Brugmansia Blooming in a vase

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I believe the seedling is dying . it is wilted and I cant get it to do anything. I want to get some vermiculite before I start the next Bunch of seeds. thwy say it helps to keep them from dying and I am going to try it.That is one reason I uded to not plant seed but have more timenow and maybe I can get them to live. I hope so, anyhow. They have a Greenhouse like yours at Lowes but it didn't have the heat pad. It wasn't a Ferry morse either. I'm still looking. Joe's Wife gave me a little bit of a brug but it dried up and died. I feel so bad, it died but the other one is doing fine so far. I'm watching it. That is my MAYA.

Which brugs did you get Charleen?
Elizabeth, after we clebrate Christmas with the kids(on the 19th), I am gonna set up another grow light. Mine are full up and I know I am going to need to move some of the cuttings up to gallon pots.I am going to set it up on my sewing machine table...tells how much I plan on sewing..lol
Oh darn, I forgot to go to the basement and water the geraniums, lantana, etc.I usually do it on the 1st of each month.I'll have to do that tomorrow.

I am sorry that your baby brug didn't make it, one Brug I have trouble with is an arborea, for some reason that one wants to dry up on me, I have had 2 of them do that, some are harder to work with than others
Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

But I got oodles of others. There are lots of pretty brugs. Someone had a nearly RED one. It was so pretty.
Know I couldn't afford that one. Then there was a Yellow and an Orange that was drop-dead gorgeous.

so I have to clean it about 3 times a year too keep it looking nice, when are you starting your seeds?
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, didn't I send you a cutting of Dola? It gets pretty dark. I think I red that it gets almost tomato red....I think it was Dola, anyway

The brug seeds? I have started all that I have, but Brenda made an offer on the GW, for some for postage. I will probably wait til Feb to start those.I will start the wave petunias, the first week in March. I know I will have to line up even another grow light later on, too..I definately need a room just for growing plants..lol
I think I am going to e-mail the other forum, and see if I can just up-grade my memebership now, by just sending them another$10...even if the they end it on the original date, I would be happy.

there are some new seeds just added over there, I have my pollen in the freezer, it last a long time that way, I want to start crossing some of my Brugs, just as soon as they bloom in the spring
Elizabeth

I am sooo glad you have that done, most of mine was done in september, as well as my GS's graduation gift, but this week end mine is done also, since I have allready bought for the 2, 8yr olds, I have their presents hidden, I have some nice empty boxes under the tree, so they can't sneak a peek, I will bring their presents out Christmas eve

Boy, girls, there are a lot of pretty double whites, aren't there. Elizabeth, I just looked up your "double enchanted white".It sure is a pretty one. I think I will depend on others crosses for a while..lol...Too new yet to try crossing anything. But, I can't wait to hear which ones you cross Elizabeth!
Charleen, are you running out of room yet?..lol...inside I mean? Is your shredded white getting any leaves yet?

Hi Debra

HHG? whats that?

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I have to pick up some "littlest pet shops" for one of the GD's and a few Walmart gift cards, and I am done. After I am done buying for everyone, I always pick up a few Walmart gift cards, in case any extras show up for Christmas at Grandmas...Seems like there is always someones girlfriend or someone that someone works with, that decides to come at the very last minute and I don't want them to not have anything to open, when all the other kids are opening like crazey..
I won't put the presents under the tree, until that morning, because of these silly dogs. Can't trust them outta your sight.

there are a lot of nice white Brugs, Bon Bon is also a double white, double enchanted white didn't start really growing till september, so it's only about 3ft tall, but when it goes in the ground it will take off
Elizabeth

Debra
HHG- herrinhauser garten, it's a stubborn one, I am not wasting time on a picky brug, so I got a langenbuschers garten
it has the same double orange bloom as HHG, but is eaiser to grow& bloom
Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

ahhh I see.. well I like them even when they don't bloom, cuz the leaves are "pettable" LOL

Hamilton, OH

Debra
I like your basement set up, in your photo, it looks like you have your plants a lot closer to the light, than I do, it looks good, are you as hard to find as I am in the winter? here they have to check the basement & the attic, I have plants up there also
Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Debra
have you counted your Brugs, at the end of summer I had 52, big Brugs, that wasn't counting all the seedlings, or the clippings, next spring I will have to use my DD's yard as well as mine, but it's O.K. she loves them too, & it's good advertizement for me, she lives on a busy street, this past summer I sold some huge brugs because I had some planted in her yard
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Is it Insignia Pink, Or Insignia gold, or Insignia Yellow?
I believe I have all three colors, Let me knowif you need one you don't have,Debra.
Those are Beautiful, Dee.
Those brugs are rooted. Do I water them in?
Now I have to put them in pots. Kim sent them to me.
Help, need advice.

Dee
looking good there girl, I was checking on a grow stand, for the price they're asking I could buy another GH or a heater to put in mine, Dee your plants look really healthy, glad you got your DH fed, they get cranky when they don't get their food on time
Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I have not counted my brugs yet.. this is only my second year for them. In 08 I had one in the summer, in 09 I had about 13, I give mine away alot, but now I need to count .. I keep alot of lights on, they have to come down the stairs to talk to me, I have three growing rooms down there..

when I pot mine up I water them good, just make sure it drains well, put them near a light source, then leave them alone
they can stand to be on the dry side more than they can being over watered
Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I have run out of potting mix, so will hold off on planting more until i restock, which won't be until after the ice and snow has blown away..I think I have two insignias, need to go take inventory, but when I go down there I get "lost"

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

this is the main area.. up there east and west facing south.. , but the growing area is extended farther north up both walls now..

this is in what used to be my sons' bedroom down stairs.. it leaks all the time, he has a really nice place now, so I don't worry he will be moving back home..

Debra
I am the same way, you see a leaf that needs taking off, they need to be watered, or you have to change them around so they all get light, then the family comes looking for you
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra, what a wonderful grow area!It is all beautiful! I would get lost down there too.
Elizabeth, that grow stand is made from two metal saw horses, an old wooden door and two by fours up the side and across the top to hold the shop light (4 lighter)..works great for me..lol
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

What kind of potting soil? Should I mix sand in it??
Charleen

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

elizabeth.. YUP!! LOL.. even my Duke dog gets tired of following me up and down..

Debra
they usually have light fixtures on sale around this time of year, I am adding 2 more lights, so I can get the plants closer to them, you're doing really well to just be growing your Brugs for the second season, it only take a little while for them to start adding up, the tree size you can let go dormant, I have 4 tree size behind my furnace that get no light, I only water them once a month 1 cup of water
Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Dee u and I are soul sisters, I use two saw horses and some plywood.. two storage barrells and some left over paneling LOL ANYTHING I can get to hold plants will work for me.. charleen, sand is good on top, it keeps fungus gnats down.. I am getting some more, I add one bag of fine sand to my mix and sprinkle some on top.. I do not reccomend moisture control.. it is horrible for me here..

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Debra, how old is Duke? I had a beagle hound, they are great.
He is is beaglehound heaven, now. He was an old dog.
Charleen

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I have about 6 trees around here, some I am letting go dormant, some I am wanting to bloom for me around january..
