Driving home last night, taking a back concession I saw a farmhouse with a beautiful Christmas Tree lit in their front window....
Don't tell, but I purchased a Christmas gift for a fellow DG member who sure could use a 'smile', well I was showing the girls last night, you press this little penguin who is holding a violin and he starts to play it, bow moves while it plays silent night..started to cry...with losing Roger New Years' day (year ago now but still fresh) it brings a lot of emotion! I'm hoping I don't make this friend cry!!! lol

3rd Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop..Pt.3
If you do Betty it's in a good way!
For those who have not yet done their Christmas Card - Iris Folding Technique....I thought I'd also move this info over....
When you get your card, carefully remove the white cut insert that has the angel from the decorative scrapbooking sheet...watch the corners I cut for you, don't want to damage them because we'll be putting the angel insert back onto this paper...
Now you take the design, the numbered sheet and try as best you can to make it line up with the cut out angel, tape it lightly to secure to card stock, I say lightly because the tape will end up on the front of your card, don't want to rip anything now do we...
There was 3 or 4 pieces of gold paper, one I crimped and it can be used for the round face and halo..you are now working on the white cardstock with the pattern facing up...you may have to cut the gold piece of paper slightly larger than the face and halo...tape it to the card..now you can use tape to your heart's content but remember you don't want tape to be seen in any of the openings or it will show when we eventually put the template numbered paper off the cardstock...
Don't worry about wings, face/halo numbers...later if you want to put more work into this pattern you can do it the iris folding method..but for now, you will take gold paper, cut slightly larger than the wing and tape it down, always good side down...
Now we are ready for the triangle part of the project (dress)...see all those numbers...now fun begins..
Take note...
On a piece of paper, take your 3 choices of scrapbooking paper that you've cut in strips and folded in half and cut a 1/2" piece of each...
Put 1 of your choices and mark #1
Take another piece, your 2nd choice and mark #2
Take the last piece and mark it as #3
Remember, each piece of paper is put down so that the fold line is towards the center of the open area..also when putting each piece down, cut slightly longer than the length of the number you are doing, tape each corner...
These 3 colors alternate..
#1 on 1
#2 on 2
#3 on 3 then
#1 on 4
#2 on 5
#3 on 6 then
#1 on 7
#2 on 8
#3 on 9 then
#1 on 10
#2 on 11
#3 on 12
#1 on 13
#2 on 14
#3 on 15
What you will be left with is a little center negative space not numbered..on most I put either silver/ or gold/ or alternate plain color depending on what paper I've used...
Was up bright and early this morning..only a few more pkgs. to wrap tonight then pack them in my trunk..was taking mom's van but it's in for transmission repair so it's my small car that we'll use..my plan is to fill the trunk as best I can..won't take more than what fits in the trunk, don't want it showing just incase border authorities want to check each pkg...drats, would that be a problem..what won't fit, if any, I'll post from here on Monday..I'm hoping though I'll not have to do that...
Then comes which I'll take if I'm limited...decided that I'd take the largest parcels with me, it's got to be cheaper down there than from here...so keep your fingers crossed won't you...
Today a lunch I have to pick up travel insurance for both myself and mom..she just reminded me that with her van not at home it's difficult for her to go get hers..so, I'll pick it up...
Hoping to have the craft room cleaned again so when I come home it won't be there...of course on never knows IF Cathy and her Mom while dropping in the to look after the animals will take pity on me and clean it up...think I'd better clean me own mess..lol
Should go back to see if everyone has received their cards...
Betty, boy you really dont stop,Gosh I hope you slide through the border, that could be a real drag. Iam soo looking forward to the project.Tamara
I'm sure it will be fun...brrrr it's so cold out there, snowing to beat the dickens..won't stay though because it's calling for low 50's for the weekend...am sure Buffalo will have much the same weather....
Got an e-mail today re the craft show in Hamburg N.Y. and the sales at the Christmas Tree Store....lordy, they sure know how to tempt me..
Eating Lean Cuisine, weight watchers brownie and water at my desk..spent lunch time picking up travel insurance....glad they had a little bookles for notes (size of passport) so I'll make a list, check it out twice, maybe even thrice..lol...so I don't forget anything...
Got my card yesterday! Love it! Haven't got the nerve to do it yet, but I know I can!
Of course you can....if my instructions don't make sense at the beginning to this thread, go back to #2 thread for photo's and instructions...need to see all those cards....
Betty I just don't see how you find the time or energy!
I can see how these might become addictive,I want to do more.Need to go to hobby lobby, better make a list !!!LOL SEE what I can get myself into .Betty that one is beautiful
Ok the instructions on here seem easyer to understand must be getting the dust and cobwebs out of my brain, I will go get more paper tomorrow and try and do it all over again. I'm going to get some more card stock, too. Then I may try and do a pattern on an iris out line. I love the ball one too. See you've made me get busy so that said I have one more apron to finish so it can go in the mail tomorrow, had to stop and go to town and pay bills yuck and get some more thread or it would have been done this morning. I would love to have some snow, we are sitting at 72 degrees right now and it should be up to the lower 80's by this weekend. So save me a snow ball, lol. Everyone Have a Good Day. Susan
Prayers going out for your Country...tragic events in Texas..do hope all your families if in the military are safe...

Morning everyone...
Busy here this morning..yikes it's 4:40 - another 1/2 hr. and I'm ready to pick mom up in the city..light rain but that's not a problem, it's NOT snow!
Glad you've all heard from family and l oved ones...thank the Lord they are safe...prayers for the families who've lost their loved ones... prayers for the family of the man who did it..what a legacy to be left with, can you just imagine....
Tell you a story about my cousin and her 3 children being murdered another day..learnt compassion after seeing his (husband) father and family at that funeral....
Trunk is packed to the hilt...sorry about 8 kits could not fit..going out first thing Monday morning..most the pkgs. not mailed out are for some who ordered 2 or 3..kept one behind so that everyone would be getting something...
Trisha, glad Laura enjoyed getting a 'card' didn't want to exclude her...in the mail there is a little packet mailed in care of you for "MISS SAGE" hope she enjoys as well...
Best get a move on...
If the hotel has computer in lobby I'll let you know how I made out at the P.O.
Lordy, should have gotten one of your telephone numbers just incase I NEED TO BE BAILED out at the border....
Enjoy your day
my nephew and his wife live on base at Ft. Hood,Thank god he is in alabama, and his wife and step son were onn their way to alabama ,he called me last nite.Very Very sad things like that happen, inocent people dying for what, makes no sense at all.
Good morning.
Betty, Hope you have a fantastic time...
Yikes, very sad to hear what went on yesterday.
...Betty, thank so much for doing the santa faces. They look great.
Be safe in your travels.
OK, so made a new Angel card, following the directions!
Turned out nice.
Wishing you all a fun craft filled weekend! I'll be away till Sunday.
Those turned out nice Judy!
I don't understand why some people do what they do, how very sad.
Betty you drive careful!
Very nice card, I'm going to try again today, but I'm lost on one thing the strips of paper do cut them all into 1/2 inch pieces or just certain ones, everyone have patiences I think thing to death before I try something again. And anothe question you tape the pieces onto the white paper with the graft one, on the bottom one top of the other right or am I thinking that wrong. Thank Susan
We were lucky no one we knew was in Ft. Hood at this time but its just heart breaking to think about all the men and women stationed there having to go threw it. Keeping them in my prayers. Everyone Have a Wonderful and Safe Weekend.
Susan:
1. I cut the strips as I went along as some were longer and some were shorter - just fit it to the spot and then snip it a bit longer.
2. Put the white paper with the cut out on top of the one with the pattern (graph) so you are taping onto the plain white paper with the cutouts.
Thank You fancyvan, I think I understand now and looking at your card I understand how the colors are suppose to go together. I'm more visuial than reading incline and yours for some reason is clear to me, must be the old age thing, lol I like the bright colors. Ok we're off to town I'll talk to every one later. Susan
Very nice fancyvan! You'll get it Susan, hope you had a good time in town, even though I know what 'going to town' always means for me... lol
I'm waiting for 20/20 to come on, Rhianna's going to be on talking about Chris Brown and other what-not, want to hear something other than typical office drama!
Have a great night everyone!
I made another one and it was a little easyer I'm going to keep trying till I get it I'll put a picture when I get my camara out tomorrow. Susan
Oh cool! I wanted to get fabric today so I can make a satchel for my Victorian Santa and got busy with yard work and now all dirty at 6:00pm, doubt I'll be going anywhere.
Was going to say, good evening all but shucks it's still afternoon...been quite a weekend..almost time for a rest...
You must have all been praying because I crossed over the border and no one checked the trunk..thank goodness!!!
All but 5 or 6 pkgs. got sent...tomorrow I'll start mailing the few I had no room for from here..shouldn't take too much longer ..the man at the post office was wonderful..what would have cost me over $17-$20 from here was $10 or slightly under..I was thrilled..
Got a room after visiting the post office but was too early to check in so off to Hamburg N.Y. for the craft show...I didn't realize until mom told me there were 4 bldgs. not just 1..was smilling at that...
Many things I'd loved to have brought home but just no room..you wouldn't believe just how much did come home with me..wow..trunk was full..
Checked in around 4pm and off to do some more shopping..by now I think I was overtired..mom said she isn't well and her leg was bad but I'm going to tell you it took all I could to keep up with her...lol..
Finally had a bath/p.j.'s and ready to relax..guess I fell asleep by 10pm and woke just around 12:30 a.m. (don't tell mom but she sure does snore!) tossed turned so finally got up, had brought all those Christmas card kits to work on for Tuesday's class so worked on them until 5:30 a.m. - mom woke from time to time and told me to go to bed, she'd fall back asleep and I'd continue to work...
Must have gotten about 1 1/2 hrs. rest ..back to bed at 5:30 am and up at 7:00...of course you just can't go to any restaurant, it must be cracker barrel...lol...only about 1/2 hr. out of our way...managed to get myself a couple beautiful dressy tops..then off to a zillion stores...
ohhh company, be right back..
I'm back, neighbor dropping in to see 'what's wrong with me' lol
Tell you about that shortly....
After a long day of shopping we got back to hotel around 5:30, had dinner brought in, bath and p.j.'s..too early for bed so worked on the Irish Folding card kits again, I'd go to stop and mom would say, 'more you do tonight, less you'll worry about tomorrow' omg was 11:30 pm when I went to bed..slept like a baby till 5:00 this morning...don't think mom was thrilled at having to get up that early but I wanted to be home early and have the day ahead of me....
Unpacked the car...this was my treasure, mom almost had the same..lol
DIL Melanie dropped in .. she was on her way to Collingwood for Noah's hockey game and out for dinner..Greg was here working on shrink wrapping the boat...
I had picked up a beautiful black rod iron candle holder with greenery around the bottom and scrolled green candles..she took it home..should have taken a photo..will next time I visit her...always like giving her something before Christmas to set out as decoration that is unique...
She left smilling ...
That was yet another large item in my vehicle..lol
Many of you know I teach workshops near Christmas, one day 'make and take' and was running out of what to make for this year...I've 3 ahead of me and omg even if I don't make this project, I bought one for myself..looks lovely on the front deck..I'm sure with a little snow added, few sparkles and the lights flashing off and on at night it will be spectacular..hard getting into my trunk though....
So now I'm unpacking the car, it's about noon, in the high 60's..so unusual..boys are here shrink wrapping the Foxy Lady for the winter and they are working with t-shirts on...I get the brilliant idea that each and every year I'm outside starting to set out some lights in freezing cold weather, usually a blizzard to 'today is the day'...
So while the boys are working I have them taking out the boxes of trees....they are impressed, here they are working to beat the dickens to get the plastic shrunk and I'm saying, 'another Christmas box please!'
Thank goodness they are patient with me..lol...
I get all the lights around the front deck hung, 5 of the trees in front of the deck, decked with lights all the while testing to see how they look..
I have attached to the house the Christmas music box where you plug all your lights in and as it sings Christmas Carols to either traditional, rock and various other sounds..I have it as loud as can be..neighbors sitting outside not quite sure if I've lost my marbles...must tell you, when it's 30 below and they are out putting Christmas decorations out I'll be the one going 'ha/ha/ha!'
Now looking for one of those projectors that make it look as thought it's snowing to finish off the outside decor come winter...now you must remember, out Thanksgiving is over and shortly it will be Christmas season, for me it's now..1st class is next Sat. here...so need to be someone in the Christmas spirit...
So, I'm now on the deck, looking as my new Christmas craft, fluffing up the tree for the outside front deck, lordy it's a beautiful tree...it hits me, this is my good tree for the basement rec. room NOT the outside deck tree...soooo 'Greg, need this tree taken downstairs and need another tree'd box'...smiles but I'm sure he's saying something within...(or maybe not)...
