That Polly is so nice!
Oriental reds?
Awwwwwwww! Thank you.
You're welcome to come too! Do you like Mexican? Danas is waaaay out in the country, but a good Mexican restaurant in the closest town.
Now that would be an outing, Polly! But there was a time when I would drive to Miami by myself for a party, back when I was young and fearless. LOL
ROTFLMBO---OMG go to Dana's & not come home with new plant's, Now that is funny, Mexican I LOVE Mexican what an offer,Thank you so much, but the no plant thing still has me laughing, I have only ever had Pizza Hut when I have gone to Dana's.
I asked DH about it & he did not say yes, but he did not say no either:) We will see:)Anita
Well, then 300 miles +/- should be a hop, skip and jump.
Work on that boy, Anita :) Does he carry plants to cars? Does he like Mexican too?
No & No:(
Well wait if I got my Mom to go again he might:)
LOL, I'll practise my hopping, skipping & jumping. Should improve my leg circulation for the drive.
That's OK Anita. Dana has wagons. And I know they have burgers at the restaurant.
Or it might break a leg, Mary. Be careful.
Yes he does:)
Wonder if maybe you could start a thread on the Iris forum & see if any others close enough might want to go?
Polly Party Pooper!!
LOL.
We could do that Anita, when it's time. I know Debilu lives pretty close.
She lives near me.
Its beginning to look like an outing.
Hey ge!
i was reading back over your threads and noticed that you wrote about penstemons. I ordered some from a terrific company - Bluestone - Eleccric Blue and Stapleford Gem - gorgeous things - and they keeled almost immediately. Red Husker, on the other hand, lasts for many years, even in clay. It is apparently because most penstomins require very shrply draine d soil, which is why you see them so often in High Country Gardens catalog - gorgeous but not usuable for me . The sell them out west where the soil is rocky and sandy. In our soil they drown - so it's not you!
Donna
Donna, There's a DGer named Don here in Pa who grows lots of Penstemons. He recently sent me quite a few seeds. I'm going to write and ask him about his soil. He's north of here, so he may be in a more rocky area, but our rocky areas are all extremely wooded with deciduous trees and conifers, more deciduous, so richer soil.
I think lilies and daylilies look great with Penstemons and am hoping to get a lot of them growing. Based upon your comments, I will keep most of them in my really dry bed. I put in some beautiful reds, not husker's, last summer. They are in a spot with moister soil. They are lanky, but I was hoping that would improve with age.
Ge, I have some Agastache Apricot Sprite in front of my Daylilies and am going to try growing the Apache Sunset from seed this month. How tall does your Apache Sunset get? I find it tough to choose plants to surround the really tall lilies. I'm working on sowing some of the taller Salvias too.
Thanks, Ge.
Thanks, Ge. Allison is the Agastache Queen!!
