Sherrie - Hope he recovers soon! As Marilyn said, falls can be terribly scary!
Bill - no bananas yet! I've fertilized it and watered it well, so here's hoping!
Karen - That tree loses its leaves in about a month and then it will be a very visible highway of critters that we have fun watching!
Thank you, Pat and Jo Ann! That area is coming along, thanks to my son!
Celeste - that striped plant is really yellow and green...very pretty coloration. Mike picked it out for that spot so that it would show up from the patio which is a bit of a distance away. I really love that pink/white/dark green foliage plant on the left side. I think I'll buy one to put closer to the patio so the colors are more visible.
Marilyn - no tortoises that I've seen around here. I think the neighborhood cats and dogs probably intimidate them.
SUN thing to feel good about
Ouch!!!
That's what HE said - OUCH!
Glad to hear it wasn't worse!!
Poor guy----do they cast an elbow? How awkward.
Ooooohhhhh!!!! Sounds nasty! Yes, glad it wasn't worse.
Karen
Oh, yikes! Surgery?
Karen
That's painful, but no real biggie. I got terrible news this past weekend. A good friend - only 43 years old has end stage colon cancer. She has three kids. I keep hearing about young people with cancer lately. Scary.
Sorry to hear about that, Victor. That's very sad. My BIL from TX died 3 years ago from that, and he was only in his early 40's. Such a shame.
Karen
Oh, that's terrible. Sorry to hear the sad news Victor.
Thanks ladies. Hoping for a miracle.
This must be so hard for you Victor. I know you've lost a few loved ones lately.
Keep the faith Victor...miracles happen! ^_^
So sorry to hear about your loss Victor. I have lost 3 dear friends to cancer in the last 6 months. 1 in his mid-40s; 2 in their early 50s. One just passed this weekend. It's brutal. 2 of them rented a house together in their 20s and I do wonder if there weren't carcinogens in that house for them both to die of cancer so young? Will we ever know what we have been exposed to throughout our lives? Probably not. It's all so sad. I guess maybe one up side Victor is that your kidlings will not be exposed to such a harmful interior environment that we might have experienced.
So true, Dnut---my Dad had nonHodgkins lymphoma, probably from where he worked---he built eyelet machines when he was younger, lots of waste oil around. But he actually died of heart problems---now my brother is being treated for prostate cancer---it never ends---friends & family both---I'm very sorry for your friend, Victor.
So sorry Victor, Robin my Mom died from the same thing, my Dad was a brain tumor.
Thanks.
cancer is tough - my wife's friend lost her partner just two weeks ago.
Sorry to hear, Victor.
Thanks, Jen.
Oh, how terribly sad and upsetting, Victor! So sorry for all of you who have so recently lost friends and loved ones. Dahlia, how especially difficult to have lost 3 dear ones in such a short time. Marilyn - hope your brother overcomes and recovers. Dr. Oz says we must eat berries and broccoli as often as possible. I agree with that. Especially sad to have these losses during the holidays.
This awful disease is out of control. It's so scary. Sorry to hear of your losses everyone. Marilyn, hoping your brother pulls out of this okay.
The berries and broccoli make sense. I'd get the organic kind. Berries have very porous, thin skin, the pesticides go straight into it.
My brother's cancer has not spread in the last year, but his PSA is up so that's why he's having the radiation. I read an article that said men with his problem should drink pomegranate juice, so he's started that.
More and more, they're recommending older men do nothing if they have prostate cancer since it's generally very slow spreading. Most will be dead from something else first.
Lovely
Ya what flowerjen said
Selenium has been shown to help prevent prostrate cancer.
- American Cancer Society just released the results of a study of 50,000 men over 4yrs. Those which drank the most coffee reduced the incidence of aggressive prostrate cancer by 60%.
So start drinking coffee at four years old!
Cool! Brian is pretty safe then, he lives on the stuff.
And next year, there will be a new study that says men who started drinking coffee st 4 years old have a higher incidence of prostrate cancer--lol!
I don't put much stock in these studies w/o researching the study--ie: Who funded the study, who performed the study, what was the time frame, what was the population the study was done with--how broad was it? Also helps to know the original premise and goal of the study. Sometimes study results that look good on the surface are statistically inconclusive, or insignificant. And then there's the studies of the studies.....^_^
LOL! Amen PV! You have to read between the lines.
I ignore all studies now. I began doing this when they announced that drinking too much milk causes cancer and terrified all the mothers in the world. Who funds these guys anyhoo?
True, If I were a woman I'd be more worried about breast cancer than prostrate cancer. lol!
Who funds these guys? The guys that benefit from having the results come out a certain way.
They say licorice helps prostrate sufferers.
I'm going to apply for a grant to study the guys who do studys.
Go for it! You'll probably find a bunch of PR people making up statistics :-(
