That's really kewl! Did you really make it?
~Susan~
Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends
Yep, thanks.....it's Acrylic paints and texture medium....
Trisha it's beautiful...had to look at it a few times to make sure it wasn't 'real' You seem to be enjoying finding time for your 'art'...keep at it..great way to make Christmas gifts!
Rushing out the door, will gab later...have my pruners, hip boots, hoping to cut some greenery for the girls class tomorrow...lol..no snow on the ground so I should be safe...
Just thought I'd share Kyle's portrait I finished last night...photo is not doing it justice...pleased with it, only Noah to finish and the 4 kids are done...frames came in for all of them Carol said, I'll bring the 3 that I've finished to have framed..of course, one was already framed but I couldn't match the matting so have to redo...
I'm not in a good mood today, Ms. Cheerful is so lame and she can't remember &*^&. She's nagging at me about her new contacts giving her eye infections. She decided to change eye doctors and go to the one across the street for work here, which is the same eye doctor half the office goes to. He prescribed her Acuvue Oaysis, which is what I wear and love them, and she's been saying for a good 2 to 3 weeks that they make her eyes red and now she has infections in both eyes, the left eyeball is swollen but she won't take the contacts out, maybe she should try cleaning them! Duh!! Guess she's rather complain than actually fix the problem. She's worn another brand for years, so I don't know why she doesn't just order the other brand.
Dave's work is laying off 150 employees today, that's out of every 3 employees one is going to go. I think he's safe, he's one of the hardest working Expediter's they have, plus he's on swing shift with one other person, so I'm trying to not worry too much. He's our bread and butter and I don't want to work two jobs, or find another job right now.

Woodspirit...love the rock garden..was that photo taken recently? Keep forgetting your weather is much warmer than ours...most of my gardens are now covered by leaves for the winter..most rake but I leave it till spring...such brilliant green colors in yours..love it..
Crissy, omg that is something to be worried about..is it union based? if so, regardless how great a worker you are it goes be seniority right? let's hope at the end of the day he's still employed..thought things were suppose to get better...
Did you get your telephone case? was it ok..
Good Morning Betty and all!
Oh Betty, I am so sorry to hear about your Niece and Great niece. I will keep them in my prayers for a safe and happy outcome. My goodness so young to have to learn that way.
Wow, Excellent job on Kyles portrait!
Had to have a great giggle on the Caught you working hard photo!! Hahaha, so cute.
Barb, I so agree about Dusty. And yep i am really glad she found her Home in GA, I got to admit a little bummed about it too, thought i was going to have great oppertunity to meet her at the Sistah gathering next year at Joyce's! Oh well, another time perhaps...But actually it was wonderful to meet her on the phone that same weekend, and best part she asked to Talk to me!! That was a grand suprise.
Was great to see you are getting your crafts in the finished stage. i am excited to see your photos!
Crissy, Yikes so sorry to hear about your mom's results. I hope all works out well.
Oh, Miss cheerful, should really, really get a different perscription! Sounds like she is allergic to the new ones...Well, guess she just want to have a good gripe.
Mary, how Cool, so glad everything worked out...Yep go cheer your sweetie on! oh my just a tiny piece of advise, you might be kicking yourself if you don't thin some of the herbs out, but i so agree they do smell lovely.
Hiya Woodspirit! nice to see you, been a long time. I hope things are going well....LOL, i feel ya on the weeding out, I get myself into more trouble with weed control.
Well, I got to tell you yesterday day started out just marvelous! Had sick daughter, the other...driving home from School and her wheel falls clean off her car! Luckily, she or anyone else was not hurt. Oh my gosh, I get this frantic call, she's yelling "mom! what you do if your weel falls off the car while your driving?? I mean it just fell off! Being right around the corner sort to say, I said I'll look up a towing company, call you right back. So meanwhile a lady in the car behind her, saw the whole thing. Stops and asks if she was ok and offers her a number to the local shell staition. So I jump in my car, go to where she is. She already called the tow truck and while we wait, we walked well behind the car and start waiving oncoming vehicles to move over...Lots of people waived in thanks, while others must have thought we were bonkers cuz, they didn't until last minute..lol you could see they were huffy about it too...Hello, should have moved over like we were warning ya. But for the most part we were able to keep traffic moving fairly well. Then the Local forest preserve police came and pulled up with his lights on, i was greatful, arms were getting tired. lol. So we are still waiting to hear the damage...
Then because I had to get a permit, realized permit ended the day before! So now i was driving around with totally expired plates! grrr...so took my chances drove all the way to city to get another permit. While there, the lady asks if i wanted an extended sticker. Geesh and it was only 6.50 per month, compared to 10 for a week permit. Geesh, why didn't the other lady tell me that? Then drove all the way back to mechanic where he reset the dohickey readings again. LOL, told me to tell DH not to touh gas cap again. ROFLOL, i already did.
So now i have to drive it again for many hours until the thing resets, go back on Monday morning. If it read it's ok, then hightale it to emissions testing pray it passes and get my new sticker in January....Po lease keep your fingers crossed. what a crazy nightmare this thing is, Geesh...So drove it around to heat her up for about an hour, lol I happily got a little lost, glad I did, found this neat company. They aren't hiring right now, but i am going to keep an eye on there careers list. And how exciting happened to come upon a Family Dollars place I never knew was so close!!
And a happier note, Finished my ornament for swap! but i have to wait till monday to ship, because used my last 20, for stupid sticker, lolol.
Well, Today is going to be spectacular! Going to take car for a and hour spin, look at all the beautiful Trees then come home and work in my yard, last of the leaves and just enjoy the weather! to be in the 60's!!!
So you all have a great day too.
Betty it's not union based and they have laid off almost everyone that is 60+ and has been there for eons. To be honest, they have laid off everyone who doesn't work, which Dave's been there 1 1/2 years and is a work horse, so that's good. Dave wouldn't have taken the job if it was union based, he hates unions for some reason.
I DID get the phone case and I look at it every day! I thought I dmailed you.. hhmmm now look whose got Alzheimer's LOL It is so pretty, I just love it! Thank you so much for doing that! Can't wait for my boss to see it, waiting for a day he's not stressed out. May be waiting a while!
Well I'm trying to read this and someone won't quit talking so I guess I'll wait. I asked if there were 31 days in July, she said, "Well, uuhhhh, lets see, most of the time there are. Why would you ask that?" I didn't respond, what a jerk she is.
OMG Crissy, I'm going to have to drop in and meet this gal..lol...
Hi Betty, was wondering how you are. So sorry about you niece praying for her and her baby.
Shirley, glad you keeping the faith Tell Mr. Tubby to just believe , God has the answers, loves you both. praying for you both.
LOL Now That would be awesome Betty, of course she turns on all the charm when we have a visitor, I could just see her try to out wit you! You would have her stuttering so fast her lips would fall off
Hello there Twyla, how have you been doing sweetie? How right you are, we just have to have faith do we not?
Checking the clock, almost time to leave for the day...have wood to pick up, oasis for tomorrows projects...pick out a new washroom zinc (hopefully one that sits above the countertop) countertop (not sure what color I want) groceries and then home..trying NOT to move my car out of the yard this weekend...
Enjoy your day..
Twila great to see you! We cross posted and I didn't catch it.
I believe faith keeps us going.. we have to have it.. and believe..
I'm aching hurting ,bad but its part of every day i do most all day and at night. i had to do several things today around house to appease him.
Take care thinking of you all. blessings.
So here's what Dave's boss told him today. They're not laying him off yet, but they laid a bunch of people off both temporary for 60 days and permanently. The ones that are laid off for 60 days come back January 2nd, then Dave and 2 others go on vacation for 4 weeks, then gets laid off. Of course things can change and none of that may happen. I'm so darn mad about it, glad he knows what might perspire, but I'm tired of living on pins and needles financially not knowing what's going to happen. We can't live on my salary alone.
Oh Twila that's not good hun. You have to take care of yourself because if you don't, no one else will.
Oh Crissy, let's hope things change for the best..now you'll be worried right through to the new year...not encouraging to take vacation time when you don't know if you'll have a job to go back to...are there any other companies that are in the same line of work that he might find other employment..guess that's unlikely seeing his company is doing poorly at this time...sending prayers that things improve...
Twyla, think my dear under the circumstances re your health that you do far too much..could DH not help out just a bit more than he does?
Woke up just after midnight, couldn't sleep so thought I might as well come downstairs and cut some wood kits, have my coffee/breakfast and who knows might get back to bed for a few hours...ohhh maybe not, don't want to make my bed twice in one day now do I?
Hello To All;
Trisha - you are so talented...I had to keep looking at the starfish because it looks 3-D and I couldn't tell whether or not it is.....still can't.... I have (bought) art with shells and it is some kind of 3-D paper mache......in white...but similar to your picture...One pic is starfish...the other pic is a chambered nautilus.
Woodspirit...your rockgarden looks great! not as if it has been untouched at all...I love those pots.
JUDY - how scary! I had no idea the wheel could just fall off your car.... You are so proud of DD ...I know...and how she handled everything....at such a young age.....It does scare me the thought of you guys directing traffic....I get so worried about roads....people are just so careless ...especially now with texting and all...
I had the very same inspection sticker woes last year...it was such a chaotic mess...But hopefully the vehicle will pass with no issues....
Crissy - So I don't understand...is he maybe laid off? or definitely laid off...but not till January? It seems like they are trying very hard to keep him....
I can tell you that BR has been somewhat immune to the recession...so if you are open to moving...there are definitely jobs here to be had.....and I don't think we're too far....
Betty - love that you drew all your Grandkids...now that's something they will keep and remember forever...
Well ....the whole day today has been totally different than I planned...but I did end up going to Lafayette...and then Lake Charles for the Play Off Game. We lost 24-20...but it was a good game....with the exception that the opposing team announced the game and he was very loud and actually cheering our opponent on....one time even announcing a touchdown...and then having to retract his statement.....How sad...and they were a Private Catholic School and we are public...more diverse. I suppose even the supposed elite can't 'behave' at times....... Here they were laughing at our football team....and on the other end of the scale...our Band (more members, more talented more organized) certainly outranked their (first year attempt at a band) students...and us Band parents were reminding our kids to applaud their band and not put them down...and to be encouraging....
How strange.
Oh well - Hugs to all....
Mary
Betty if he doesn't take it before they lay him off he'll lose it completely, they won't pay him for it. I think it would be a mandatory vacation anyway. They will be closing, they've done this since the beginning of time, the week between Christmas and New Years, so we'll see.
Mary it's a maybe. We won't know if it's going to happen until it does or doesn't, which is horrible.
I work for the State at a very good secure job so it would be hard for me to leave, plus we just moved here from CA 2 1/2 years ago, making another big move is not on the agenda. I'm glad we got outta CA though, we would be screwed there, which is why we left.
Mary I don't know if it's as strange as it is snobbish and rude! I think that kind of behavior coming from adults is flat out disgusting.
(((((((((((((Crissy)))))))))))))) dunno what to say except, btdt.
It's so difficult for you, and I wish I could give you a RL hug, but guess it has to be a cyber-hug........
Mary - parents are more competitive than their kids, usually, and also sometimes people "hide" behind their religiion and feel they're "more right" to win than others. They forget their upbringing teaches them to be generous with their encouragement rather than the other way around.
~Susan~
Crissy hope things work out well for you and Dave and the layoff does not take place.
Mary I used a modeling paste on the starfish...it is only raised about 1/8"....but in the photograph, even I am amazed at how dimensional it looks....
Well the day is half over and I am not getting much accomplished so guess I need to get away form this computer and get moving.
hope you are all having a great day.
Trisha - I'm with you - not accomplishing much
I need to get to the Quilting shop and show them my BOM so I get the next 2........
and finish my Apron swap, and going out to friend's tonight, and housecleaning.........
geeze - I'm Gonezo!
~Susan~
Crissy I'm in believeing prayer that it won"t happen.. praying for evreything to turn around.
Betty no he gripes what he does he hates to do this or its that. i did laundry today an few little things. I'm ok. better to be doing thna give him anothr reason to gripe.
i like to watch all police shows csi ncis Bones closer lots more he hates them all..
Take care.. Eevryone have a blessed Sunday..
I will pray for your family Betty, I am not sure of what happened and skimmed up to see but did not see, maybe it was further up or on the old thread. It sounds bad though.
Judy, my husband and I saw Taking Chance and both bawled our eyes out. It stuck with me too, now when I see the dead coming back home, I know what a journey they have had since their death and what we all think about it, as a whole.
Hello To All -
Crissy - I agree...It was really snobbish...I just couldn't find the word to describe it yesterday..but it really was....
As Far as the job for Your DH...I am really hoping that everything is going to work out...they've let go the folks they can let go...and according to the news around here...everything re: the Recession is getting MUCH better and Jobs should follow...so I'm hoping it translates to Arkansas...and your jobs increase as well....
Susan - their demeanor was just as you described...they seemed to feel it was their fate to win...the poor football team (ours) had to hear about it constantly.....
What is BOM?
Hugs to you All - I am looking for something to do tomorrow... :)
Mary
Block Of the Month
Morning, it's sunshine out there..omg can't believe the weather we're having...
Trying to make up my mind if I want to get dressed and drive to the Nottawasaga Inn - 1 hr. drive to see a craft show or stay home, relax by just taking out Christmas boxes and decorating..plus about the 2nd idea is I could stay in my p.j.'s..think I'll decide on that... next weekend is the 5 bldg. show in Markham..1 1/2 hr. drive from home..could leave right from work..just typing my thoughts has made my decision, next weekend it is....
Thanks Dawn, yes it is pretty tragic...the prayers certainly are appreciated...
Twyla, with all the health issues you have it doesn't seen that he's being fair, but sweetie you know best, sometimes it does pay to let things slide...sometimes (although DH's terribly missed) there is something to be said about being on ones own...
Susan, "BLOCK of the month"???? oh are you reminding me I must get my November quilt block done and out...now there is a thought...lol
Mary, that's such postive news about the economy picking up in your state...I don't believe the hard times as hit us as hard as the USA..something to do with our kind of banking system!!!
Liz, how is grannie doing? all the dust settling with the family ??
Waving Judy, you must be sitting at your craft table deep in Victorian Santa's..lol
With coffee in hand but no donut (now lost 15lbs.) I'm off to clean the last of the tables in the craft room then out to back shed for Christmas boxes...will share some of my treasures later...
Don't you all have special Christmas pieces????
Tubby/Shirley, you are both in my thoughts...
Good morning!! Coffee is on and fresh fruit for those who would like. Busy day today. Norm is going to drill out the holes for Sean's project. Sean has been sick with the flu so we've not seen any of that family for almost two weeks. They are all doing well and we should be okay from now on though. Sean will be coming on Tuesday to paint with Grammy. Betty, I thank you again so much. I'm going to try to have Norm take pictures to share as Sean "works" on this.
Hope this finds things well with your niece and her family. These kinds of situations are so hard to deal with and she is so fortunate to have a good support with her family.
Tubby and Shirley, we are praying so hard for you. Drop a note when you can Shirley.
Waving to Judy, LK Trisha and all . Have a great day.....
Good Sunday Morning!
Waiving hi back Betty...Well i really wish I woere working on crafts, but since the weather has been really really nice, WE got busy to take care of the leaves. First things first, Jake had his wrestling meeting, so had to go to that...
LOL, Mary, I guess those private school people don't need to sign a parental code of conduct! Geesh, how rude and totally un teaching.
But, you know your kids came out shining along with you parents. Well, I do hope things went well for work, I am glad you got to the game.
Our Varsity FB team played yesterday...will have to find out how they did. If they won, then i think they go to State! so fingers crossed.
Anyway, after that, Steve went and did his Sat. morning running around. Went to see what was up with Julia's car, Thank you Mary, yep i was very proud of how calm she handled it...So what happened was, the Ball joint busted while she was traveling. This happenedin the middle of an intersection, so her only thought was to get out of the way. So she kept driving to pull over and stop. While driving, she snapped the strut and spring and destroyed what was left of the tire, and something with the axle. Yikes, Well with all that needs to be fixed was turning out quite costly. So Dh got on the phone with bone yard in search of good used parts found needed items and the shop had 2 new tires. The mechanic worked with Steve to get it running and keep the cost down. She'll end up paying 650 which did include the tow...not bad, she was afraid it would be 2,000. Once they get this fixed he will be able to tell her if she will need to replace the other ball & joint, which then will be another couple hundred but then she'll be good to go...Better this happened now, close to home and not in heavy traffic...So I think she will have wheels Monday evening. She has been using my car to get to school and work...This is good for my car because of it needing to be driven! So far, so good light is still off, yay and yippeee. LOL I had to fill it with gas and ROFLOL, plunged that cap back on and turned it 3 times, lol I wanted to be sure it was on tight! In meantime, thankfully Alissa has been tooling Sabrina and Jake to and from. Jake gets picked up at 6:10 at night so Steve picks him up on way home from work...Julia's schedual is very broken througout the day so while she is home I do my running around. In between been working on household stuff, Friday had to stop everything to run to the building and drop off the air compressor...Yikes, had to play Mighty Mouse to get that in my car. Oh then to search for the hose, found it in the basement hanging, scratch my head on how the heck I'm going to get that down...LOL was sweating bullets by time got everything in the car...Was a nice relaxing drive. Ahhh so nice to crank my music and sing along, just like old times, lol.
So yesterday, Told jake we needed his help to split the logs. He wanted to hang with friends so he got right to it! Split all the logs that were behind the shed...The girls and Anthony got on the logs that were by the trees, restacked the new stuff in replacement and then split and stacked the old stuff...While they did that, i worked on laundry and deep cleaning the kitchen again. Yikes just hate fruit flies...Packed a mess of books to take to library and then Steve and I tag teamed on the the leaves. he did the roof and gutters blew all the front yard and mulched over with lawn mower. hauled all to compost bin...meanwhile i did the side of house and back yard. By this time, it was getting dark. The weather was gorgous so we decided to enjoy a nice fire had tacos for dinner and off to bed at 9:30, lol we were exhausted.
Today finish that, reorganize shed for winter and if I have energy, will continue with Victorian Santas, finish one of the little items i've been working on, need to create a second. I was able to get 32 Angel templates cut out so need to cut my strips.
I got to tell you, it is not very often we are all home at the same time and able to come together as a family to Work together, so I was in my glory! To see my kids teaming up to get the job done, having loads of fun at the same time, hearing laughter and discussion of how and then seeing their faces when it's done. LOL, squeeze in some catching up with dad and what going on...Now that is what makes my day!
Hiya Dawn. Funny you should mention, Saw a funaeral go by and looked for the flag. I know I'll probably be more watchful now too.
How are you doing?
Susan, Oh my you have been busy...Hope you and Betty get your Blocks done.
Crissy, Oh goodness, nothing like having to wait. I am glad Dave won't get laid off. Yikes, I sure know how you feel with that.
Thanks for the D-mail Liz...I hope as you see Julia, is ok she was just mad, can't blame her.
Hope you are doing well, how did the Garage sale go sell lots?
Linda Kay...Happy belated birthday to Todd!
Betty, your Craft day looked like a lot of fun! LOL that lady bending over makes it look like she has the snowman head..too cute. They did a reall nice job...getting excited and trying to clear the other crafts so i will be able to concentrate on workshop.
Hi Twila, nice to see you post. Keep the faith....Oh I love CSI, not all but I do enjoy Criminal minds too.
Lets see not sure, hopefully i haven't missed anyone.
Yikes another book, LOL...
So off to have more coffee, Oh congrats Betty, sounds like you are doing great...lol you deserve a donut.
Then back outside...See you later, hope all your works are going well.
Barb, poor little ones...takes a tole doesn't it? hope they are feeling better..anxious to see the photo's...it will look sooo adorable and think how proud he'll be to give it as a gift...the first few projects my grandchildren did were exciting for them, they couldn't quite figure out why they'd want to give them away..lol..some of the project were done again just for them to keep..
Think the parents have them in boxes along with my yearly Christmas Tree bulb I make them so that when they leave home they'll have some memories...
ohhh craft room finally cleaned..looking good for another 5 minutes..lol
I don't know Betty - five minutes is a LONG time!!!!!!!
Waiving Hi too Barb.
So sorry to hear Sean was sick, glad he is feeling better.
Oh now I will be excited to see His creation! That will be a fun day with Grammy!!
Judy, just missed you..they say I've always got things on the go..omg you all are busy..glad the family chipped in as a work force..many makes for light work right...
I don't do the leaves till spring..used us their layers for insulation, well, that's my excuse..more energy come spring...lol
Boy that episode could have been tragic..thank goodness she had the good thought of moving out of the way..nice to have a dad to go out and find deals for her..but then that's a dad right...Steve is just too cool...
How many cards did you say you cut...now you know how much time I put into the Mactier class and my mail out to you guys..but, was done with love....are all of these for you to do or are you getting a group of gals together..you should have done the straight tree, lot less cutting to do...
It's clouding over...think I'll go out and get a few totes and see where to put everything...maybe this year I'll leave lots in the back shed...
This message was edited Nov 15, 2009 3:13 PM
Keep missing you Judy..lol...can visualize you sitting at your computer desk, fireplace might be on, your table full of crafts supplies, Steve in the kitchen doing lunch..kids sleeping...how close did I get?
Judy, just put a bunch of Christmas snowman squares in the garbage, taking them out and shipping them your way..hate to burn them up...
Actually took photo to show you how pretty the tables look without all the pain on the table cloths...all new, I give it till the weekend to be back to paint botches...smart this time, bought heavy duty platic on a role, when they get yukked up, I'll change the plastic and the underneath will still look good!
Enjoy your craft day...
Betty while you are bouncing back and forth - I have question for you. When Norm does the holes with the countersink, are they sunk on the front or the back of the piece? We can't really tell from the picture. Thanks...
Barb, on the back of the piece...sorry!
LOL bouncing is what I really am doing...
I went to an old house yesterday and this morning, built in 1905. Our little museum is moving into it. It needs a total rehab, including wiring, plumbing, heating & AC, walls removed for more exhibit space, blah, blah.
But a friend who had us out clean-up her historic home took cuttings of the boxwood we trimmed and most of them rooted.
I decided to plant them temporarily until the construction is over.
I chose a place against a fence. Dear Lord, what was I thinking?
You couldn't dig without pick-axing first. I pulled out lots of big rocks, bricks, odd pieces of metal, rubber tubing, white tennis ball, and tons of sod. Then I did the double-digging thing. But unfortunately there wasn't enough soil left so I went to Lowe's and got 3 bags of topsoil and 2 bales of pine straw. I finally got it down and used 6 gallons of water I had hauled in my car. I hope some of them live, but if not, we have well prepared partial plant bed.
Next time, in the spring, I am finding someone with a tiller!
OMG, now that's an undertaking...do you think a tiller would do the job seeing it's a lot of rock and debris..pardon the smilling, but, bought several trees in the summer and had same trouble..almost tempted to leave them in pots..lol..but you sweetie, lots of work for free plants...I can well imagine you'll not be doing that again...
Seems we're all ambitious today...last weekend took about 4 totes out and today the rest...gee whiz, do I really like Christmas this much..
Barb, 5 minutes was almost too long...no sooner did I post that June dropped in and wanted to basecoat a canvas....oh/oh bright blue paint on the plastic already...knew it was too good to be true, clean craft room...(shaking my head) how's Norm doing with the drilling...the bit he has does accommodate the lights right?
