Classy parents!! Who knows some parents might leave her some grand moolah in their will.

Anyone following the news nowadays? When I'm home, I tend to blare CNN news and lately, it's getting more depressing.. especially with tragic case of Shaniya. Now I'm seething mad that UCLA want to hike the tuition fees!!! Okay now.. they can pay millions to football coaches, I suggest they redistribute those fat pay!!

Ooooh.. I've been 'reignite'... got to go and take care of some much needed chores.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Calling all great cooks!
Need suggestions here on how to 'dress' up the lowly hot dogs.
Kel's dad insisted on grilled hotdogs for Thanksgiving, so besides chilli, what else can we do to elevate it?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wrap them in bacon. Those are pretty good!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good idea there LK! Thanks!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

We cut them up and put them in potato soup--not exactly gourmet but oh so good on a cold night.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

There will be lots of leftovers, just like last year. Those will be perfect for soups then.
We're planning to order some dressing ~~ not a lost cause yet, as Kel will grill some thinly cut pork chops.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well I will have plenty of turkey, dressing and gravy plus fresh pumpkin pies (yeap cooked the pumpkins' down me self) so come on down. Kim is to make cranberry relish this weekend.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you so much for the invite!!!!
We'll be there.. bringing extra napkins!

Glenview, IL

Melted cheese is awsom on the lowly hot dog! LOL, thats about as dressed up as i can think.

CINDY, good to see you. Looking forward to seeing doll house.
OMG, I am so sorry to be so rude, I did receive the Dantura Seeds, Thank you so much and please forgive me for not
letting you know...I am planning on planting half at the Cottage and half here.

Marion, be glad to come help you clean. OH, now look at JD, whistling here...he is quite good looking.

LOLOL, Jaye...I'll gladly get outed to the house!! only if i can take my computer, otherwise they are stuck.

OK, gotta run, no cleaning today, got an emergency Birthday gift to make...gonna be an all nighter.
Have a good night everyone.

Raleigh, NC

checking in to say, no such luck, four tiny blisters have shown up on the burn.

will read on here after dinner. while it rained, did laundry and got the clutter, junk mail, blown in/tracked in leaves, dirty shoes, gardening paraphenalia and dead plants out of the foyer (I'm no good with house plants). Does anyone else here have this problem? our front entry is tiny, but it does collect... everything. When the sun came out, got 21 irises and 6 strawberries potted. now pooped. gotta start dinner.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I should be in bed, but as usual missed a lot on DG so sit here reading everything.

I'm feeling really good, got some of that energy I've been missing for a very long time. I have iron defencieny anemia and I could blame myself because I don't eat a balanced meal and stopped taking my iron pills because they are constipating. Well, I'm back on the pills (iron that is LOL). Doctors can't find out why my count is down so low, not bleeding from anywhere. Have to see a hematologist next week. I had been complaining of being dizzy evey time I bent over or turned too fast, couple units of blood took care of that. Have to eat a lot of iron rich food so I don't get in this situation again. And I was so happy I didn't have any medical issues. At least my doctor looks after my health. ^_^

Well, better get to bed as I have a lot of cleaning for today. Don't have to worry about Thanksgiving as we are invited out to a friend's. Will make something special to take. Friend's husband is doing all the cookng, what a lucky gal.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is on, with bacon and pancakes to go with it!
Pegi, sorry to hear your having problems, but glad you have them taken care of!
Liver is full of iron, but personally can't stand the stuff! Take your iron pills like your Dr says. They make pills for the constapation also.
Your not a lone Bon, I can't raise house plants either. I kill everyone in the house, so I quit trying! Just not enough light in the house I guess? All my plants are outside.
So what are you all doing for Thanksgiving? You staying home to cook, or going to a friends? It will be just Todd and I here, but I will be cooking a ham and a turkey, and all the left overs go to the Base here. I always take plates to the security troops!

Good morning everyone

LK thanks for the pancakes and bacon.. yummy my favorite..

Pegi I didnt realize that iron was good for so many things that deal with your blood..

Bon so sorry that yourburn blistered.. One thing I cant stand is a burn..

Jaye Im sorry but Im no help wit hthe hot dogs.. I always add cheese but other than that nothing Im too picky...

Whoooo hooo JD does look good. But still doesnt compare to my all time favorite (even though hes older) Sam the man Elliott... Broke my heart when he died in roadhouse..

As for Thanksgiving we are all headed to several dinners and we are cooking... The best will be going to my uncle Boyds house.. The have a huge house with an indoor basketball court and pool, let alone the coolest furniture you have ever seen custom made out of old cars and firetrucks.. He and his wife own 3 dairy queens so they dont want for anything... Also going to Maxs moms as long as dad behaves himself between now and then.. We are cooking turkey. mashed potatoes, baked beans, mac and ceese casarole, suasage balls, and Max is making homemade pumpkin pie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, the car furniture sounds interesting. Take some pictures if they don't mind, would love to see that!
Do you have a recipe for the sausage balls, they sound good.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

If you all don't mind, can you all go to this website. it is where my youngest works, and they are having a pumkin contest. If you vote on his pumpkin, he wins $150.00, and can really use the money right now. Click on the site to enter, then click on the Jack O lanter contest, right under the name Paltinum. My son's name is Andy, I believe he is the first picture to click on.
Thanks a lot.

Will definately take some pictures for you all of the house and whatnot.. The one couch is a 57 chevy cut in halfand converted over to furniture.. It was the car he drove on their first date.. I always loved going to his house even though he is my stepmothers brother he treats me like family..

Voted for Andy for as well LK .

Sausage balls are really easy..
2 packages of mild or spicy Jimmy dean sausage
1 cup Flour (all purpose)
4 cups finley shredded Mild cheddar
Mix it all together in a large bowl until you can roll it into balls then bake them ona cookie sheet at 350 until they are a golden sizzling little ball.. You can check them by splitting a few in half to make sure they are done all the way through.. They create a good bit of grease on the pan so be careful that you either use a deeper cookie pan or even a cassarole dish so you dont let it roll off and burn you.. Once they are done I set them in a bowl or on a plate over paper towels to help saturate the grease remaining..
About 20- 30 minutes depending on your oven..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh man, those sound so good!
Thanks. Do you dip them in any sauce, or serve as is?

Anyone else have Thanksgiving recipes to share?

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

LK we have always just set them out as an appetier but they normally go fast.. My BIL dips his in BBQ sauce but personally I eat mine straight out of the bowl...

Whew Im tiring out fast today.. I have been working down here in the basement getting plants re-potted and taking care of moving maxs succulents up into their own containers.. Next I think I will work on getting the sedge grass done and working on hanging baskets if I have time.. I went out to empty out my black bininto compost (barefoot) and stepped on a old rose cane.. OOOWWIIIEEEEE Had four thorns stuck in my heel.. And of course Bella was trying to run me over while Im trying to stand on one foot t pull them out.. I bet the nieghbors thought it was really funny..

We put the tree decorations on last night as a family and I put the rest of my bears out today after I took the kids to school... The living room looks great, I just need to get a real tree skirt and something for the coffee table as it just looks so bare.. O nad a tree topper (mine went missing in the move.. sigh) I ad an old german glass topper that reminded me of the one my mom and dad used to put on our tree when I was a lil girl.. Bought it on ebay from an antique dealer and I doubt I will be able to find another one..

Well I better get back to working on these plants.. Im going to see New Moon at 1..

Whew, Did pull an all nighter 4:20 A.M. finished key chain. I didn't feel it was my best work by all means.
DH loved it so, I was glad...He gave it to his work buddy and She Loved it. makes me feel a little better, probably threw it away later.
Another Sister might laugh at how amature it looks, sigh plus I had to use glass beads, which i hate for this kind of beading...grr so many mistakes , it's rediculous!!, Sigh again...Well on happier note it is done...lol, good thing I didn't have to sign it.

Wow, Bon! I didn't realize how many iris you have...Didn't your just start your Iris farm , Like last year???

I voted LK!

Cute deco and nice tree Donna!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It's raining here, and a bit chilly... so I don't think I'll be taking Jackson for his walk today. So, I thought I'd come by to say HI to you all.
Jackson is walking on a leash now... YEAH !!... he's not taking me for a walk anymore, pulling me all over the country. He's content with walking beside me now. It's been a lot of work to get him to here... but I think we're going to get him where he needs to be... a part of the family.

I saw this the other day and thought It would bring a smile to someone.

HOW PUMPKIN PIES ARE MADE

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

To funny BJ. So happy to see you stopping by again. I sure have been missing you--having to be a good girl as there is no one to sit in the corner with me when you go missing.
How is the little red hot pepper doing?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

ALSO, I want to pass along this warning... be sure to let all the men in your life know about this.

Scam against older Men...

A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Lowe's, Home Depot, or
Costco customers.

This one caught me by surprise.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping.

Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic.

Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works:

Two seriously good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car as
you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping
your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling
out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you
thank them and
offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to
McDonalds.

You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start
undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts
crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen June 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th,17th,
20th, 24th, & 29th. Also July 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd,
26th & 28th, three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming
weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take
advantage of older men.

Warn your friends to be vigilant.

Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for
$1.99 at K- Mart and bought them out. Also, you never will get to eat at
McDonalds. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to
Lowe's, Home Depot, and Costco.

Don's looking for a bulk buy on Ebay to keep a supply of wallets on hand (probably in hopes that it ever starts happening here at our Lowes)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Marion.. I miss you too. It's been a whirlwind of activity here lately.

The red pepper has become Don's work car since I have two girls to transport. I get to drive it now and then, though... and it's fun.
I'm with Donna... going to see a movie today... SHOCK... I never do this by myself... but I want to see 2012, and I want to see it by myself. I'm taking the girls to see New Moon tomorrow... we're going to have a girls day... hair salon, nail salon, movie and dinner... just us girls.
Then on Sunday Don's taking us all to do some Big City things in Dallas for my birthday. Probably the Dallas Aquarium, and a museum (if it's open), and dinner in the The Big City.

Better go get showered and dressed now so I can get to the matinee on time...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Great Recipe.

Love the tree!

BJ, glad to see you back, we miss you!!
I will have t pass on the warning!!!

Have to get the dog out for her walk and spend a little time over at mom's today.

Everyone have a great afternoon.

Talk to you later.

Hey Bj, glad to see youposting. Hope you enjoy the movie!

Thanks for the funnies! made us both laugh!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I voted for Andy too. BJ that scam on older man is a great one. I was wondering why DH ran over to Lowe's without me a few times. LOL

That Christmas tree is a beauty, and love all you Christmas teddy bears. As soon as I get my house in order (?) I can start making a mess with Christmas decorating. I have a lot of great things my mother made to set out. My favorite is my Precious Moments mini nativity set. Now that I have a curio cabinet I can keep it up all year. My favorite because my son who passed away gave it to me for Christmas many years ago. In fact most of the Precious Moments he bought for me. I have plastic totes full of Christmas stuff I've saved over the many years. Just can't seem to get rid of anything.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi BJ...glad to see you back, Sistah!

I voted for Andy, too.

Cool pumpkins!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the votes everyone!

It's Friday!
Have a great week-end!

Raleigh, NC

just checking in - haven't read but one thing....sent it to a few folks. LOL

started outside 10 mins. after rising - big day, lots to do. But got to class and worked out hard (maybe too hard, am sore all over). Randall took me to a new seafood place for lunch - it was yummy and not nearly as expensive for lunch as for dinner. got more rototilling done and 25 irises transplanted, 9 potted up, and five strawberries potted up.

Randall just called upstairs. says he's got to run a quick errand to Kmart (1/2 mile from here). says he needs a new wallet.

Raleigh, NC

quick y'all -

there are 2 free "Angel Trumpets" on craigslist in Raleigh - they look like brugs? are they brugs? yellow single bloom. but they are free if I dig them. what do you think?

is this worth it? how big a pot should I put them in? can they winter outside here? do they have a deep roots system? or a huge wide root system? Should I take Randall? this thing in the photo looks like it's at least 4 ft high and more than that wide. says it's worth $200-300! know ZERO on brugs

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi y'all.
Bon, in the winter, we cut down the brugs, but try to root the cuttings.
I wouldn't put the price that high for a single, unless they're sought after named ones. Most valuable for a single, is an almost red, like "Superspot".
Not deep rooted, but find at least a 10- 20 gallon pot. I have a couple that tall overwintering in the makeshift green house.

Will return in a few... LK.. I'm gonna vote for Andy now.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Good night all.

Jaye hope you're getting some rest.

Raleigh, NC

I'm up - forgot I drank iced tea with my flounder, went to bed at 9:30, now I'm up, not slept yet. tylenol pm is starting to kick in.

wow- sounds like that yellow trumpet is not worth it - digging up, much less moving a 20 gal rootball would really do my back in permanently. I have no greenhouse.

well, it was a neat idea.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Maybe you could get some cuttings from it? If it is an angel trumpet, the flowers will be hanging down and the stems will be green, or a light brown, if it is an older plant. If it is a devils trumpet, the flowers will be more upward, and the stems will be dark, amost a purple in color.

Morning everyone. Coffee is on!
