Coffee Break #21 - World Series time!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that's funny

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

we did not have one kid show - we also lost electric for about 2 hours last night from the high winds taking a line down. as usual the older homes to the right still had their electric. we loss our a half dozen times a year or more and they have only lost it during the ice storm last year. frustrating!

South Hamilton, MA

No one showed up, many houses on this block had the light off, though ours was on. All the kids right here have grown up & sometimes people speed, so they may have been told to stay on quieter near-by streets. We had bags of chips ready so will eat it ourselves.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

H1N1 seems to be popping up all over. A number of people in my area now have it.

There seems to be a link between obesity and severity/fatality.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Interesting, I just lost 4 more lbs....whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats, Jen!! What are you doing?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Besides having a cold, I think the only differences this week is for dinner I had light meals(but not just soup) Usually our dinners are really hearty and I didn't really do any snacks just 3 meals. I was thinking about it awhile ago that I seemed to stop losing my baby weight when I listened to all the "experts" that you should have 5 small meals a day, I think I was thinner when I only ate 3 "normal" sized meals a day. Maybe that works better with younger people, obviously not working for me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Back to H1N1 - scary that kids are dying. 19 just this week. Can't believe there is such a shortage of vaccine. They had almost a full year to prepare and promised there would be plenty for everyone by early October. Typical.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Met my new neighbor yesterday. He's an arborist! How cool is that?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Allison - that Picasaweb tour was fantastic! No wonder you won! My favorite thing is how the ghouls look like they are rising out of the ground. You guys put SO much work into that! Congrats!

Jen, Dave and Karen - I hope you are all feeling better by now!

Pixie - I'll keep some prayers going for DS! Feed him a steady diet of your chicken noodle soup until late spring! Hopefully, you and Brian can avoid the flu, and that will help J. Keeping you all in my thoughts!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Awesome, Victor! Bet he bought his house after seeing your gardens and trees!!! I think he's looking for cuttings! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. He does want a tour.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

That's how they all start off! Keep an eye out for some shears, ziplocks and wet paper towels in his pockets!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ironic thing is that he has a very tall oak which blocks my solar panels for a few hours this time of year. I was kind of hoping someone who did not particularly like trees would move in and remove it!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That's cool Victor, but guess he won't be cutting his oak tree.

Thanks Louise feeling MUCH better.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How awful is this?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

That was bad and was on the news quite a bit here

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Horrible. The surgery went well. Hope they lock that idiot up a long time.

Thomaston, CT

Could not bring that one up on the computer---lucky, you, Victor to get an expert next door! Sorry that your son needs surgery, Pix---just found out last night my son is going to be operated on the day before Thanksgiving---tonsils & adenoids----he's blaming me for not having them seen to when he was a kid---however, when he was a kid, the doctor said he needed his tonsils---go figure.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Unreal. People are just idiots sometimes, it's a GAME get over it.

South Hamilton, MA

Glad that they know who did the hit. Some people don't have any self control. there is a case being sent to court here of a high school player removing another one's helmet while he was on the ground & bashing him. His attorney says that it should be left to school officials. I think Not, the other boy has head injories & even if the 'basher' get probation because of his age, she should suffer for doing such a thing. It is not as if the injury was part of game play, it was interntional.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Terrible, Lucy. There should be zero tolerance for that crap. It's assault, like any other.

South Hamilton, MA

Sorry about the typos.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

The photo judging has begun!! Theres great pics in there.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

DH was a high school football official for 25 yrs. Luckily he had the backing of coaches when the kids got a little upset and misbehaved. Luckily not to this degree!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thank you Louise!!.. well Jada I know what I am doing with tomorrows coffee.. looking though photos!!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, how awful about that referee! That is intolerable! Yeah, I hope the guy who did it gets some serious punishment.

Louise, I'm over the flu, but feel like I have bronchitis now. I'm very prone to it, especially whenever I get colds and such. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning. Will see what he says.

Yup, Jadajoy, I've been looking through photos tonight. Fun!

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

feel better Karen!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - feel better, Karen!

I'll look at the photos starting tomorrow. Watching the game now.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Karen, hope the doc gives you good news. Feel better!

South Hamilton, MA

Too late at night to look at photos--tomorrow?

Karen I hope Dr can do something. I know my asthema Dr. says if you ever have trouble breathing, call immediately. Did so last April & they got me right again, unfortunately medication raised the blood sugar, but if I can't breathe, it wouldn't matter.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I started to vote on some of those categories with the least amount of pics, it's tough there are some really good ones and then some really bad ones, makes me wonder if they knew they were posting in a photo CONTEST.

I think they messed up a few times though, I saw some duplicates.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Good Morning!

Ditto Flowerjen.

Victor, how serendipitous about your neighbor! Like attracts like.

How is Dave doing? Bettter?

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I think I'm in about the same place as Karen. The flu (and the worst symptoms) are gone. But I have slight asthma, but its enough to turn any cold or flu into pneumonia or bronchitis. This time it's pneumonia.
So I'm still tired & coughing (not as much).

Thanks Joy.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Glad both you guys are better! Rest, rest, rest...

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I worry about returning to work. The work pile is getting huge and it will be difficult to go back w/o it being 10-12 hourdays. Looking for feedback from my primary care provider re when to return. I may go tomorrow.

Oh!! There is a topic that has dropped off our thread. Ironically, its been my best medicine.

Go YANKEES! What a game last night.
Bill, have to thank you and the rest of Red Sox nation for Damon. What a gift.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for all the well-wishes, guys! I just got back from the doc and I have bronchitis, so starting on antibiotics today. Will return to work on Thurs. hopefully. I had a feeling I had bronchitis. I get it whenever I get a cold, so at least once a year.

Well, more rest, rest, rest!

Karen

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)
