I really don't know. Just so it is a biography, historical or business.
GOODBYE TO BASIL FOR ANOTHER YEAR
My boss has a book on his bookshelf at work he read and really liked. I'll check it out tomorrow for you. I know it had something to do with business.
Malinche A Historical Novel. There several on Malinche and they are all good. She was an interpreter for Cortez. Very interesting.
Has every one fled the scene? I'm getting hungry too.
Any books on all these well-known people who made their millions in this country by creating a business or something.
You can just give me a name also.

Losing my Virginity by Richard Branson
Richard Branson Book Review
The flamboyant Virgin entrepreneur from the United Kingdom shares some of his business successes, world adventures, and personal background in his bubbly autobiography. "Losing My Virginity: How I've Survived, Had Fun, and Made a Fortune Doing Business My Way" is a very appropriate title as it is exactly what the book is about.

Jack: Straight from the Gut by Jack Welch
Jack Welch Book Review
"Jack: Straight from the Gut" is written by one of the most well known American business leaders of recent times. Jack Welch played a leading role in one of America's largest companies (General Electric - GE) for twenty years, growing it from around $26 billion when he started through to $130 billion when he left in 2001.
Thanks, Lynnie!
you're welcome, I just put Jack Welch's book on my own xmas list :)
I must have nearly 30 books on my son's list. Surely I can find a few of them.
Now my granddaughter has her birthday on Dec. 31. Picking out a book for her is difficult. She will be 10 but she is very excelled in reading. It is hard to pick an appropriate book for her age but at a higher reading leve. She has read at least 2 Harry Potter books, but I think that was last year.
Can you suggest any book for her?
Lynnie didn't get a nap. About the time I was ready to fall asleep phone rang.
Was my friend and I had to go out there. At a loss as to what is going to happen or who is going to do it, but it is beginning to be a hazard for the DH. He is starting to do things at night after she has gone to bed.
Last night he decided to throw out some food scraps into the pond and he slipped down the hill and fell in. It was after 11pm so if he hadn't made it out no one would have known. He didn't tell her until this afternoon when he couldn't find his glasses. We found them on the bank in the weeds, luckily. and I don't think he fell completely in, because I don't think he could have gotten out. Bank really steep and water deep, weedy and mucky.
Can't say she's in denial about it just wants DR or someone else to make decision on what needs to be done.
Not my place to. say anything, I am staying out of it. Moral support only here.
Venice that's my kid exactly, way ahead in reading & writing, also 10. She's into Harry Potter right now, before that she "wanted to read the classics" and I got her Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Last of the Mohicans, Little Women series, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Call of the Wild....sheesh what else..a new one called The Magician's Elephant...and poetry books. She likes the Wimpy Kid books, as does the 7 yr old.
A Little Princess...loved that one.
They both read almost all the Nancy Drews and Moon suggested Agatha Christie and a series called Sara Tall & Plain.
There will be LOTS of books under our tree. I suggest just checking with the mother, so as not to offend anyone's sensibilities ;)
If she likes Nancy Drew, a lot of her books are on CD ROM as computer games, we have done most of them they're a BLAST.
JJ that's very sad, I feel bad for both of them.
Lynnie, thanks so much!!!!!
I am calling it a night.
Have a nice night and sweet dreams everyone.
Dave I hope the sun shines for you tomorrow.
nite
JJ, night! Have a restful sleep!
g'night JJ!
Venice, The Secret Garden by Francis Hodgson Burnett is a classic and my all-time favorite book.
Smiley, thank you so much!
Night! to all who is left out there! Sleep well!
See you tomorrow!
One more thing about books for my granddaughter. . . She really likes animals. But my son said not Old Yeller!
Can you think of any animal books that would be appropriate for her? Thanks.
Hi Carol!
How about: "The Man Who Planted Trees" by Jean Giono (The story of Elzeard Bouffier).
And: "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
And: "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah." & "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". by Richard Bach.
Good Morning All.
JJ's what a mess. Do they have any children that could help her make that decision? It may be that she is afraid of being alone. Maybe they could get a night time sitter.
Venice, if your granddaughter likes animal stories, there is a great series of books written by an English vet, ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL by James Herriot. They are set in England in the 30's and are well written and very funny. (no adult content/language, etc)
Hope you all have a lovely day.
Moon
Dave, thanks for your suggestions for my granddaughter.
Moon, thanks for suggesting the Creatures books. Sounds like good animal books.
I think I have a good list for her unless someone can thing of another animal book.
Trying to find a book at her reading level and yet appropriate for a 10 year old, can be be difficult for me. I didn't read much growing up so I am not familiar even with the old standard books. Hopefully, I can find something at GW that is in good condition. I saw a garage sale the other day. So if the weather continues to be so warm, maybe there will be others. They always seem to have books. Also, I would like to find a little Christmas ornament for her and all of them.
Thanks everyone for helping me. I had no idea where to start. I even looked on some reading lists on the Internet for other books that also included books many of you have suggested.
Thanks again. What would I do without all of you!!!
Good morning every one. Venice has your G.daughter read Lord of the Rings? Thats a good one. Or Little Women another good one. The ones that everyone else suggested are very good as well. You will find some good reading for her I'm sure. Too many good ones out there not to. Hope all are having a good day!
Morning Venice, too welcome as always...grin.
Morning Dixie, hope you are upright today, grin. The poos would be confused if your nose was that close to the ground. LOL
Moon you are a howl! No pun intended. Grin...Gave me a good visual of that. How did you know I looked like that? See lots of interesting stuff, that I normally take for granted when I'm walking upright!
Just figured if ya spent most of a day crawling around, ya might have a hard time getting your body to remember "This end up".....grin
Thanks Dixie. Little Women, of course!
I found these lights on Craigslist. I am thinking I could get them for a lot less if they still have them. What do you think of these?
http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/for/1450496958.html
The lights look like a pretty good deal V. If the shipping doesn't cost ya an arm and a leg.
LOL Moon no chance of that. There's a certain body part that keeps me anchored pretty well. If I don't snacking so much I'm gonna look like bacon grease. Hideous thought!LOL
The lights are in town. Do you think these would work for grow lights? The lights are "lay-in" which means they are meant to be in a ceiling grid. How could I make them work for me?

No, those won't work.
I think that question is for Dave to answer. I dont want to advise you and have you home burn to toast. Grin
Lowe's has work lights for $7.48 but they are clamp lights. I will have to think about that. But those are probably the best.
