Elizabeth
Mary is the one that I e-mailed to find out how to up-grade. She told me to just send $10 more and she will up-grade me. If I don't hear from her by morning, I will e-mail her, again. I'm really excited , and can hardly wait.
Dee
Dee
I am excited for you, I can just see you planting all those seeds, that you're going to get, they also have bonus seeds
where did Charlene disappear too? I bet she's having her dinner
Elizabeth
I bet she is having dinner, or she hit the sack early and forgot to tell us goodnight. You know how forgetful us old folks can be.I can hardly wait to get my hands on some of those seeds...they are from some of the best hybridizers(misp) around! How many do they usually send of each kind that you chose. Also, didn't you tell me that they have drawings or contests, or something.
Dee
Wonder where Kim and Debra are tonight?
Dee
Dee
it's a seed draw, that you can do every 3 months, I think it's about 5 packs, then you get the bonus seeds also
I wonder where Kim & Debra is too, they might just be busy, this time of the year is a busy time, hey I had to go to the bank awhile ago to get some money, I don't keep cash on me, anyway I stopped to get some instant lottery tickets
I bought 4 dollars worth, the first & second was $3.00 winners, then the 3rd one I won $100.00 for a dollar, so for $4.00
I won $107.00 great too win that, my shopping is done
Elizabeth
Wow! Great win Elizabeth. Congratulations! I know that had to make your day!
I have to go grocery shopping for candy making supplies, sometime this week. My daughter is coming over this week-end, and we are making candy together.I do love making Christmas goodies. My middle daughter always tells me to make smaller buckeyes and I tell her that I don't know how...lol
Dee
Dee
that's great, I love buckeye's, my BF has made me a goodie box for some years now, that's my favorite gift, cookies
pecan tarts & buckeyes, I buy her plants in the spring, I bet you & your DD a blast, that sounds like sooo much fun
my DD is doing Christmas dinner at her house, I make cake logs, I make 2 of them but it's never enough, so this year
I am making 3 of them, & a few other goodies, so she don't have to make desserts
Elizabeth
My youngest daughter and I share most of the cooking on Thanksgiving and Christmas, since the other two come in from out of town.sometimes, it gets kinda hairy, trying to get the dates figured out, when we can all get together, but it is so much fun, doing Christmas with the grandkids. This year our date centered around when we could get our GGD.
Dee
Dee
I tried to have it early, but that's a no go, we have to work around my SIL's work, they depend on him sooo much because he's a hard worker, I just hope my DD gets to come in from Ga, it is nice when you can get them all together
I still can't believe you have a GGD, she looks like a doll, she is sooo pretty, I can just see her roll her eyes & get anything she wants
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, I am gonna get off of here and hit the bed, since I have to get up early tomorrow. Hope you'll be on tomorrow evening.Talk to you then.Night.
Dee
Hope that your DD in Ga. makes it Elizabeth.Yes, Skylar has us all wrapped around her little finger. We all just adore her!
Goodnight, Elizabeth.
Dee
Good night Dee
sleep well, talk to you tommorrow evening
Elizabeth
Hi girls. Hope you are all doing fine. I am just buzy.
I start commenting all of your posts!
Elizabeth, great plant (the first picture)!
Charleen, I also love the new orleans lady bloom! It's gorgeous!
What does NOL stand for??? I don't know. I am sorry.
Dee, do you always lay down your cuttings to root. I have them vertical in the soil.
What do you mean by Log method, Has that something to do with the laying cutting?
I use superol in water to prevent rotting with my cuttings. I don't know if you have that there? But it works great. Also for seedlings.
Ken, you have very small cuttings. I think short and thick is better than long and thin (OMG what am I saying!!...sound very wrong LOL) But thin cuttings loose too much water I think.
I also have a young sanguinea. Next spring/summer I hopefully can trade cuttings of that one! And of many others!!
We still didn't have any frost here. But they say that from monday it is going to freeze here at night. It's been raining here for a few days now. Then I like a little bit of frost better!
Never new that superspot is almost red. Would like to have one of those too someday.
I also got a few cuttings of gordon last week. They look great. I suppose they took a long time to get here. But there where also coming roots out of them. He packed them in really great! A wet (???) paper towel around the lower end and a lot of tape around it. They were still moist. But looking great with little roots! I hope they will survive!
Dee, I also dig up my banana's every year. I cut of the leaves and take of almost al the roots. And then I lay them on a dark attick. I spring I take them off the attick and put them in soil. No problem at all. Be sure they are very dry when you put them away this manner.
Next year they grow even bigger!
Ken I would love to have a black thai banana one day. We can't get them here.
The cutting I got from you girls are doing fine. I lost two of them. I will write it down tomorrow which ones. I have that standing on a file in my telephone.
Now I am going to watch a movie. The proposal with sandra bullock. I hope it is funny!
Bye Jori

Jori, so glad to hear from you!!
NOL = New Orleans Lady
Well that's what i think it is.
Almost feels Tropical today, after all that rain yester. Then cold weather is
coming in with the wind. We have been told. Have 68 f. Tropical.
Sign not good for anything, so didn't plant anything. Wanted too....
but didn't.
Charleen
Hi Jori! We missed you.Glad that you are back, with us.A log is what you see in the pic, it is just a nice thick cutting. The log in the pic is the only one that I have started like this. All the others, I have started upright. I just had to try it.
Dee
The movie was funny. Now I am going to sleep. It's very late here already.
Charleen 68 f . Is it spring there already????? It was 50 f here today. But from monday it is going to be 30 f at night and 38 or so at daytime. It is difficult for me to read about these temperatures because everything goed here in celcius. I have to calculate everything.
Charleen your both cuttings made it. They already have rooted.
Very good!! Jori. I am so glad. No, in a week or so it will be officially winter. It is just unusally warm. Cold front is coming in. Then it is going to be cold. I am not looking forward to it. Some areas up north and outwest are having some Serious Snowfall.
So glad the cuttings made roots.
Charleen
Charleen , is it windy, where you live? It was raining this morning, then it turned to snow, before noon. It has quit snowing for now, but the wind is horrible. It is 21 degrees and my daughter had to leave her car at work in Indianapolis, because the lock was frozen, and she couldn't get it un-locked.
Dee
She needs to carry a can of de-icer with her in that kind of weather. I used too when I lived in MO. I sure don't miss that at all either.
Used Perfume a couple of times too. It rained all night, and this morning the temp. was up to 60f. I couldn't believe it, it felt like Spring. But the wind was blowing and they are calling for it to get colder. I sure don't look forward to that. The Brugs outside finally got Frosted, poor things look horrible.
Charleen
Sorry to hear about your brugs getting frost bit, but its that time of year, isn't it.
That's what I told her..about carrying de-icer.AHHHHH 60 degrees...is it Spring yet?
Dee
Good evening
I hibernate in this kind of weather, the wind is blowing, & it's snowing, it doesn't look like it's sticking, but when the night time temps drop, it will be cold, it has gotten colder earlier than it did last winter, I dread the utility bill, if this keeps up
Dee, I am sorry to hear about your DD having to leave her car there
Elizabeth
Can't stand winter weather.
Charleen
Charlene
did you cut them all the way back, that helps, they do look sad when they get frost bit
Elizabeth
I don't go out any more than I have to in this weather. That wind just cuts right through you.Isn't great that we all still have something green to look at?
Dee
Not yet. Got to go running around again for SIL tomarrow so will be getting up early.
Wish the dear would get her son a car to drive.
Charleen
Dee
it sure is, I can't imagine a winter without my plants, I have had plants in the house for 36 yrs. it's just been the last 8 yrs
that my DH loves them as much as I do
Elizabeth
Charlene
you just can't get a break, you have to get up early every morning, this morning I slept in, last night when I got off here I shampooed my carpet, so I was up late
Elizabeth
I know you are tired too, Elizabeth. I did sleep late this morning, but not tomarrow. Been a busy day, Mop the floor and vacuumed , just don't like to do either, but had to do it. Couldn't stand it any more. Rather work with my plants.
Charleen
Yep, you are a busy woman, Charleen. At least you enjoy her company.
I have to shampoo carpets next week. Not a job that I enjoy at all.
Dee
Girls we don't like housework but we're the only ones that can do it right, so I guess we have to do it, it would be better
to have 70 degree & all our tropicals in the ground to smell that wonderful scent, can't wait till spring
Elizabeth
You're right about that Elizabeth. If you want it done right, better do it ourselves..
I just know that this is gonna be the longest winter ever..lol... I am so ready to be out there planting tropicals.
Dee
Dee
do you have one of those digital photo's, I have one my SIL bought me for mothers day, it has Pic's of the snow we had in Feb, & the spring Pic's just when I planted everything outside, it's nice to watch it show all those Pic's it also has all my girls & all the GK's on it, I keep it on all the time
Elizabeth
No, Elizabeth, I don't have one, but I used to have my screensaver set with a slide show of the yard. Might have to do that again.
Dee
hey, Charleen, do you make pralines? If so do you have a favorite recipe for them?
Dee
Dee
has Charlene, left us, hopefully she'll join us tommorrow evening, are pralines easy or hard to make? I bake pies & cakes, my BF makes the candy
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, last year was the first year, that I made them and they turned out good for me. I don't remember them being very hard, but if I remember right, it was like old fashioned fudge, where you had to cook it to the soft ball stage.Everyone loved them last year, and I want to make them again, but I lost the recipe that I used, and there are a blue million praline recipes out there..lol
Dee
Isn't it funny that we all have our own specialty when it comes to cooking. I love making candies and cookies, and fancy little appetizers, and my daughter loves to bake cakes and pies, which I am not great at...lol
Dee
it is funny, how we are better at different things, my oldest GD is really good baking breads, I love when she makes them for me, but I have to bake her a pie all to herself for the Holidays Dee can you goggle the recipe?
Elizabeth
