Oh the things we do for love.....grin
Tall *Tree) Tales and Chain Saw Adventures
how about 3 bathrooms he started but only one functions? The upstairs bathroom is all in just one pipe needs to be done so the kids have thier own, but nooooooo. the 1/2 bath off the kitchen well, the toilet and pedestal sink are on the back porch so is the claw foot bathtub for our master bath...still not finished...with 5 teenagers, at least one of the other 2 being finished would be extremely helpful! I have a hot tub, it's been sitting in the driveway for a year still not hooked up, I have the footers to the greenhouse in, but still not done, and the garage he was building is starting to look like a bon fire for the holidays!
Lynnie thats too funny!!!!! Yep grab his foot every night after he goes to sleep and yell BOO to the top of your lungs! After a week of that he get on the move lol. Girls I have an idea------Hire a big good looking strong Swede for handy work, it would be worth the hubby reaction and I bet he wouldn't be there long lol
LOL
Why are men like that??? Why do they feel the need to start something new before the old project is finished?
I love when I try to help him with something (with the end result being to get 'er done...) and I end up being the 'helper' who gets the crappy job. DD's room had wallpaper-paint-more paint-more paint before we moved in. I said "can I do something in this room?" Guess who got to steam the stuff off the ceiling?
oh it figures! But god forbid we say something hurts cause they act like we don't know what pain is!
I bet if we tested their DNA --- it would all be identical! I love all these stories.
LOL that is so true!
yea if we could bump chests, spit and sling our arms when we talked or scream at someone on the phone like they do we could get er done lol
Ok gals here how it works for me.
I dunno bout your hubby, but mine cannot stand disorder or clutter. I mean he used to be so bad he would go to the shed for a small something, next thing I know out goes everything onto the lawn. I can't even get an xyz fixed until he cleans out the shed first because it is 'dirty' or needs more shelving. All to get a screwdriver you know?
So once this occurred to me, I had it made!
I am GREAT at tearing stuff up, digging holes and dragging 'stuff' home. Once I get a pile of material or a big hole in the ground or what not, I then wait a couple weeks or whatever. He frets over the mess until he finally can't take it no longer, and finishes it!
works for me!
Oh, and does your dh not like CHANGE?
oh, we can't move the couch! (like why not? It's not like the house will fall in if we do?)
So I do those kind of things, like painting the living room, while he is away. He always likes what I do pretty much, and it saves him the stress.
I wanted to paint the living room a carmel sort of tan color, and I knew it would look great, plus I found wall paper on clearance to match perfect, the paint was half off as mismatched color. I knew he would never let me paint it, because he would say it was too dark. He says that about everything. So when he was away on a work trip, I redid the whole room. He liked it very well. And even more pleased when I told him how much it didN'T cost us! But he just can't handle the stress of it all.
Ok lol I feel guilty now saying all this bad stuff about my dude.
So I guess in his defense, I have to say, that he does rub my back almost every morning for a few mins before he leaves for work. It is very nice of him. I feel awful in the mornings and I am NOT a morning person, so I have to say that this really does help me to actually heave my aching body out of bed in time to get my offspring on the bus!
He also does dishes.
Now mind you the only reason he does them, is if I decide I don't want to, or I am too busy............
he can't stand the site of those cluttered dirty dishes laying in the kitchen, it bugs him until he washes them himself just to get rid of them, I'm not sure that it really has anything to do with 'helping' lol
Frilly lady now we were just the opposite, he could vision what the room would look like moved a certain way. Well I move it around and around and usually wind up back the same way it was two hours later. I hated it when he was right lol
Lol a woman is NEVER wrong, she just changes her mind :)
I must say he had his little quirks but overall was very helpful and smart. One of us had to be. lol
well in all fairness I should say, I did get hardwood flooring on the first floor and my big screened porch...
We were constantly using used material for building and what not Lynnie. Had a sign at work that said something like I have had nothing for so long that I can do everything with anything. Came up with some pretty good results too lol
My DH is sure that DIY means Drop In Y'all.....grin
Everyone feeling guilty?
OK, so I haven't had to clean in years. He does all the cleaning. However, if I want the wood all polished up & everything back where it belongs, I have to do that. He "dusts" with the vacuum attachment. But I'll take it!
Wish he'd leave the laundry for me, though. Get 'er done is his motto with that. I keep gently telling him 'don't overfill the machine, clothes come out better that way'. If he knew I double-rinsed the whites (when there IS enough on the weekend) he'd have a heart attack. I know, it's not environmentally friendly, but I feel the need.
mine does the same thing, smiley, had to re-wash 2 loads of towels there were too many in the machine & they didn't clean well.
OK - now I feel guilty.
I get my back rubbed too
He makes coffee to help me up out of bed (the fragrance of the just perked...)
Now it is ME who goes into some room or shed or closet to get something and then the entire thing gets pulled apart and emptied. He calls up from work and is worrying what project I have started....I go in the bath closet to get a washcloth.....opps all the towels need to be refolded. Look down and there is dust on the molding in that closet.... Wipe dust off the molding ....but you know it really needs some cleaner in water and a good scrub.... well..... what is the use of cleaning a closet floorboard....the whole bathroom should be cleaned.... and that extends to the bedroom and then if you are going to do the floorboards....why not the paneled doors....and if that...why not the windowsills....... before I know it the entire house to me seems like the wood is nasty and in needing of a scrub.... and all that just to get a washcloth. If I look for a CD..... opps ALL THE CD's NEED TO BE put in order and while I am at it, I will do the DVDs...and then while I am at that...first I should dust the shelves.... before I finish that, the knick nack ON the shelves will need to be dusted and while I am doing that -----ALL THE knick nacks will will dusting..... and while I am at that, I remember that I wanted to move some of the knicknacks around from downstairs to upstairs... ...but while I am down there I notice that something else needs to be done....and before you know it all hell breaks loose. So I confess it is ME with the OCD and ADD and so he has to live with that. Getting the food closet in order..... every can lined up......date order so that nothing is out of date... SO you can imagine what it is like for me --living with a guy that saves every single thing, screw, rope, nut, paper, plastic bag,
instruction sheet, that he has ever owned..... WHY do we need dried up glue in a tube? If we replace the bed pillows......WHY must we save the old?
Uh oh...I am supposed to feel guilty?? Nah.
We do alot of stuff for each other, ALL the time...And OH my gosh, i am by no means a neat freak.
LOL, tell you the truth, i fit right into the Vise President of the procrastinators club position.
He puts up with my crazy antics, cleaning binges as well as, I kid you not, The maid has died stikes that can last for months!
Those are my get totally lost in reading, sewing or crafts. Then it's my stuff all over the place.
Plus, there are 5 youngins mix all their junk and the mess they make..
Friday, when I stopped chatting was because He called and asked me to Please bring his compressor to work site...LOL, not thinking asked where it was, DUHHH, was in the foyer! rolled it to my van Mighty Moused it into van and got to go for a nice ride singing to music.
So...all in all not feeling so guilty.
Awe and every once in a while he'll bring me flowers and I'll be nice and schlep for his beer, gotta smile at that.
Oh yeah the whole reason for my post is to say I learned long ago any time he says it will only take "This Long" I autimacally add 2 or 3 This long to the time.
He gutted my entire living room just so he could hang a painting he received from a friend. Now mind you, we talked about duing this for about 8 years. This was around August, said it would only take 3-4 weeks. Oh I was thrilled. No problems, well it took 4 months!! He got this fantastic rehab job that took up a lot of time. During week, too tired at end of day. Weekend He was working on the summer house...I was going bonkers, until realized nothing I could do about so just ignored it, helped when I could. Then one day he wakes up and gets working on it. Had no other work for a time, guess what? took 3 weeks to finish! And, I do have to admit the painting is Really Cool and i love the room too.
That's the way it works... give & take, push & pull. I don't think any couple would survive any other way, but it's nice to be able to vent the small stuff sometimes.
Ain't it funny how their brains are all hard-wired the same, though? Let's not talk about a tv remote ~ we ALL know what happens when they get a hold of one of those...
I still haven't figured out what ALL the remotes do. I 'know' just one - the rest make no sense to me and the one does a fine and dandy job---so why do we have 6 remotes on one table?
Yep...in agreement, It's been oodles of fun venting...
LOL, i am just glad it isn't just me.
Oh my gosh the Remotes, good gracious heaven forbid those batteries die!
LOL, Rosie, i guess i'm lucky only have three, the only one i know how to work is the one for television, everything else I do the old fashioned way and push the need on off buttons...LOL
yes and notice how they all program different? I spend half my life trying to get those things to work and never have the directions for the one that quit working lol.
we have some crazy TV I can't even turn it on!
I need the darned manual for ours. It's the one they give you with the digital cable, but I think it's programmed wrong. Guess who programmed it???
Anyone seen the commercial... not me. And I'm sick of watching 2 programs at once. Their fingers go for that remote when the screen starts fading to black!
Wow seed that must have been some painting to instigate all that work lol
we have an old tv hooked up to a dvd player and a vcr. We don't have 'tv' though, no antenna.
modern technology, I guess its better than standing with foil on your ears with hands stretched out trying to get reception lol Where are ya missingrosie we miss ya!
Good morning.
Flowers, LOL..Here is the Painting!
This photo is only a portion of the Gallery wall.
Now see the ledge with all the photos, It wasn't there(well, it was but wasn't wide enough place anything on.We had alot of them hangin on the wall, itself. DH walked around the house with it until he decided it shoud go there...Hence complete tear up.
We call this room the long room. Very long and quite narrow...I painted that brick red, it was very ugly white with black lines, always looked unbeleivably dirty..And the room was very discobobulated, lol now it's just dusty and always cluttered.
Wow seed that is AWSOME!!! I too love the Indian art and have decorated my living room in the nostalgia. Love it can appreciate all the work. Good Job Hubby! You did great on the bricks.
Nice room, Seeds!
Seed, Flowers, you may be familiar already, but this is one of my favorite artists...she passed away in 1997, but her art is timeless.

Nice stuff, Moon, and really reasonable, especially for an artist that's not around to make more, which is too bad. I like the style.
Nice moon, she had it pegged for sure!
wow! look at those pics! I love that chubby baby! Of course your painting is very interesting too, but nothing beats a chubby baby in my book.
The prints are inexpensive/reasonable because most of them are available in calendar, datebook form. Her work is a beautiful blend of then and now, magic and reality...She has quite a portfolio.
it does look mythical Moon
To put that stuff on a calendar seems a little demeaning it should be in a Gallery in my opinion.
