even the canisters, and have all our ingredients out on the dining room table.....Umpteen bags of chocolate chips ..lots of powdered sugar...etc.etc.etc.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

You are going to need a good rest after all the Christmas Holidays are over, I know Elizabeth will too. but you will have so much fun and so many memories. Keep your batteries Charged for those cameras.
We have 34 degrees this AM. Calling for rain and maybe some Sleet. That is worse than Snow.
Charleen

Batesville, AR

Hi all, missed you all too. We will be staying home and have christmas with just ourselves. Our oldest two went to Michigan to visit family up north. Boy is it cold here. Cold enough to freeze water. No snow yet. wich is a good thing for us. We use a woodstove so thankfully we won't need to rely on electricity for heat.
Kim

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Temp here says 41 but it feels colder with that little bit of wind blowing. It is sprinkling. So Snow is not out of the question.
Ready for Spring, girls. got Brugs sprouting and they want to grow. Kim, your Cherubs are still looking great. Sprouting
new little leaves. The ones below the desk look like they may be doing o.k. Been spraying with Recipe. So that works too.

Kerkdriel, Netherlands

Dee, how are your cookies and candy??? How do they taste?

The first christmasday we are going to my parent and the second christmasday we are going to my hubbies parents. And then we have a few days of I hope until newyearsday.

Tomorrow my son get's his second mexicanflu injection. Hope he doesn't get to upset.

It is freezing here. Last night too and during the day. They say it is going to get really cold here. But all my plants are inside the greenhouse with the heater on. So I hope they will be ok!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

They should be, with the heater, Jori. Sounds like you have your Christmas days all lined up.
Got thunder going on now, I guess I better get off this thing. Look like it is going to Rain again.
Fogging up again. Made me a new shelf in my kitchen for my plants and it looks pretty good,
even if I do say so myself.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

looks good to me!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Thank you. I like it much better than other one.
We got rain again. Don't know how much yet.
Hubby asked me question. How much snow does an inch of
rain make? I have no idea? Do you?

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, this is what I found:
if 10 inches of snow fell and that snow was melted it would produce 1 inch of liquid precipitation in the rain gauge.
