this site was referenced in one of the books i read and the quality of the stone cutting is excellent. pricing actually is not bad, it is the freight charge that is as much as a lantern. need to buy two too make it reasonable. the one i bought locally and returned was the oribe style, it did not have any carvings, window inserts, or pre-drilled hole to run electric. it also was much more expensive although the freight was only my 45 minutes of drive time.
It's Fall in the Northeast #4
Wonderful!! Tasteful. I love anything Asian.
chicken feet?
This is a great place locally.

Yes, paper weight size is a good description.......do you mine? I go to Deer Hill in Stowe to mine for amethyst. I like the hike, like to dig in the dirt and I like rocks so it works out perfect.
Thanks for the tip on Mt. Washington, another place is Lord Hill Quarry in Maine. It's a nice hike, has a beautiful view of Horseshoe Pond and lots of different minerals. BUT...watch out for the Northern Rattlers. DH won't take me there anymore because of them. LOL
This will tell you what minerals you can find, elevation, and directions.

Yup! Chicken feet used in chicken soup makes it much more yummy.

Boo--gorgeous photos-I've had my 1st digital camera (Canon Powershot A590IS) for exactly one year today, and just as I predicted, I want a better one--like yours! LOL I love the closeups!
Patti--I love the Lilly--great photo, and the colors are beautiful!
I buy a new camera every 2-3 years. This was the big leap to DSLR-I moved from a Canon Powershot (yesterday).
I added that one to my forums, pv. Thanks.
Love those lily shots JoAnn and Patti.
Congrats on new camera and it looks like the orchids are posing for their beauty shots. Good pics.
Pretty rocks, you gotta be a little bit of a rock nut to live here in the NE.
Nice shots, Kathy! So you were able to connect directly?
Good to know Kathy--so I have a ways to go before I've mastered the Powershot! LOL! That's how I rationalize waiting to get a better camera--that and $$$. Nice leap! I also saw your pics on the Orchids forum
Oops! Missed that the lillies had 2 different posters! Sorry! Yours are beautiful as well Ge!
A word on the video option. Not important to me, but it seems all the rage now to have HD video in dslr's. Best thing about it is the ability to use all the good lenses. Taking up space is not a problem at all in my camera since it has separate compact flash and sd cards. You can dedicate one for video. Others have this too.
Never been into video here, I've had the option with my Lumix and now with my DSLR Nikon, never used it. DW uses her cell phone to capture video of authors interviews & book signings in Manhattan, low quality, but then for high quality I'd use a dedicated video cam. they have incredibly small ones now that can fit in a pocket.
Yes, I have a pocked-sized HD camera.
Yup, the direct connect worked. Good point about storing on the cards. I'd like a little pocket-sized one for filming my students. Great eval and therapy tool. Next year maybe. Has anyone used editing software?
Gorgeous lily, JoAnn and Patti! I might have to get me some of those.
Kathy, your orchid shots are great! It's nice you have a new camera. Congrats.
Karen
Thanks Karen! It's so neat that many of us know each other in person. I saw your smiling face in my mind, Karen!
Very nice photography, all of you---and I loved the stone lantern---one mineral that I have from Maine, Pixie, is a tourmaline--it's set in a ring, but with my hands swollen, I can no longer wear it. I love the watermelon variety, but it was really expensive.
Tourlamine is rare to find but oh so lovely!! Like you said, EXPENSIVE too!! LOL
I love tourmaline, too. Would love to have a ring with that stone. My favorite stone is opal. I have an opal ring that a friend gave to me that I just love.
Karen
That's my birthstone!
Mine is turquoise, but I like tourmaline better.
Garnet.
Garnet also
Pearl/Alexandrite Ruby I have two....so does Boojum as she is Oct. and has Tourmaline/Opal .
Oo!!
Emerald. Green like my garden in May. My half-birthday stone is topaz which I just learned. Very crystally. Perfect for my November garden ^_^
Emerald is mine too--what day?
Hee-hee...perhaps a trip to the Emerald City is in order?!!

May 17th phoebes. Definitely in for a trip to the Emerald City to visit the poppy field and ride the horse with the coat of many colours.
Diamond
May 28th--I want the make-over--ha-ha! We're off to see The Wizard!!!
Update on my color. The Itea Saturnalia still has about half its colorful foliage. The Pee Wee oakleaf hydrangea has not lost any! Neither has the Spirea thunbergii Ogon. Amazing.
Yes a makeover would be in order so we blend in. This will be me except with dahlias on the hat oops link didn't work. try again http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.gigisdolls.com/Tonner2007/Wizard/EMERALD%2520CITY%2599%2520Merry.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.gigisdolls.com/Code/TonnerOz2005.htm&usg=__C9JCzrC08WvaoXfSErAAFmpDAis=&h=549&w=354&sz=26&hl=en&start=52&um=1&tbnid=o381V52ESnxA0M:&tbnh=133&tbnw=86&prev=/images%3Fq%3Demerald%2Bcity%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D40%26um%3D1
