Morning everyone! Coffee is on! There is some hot apple turnovers to go with.
Yum, at all the recipes posted yesterday! They all sound good.
Joyce how you doing? Glad to hear your Mom does not need to see the Dr, for anopther year. That is great news.
Judy, glad you stopped in. Sounds like you have kids in the house keeping you busy! LOL!
Looks like the holidays are creeping up real quick. Before we know it, we will be celbrating the New Year!
Where did the year go to?
Kinda cool here today, about 36 but nothing is frozen. Looks I will be cutting my brugs early if this keeps up. I don't want to lose them! Some are about to bloom!
I will be back later.

Morning ladies. ~~~LK! I'm doing fine today. We're having some rain, but that's okay.

Sold 3 pkgs. of cashew brittle to a DGer! :o) Love those lurkers!

Good to see you, my lil injun. Sounds like you're your regular cheerful self! So glad.

Jaye, hope things are going smoothly with Ali. All you can do at this point is just love on her and let her know she's not alone...

Dang it, LK, I'm trying to watch what I eat and those apple turnovers are just too tempting! I think this new arthritis med I'm on is making my mouth work overtime. Why can't my mind figure out that I AM THE ONE that needs to say "JUST SAY NO"!!!!

Hey Marion...what time is dinner? Do we dress up, or is it casual?

My ex-DIL's family always dressed up for their Christmas eve dinner. My family has always been casual, casual! Sometimes I even wear shoes....

Have a great day ladies!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh we usually eat about 6ish Cookie. If baked potatoes are on the menu I need to know ahead. Door always open--that is if you can push the junk out of the way. Yeap, still in a major going through, disposing mood. Can't believe all the things I saved but now that I am thinking clearly--out they go.

Oh my apple turnovers. Kim and I just found a recipe for apple enchilades that sounds so good. They are to be served warm with suggested ice cream. Yeap, I can go for that.

Waving to all, need to get dressed (yes still in jammies) and go into town. Need a few items plus prescriptions for the both of us.

Later.................

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Recipe please, Maid Marion...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Apple turnovers!! LK, you're killing me. Love them, even the ones from Mickey D.
Absolutely great with a dollop of vanilla ice cream.

Yes Maid M... recipe please!

Joyce good to read your mum's doing so well, that she's spared a visit to the doctors!!
Maybe you need to advertise on DG marketplace your brittles and especially your caramels.
Ali drank a full serving of his Ensure this morning. So, that's a relief for now. Each day we pray that the Lord spare him of all pains and just take him in his sleep. :(

Sistah Judy, send one lasagna over please :D Your house must be smelling like a big restaurant kitchen! So who does the cleaning up when you're through cooking for an army!!
Of course those that have met you will never forgot you! Nope, can't put Judy in the corner... she's one you can't ignore!!

Looks like I need to continue decluttering, like some of you ladies are doing now.
The night I couldn't sleep, that's what I did, get rid of yesteryear clothes.. you know the ones you wore when you're svelte and you can't right now, but hope that maybe tomorrow you can get back into them?
Yep.... got smart and say adios to at least 2 garbage bags.. even all the Victoria Secret frilly bras, I had to do a royal farewell salute!

I know some of you have an elaborate affair for Thanksgiving with your families. But again, it's just Kel and I 'coerced' into spending the day with PILs. Gonna be grilled hotdogs again... don't feel bad for us... we planned to hit our favorite country restaurant at 10.30 a.m before the hotdogs!!
Well, I miss the ones I used to have in Louisiana, where after dinner, you go to other relatives' homes and sample what they served! Cochon, cochon, cochon... as we'd called ourselves!
If you all are living closeby, guess that's what we'll be doing huh?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Ok, I will get the recipe and send.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Marion, how is your Mom doing?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Linda Kay, in one word: Crabby!!!! Health wise she is doing okay just not accepting the having to use a walker or wheelchair if she goes out. Totally blew her "stack" with me a couple of weeks ago and I still am trying to figure out why but I do believe it has to do with her losing mobility.

Okay ladies here is the Apple Enchiladas Recipe

1 (21 ounce) can of apple fruit filling
6 8" flour tortillas
1 teas. ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water

Spoon fruit filling evenly down center of each tortilla; sprinkle evenly with cinnamon. Roll up and place, seam side down, in a lightly greased 2 quart baking dish.

Bring butter and next 3 ingredients to a boil in a medium saucepan, reduce heat and simmer, stirring constantly, 3 minutes. Poour over enchilades; let stand 30 minutes.
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Yields 4 - 6 servings

The recipe if from Southern Living, March 1999

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my gosh, those sounds so good.
Sorry to hear your Mom is crabby, but I think I would be too, if I was forced to a wheel chair and or walker! I like my freedom.

Hey Donna, hope you have a great Birthday tomorrow!
Sleep tight everyone, Sweet dreams!

Raleigh, NC

Hey y'all. long long day. Made it to class. Got 3 loads of potting soil mixed and two loads used up in potting big irises before the rain started. Did some laundry, picked up a lot of clutter.

Well, the barbeque was good. I put a little too much mayo in the slaw. Corn on cob was fresh and tasty. Had a bag from NC State Fair of hushpuppy mix I decided to try. recipe on the bag called for 2/3 c. water to 1 cup of mix, then let it sit for an hour - well! that much H2O was WRONG, it was runny, very runny, but the hushpuppies were not bad tasting. In fact, this crew fought over them. The problem was at one point the hot oil reacted, exploded up. My hand with the spoon dropping them in was over the pan and my inner wrist on my writing hand burned.

Immediately under cold water. not enough, so immediately on ice. Tied thin dishtowel around my wrist and tucking ice inside. At 8pm called the pharmacy, asked what they'd recommend, then asked for an allegra refill. they said come on in (Kroger pharmacy is 4 mins away). waited at home until prescription was ready, and they had sterile pads, tape, and antibiotic cream ready too. Scott said important thing with my history is no secondary infection. The water and ice probably prevented blistering, they say.

It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow. Guess that forces me to stay clear of the soils that might contaminate this wrist.

Ruth doctored me up. now sitting here with 1/4 apple, glass of chardonnay, and saying good night, sweet sisters. Sweet dreams.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well ya'll are keeping busy cleaning out clutter, boy do I need to do that in this room! I've been busy busy at work this week. Ms. Cheerful is out sick through today with a viral infection, I hope she stays out through the week.

Ouch!! Didn't someone say that honey was great for a burn here? I read it somewhere on DG.

Well I'm going to make it an early night, so I'll see you hopefully tomorrow!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Good evening, I'm wondering why I made a appointment with the doctor because I ended up in ER for transfussion of 2 units of blood. He had me running all over for lab tests and x-rays then he insisted I use the wheel chair while he pushed me out to car where DH was waiting for us. No book to read and no computer to use so I had to suffer through that too. DH picked me up at hospital this morning and was so glad to go home. I guess I did need that blood, feel so much better and no more being dizzy. Add another pill to the bunch, iron this time. I should be thankful I have such a caring doctor. I will not go anywhere without a book to read, and DH said with a change of clothes. Ha!!!

I see I missed out on some good recipes, so have to go back and read some more. Think I will be early to bed tonight, couldn't do much sleeping last night.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Bon sorry you got burned with the hot grease, geesh, you need to be careful, and make sure you keep it clean.
Pegi, why did you need a transfusion? Are you losing blood somehow? You have to be careful od that too! My hubby had a bleeding ulcer back in June, and he had to have 7 pints of blood over a week in the hospital.

Happy Birthday Donna, Hope your day is filled with lots of love, and a great big cake to celebrate with!

Morning everyone! Picked up donuts on special as I came home from ferrying Jess to school.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONNA!

well, I've got work to do. Tons of it. but, not as much as 5 mins. ago. Just found out that my BIL and his family are not coming to Thanksgiving. BUMMER. so now we have only a few at the table. 1/2 ham instead of a whole, smaller turkey. If Bevin doesn't bring friends like in the past, we won't even need a second table!

this morning my wrist looks and feels like it got sun burned. good. wee bit of red, nothing more.

just tried to take our heavy duty shredder apart. it jammed up a year ago and I'm going to give up taking it apart - there doesn't appear to be a way to do that short of destroying the casing that protects us from the blades. on to next chore.

Happy Birthday Donna and Kim!
Extra hugs and kisses for you both! Wishing you a great day today, and looks like Kim is feeling justified with her chosen career.
Know that you both are loved by this band of sistahs/ladies.

Pegi, are you anemic too? My FIL's been given transfusion now and then to boost his blood cells. Take care of yourself dear lady.. we want you around us for a long, long time!

Hi there Sistah Judy! If you're not careful, they might make you stay at the cabin permanently!! Why don't you just get them some plastic utensils! Lololol.. next thing you'll be doing is chasing after Skittles to pick up its' feathers!

LK, how are you doing today? Hope your knee's not giving you problems today? Have you started on any quilting projects yet with your new machine?

Woooohoooo..... JD is voted the Sexiest Male!! Kel says that will 'stir' up our Maid M!! I do agree tho'... he EARNS the title again!!

Well, my pick and go has done retired... Another of those frequent moments when someone need to lit a match under my behind!! Or maybe I should google JD and drool over his pics... let's do so Bonnie.
That will definitely put anyone in a good mood!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I'm here. I've been lurking while I put the finishing touches to the dollhouse. Will post a pix soon. Plus I've been babysitting granddaughter she's been getting out of school at 12 all this week. Today i will pick her and a friend up from school.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh Judy, forgot to ask....Did you get the Datura Moonflower seeds? I mailed them weeks ago.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Marion that is a very sweet story! I bet that brought tears to her eyes, I would have been bawling!

Oh dear, I forgot that I bought cookie dough from Jeff. Now it's in the freezer and I didn't get full from lunch.

Raleigh, NC

uh, Judy......I have over 100 irises to go, and then may start on more. that's just the potted ones. I have about 400 irises to transplant, too.

class went well, had to be careful in jacuzzi, that burn reacted instantly to the water. it looks like a red thumbprint shaped only larger patch on my wrist, but all skin from palm south for 3" is very sensitive.

I see blue sky! Going out in a minute to chop babies for Donna.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes indeed that did make Maid M's day--actually I saw it yesterday and couldn't wait to tell Kim. She is a Bloom fan!! Tell Kel, he apparently knows me. LOL

Thanks all for your nice comments. Yes, Kim does love what she does and on days like today it makes it all worthwhile. Can be frustrating but then the good comes through.

Judy, if you love cleaning that much I sure could use you here. LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh yes, even the slightest warm water will make that feel very hot.

Yay!! It's been sunny here all day finally and I'm stuck at work and not able to chop those brugs down.

Thursday smiles for all, keeping it clean for Cindy's grandaughter :D

A new teacher was trying to make use of her psychology courses. She started her class by saying, "Everyone who thinks you're stupid, stand up!" After a few seconds, Little Johnny stood up. The teacher said, "Do you think you're stupid, Little Johnny? "No, ma'am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!"
--------------------------

Little Johnny watched, fascinated, as his mother smoothed cold cream on her face. "Why do you do that, mommy?" he asked. "To make myself beautiful," said his mother, who then began removing the cream with a tissue. "What's the matter?" asked Little Johnny. "Giving up?"

---------------------------
A Sunday School teacher of preschoolers was concerned that her students might be a little confused about Jesus Christ because of the Christmas season emphasis on His birth. She wanted to make sure they understood that the birth of Jesus occurred a long time ago, that he grew up, etc. So she asked her class, "Where is Jesus today?" Steven raised his hand and said, "He's in heaven." Mary was called on and answered, "He's in my heart." Little Johnny, waving his hand furiously, blurted out, "I know! I know! He's in our bathroom!!!" The whole class got very quiet, looked at the teacher, and waited for a response. The teacher was completely at a loss for a few very long seconds. Finally, she gathered her wits and asked Little Johnny how he knew this. Little Johnny said, "Well...every morning, my father gets up, bangs on the bathroom door, and yells, "Jesus Christ, are you still in there?!"
-------------------------
The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, "Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?" Little Johnny quickly replied, "NBC, CBS, HBO and the Cartoon Network!"

------------------------------------
At Sunday School they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny, a child in the kindergarten class, seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs. Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, "Johnny what is the matter?" Little Johnny responded, "I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going have a wife."

----------------------------------------------------

Little Johnny's kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures, tacked to a bulletin board, of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. "Yes," said the policeman. "The detectives want very badly to capture him." Little Johnny asked, "Why didn't you keep him when you took his picture?"

Pillow nothing--I have my monitor wrapped up!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lololol!!!!!!
I told Kel that and he said, for sure when we get down to your place.. we got to check out for drools!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the Thursday smiles!

Happy Birthday to Kim, hope she has a great day. Kinda hard to top the cake from her student! Bet that made her feel really proud?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You can tell Kel I don't drool. It will be clean and safe!!

Thanks Linda Kay, it did make her feel good as she has been saying he is capable of far more than he has been doing. A few low grades and a parent conference seems to have helped. Still isn't as good as the year parents sent her a dozen red roses for failing their son. Got his attention!!
