Curious on everyone’s thoughts on lilies. I am pretty new to gardening and just bought my first home so I am really starting to get into gardening. The previous owners planted lilies. When they bloom they are GORGEOUS however I hate how they look without flowers… kinda looks like long weeds to me lol. Would appreciate any advice or perspective the group has on these plants! Thank you.

Are you asking about daylilies or lilies such as the stargazer? Both have significant foliage after the bloom season. I have many daylilies and the strappy texture of the leaves adds interest in my beds when other plants are in bloom. Lilies and daylilies go well with other perennials like coneflowers, salvias and lavender. You can also add annuals around them like zinnias and wave petunias.
