Morning Moon!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning Lynnie....Coffee and On Call....what a way to start the day....grin.

Like today's thought? Good basic info, that...grin

(Zone 5b)

yes, i repeat it often at work....lol
well it looks like we got it...one kid home sick today. Wish us luck.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Morning Moon, Lynnie, Smiley,

Nice thought of the day moon.

Early bus ride, long way to school? Better get mine a movin.

Have a nice day. Hope the weather is nice and warm for someone.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Maybe it will just be regular old fashion flu Lynnie. One can hope.

Sending antibacterial thoughts your way!! Good Luck Stay Well

(Zone 5b)

there's a huge outbreak here, I doubt it, plus she had her regular flu shot....

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning All!

Moon, I love that line. I remember when Son was little, he used to watch "Follow That Bird" all the time (sesame street movie). When Big Bird goes off to wherever he was going (I forgot), Grover told him "don't forget to breath... in and out..."

I still think of that every now & then.

I love Hagar, they don't have it in our local paper anymore.

Everyone have a good day!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

We'll keep our sanitized fingers crossed for you Lynnie.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning JJ. Recuperate from all your stair-climbing? Did ya pull out the Thanksgiving stuff while you were up there?

Yeah, do not want the kid to miss the bus....12 miles and 3 school zones...and a ton of traffic....and I am not a morning person....just a pretender....grin

Lynnie, hope the little one gets well very soon, but if your house id like mine, just about the time she is better, the other one will be sick...funny how that works.....grin

Hey Smiley! How we doing at the bank? I for one hope their fingers fall off.....nasty buggers....grin (the crooks, not the bankers....grin)

(Zone 5b)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the good thoughts!
JJ that stairclimbing will have to be the workout for both of us! lol
I may as well have another cup of coffee, then I can clean for a while.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Yeah I recuperated.
No Thanksgiving decorations Moon...a couple table decorations maybe

Go straight to Christmas and most of it is in the outside shed, or in the hole under the stairway...grinning.
The stairway has a built in bookcase and I made DH make it open like a secret room so I didn't have to haul all the Xmas up to the attic. The tree I bought ouldn't fit through the attic opening very well.

Then had to buy a shed to put outside things in so didn't have to drag it all through the house frozen and snowy, and the hole was already full of inside things.

Halloween and Christmas are decorated alot. Thansgiving is just lots of food!!

Better go. Dumb me answered the phone now I have to go to work.arrrrr

Lynnie sounds like you will be doing a lot of cleaning. Following her around with the lysol can.

Good Luck

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

So far, so good on the banking thing Moon. No action for about a couple weeks. Unfortunately, they probably moved on to another unsuspecting bank account.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Have a good workday, JJ. That'll teach ya to answer the phone on your day off....grin
I asked about Thanksgiving, cuz I have a friend here who decorates for EVERY holiday...all the major ones, plus Veteran's Day, Memorial Day....even Columbus Day and President's Day......grin Just making sure the addiction wasn't spreading.....grin

Good deal on the bank, Smiley. Sure wish there was some info sharing, what to look for, that could be posted to help businesses avoid that kind of theft....

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ok anybody still here? what did I miss? Man do not miss a day your dmail fills up fast!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hello Trina.

Okay, finished picking photos and voting. There are a bunch of really good pics there. Good thing there is a limit on the number you can vote for....choice number 16 is......grin. Figure I may have to go back and review a few times....lol

I looked for Footless.... but he wasn't in the running...eww....bad pun, sorry...grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

that was funny Moon.
Hey guess what, turns out my toothache wasn't a toothache! it was a piece of glass!!!
but Doc took it out and gave me some antibiotics I can actually take, and a little something that works better for this type of pain.

and I got 3 boxes of trades yesterday....one is jam packed with spider lily bulbs if you would like some Moon I would be more than happy to share!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Eating glass is generally not a good idea.....grin

As for the Spider Liliy bulbs, thanks for the offer, but they grow wild here....grin

(Zone 5b)

Trina is one tough lady ;)

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

LOL Funny Jean.
No Footless didn't make it into the contest. Our White Rock and one of our brown girls did. And so did Simba, and Buddy together, and one of Babie.
And yes venice, the leaf one did go in. I had a hard time deciding what group to put it under.

OK, off to the vet now with my big guy, then I have to call work and probably run out there and pick up something. They are finally going to have us get the H1N1 shot........Tomorrow, my sleep day before I go back to work......They would pick that day!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Moon what color are your wild spider lilies?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

That seems par for the course Kassy....of course you can't get it during work hours....that would be too easy. Hope all is well with the big guy.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

The spiders are white. I also have Lycoris, which is called spider lily by some. Those are Golden yellow and a couple of the red ones have volunteered.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

And trust me I did not intend to eat glass, and definately not an experience I ever wish to repeat! EVER! I'd rather give birth to twins...at the same time

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

so what kind of dance do I have to do to get some yellow ones Moon?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Just make a note to remind me when I dig some for Babeegirl in the spring, and I will dig up a couple for you also. These are the Lycoris aurea, not the wild ones, which are crinum americanum swamp spider lily

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

that's ok...I like the swamp lilies, just thought I'd see if you had any....ok since you're here, how does one 'Plant' a sago palm? it kinda looks like I'm just supposed to kinda snug it down on top just a little

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

here is a step by step for cycads (the sago is actually not a palm)

http://www.ehow.com/way_5144767_planting-cycads.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

palm not a palm...I know if your not careful it might as well be a cactus! LOL

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Not a cactus, but a dinosaur with very sharp teeth. Cycads were actually around way back then. They are among the oldest plant species.

Keaau, HI

Good morning everybody! Aloha aku!

Thinking of Crinums, my Crinum augustum is about done flowering. Hopefully it will make bulblets.

Don't let me forget Jean, if the plant does not make bulblets, I'll be digging you up a couple bulbs.

Thumbnail by Metrosideros
Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ok let me rephrase.....how do I plant these?

Thumbnail by trinawitch
Keaau, HI

Hey Trina, can you show a photo of your Sago?

True Sago Palms are Metroxylon species. Metroxylon sagu being the main one. It is widely cultivated in tropical areas for it's edible starch, or sago, which is found in the heart of the palm.

Some Cycads are also referred to as Sago, because of their edible starch.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

those little suckers p there bite back from every where too if you're not careful!

Keaau, HI

Hi Trina, looks like you have Cycas revoluta, King Sago. It is a major source of Sago, or edible starch, in Japan.

Plant the plantlets about half way in a peat based growing medium, which is loosened up with perlite. Keep the medium moist but not soaking wet.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ok I just didn't know should I bury it or sit it on top or just put alittle ways down in the dirt...basically I didn't see typical 'roots' so I thought i'd ask you and Moon

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Hey Dave is dragon fruit edible?

Keaau, HI

Dragon Fruit Cactus, Hylocereus undatus, is edible and delicious, and very nutritious!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

cool for once I traded for a good thing...next question....what does star fruit taste like?

Keaau, HI

Star Fruit, Averrhoa carambola, tastes like Star Fruit.

What do Apples, Oranges, and Bananas taste like?
