Best/Worse/What did I learn today?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Linda your knee and my foot! Maybe we should get into a knee and foot fight, they can cure each other! LOL

Yes! Canadian Tire here I come! Eventually!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Now wouldn't that be a site to see? Maybe we could sell tickets! ^_^

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We could! We could!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

no - weather is getting BETTER!! right now it's 2c (PLUS 36F) and it WAS
-30c (Minus 22F) I love Chinooks!!

Betty - your thought my DH was funny re: gift baskets? WELL...... I gave one to each of the four Drs in "my" Division. Dr. Baskin, (when I gave him one), was pleased. When I told him it was homemade (and therefore didn't cost much) thought it was a wonderful idea to give as gifts to all the areas he has under him, next year. Guess he figures my making 28 (or more) of 'em would be a cinch.......something like 20 large, and 8 small.... siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh Never mind all the shopping for the ingredients....
btw - I also make for friends, so would be making about 35 or more.... Double siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh
Well, we'll just have to see, won't we? I know he'd give me time off, but geeeeeeze....

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Susan! I hate it when that happens! At least you have a year to plan for it and he didn't just say, "Oh these are a great idea! Let's send them out to all of the area right now!"

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I am so behind...trying to keep up with everyone when I can. I am days behind on most threads and try skimming.

Tomorrow we have four doctors appts. Three for Shannon, pre-op exam, blood work & another doctor to reexamine the knee before surgery. Surgery for her is scheduled for 22nd.

Our oldest is quite sick, endometriosis through the bowel, kidney tubes, and GI system. She has appt. 23rd...we should know more then when surgery is. She is in a great deal of pain.

I am on new BP medicine, finally have most of the nasty swelling under control, but I have to go every few weeks. They can't find the problem that is causing this. I am working on weight loss, almost 20 lbs down.

Took us over 3 weeks to get the furnace/chimeny issue resolved, the financial issue was a night mear. Told the kids they were getting their names painted on a chimney brick for a Christmas gift!

Christmas is such a hard time for me, but there is so much more happening that is really making it worse. I have not even had time to think of Christmas shopping.

Crissy...good news on your Mom with the new doctor.

Bev & Scotty...keeping an eye on you...how are you two doing? Loved those maple pictures!

Tubby & Shirley....many many hugs, keeping you both in thoughts and prayers.

Judy & Liz...hugs hugs hugs.....Mary you too! I miss you all so much....

Debbie

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Debbie a ton of (((HUGS))) to you and all the family....

I have a Love/Hate relationship with Christmas.....if it could be just music, decorations, Candlelight Church service and Christmas dinner I would be the happiest person around... absolutely hate the shopping and commercialism of Christmas.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty, Speaking of Christmas....when I was over at Laura's yesterday they have Sage's Angel hanging prominently in the living room next to the front door where you can't miss it....it looks really nice there and she is so proud of it!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, so had hoped that all was well with you all, sending soft hugs and prayers...omg that's so close to Christmas..do know it's hard for you without your mom..sooo many memories..perhaps taking out a few of her Christmas treasures would be nice, she'd have liked that I'm sure.. laughing at names of the chimney bricks...do it for fun then you can exchange gifts after they sit and fret for a bit..

Thank goodness your feet have improved...isn't it strange that you've had it since we went on our road tour..could it have been also all the sitting for so many days...you have no idea just how often I think of us in that corn field... laughing at the thought..

Trisha, glad Sage enjoyed doing her angel..should check what other craft projects for kids are laying around, am sure there are a zillion, will have to post some.. how's Laura doing?

Susan you've worked yourself right into a job..lol...

Well it's that time of night..had a wonderful visit with the girls, infact so much fun they've just left and it's midnight..I won't think it as much fun in the morning when I want to stay tucked into bed..lol

The young one, said she wanted to come back to "Miss Betty's" about 9:30 she had about had it..I had a FairyTale book which had a gold necklace, princess charm to match the book's princess, gave it to her..Rita put the necklace on her, I put her show on and sound asleep she was...

We all managed to do 4 arrangments each...put all remaining greenery between basement and outside door, will do a few more tomorrow night and then I can clean the craft room mess..glitter/glitter/glitter!

Best of the day...visiting with the girls and making some pretties...(at least we think they are)...

Worse of the day..travelling to and from work in a blizzard...yuk..

What did I learn today...earache is back in full force...going to have to purchase some earmuffs...guess I'll be shopping early tomorrow morning...

Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow..

Hello - it's 1:39 am, and I'm up..........
Betty - you are so blessed to have those little ones at your home, enjoying the season's craft-making ^_^

Debbie - we haven't been formally introduced, so here's a gentle hug by way of Informal Introduction ^_^ (((((((( Debbie))))))) I hope your daughter gets better and soon.... all that running around can be stressful enough, without the reason behind it.

Crissy - hugs to you, too - you need them........

Hugs to everyone, just because, unless of course you need them (and who doesn't need a hug Every Day?!)

My thoughts and prayers are going out to all in need - God Bless you for being you - a wonderful part of his creation ^_^

You have a way with words Susan...are you warming up?
It's cold outside however it's nice and clear, today now that we've done the arrangements the roads would have been clear enough to go to Canal Rd. rose greenhouses..wouldn't you know!!!

We didn't put flowers in several of the arrangements because we are each making a trip to a flower shop and purchasing roses, color of choice instead of flowers we had so that is another 'to do' for lunch time...

Off for morning coffee..talk later

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Hugs and good wishes to all. Things keep happening here but all in all we are fine. Scotty's son lost his wife on the 15th and we are still waiting for the Lord to take our dear friend and neighbor. Another good friend just had back surgery and my sister's husband just had to have 4 bypasses. It just has been a hecktic yr. Let us hope that next yr is better for all. LOVE BEV

Sending prayers Bev..how terrible, you all must be overwhelmed...soft hugs for you both...what a beautiful photo Bev....what kind of temps are you having?

Someone must have forgotten to tell me I could start late today..I'm the only one in the office...lol...oh well, when they come in think I might run out for coffee..

Know what my best will be today..I thought I'd drop into a Foodland store on my way in for eats..there sitting on a platform was food/veggies and pkgs of flowers ready to be discarded..'hey wait' I said to the manager, there is only one or 2 that need to be thrown away..he said 'you want them-take them' took me about one second and they were in my vehicle..brought them in, put them in water..$100. worth of flowers for FREE..more arrangements tonight...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Susan, sorry to hear you could not sleep! Maybe you can go to bed tonight, and sleep well?
Betty, love the decorations, they are so pretty! What is the base made of?
Bev, so sorry to hear of all the problems you are having! Please know we are sending lots of thoughts and prayers to you and family! Some (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) too!
Not much going on here. I am making some peanut butter balls, and will be making cookies this week-end. If I make them too early, they will not be here for Christmas!
Catch you all later.
LK

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, you got a deal on those flowers. Guess it is true when they say, "One mans junk is anothers treasure".
Nice going!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh thank you Susan. I do need them. The faucet under my kitchen sink blew out, Dave doesn't have time to fix it, I offer help and nope going to do it all and conquer the world along with it! The house is only 2 1/2 years old, guess it's falling apart at a young age just like I am! LOL!! Today's the day for my appointment and I couldn't sleep all night last night and my stomach is in knots. Now I feel like I've had a really hard massage around my shoulders as all across the top of my back is sore to the touch. Could that be remnants from the steroids?

Betty my mom gets ear aches all the time, she always has. I hope there's not something seriously wrong there.

Today's our office Christmas party so I'm going to scoot off of this and get some work done before that starts and I have to leave at 2:30 to go to my appointment.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, did it freeze there last night. Maybe you can get some of the foam wrap for your pipes. Sorry to hear they burst like that! Enjoy your party.
I don't know if the steroids will make other muscles sore or not? Make sure you tell your Dr about it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy enjoy the Christmas party..I was like a child getting up this morning, 3 more work days and 2 weeks off..grandchildren are off school starting tomorrow...

Shouldn't be having troubles Crissy with plumbing this early in the game..must be shoddy workmanship

Certainly being worried about the Dr.'s appt. could create muscle spasms..treat yourself to a massage...you deserve it..

Linda Kay, wonder if I drop by every morning at 8am when they do their clearance if I could get more bargoooons..lol

Off to Michaels or the garden gallery at lunch..vicious circle, get flowers, need more greenery, get more greenery, need more flowers..lol

Have 4 more people to make arrangements for so that's my goal for tonight..this weekend want the entire weekend so I can paint 2 golf cd cabinets

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LK the pipe didn't burst, the veggie sprayer that is hooked up to the kitchen sink fell apart because whoever the knucklehead who put the thing together didn't use any screws or washers or anything, just put some putty in it and attached it with more putty. There's putty everywhere! LOL It's probably been about to go since it was put together. I can't find a veggie sprayer that matches that faucet so I was just going to go buy a new faucet so we have a good quality brand name faucet and won't have to worry about it again, which is what Dave always tells me to do, but he doesn't want to do that this time and I'm confused.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

WOW! Bad workmanship for sure! Hope you can get it fixed, or replaced.
Sorry Betty, that picture is real fuzzy?
Maybe go make friends with the person that runs the flower section, and ask when they throw things out? Never can hurt!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Crissy - it shouldn't break/burst after only 1 1/2 yrs.
I used to work for a builder (Qualico - don't think you have one in the US) and I was the One Year Warranty Service Administrator.
Quite often the "small" things were put together slap/dash by the people Qualico out-sourced to, and they didn't last long. However, in the meantime there was shoddy work done before we found out. Some of it outlasted the new homeowner's warranty so we never did hear about it.........
Do what we did - got a quality faucet that will last in the long run, but didn't pay an exhorbitant price (many $$ does not guarantee quality, unfortunately). We went for a known brand, which I can't remember the name of now LOL (darn CRS!)

Thank you for those kind words, Betty ^_^ I try.......

My dentist called my boss (pathologist) and asked him about the 'electric pulses to relax my jaw' (I didn't know that's what the electric pulses were for). As my boss has written a review on my meds, but doesn't really know Neurology, he recommended speaking to another Dr - a Neuropathologist, and that sounds like a good thing to me.
It also sounds like there wouldn't be surgery (yaaaaaaaaay - no time off work, which I'd have to catch up anyway!). Whatever works, is what I say!!!!
This is sounding better all the time, and could be scheduled sooner. I still have to wait until Jan 25th to review it with my dentist, so the procedure would be after that. I can hardly wait!

Waiving madly here!
(lol not as in I'm mad or anything) just a quick run in.

So good to see you Debbie and Bev...My goodness, will keep you in prayers for your family and friends.

Susan, yayyy sure hope all goes well for you. Yep, just love how you always seem to be singing.

OMG, that little crafter sure is a doll!

Betty, you asked about the crafts, OMG, they went by the wayside for a couple of days now, was sick and just getting back to norm.
Catching up with house and got tons of projects in the works, dreamcatchers, angels, beaded stockings, lil Victorian Santa sleighs and santa's...in between trying to still decorate...running to wrap gifts for the community...More beadwork for the kids and trying to work on Steve's HD keychain, Julia broke tree needles so took over for her just to get her started! OK, so thats finally on a roll. Then decided this year would like to make the kids each a new stocking, lol probabaly will finish that just in time for Christmas eve, ROFLOL, nothing like the last minute...plus sewing...Oh my, gosh still have to go Shopping!! Not buying a whole lot as financial situation is somewhat tight as is for everyone, soooo next best thing keeping hands more then busy.

Plus talking to family members via phone and txt msg. ..

My very best for today....I am now the teary eyed Grand Auntie. Nephew Julian (JJ) has a brand new baby girl!!
Named her after his mom Julianne. Came into the world weighing only 4lbs 1oz. The best gifts come in tiny packages right...
Still waiting to hear more details

Crissy, I hope you have/had fun at your Christmas party. Oh yikes, hoping you won't have to get a shot!! OH that sounds wicked.
Big, big drag on the plumbing issue! Geesh, never stops does it.

Yummy LK the peanut butter balls sounds scrumtious...

Well i have got to run again, dropping to youth center, library and train station! Plus unloaded a bunch of clothes to Salvation Army, whew..I actually have a foyer! just cleared the whole area, DH came and you never know it was cleared, more coming today!

Betty, wow What a nice "Dumpster dive" lol without the dumpster...can't wait to see what you do with them.
Holy snowballs, you be careful driving...The florals are just stunning!

Mary Hiya, Glad to see you too.

Skittles, smacking her beak, lol gave her a taste of bananas and penutbutter...she loves it.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

A quick wave here~~~~ Lots to do today...most of the Christmas stuff is out, now need to get the cartons all cleared out and put away, have to take Bill his lunch...have to locate leather for the last mud flap that I need to get finished before Christmas, needle felt woolies to be worked on, just lots of odds and ends....

Shirley and Tubby....you are in our thoughts and prayers. Hope things are progressing well.

One of my Stockings I did years ago...

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, sounds like everyone is busy crafting for Christmas! Love the stocking Trisha.
Judy, congrats on the new grand niece. Is she close, for you to go see?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Judy - I love to sing, always have.
Glad I'm able to put a smile on your face ^_^

I figure it's easier to smile than cry - not only do people stay away from cryers (if they don't know them, and sometimes when they do!), 'sides, I'm lazy and it takes less muscles to smile than to frown. Also, when you smile, you involve your whole body & your voice. people can "hear" you when you walk or talk (on the phone).
When you smile and laugh, you can convince yourself, too LOL

I had one of the bosses here say "Susan, you always sound so Perky!".... then he thought a moment and said "Not That It's a BAD thing........." Guess he realized how the 1st sentence sounded LOL

Hello Everyone:
Well, I have some great news. Tubby is coming home tomorrow. He decided that he has had his fill of being in the hospital. He has worked hard and has improved alot, but still is not able to walk. He is just so tired of it all, that he wants to be home. I shed my share of tears today, but will not go against his wishes. I think mentally we are both tired and want to be there.
The Drs. are getting things together and the van will pick him up at 1:00pm to bring him home. They will delliver a bed and the other stuff we need at home. I will go ahead in the AM to get things ready. I know the girls are kinda disappointed that he is giving up, but they need to put themselves in his shoes. May someday they will understand, I just hope they never have to go through this side of it.
I look forward to peace and quiet for awhile and being able to set back and really relax with a cup of coffee or beer. I know it will be a beer tomorrow night. Maybe I can get a small Christmas tree up and make it look festive around there.
They will order PT & OT at home and home health will come out and train me to do the IV meds and anything else I need. I will have a boat load of information to take with me when I leave the hospital.
We want to send everyone a big THANK YOU for all the prayers and support you have given us. We deeply appreciate everything, our hearts and prayers go out to you all. I don't know how to put into words what you have meant to us. Thanks for being our friends. God Bless!
I'll check in with you after we are home and settle and let you know how things are progressing.
With Love, Thanks and Hugs to all, Tubby & Shirley

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Shirley, so glad to hear he is going home. I know it is a tough decision to make, but sometime just going home, makes things better. Nice that they are willing to bring therapy to him at home.
Please take care, and enjoy a beer for me too! ^_^
God Bless
Linda Kay

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Shirley I know it is difficult for you....for Tubby, I am happy he is coming home, he will be much happier there. Sending all fo you all of my love and prayers....I just wish there were more I could do.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Shirley - good news for Tubby that he'll be home where he's more comfortable.
Bless you both for all the suffering you've gone through.
Soon I hope we'll see his funny side popping in again ^_^
Take care, and God Bless....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mixed emotions this morning Shirley as I sit with coffee in hand and read your posts...can appreciate how you and the girls feel and yet have empathy for Tubby..there is not place like the comfort of home and people you love nurturing you back to health..maybe being home with his loved ones and furries will give him that edge to fight...sometimes one can only fight so long, let's hope he finds peace at home with you...

Shirley, you deserve a case or two of beer not just a bottle...it's been a strain on you and just to be at home will do you good as well...

My prayers and thoughts are with you both...
Can never forget that miracles DO happen..let's hope there is one headed your way...

Judy, congrats on the new arrival..

Trisha, love the stocking..it's a 'punch' snowman right?

Temps must have dropped by quite a few degrees...talk about cold, that will teach me for feeling warm last night and turning down the heat...

The furries are all out side but I'm sure they are now at the door saying 'let me in/let me in' better be or those kitties will have a long day waiting for me to return from work..

Kyle is coming over tonight to finish his Christmas craft projects..while he does mine, I'll do floral arrangements...came home last night with full intentions of doing so but lordy I was tired so I was a couch potato..well not quite..did have the crochet blanket to sew on..lol..

Best I be getting myself ready...
talk later

Lyndonville, NY

Dear Shirley,

I read with tears in my eyes your news. It is wonderful you will both be home together....there is good and not so good in that as Betty said.

If you are putting up a tree....please make sure it is artificial. With Tubby having a fungal infection, I don't know if a real tree is safe for him. When our daughter was on Chemo....and had a compromised immune system.....the hospital/doctors told us we could not have a real tree.

This is something you can ask them....just to be safe. I hope I am wrong!

Many hugs for you these next few days, you will need them adjusting to having that wonderful man back home. And....I think this will give him some spunk to fight. He has all of us "online family" to talk to and check up on him daily also.

Susan...great to meet you! I have been on here for some time, but since August haven't been in the best of health.

Betty, I get laughing so hard when I tell people of our adventures. And especially this last month when someone will say "I am getting my DH a GPS for Christmas!" LOL Ohhh the places you will go!

Judy, hugs and waves.....skritches for Skittles. I hope she is all over her adventures of trouble!

Yesterday went well with all four doctors appts. Only "glitch" is the anesthesiologist is worried now about her having the surgery in a "off location" ambulatory site from the actual hospital....because of past history. She has had two Addisons crisis after surgery. But since we started premedicating...it has been much better. Will find out today hopefully.

Going to "try" and start some Christmas shopping today or tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. And Betty....on Friday alll the girls and I sat down and went through all of Moms Christmas treasures (over 250 snowmen) plus ornaments.....and so many are around my house...and on the tree....and now at the girls houses. Bittersweet.

I must run....busy day ahead.

Debbie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

WOW So much to respond to today.
Tubby, Norm and I are really happy that you are going to be at home. But you must remember to keep fighting even though there won't be a bevy of nurses pushing you.
Shirley, we both are so supportive of you my dear. This is not an easy road to travel but we will be there with you. Our hope for you is that you get plenty of support for YOU and
that Tubby will be a good patient. We don't know what it is about being home that helps when we are ill but there IS certainly something that makes it special. Our prayers and loving thoughts will continue as always.....

Debbie - our thoughts and prayers are with you also as this journey begins again. We wish we could take all of this worry and care from your shoulders even if just for a little while. Please know we are praying for your family also.

Betty we sure hope you will get some rest soon. It seems you are saying that you are tired more often than usual. Not that you don't have reason to be mind you. I've never heard of anyone accomplishing what you do all the time. After looking at your afghan I've decided that I'd like to do one again myself. It's been a while since I crocheted one. I think it would be a good change. I'm thinking a soft yellow and green with white or cream for spring. We'll see.

Waving to everyone - I find it hard to keep up sometimes. Trisha, Judy, Mary, Stacey and everyone. Have a wonderful day and if I left anyone out - I'm sorry but you are in my heart too. Warm thoughts.......Barb
