That was my mom that got the Camry...she bought it, I just helped pick it out....me? I couldn't afford the tax and license much less the car. But I do get to drive it and it is really neat!
All that wonderful candy talk and I am on a diet:( But I have lost 5 pounds since Thanksgiving:)

Good Evening Ladies!!
Donna--I am glad Trina is coming around and hope Teara figures it out one day soon! I am sure Max is tickled that Trina does want to spend time with your family.
I can't believe you gals in TX are getting snow!!! Yikes! I would not be surprised if we get some this year--it's been 10 years but we are due!
The Truffles recipe sounds great and easy!! Thanks for posting!! I was going to make cookies and brownies today but got sidetracked.
Yesterday was cold, wet and dreary so I finished pulling out more Christmas decorations and did some inside projects that I had put off. Today was sunny but cold - however I did get out and bought some border pavers to outline an area I am going to put my Victorian bench once it gets painted and delivered. I got them in place and now just have to get the rock to go inside the border. My friend Lori painted another one but I have decided on blues/teals/geens rather than the orange combination. Shown below) I can sit and admire my fountain/statue (when warmer weather gets here!!)
I also got some plants moved to the GH area but will wait til it gets a little colder before I tuck them in for the winter. I watered plants in the GHs today since they did not have the benefit of the rains we had for 2 days. I have been working on painting some stepping stones that are very detailed. If they come out half decent I will post pics once they are finished
I continue to keep Aaron in my prayers and hope he makes a full recovery--I am sure it will take some time but God does take us under his arms and protects us.
I bought some fresh flounder today and am going to cook that for dinner along with asparagas and cheddar potatoes with a Klondike bar for dessert. I will probably be in bed shortly after I eat!!!!
Happy 2nd Sunday in Advent, sistahs! Itotally missed the 1st Sunday.
we visited a church we hadn't visited for about 5 years. just around the corner fromus here. we don't have a home church since wemoved in 2004. Saw twoof my exercise buds there. The church was muchnicer than Irecalled. we maygive it another try. They have a HUGE pipe organ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ Ididn't remember! Can't believe I'dforgot that! the service was all music, readings, and communion- absolutely lovely.
took my parents and Ruth to Terri's Christmas open house. Eva, Terri's mom, is my mom's old real estate co-worker/dear friend. So we were among many friends. 3 of her family members and a friend have all been my real estate clients. Such good eats -came homewith a few new recipes. I just cut up fruit and added brandy, ginger ale and marachino cherries. wanted something a bit healthier.
my aunt Polly is on death's door after a full life. but she's in a nursing home, down to 99 lbs and is now refusing to eat. Alshiemers. (sp?) We are on hold awaiting the call to come for funeral at Ebenezzar Church in New Albany, Miss. I've volunteered to drive Dad down. Am still slowly realizing the parental units inabilities at this point. Dad is so tickled I'd volunteer!

Susan its good to hear that your trip went well.. This will be our first year back in the ice and Im already lookin for weight to throw in the truck bed and luckily we have good tires..
Trisha that car sounds like a winner.. camrys are nice cars.. My grandmother loved hers for a long time until she wasnt able to drive anymore..
Linda... Good to see you are keeping up with the thread.. I told you it wouldnt be as hard as it looks.. Besides these great ladies know we cant keep up with all the chatter.. I love that design with the blend of colors... So pretty and I bet your hummers will like it too.. Maye plant a scarlet runner vine near it for a color flow.. Very pretty
Bon glad to hear you re-discovered your old church.. I need to go visit our old church here in town and maybe attend with my dads mom on christmas.. I dont know we will see what life brings us between now and then.
Will say a prayer for your aunt Polly to go peacefully and without anymore suffering. It doesnt make things easier but please know Im here if you need someone to talk to..
Well Trinas mom just called and said she was on her way so Im going upstairs for a few minutes before she goes... Heres a pic of Trina all snug as a bug in her new coat..
It is cold here. Now I now some of you think 60 degrees isn't cold, but for us spoiled people it is time for extra warm clothes. My brugs don't seem to mind it though. Went out to find they are doing better than I am. Have been waiting for rain for the last several days, the aches in my legs say it should be soon. I guess it is time to clean out the furnace and turn it on. I'm usually the one who complains but DH says he is freezing. The sun does come out, but not enough to warm it up very much.
Copied that truffles recipe down to add to my every growing recipe book. I use to do a lot of Christmas baking, but everyone complains that they are trying to lose weight so I gave it up. But, would be a nice small gift for the fortunate ones who don't worry about weight.
Donna, not our old church. Just one wevisited about 5 years ago and said "whoa, no way" and never went back. oh dear, the pastor was that.....um.....boring.... Am going to give them another chance. I think it's the same fella, but I'mnot sure.
sweet dreams, sweet sistahs. the eyes theyare aclosing.
Hello all!
I copied the Truffles recipe - going to put some in the baskets I'm making for gifts - Thank you so much for the recipe, Kathy!
Niters all - got to get to work early tomorrow to decorate our floor's Christmas Tree! ^_^
Good Morning Ladies,
Snow! Snow! Snow! it has been snowing here since about 2 am and is to snow all day long. We are to get at least 10 inches. This is rare for us. It even snowed down in the valley which is really rare the last time they got snow was in 1988 they got 3". It is snowing down to the 500 elevation and they are getting about 6" today. I was going to be babysitting my granddaughter because she is sick, but I don't think my daughter is even going to get to work. All schools are closed.
I tried to take pictures at the light parade but my camera is not very good. Here is a link to the local paper. If you look at the pictures you will see my grandson Kain playing the symbols in his high school band.
http://auburnjournal.com/detail/136916.html
Oh my goodness Cindy. Sounds like everyone is haveing wierd weather this year? Stay warm. Hope you have your plants protected? Did you have a good time at the parade?
Morning everyone. Coffee is on!
Morning Glory!
you know, LK, it is weird. September and October were so cold and dry there were no roses to enter into the State Fair. then November was so warm and wet, gardenias and azaleas popped into bloom!
It's COLD out there. Killer frost last night, hazy white sky this morning. It LOOKS cold. [snow in CA, Cindy?!] you can see frost killed camellia blooms in our livingroom window. It was just about to pop into full bloom, Christmas red with white streaks. Will have to let the truck warm up before going to class in an hour. this truck does not like cold weather.
Didn't want to get out of bed this morning. Don't want to get going outside to work. It's a hot oatmeal and hot chocolate kind of day.
We usually dont get snow until Jan and then it's just a dusting. I do remember one year it snow the day after Christmas but it didn't stick. I was wrong about the time. It started at about 9 30 last night. It is starting to snow some more. You can see how deep it is. This is a water fountain sitting on the patio.
Cindy, that is a beautiful picture, hope it melts soon!
Bon, that is really wierd, that you all had no roses for the fair. How strange!
Hello ladies.
Sorry I wasn't able to get online yesterday. It was late when we return, and furbabies demanded attention.
The Christmas 'concert' went well last night. The star guest singer was Keith Plott. He used to sing with The Cathedrals. Man... he has some pipes!
We had fellowship after that.. or non-Baptists will call it "Overeating".
Preacher had asked for 'finger foods', not assigning who bring what. The table would have been laden with only cookies and cakes if not for our solitary pan of Teriyaki chicken on sticks! You can hear the sighs of relief...especially from the men :D
Thank you for that recipe Sis Kathy. Looks easy like you said. So what are you making today? If it's gumbo, I'm bringing the potato salad.
Susan, glad you made it home safely. I had to explain to Kel how you had to have some weight in the back of your truck. He says he doesn't plan to move anywhere up north soon...
Linda, I love that Victorian bench!! You do awesome work!! I'd probably place a simple arbor over it, and have some old fashioned damask roses trailing along it. Waiting on pics of your stepping stones.
Bon, I hear you sistah. Growing older also means relinquishing some of your indepence. Your parents are so lucky to have responsible and caring children. Be sure to let us know when you're leaving.
Be praying that your Aunt Polly joins our Lord with minimal pain.
By the way, the roses in my garden were dismal this year. Frost killed the buds on most of my camellias too. Luckily, there's one that bloomed just in time, before the frost hits.
GO TO CHURCH, Donna!!! God will be beaming to see you and your family in His house of worship ;)
Trina looks so happy in that pic. Proud of you and Max!!
I've been turning my side of the electric blanket on, Pegi. Thank God for dual control. Kel still goes around with shorts and short sleeved t-shirt...outside.
Oh my... keep the snow, Cindy!!! I know how you get claustrophobic staying indoors too long... but do so please!!! I'm sure you can find lots to do indoors.
Yes that picture of the iced fountain is beautiful.
You could use it in the DG photo competition next year.
Well LK, I thought I could send out more boxes today. But it's too dreary cold for me to leave the house again!!!!!
This morning, we had to bring our oldest cat, Rimau to the vet. Since summer, he's been losing weight, in spite of having an appetite of an elephant! Now he's getting close to skeletal, so I'm not about to risk losing him.
Vet says he got thyroid issues. So, we have to apply some meds topically, and hopefully that will bring his 'thyroid points' down. Supposed to be 4, and it's a 7. No vets around here for a faster treatment, and that's radiation.
Without radiation, the cost to treat him is already in the hundreds, and Papa Kel says Rimau is worth not getting his Paltop!! Serious, that's what Kel says at the vet!!! Had to explain to the vet's assistants what he meant!!
So, without knowing it, you LK had just whipped up a new computer lingo and it's spreading here!!
Still enjoying the Camry, Trisha?
Maid M... whoooohooooo.... hope you get some rest...
Our sistahs are great ladies when it comes to aging parents. You all certainly have stepped up to the plate ;) Proud of you all.
sis, gumbo sounds good!
Would you believe that my ex.. that Cajun... who had been wedded to me for 25 years, called me up for a gumbo recipe?????
I gave him the ingredients needed, but he wanted directions!!! So I told him.. first, you BUY a bottle of Savoie's Roux!
a cajun that can't make roux? never heard of such a thing.
Yep, all the while I was the one stirring the roux on the stove.
I bet Mike can make a good roux, huh?
LOL - a cajun without roux? the world's gonna end! y'all are going to make me hungry again....yum, gumbo.
well, I'm sitting here looking outside....I did get my rear over to exercise, then stayed an extra 30 mins. of the next class, too. told myself it was so I didn't have to go outside to work today. told another gal in class, "wish someone had explained about aging that about the time my nest was empty, my parents needs would take the place of the kids..."
That truck still full is bugging me. there's another wreath maker on craigslist today, but this one is for $100. it looks super sturdy, though, like a home built table. guess I can't go buy anything else if that darn truck is full....
This message was edited Dec 7, 2009 1:59 PM
no, he3 can't. i make the roux
It is cold here, 50 degrees, and some rain finally. Just a nice slow rain, not looking forward to any heavy storms. So glad we don't get snow, but that one you sent Cindy was beautiful. I love to see the snow fall, but inside the house. Was looking forward to rain, but not today since I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Maybe it will stop by then....I hope so anyway.
I find Cajun food is a little too spicy for me, and I do love Mexican food so I should be used to spicy. There was an old guy on TV that used to cook Cajun food, he was so funny too.
Well, off to my weekly trip to thrift store and then doctor so better bundle up since it is cold, just so it doesn't get any colder.
Hey Jaye, glad you had a great concert last night. Sorry to hear about rimoau being sick. Hope the meds help him. Never heard of a kitty with thyroid problems, but I guess it is possible. Hope you get your "paltop" soon!
Pegi, you're talking of Justin Wilson.
I have an easy Mexican recipe for you. My quick version of Carnitas.
About 2 pounds of pork chunks. A can of chilli verde. Some seasonings, and 1 tbsp. of cumin powder.
Place the meat in a pyrex dish, pour chilli verde over the meat. Mix well with the cumin and your own brand of salt seasoning.
Cover and bake at 350 for a couple of hours.
Bon, ignore the truck. But if you can't resist getting another wreathmaster.. we won't hold you back :D
I'll have the other pc returned soon LK, so, we won't be putting up with this much longer.
"Of course God created men before women.
You always make a rough draft before the Masterpiece!"
Ooohh Gumbo sounds wonderful....anything Hot sounds wonderful! It was 12* here last night, suppose to warm up to 36* today and tomorrow. Bbrrrrrrr!
Yes she is loving the Camry....got the Ford signed over to the shop guy that is taking it so we are good to go!
Need to go the store, have a load of stuff for Goodwill, and lot more sorting and cleaning to do. will check in later.
ignored the truck, don't think I'll buy another wreathe master, I've not slowed down enough to make even the first wreathe yet with this one! knew I didn't feel well. Now the headache from hell. when I was in thesteamroom after class today, I felt so good didn't want to leave. so am thinking = sinuses.
took a page from Trisha's book - cleaned. Cleared out the laundry room. Put the new clothing rack [craigslist] near the dryer so now can hang clothes from it immediately. Never have had a hanging bar near the dryer before, this is going to make for a less wrinkled Masteller family! It's has wheels, so we can move it to get into the cupboards behind. Underneath all the junkand clutter, found seven long missing items. Have to: cut down the fiberglass insulation (got wet) from the overhead ducts, cut out the rest of the ceiling sheetrock (got wet), replace both, seal, paint..... another day.
Coming home yesterday, I put summer sausage and swiss cheese in with the Ritz crackers. Dumb. they went soft. Found 2 lbs of burger that needed cooking, so...meatloaf for dinner! And before we could leave, Mom handed me many old bananas - banana bread next. That's after I sit here a minute and try to remember where I put the Excedrin. Got my feet up, hot tea, and my DG buddies.
oh drat - gotta go act like a witch with that knuckleheaded teen....
Night everyone. Sleep tight.
I will be missing tomorrow afternoon, I have to go back to San Angelo, to get the MRI results from the knee specialist! Leaving here about noon, and won't be back till after 9.
LK, good night and have a safe Trip.
Hi everyone! I've missed a whole bunch of stuff in my business. Good Luck with the MRI LK, drive careful!
Love the coat and hat!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! It's just raining here, blah.
Hopefully I'll make it back sometime today.
"Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down.
First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.
Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard."
MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!
ROFLOL Cindy that is priceless!!!!!
Cindy!!!! That is sooooo funny! Love it!
Morning everyone! Anyone have coffee left?
Well ladies, I am getting ready to leave for Dr appointment, so I will catch you all tomorrow.
Be good!
made fude today, and got the chocolate covered pretzels done. now am working on chocolate truffles and truffle cherries
Sounds like you are busy in the kitchen.
Well, my appointment got rescheduled at the last minute to Friday.
ROFLOL Cindy!!!
I'll take some of that candy you're making there... lol
Oh LK, I'm glad you weren't all the way there already, but then of course you could have made a fun day trip out of it I suppose.
OMG Cindy that is too funny! Max is rolling about that one... Very inventive if I must say so myself..
Sorry I havent caught up but its been busy here. Max started night shift last night and our new schedule is ever changing but at least it means a 50cent raise for him.. Trina and Maxs lil brother stayed through he weekend and went home sunday night. Maxs ex wsnt thrilled that I had bought Trina a white coat and I just told her that it was what she wanted and no biggie if it got dirty as long as she was warm.. Once home she called and said that Teara wants to come with her next time.. So Im hoping maybe she has re-thought her descision o be that bratty girl and be a normal daughter again..
Work has been slow but Im there all day none the less. Christmas spirit is picking up and since hunting season is slowing down hopefully business will pick up.. Gonna work on some buisness cards tonight and start handing them out.. Even think I have an idea for a shirt that will draw some attention if I can come up with enough cash to order through vista print.. Doing all I can..
anywho gotta get dinner done.. BBL
DOnna
Coffee this evening anyone? c_/ Darn cold and the rain doesn't help!
Pass some fudge over here sis Kathy :P
That is just too hilarious Cindy!!! I would NOT have attempted to save the guy, but call 911 'cause my feet won't be able to climb those rungs!!
Kel thought it's real too!
Sorry I was missing today. Had to bring FIL to the cancer center and when I returned, did some box packing and returned to the post office.
LK, I wish you all the best for your doctor's visit, sistah. Wonder how much that knee replacement will cost? MIL was told she needs a hip replacement, and she's told it will be around sixty thousand! Yikes, but she has Medicare, so her bill will be 20%.
Donna, you're right. There's always a good cleaner to make that coat look as good as new. It's what Trina wants, not her mama!
Crissy.... I can't believe you're wishing for snow!!! Not this ole lady!!! I like to look at it ---- long distance ---- or on the tv!!!
Trisha, my heart goes out to the victims' families. Nice funeral procession the state had for the cops.
It has been an incredible service...it is still going on... it took almost four hours just for the procession of Police cars to go from Lakewood to Tacoma...about ten miles... almost 20,000 Firemen and Police officers in attendance.....
yup, they are talking about it on the news here, too, Trina.
Hey y'all. first of all, Cindy, I can't wait to show Randall....
busy hectic day. started with finding out today was NOT going to be warm and sunny as predicted. Randall had a lot of dental work today, including extraction. Been driving and supervising his food intake. But I did get that truck cleared out, even swept clean. there was enough cardboard to put between the first two rows and partway down the fenceline, plus enough old newspaper and packing paper to go underneath. There was enough mulch in that one load to cover almost all the cardboard between rows. So it's starting to look like a really nice garden!
It's already raining, it was dark grey and chilly and I've drank soup, hot tea, and meatloaf and potatoes....now I'm on some Baileys to fight off a cold. Randall, who was miserable earlier, now has some "happy" pills which Ipicked up on the way home. both of us are "well" at the moment.
