It's cold here too, at 11 it was 25*

Well went to the dr and spent 3 hours getting x-rays and blood work, he's 95% sure I have gout with a 5% possibility it could be Morton's neuroma. I have to get some Prednisone filled today and he said that the acids might may or may not be high in the blood if it's gout. The best way to tell is when I'm finished taking the Presnisone if it's gout it will more than likely be gone until who knows when, if it's Morton's neuroma it will come right back, immediately. I'm rooting for the gout because I really don't want to get a shot in the nerve, right in the thickest part of my foot, and it's deep too.

oh Trisha - (((((((Trisha))))))) I'm worry to hear you've lost a member of your family.
You said it so simply and quietly, without fuss, but I'm sure you must be upset.
17 years is a long time to have someone in your household and I know you will miss your Cockatiel. What was his/her name?

Hope - I sent the poem on to my boss. He's in the Naval Reserves, and he has 3 sons in the Navy.
I know he'll like it too.

Crissy, if it is gout, red meats affect the uric acids, as well as any type of alchohol. Hope they figure it out soon.

OUCH Crissy........ I've only known one person with gout, and it was a lot of "have to sit and put my foot up" .......... not a pleasnt thing either, cuz it's painful.

Crissy, Kel has gout too. He's taking Allupurinol.
LK is right, high uric acid is the main culprit. It's not red meat that's giving him gou and he doesn't do alcohol....but it's his addiction to sodas. He doesn't drink water but 2 liters of Diet 7up a day!!! Now he's pretty worried if he doesn't keep his addiction under control, he might get kidney stones too.

If it's Morton... then Crissy, you might have to start using wider shoes for some relief. If the pain persists, I understand that surgery is also recommended to take care of that thickening around the affected nerve.

I do hope it's gout for you.

Ok.. back to that obligatory housework.. now I can entertain myself watching the clothes wash and dry :D

Just a brief stop-in to say hi! Have not been on computer much this week and won't try to catch up tonite!

Donna--Ladybug has been missing since Monday and I have been beside myself with worry and grief. She was always waiting for me when I came home (no matter what time of day) and insisting it was "time to feed the kitty"! She had come so far from being basically a feral kitten and going thru having kittens when she was so young, She had done so well and become so sweet and loving after the litter and having her spayed.. SHe loved the outside, especially if I was in the yard--she would follow me everywhere and try to impress me with chasing lizards, squirrels and butterflies. (never caught anything, but enjoyed the fun of playing!) Please say a prayer that she is OK and hopfully will find her way home.

I am rather devastated tonite - I miss her so much!

Hi all just a quick check in. Ha you think it's cold, three days in a row it was 16 outside. There is ice everywhere, the fish ponds have a thin layer on top poor fish are hardly swimming they are so cold. We are getting more snow tonight. This is very unusal for us. Then it is to start raining Friday and POURING rain for Saturday. OH MAN!! Floods in the valley for sure. Busy making more candles and sewing Barbie clothes. Went to Target and got me a new Kodak Easy Share camera on sale for $89 LOVE IT. Went back and got another one for my daughter.
OK gotta go cook Beef Strogenoff (Sp) mom made some garlic bread in the machine yum yum

I wear rounded shoes, I don't wear pointed toe shoes at all, haven't in over 10 years because it was making my big toe crooked so I quit. I also have calluses on the bottom of my right foot on the ball, so I can't wear heals more than 2 days a week. At home I wear tennis shoes. It was funny, I looked at the dr and said, "I'm too young for this &*^^'" He laughed and said, "Well, yes you are." I told him I don't want to get any older, I'm scared!

I have swelling and it's radiating some heat, Morton's doesn't do that.

Trisha I'm so sorry about Petey. I know he'll be missed and thoughts and prayers are going out to you and your family.
