(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Duke is going to be 15 this christmas day.. he has huge tumors on his chest and up his neck, I expect we will be having sad times with him after christmas.. vet says he is on his last set of wheels.. ( car talk) we have already had cancer taken off him elsewhere.. three years ago. He is my last baby.

I have a 5 gal. Bucket from a fellow that hauls sand. I will add that to my potting soil, that will help it drain.
I have plants everywhere. In Liquor boxes, they throw the boxes away and I drive by and get them
I'm getting a lot of boxes and plants. Long time til Spring and Brugs are growing. Do you all put the Brugs in soil as soon as the roots form in the water?

if I used the saw horses, my DH would have my head, he's funny about his tools, I use an old rod iron sewing base with marble on top of it, I bought a 6ft piece of marble at auction for $15.00, had lowes cut it in half, they do that for free
they have a wet saw

Same here Debra...whatever works...lol...I'll have to take a pic sometime of what I call the incubater. It is our master bath/ laundry room but it only has a tub, no shower, so we really only use it for night calls, if ya get my drift. My DH built a grow stand on the old tub...heavy plywood, with a light stand on top of it.I keep a small heater and a humidifyer going in there..just for the new cuttings and if need be, I can pull the shower curtain, to hide the stand and plants...lol

I left my sticks in the bubbler all winter last year.. they did fine.. I have about 6 sticks in bubbler now, all the others have been stuck in boxes, cups, pots, tubs anything .. until I have time after holidays to re-group so to speak..

I do, I noticed that some clippings I had put in a glass container in an inch of water, I put it on top of my tall stand forgot about it they rooted in about a week, I guess the reason they rooted quickly because heat rises
Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

the ones that are woodier root faster also I noticed. ihave well water, no chemicals, add a dash of Peroxide to water and they are sending out nubbies.
Got to get up early tomarrow so better get off and go to bed.
Talk to you all later.

Elizabeth, I have a cutting "tagged X. Candida Double white" and another tagged just "double white."They came from 2 different people, but I'm thinking they are probably the same ...guess I will see when they bloom.
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
I bet they are they same, yes you will see when they bloom, it will be interesting to see, Angels moonlight was white when it first bloomed, then when it bloomed in the basement it was orange color
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

My angel's moonlight cutting that you sent is just sitting there, doing nothing for now, but it appears healthy...not a bit soft, or dried up. I sure hope it takes off. I have had a couple others do the same thing, and they are ok now...just slow. I thought yours was beautiful!
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
if it doesn't do well for you, I'll send you a couple more cuttings in the spring, in may is the best time to ship after mothers day, then all you have to do is put it in the ground
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Bless your heart Elizabeth. I'm hoping it is just a slow one.... I am just glad that come Spring, that I will have some to share with you, too.
I didn't have time to look for Monica's site today, but I did find a picture of her brug hedge. It's just amazing!

I can't wait til Christmas is over and the stores bring back out the garden stuff. I am ready to start laying in the MG fertalizer. I need a new MG sprayer, too, and Preen. I wanta be ready..lol
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
that's the one I like, that's what I want mine too look like all the way down the yard, I also have 2 Banana trees, I will put in the ground, I bought those at the end of the season, got a really good deal on them, they look so tropical, had to have them
Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Dee
the stores, should put out their gardening stuff as quickly as they put out their Christmas display, they would sell a lot more, if they started in January, go figure why they don't
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I have a couple bananas growing too. They are small, and I hope I can keep them going thru the winter.
I told my DH, that I want the outside of our fence to look like that...lol. Does she dig those every year too? I told DH that I think she does.
dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
she does dig those by herself, the difference is she plants the pot also, & uses a hand truck to take them to the GH
my DD was over in Germany for 3 yrs while her DH was stationed there, they get snow just like we do, I would like to learn her secret to getting them to grow that big
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes, they are huge, aren't they? Do you know what size pots she uses? Also does she root prune every year at digging time? I know she puts the holes in the pots for the roots to grow out of.
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
by looking at the size of her Brugs, I would think they would have to be in big pots, like over 20 gal. the bigger the pot the bigger the plant, don't you wish you could go over there just once, to see it in person, she would almost have to root prune
Elizabeth

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm just dropping in for a second, I am ready for bed, hard day. But I read something about Bananas.

Hi Ken
love your bananas, they look so tropical, do you leave yours inground? I hope mine look like that next summer
if you're going to bed have a good nights rest
Elizabeth

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

These are going to make a fine Banana Split when they ripen. These are Oronacos, small but sweet. I did not get many of my nanas in this year so I may loose a few, I did bring in Black Thai.

Charlene
I am always ready for spring, I think we are going to have a cold winter, last year we had a couple days, it was 50 daytime high, I don't think we're going to get that this year, it's colder earlier, we have to keep our plants growing
I have a christmas about to bloom when it does I will post pic's
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Hello girls, it is raining here too. I do have to get up early tomorrow, but I usually get up early anyway..lol.Every Wednesday, our SIL has a meeting at school, and he has to leave about 20 minutes before the school bus gets there to pick up the GK's, so we go over and get them on the bus on Wed.
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
Hi, we take our 8yr old GD to & from school also, there's no bus pick up here
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Is the school close? I don't care how close it is, I would take her too!
I just up-graded my membership over yonder..lol
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
it's too close for bus pick up, we would rather take & bring her, good for you, did you see all the new seeds they have to offer, now is a good time to get them, while they are fairly new
