Hello everyone. Donna, thanks for the coffee, and waffles!
I am back home. I had an MRI, but wont know the results for maybe a week! I hate this waiting game! Anyway, the new Dr, says it my be a stress fracture. It is not a pinched nerve from the back.
I downloaded the fire fox web browser, and it is working pretty good. It even has spell checker in it, so as I type it corrects my mistakes!
Crissy, I hope your hubby is not one of the 150 getting laid off. Is it a temporary lay off?
Cindy, can't wait to see what your going to do with all those paver stone!
Jaye how you doing today?
Stacey, BJ, Phyllis, Marion, where is everyone. Check in to say hello when you get the chance please. We miss you all!
Today is Todd's Birthday, so I need to run and get the stuff to make him his pineapple upside cake! His favorite.
Later...
No, not temporary. If it was temporary I wouldn't be worried about it so much.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODD!!!!! Enjoy that cake!!
Jaye not here long time and some reason i can be on hes outside some reason i cam here it was for you good posts. i chuckled at them.. glad your well. i'm going to put few decorations arounds living room . him he wants nothing decorated for any occasion. but i love Christmas..
everyone hello , many blessings.
Some hubby's are such "bah humbugs" and I've got one of them. He has been hanging lights around the outside of house, but I never know if he is going to do it every year. He always finds an excuse and this year it will probably be because the urologist told him not to lift anything heavy.
Love that big tree, wish I had room for one that big. Well, I just put a small one on top of my bookcase and have a beautiful quilted skirt for around it that my sister made for me a few years ago. But, won't start decorating for a while, when I was a small kid I remember my folks put up the tree Christmas Eve. Times sure have changed.
Crissy I feel for Dave.. I couldnt iagine laying off that many people with the economy being the way it is.. Hopefully they will get everything worked out for your mom..
Cindy dont over do it now.. 150 pavers is alot of work..
SamiGal .. This is the bigest tree we have ever had ourselves.. I never would have bought one this big but when my boss asked if we wanted it I figured it was smaller.. Love it even more even though I had to go get more lights for it.. lol It will have 800 on it before the night is out.. I have all my fall goodies put up and am ready to carry the tote upstairs with my christmas Boyds Bears.. whoo hooo
As a kid I always ended up with a few Christmas openings.. My dad never could wait and he would say open on, okay one more then boom they were gone and he would shop again... Drove my mom nuts..
LOL, Donna I didn't get 150 pavers. Crissy was saying that her hubby might be one of the 150 to get laid off.
The pile of pavers is not what I thought I was getting. :( It was a heap of broken edging very few whole pieces. But I think I can make them work. Steve brought up his cement mixer for me to use. Now I don't have to mix my cement in 5 gallon bucket any more. He spent all day with me today ^_^ he didn't want to go home and said it was going to be too long before we see each other again. We are meeting for dinner tomorrow at the Cowboy Poetry at 6:00. He was talking to my cousin while we were loading up the pavers and was telling her how happy he has been since he met me. Last night he told me I was the best thing that has happened to him in a long time.
Hey! I found the bread crumbs! got lost there for a bit.
Am bushed too much to hold my eyes open. Ida's initial winds and rains, and her backlash storms sounded scary enough that I didn't sleep until 3:30 am Thursday morn and 1:30am this morning. (I've never slept well with high winds blowing ever since that tornado in '88) But, no serious damage for my family and not all that much for the county. a few very high scary creeks, a few roads under water, a few downed trees was all.
Will read more when I can. Love to all.
Sweet dreams, sweet sistahs!
Oh Cindy how sweet! Dave's best friend's wife tells me that all the time, and she says even though Dave doesn't say it, he knows it LOL
So here's what transpired today:
They're not laying him off yet, but they laid a bunch of people off both temporary for 60 days and permanently. The ones that are laid off for 60 days come back January 2nd, then Dave and 2 others go on vacation for 4 weeks, then gets laid off. Of course things can change and none of that may happen, or only part of that may happen and who knows which part! I'm so darn mad about it, glad he knows what might transpire, but I'm tired of living on pins and needles financially not knowing what's going to happen. We can't live on my salary alone.
Good morning everyone! Coffee is on! Woke up about an hour ago, and just can't get back to slepp. Maybe a nap later today?
Crissy, sorry to hear about Dave getting laid off in January. Lets pray this all does not happen!
Cindy, hope you can put all those pieces together to work for you? Pictures please when you get the chance?
Hey Bon. Glad top hear the storms are not too bad where your at. I know Ida was dumping a lot of water as she went through! be careful please?
Good Morning Glory!
coffee isn't on yet, but Randall will get it started for us when he rises. I found a Hazelnut Mocha creamer at Aldi's for us yesterday to go with. and I'm sitting here with a pot of Vanilla Chamomile tea that is the most soothing thing ever. about to make French toast for the girls, with the juiciest navel oranges you've ever seen.
what a nice bit of sunshine greeting us today! Well, it's a sun, shining through a bit of a white sky. best be turning on the weather channel, it's supposed to be sunnier than this! Today is the day we go to review trees. If we find one we like, they'll chop it down for us next week. otherwise, we order a frasier fir that will be chopped next week and delivered day after Thanksgiving for us to pick up. There's a Christmas tree farm of local varieties sandwiches between NCSU's research farms south of town. It was so sad, though, the old mans' (he's over 90) son that we ususally deal with recently died of a heart attack.
Ida is gone Linda. And got my fingers crossed on your knee. Been reading for half an hour on here. I've cried, laughed until I had to go pee, and am wishing Joyce would grace us with a recipe for raspberry cake balls covered in chocolate! ymmm
still not finished reading. but it's time to cook. Y'all will not believe what I've gone and done. Since some of these irises are for the ENCIS iris sale, I contacted all the landscapers that google could find in Raleigh by email, asking if they had any pots they'd normally dump that they'd like to donate. two replied yes. when I got to the first one, oh my word! she had 3 truckloads at least! so I told her "could I buy the rest from you? the sale doesn't need this many." She said no, please just take them. They were there when they bought the place 3 years ago from a daylily farm. Whoowhoo! We loaded up the pickup at dusk and came on home. I'll go back for more some other rainy day (they don't work when it's raining).
Morning, I have a large pot of coffee on also--Costa Rican. I went missing yesterday as my son came very early and spent the entire day helping me do things around the house that requires a man!!!! I was exhausted and in bed by 9 which is early for me. Good feeling having all the tiny little things taken care of and some larger on also. Not just a work day for the 2 of us but an all around quality day with Mother and Son.
Finishing up some tasks today and hopefully going to watch some football. That remains to be seen though.
Take care all and have a great weekend.
wow! do we have the go juice flowing this morning! And that new creamer was Mocha Marshmellow - wow is it RICH! Randall perfectly cooked us up some crisp bacon, too!
on my post above, I meant your knee, Linda Kay! it could have meant any number of us. right? LOL Marion, I'm envious, I miss my son doing heavy work for me. that knucklehead still hasn't called me about Thanksgiving.
well, the forcast for a sunny weekend has turned into a sunny Sunday and a grey Saturday. Randall's doing the morning dishes, soon as he's done we'll cast off for down to the tree farm south side of the county. It's their reserve a tree day. then it's potting irises. All the Ida rainfall has those newly potted strawberries and irises happy as can be! then I'm potting up the yellow cannas. will check in later.
Bon, I must confess our relationship has been rough at times (to much alike in personalities) but since his Dad's death, he has stepped up and helped me and his sister. I do try not to impose to much as he is restoring a house built in 1875, works full time and the most time consuming---a 4 yo and almost 7 yo. Again, it was a wonderful day, we did agree to disagree several time, laughed alots and most of all accomplished a lot of small things that were "hanging". Don't intend to be bragging but just a proud Mom who is thankful for the day.
Today, DD and I clean the den top to bottom!!
There's 20% chance of rain tomorrow and 70% chance on Monday. I need to get out there and start taking care of things!
Marion sounds like you got a lot done with him, and a good day to boot! Good for him, I bet you're a very proud mom!
Hello ladies!!
Thank you for posting ladies even though I'm not around. You all are truly my life's gems that shine so brilliantly in my darkness.
Todd, Happy Belated Birthday!!! That upside down pineapple cake got to be good! LK, if ever I have a chance to meet you, that's what I want!!
Donna, Christmas should be everybody's favorite holiday! You will turn that tree into one breathtaking one that Tristen and Tony will brag about.
Hi Twyla, glad to see you pop in. May this cold season just reduce your DH's hot temper.
Crissy sweetie, your fears are our fears too, but I know He is watching over you and Dave.
If Steve's your main guy, Cindy... I think we would all be breathing a sigh of relief! The dating game is not a safe one anymore. And not all stones that shine are diamonds, some could be cubic zirconia.
((((((((((Bonnie)))))))))) Unlike some of us, you've been so cheery lately!! That must be Randall's doing huh?
Maid M... you need to give Kel's mum lessons on positive family dynamics!
We are 'given' the Saturday off as FIL regained some strength (PTL). So, it's off shopping and eating out!! Yippee!! Will be back in a few!
Well Jaye, you are so right. I have cancelled all my subscriptions on the dating sites. Dave and I talked and I told him I just did not feel chemistry there so we are going to be friends, although I doubt I'll ever see him again it will probably just be friendly emails.
Yesterday when Steve was here he was telling me that he is willing to help me with things that need to get done around here because he enjoys being with me. He has seen that I can handle just about anything that gets thrown at me and I don't stand there and say "I can't do it". He has a past girlfriend/room mate that he is doing some work on a house for her. She asks him for help and how to do it. He shows her how then she turns around and tells him she can't do and that he has done a crappy job that he is not doing it right. I told him I need to go down there and beat her up, lol. So he is trying to hurry and get it done so he can get away from her. She called twice yesterday and he ignored her call, lol. As soon as he is done with that house he will be moving in with his mom, she is forgetting alot of things and it is scaring him. He has told her several times about tonight and she keeps forgetting. She will be 80 soon. Boy I sure Thank the Lord my mom is not like that. But she has been cranky alot lately, don't know what's up with that. But it could be the weather she hates to see winter come.
OK I need to get busy and finish this doll house so I can start some sewing.
TTYL
Before I go I have to show this to ya all.
Isn't this saddest look Brug you've ever seen. All summer long I battled to with these things. First I had aphids, then spider mites so I just gave up on them. I kept watering them but never expected for them to bloom. Weeeeelllllllllll the silly things have buds, lol. I just found them yesterday.
Sounds like everyone is doing reasonably well. Thank you all for the coffee, need all I can get this morning. Have a list of things I want to get done, but so far have not managed to kick myself out of this chair and get started.
Jaye so glad to hear the FIL is doing well enough for you and Kel to take a day off. With this kind of stress you need, and deserve, a break. Have fun and hugs and prayers to you both.
Wow, busy as little beavers here! Time to slow down, and smell the roses! Marion glad you got your son to help out, that does help so much!
Cindy, sounds like you got a keeper there. Glad he is willing to help you out too!
Jaye, glad you got a day to yourselves. I know taking care of parents is a full time job in itself, let alone all your own personal items to get done! Please take care.
Trisha, how you doing, sounds like your taking it easy today? Anymore paintings to show us?
Bon, Wow, sounds like you are always finding greats deals for the garden. Very nice!
Time for me to go and get some laundry done.
Later
LK
LK, today is housework and list making....
Still need to get my reading done for Bible Study tonight....
Paintings......the only thing I finished recently is the Starfish I posted up on the 12th.... I have another shell acrylic started, an oil dry and ready for the next stage if I can figure out what to do to it next...and a watercolor half done that I am hoping to get finished up soon...I tend to get too many irons in the fire this time of year...
This is the oil I am working on....
Good Afternoon all, my computer is doing some strange things so I have to go with the flow. Strange signs pop up, but am ignoring them.
Jaye, the rice cooker I priced was Aroma, but there are so many brands out there. I want to do more than just cook rice in it. A gal I met a while back said she found one just like new at Salvation Army for $8. Says it works great, well I never see such bargains so guess I'll end up buying one from Wal-Mart or Target. Of course Target is not one of my favorite stores so don't go in one very often. I put it right up there with K-Mart. I like it that I can shop around on Internet.
We made the most of today... and right up to an hour ago, until his mum called... wondering if we had ran off to another state!!!
Howdy sistahs! Feeling good right now getting that much needed break.
Trisha, prayers really work. God may not gives us the answer we hope for, but He always find a way for us to retain our sanity! Thank you so much for your comforting hugs :D
Cindy, Cindy.... no violence please! I'm like you, can't stand women who take advantage of kind men, and act helpless. Eventually, Steve will just have to tell others you come first if he's serious about you already. Is he the only child? Hard for a man to take care of his mother.
Pegi, I left my Aroma behind and had enjoyed it, since cooking just for myself. Even cook stews in it. Our 10 cup Sanyo's busted, and may reconsider getting an Aroma again. I just love how it's made, compared to the old type rice cooker.
Looks like all good sistahs are in bed by now...
Good night.. have a happy Sunday tomorrow!
Good night Jaye.
Had a wonderful time at Church tonight. Pastor JoAnn's husband is also a Pastor. His Church is in Yelm, a small town about 15 miles from here. This weekend they are exchanging Churches...Pastor John is preaching at our Church and Pastor JoAnn is preaching at his Church. We really did enjoy his sermon...his style is very different from JoAnn's...they are both very good.
Lower back is giving me problems this week...may beg off on the ride tomorrow...Bill will not be happy.
Have a good night and a good Sunday everyone.
Morning Glory! ....well, maybe not yet. don't know what's wrong with me! I was beat, went to bed at 9. drifted off, woke up hungry. got a snack, read some, tried to go back to sleep, not. been on here for 30 mins. looking for recipes for Thanksgiving.
At the tree farm, Ruth made a beeline for part of the 3rd field. (our 3rd year there). She had THE tree picked out before I got there with our reserved tag! so much for our pleasant hike through the fields and trees. Out near their driveway were some turkeys being admired and fed by others. They walked away from her. I found a stale bag of puffed corn on the floorboard, and she jumped back out to feed them. Guess they liked it, because they followed her back to the car! As we drove away, I looked in the mirror, and they were still following our car, too! LOL Ruth, the turkey whisperer.
forgot my sunglasses and got headachy by the time we got back. only got 16 irises potted, nothing else.
will read y'all in the morning - bet I'm not first with breakfast! LOL
Good Morning Glory!
not possible??? oh, yes, it's SUNDAY! Thank you Lord for such an exquisite day! It's about warm outside and the sun is just shining so bright! after a week of grey skies, how very like Him to remind us who made the sun, moon and skies.
Still a bit headachy - always in the sun - but heading outside to enjoy His world......and pot some irises. LOL
Morning everyone! Bon, don't work too hard, and don't forget your sunglasses!
Morning Sistas..
lol Bon Turkey Whisperer.. I lov e it.. Enjoy the sunshine out there today..
Cindy wow you sure have your hands full.. Looks like you have your work cut out for you..
Trisha the painting of the angel looks great..
Jaye will try my best to fill the tree.. I have never had one this bog so Im hoping I have enough ornaments for it.
Slep in this morning and wow it felt great but now I dont know what I want to do today.. Will be back later
Donna
I ended up with both boys (Kavin and Colby) most of Friday and all day yesterday, while they were finishing up packing and moving. They left at about 9:00 pm last night to start the drive to Florida. :o( They called this morning and were in South Georgia. They're taking turns driving and are going straight through. I will miss them so much. Kinda down today.
I've been making candy all morning. I sold 10 the other day and got an order for three more from the same ladies. I already had an order for 5, so I'm starting on the orders now. Hope I get more! Seems like the cashew brittle is the most popular.
I made mushroom soup and it is so good. It does make me toot though! LOL...
Hope you all are doing okay.
oh oh OH! Just have to share with my sistahs! Is so gorgeous outside I can barely sit to type.
Decided I was missing out on an opportunity to find planting space. know I've lost a lot of irises being sick and all. expecting losses in the expensive ones (they die first, right?) of up to 50%. Started going down the "Rose bed": the first four I came to, and the 6th, all missing. Bummer, that's more like 85% losses. Decided to go ahead and clear away the weeds that probably killed them to make room for planting more - - - and I found them! they are struggling, runner grasses were straggling them, all but one have increased, and 3 show some rot, which I'll need to treat or I'll lose them for real. Glory Hallelujah, God is merciful! Happy to find Supreme Sultan and Mysterious Ways, as a thornless blackberry decided to grow overtop of them. (Dumb me to put it in the rose bed!)
HEY DONNA - if I sent you some thornless blackberry babies, think they's make it there without freezing too bad and live in your basement?? our basement is heated. but they are growing nuts. it would take a couple years for you to get a good crop, but think on it and let me know.
Joycet.. Thats one heck of a drive believe you and me I know.. Where in Fl are they headed?
Bon I would love some babies.. I have heat in my basement as well.. Our bedroom is hal fthe basement so it stays about 70 down here so far and I have a space heater if need be I can face it towards the plant area instead of my bed. lol I have one blackberry planted outside.. would love to have more as there is nothing better than fresh berries..
Glad to hear your irises are there and not gone completely.. I need to do some work outside too.. We cut up tree branches yesterday after I got off work.. Max finished trimming up the walnut and mulberry beside the house..
Ft. Pearce... :o(
eww that is one heck of a drive... It took us 12 hours to get to Jacksonville from here or reverse that from there to here..
Hi there Bella, you are one pretty dog. I see you have a lot of wood chew toys, and keeping guard over them.
