My husband cut down another tree today. (sigh)
He throws a rope over it and then asks me to pull on the rope so that I can 'influence' the path of the toppling tree. He TRULY believes this can be done. Yes, he knows about notching it etc. etc. but today's tree was curved up and over a fence with all the ornamental trees/shrubs / yard art at risk on the other side of the fence... and on both sides and behind the tree -- forest.... He hates it when the tree lands on another tree and doesn't make it to the ground.
(How he gets those trees to the ground is another story...)
One time I watched him cut down a tree and then proceed to run RIGHT UNDER IT! When I questioned him about his directional choice, he said that he he didn't mean to head that way but he got excited and his legs responded before his brain kicked in.
Another time... while washing dishes and gazing out the window --- I watched him single-handedly take down a huge section of fencing. (He still doesn't know I saw that feat!)
So are any of you cowboys out there in the garden..? Do you ladies have husbands that risk life and limb when they get a chain saw in their hands?

Tall *Tree) Tales and Chain Saw Adventures
I wouldn't even be able to watch, missingrosie! eek!
my idiot ex was like that, decided our chevy lumina was strong enough to tie the rope to and use a pull guide on a 40' oak, landed on the back of the car, worst part it wasn't our car! My friend Erin had been loaning me the car for the last 6 months because he blew mine up screwing around!
Trina sounds like a reality show...
I wasn't home at the time, but ya get the sense of why he's the EX, don't ya! LOL
Oh that story is more horrific than anything I have seen going on in the yard. Maybe I shouldn't complain....
he had a very bad habit of destroying vehicles and losing jobs! in the 6 years we were together he had 11 different jobs usually off work at least 3 months inbetween them too
Maybe he had an attention deficit disorder - sometimes adults with this have these patterns of lots of jobs and not being able to hold jobs. Not well diagnosed years ago. It can be very hard on those who have it.
no he was just lazy. hated to work period! if he wasn't asleep he was trying to figure out to go back to sleep or screw someone else out of something he wanted
oh well ---- a dud------- (smile)
and it is never good when your significant other is jealous of your child!
And in that scenario the child is the one that usually has to take the higher road. More's the pity.
yep so good bye and good riddance
And that's all she wrote!!!!! HA!
LOL, thanks for listening to me rant on your thread!
mrosie can your hubby come up here? I have a stupid silver maple I would get rid of but it hangs over a nice red japanese maple. Its not That big a tree...plenty of room for it to fall , if it can be persuaded to fall in the other direction from what it looks like!
my dh is careful with the chain saw, its the other things he gets crazy with. Almost dropped a slab of sidewalk on his leg last week. Lets not even get into analyzing the sensibility of moving that slab of sidewalk... if it makes him happy...LOL
My DH built a ramp to get into the shed with the mower (by the way the mower has NEVER MADE it into the shed.... but if you could see the work on this ...the infra structure...the bends...the supports.... the screws..the nails.... the crossbars...... all for that silly black snake that lives underneath.
LOL mrosie! I think you're married to my husband.
Sounds like some of the projects here...planning in great detail,,,and planning and planning and planning....but the details are awesome....grin
Sounds like more life insurance is needed girls, those men sound dangerous lol
well over here there's more planning & thinking than action....hahaha
I hear ya Lynnie....if i ever get the fire lit....maybe I should just try selling the plans and hire someone to do the job...lol
mm hmmm if ya want something done, ya gotta do it yourself....or at least get out the power tools & make a mess *grin*
To get one project done, I brought the drill and circular saw inside....when hubby called, I turned them both on and shouted I couldn't hear him.....then asked how to change the blade on the saw.....grin....got the job done.
Great strategy moon, sounds like things I use to pull lol. I'm getting the mechanic shuffle now. Been to three different ones and they can't find the miss in my motor, nothing is wrong with it but it won't pull a hill and is using gas out the ying yang and shaking my rear view mirror so bad I can't see behind me at a red light lol. Geeez men and their games!!! Think if I dress up like a man I can get it fixed???
LOL I email mine at work honey where's the hacksaw? do you still have that sawzall? I can't find the power drill.....
either a man or a stripper Flowers ;)
how bout honey I'm trying to build new cabinets but am having trouble with the chainsaw in the kitchen.
no if I stripped they would run for sure Lynnie rofl Maybe I'll disquise myself as a hooker. Got any fishnets I can borrow?
hahaha! JJ might have a Hooter's girl outfit you can borrow.
JJ where are you I need to borrow something...... Can you send the hooters with it as I'm a little short in that dept.
Or you can talk about Sven, the Norseman at the Home Depot who has offered to help fix what the hubby can't.....smirk, snort, grin
Sven? He doesn't work at my home depot lol Send him an e-mail will ya and get him over here. lol
probably have to go to a specialty store for sven...
can't , trying to save money lol
Sven only exists in hubby's mind....makes a wonderful ego nudge though....grin
well back to the drawing board I was really counting on Sven lol I'll just do it myself, how hard is it to pull a few spark plugs and change a few wires anyway lol
Flowers, missing and gas usage may be from fouled spark plugs, faulty spark plug wire, condensation in gas tank or trash in gas filter. Those are fairly easy to check.
Well the einsteins that looked at it already said spark plugs are fine, wires are fine, one couldn't get the computer device to read and fuel filter was replaced last year with tune up. Will hopefully find out tomorrow, have another one gonna look at it. It must be so old no one knows how to work on it lol
Crossing my fingers for ya, Flowers
