Coffee Break #21 - World Series time!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Bill: No David & Goliath series according to this David. The Phillies are scary good.
That feeling you get about Jeter's walk; could it be repressed attraction?

South Hamilton, MA

Jeter is one of the few Yankees who doesn't annoy me. At 74 any so-called attraction means nothing to me. character counts & I have never heard a nasty interview with him.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i do like blue eyes - my wife's are blue - still do not think that it is repressed anything - he just has a cocky persona

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

could be another throw down tonight!

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

Only thing Bill's repressing is his desire for viburnums - those blue fruit clusters - but he's wearing down.

Even seeing visions of them around his stone walls...

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

The Cleveland fans weren't too happy when those pitchers were traded away. You should have heard the ruckus here! I live with an Indians fan. Makes it hard when the Red Sox are playing them.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL, VV
I see you have the random fun plant today, congrats

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

john i found more of those vibs today in the woods - actually a big clump of them down towards the pond - will probably move a couple over on the spring - and fill in the area with the the variety you recommended. and those big ones will be moved as well to let them fill out, that is going to be a job!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yay Allison! So happy to hear that! Hope you win, you certainly deserve it!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Stealing plants from the wild, Bill?!!

I agree with Dave - you're obsessed with Jeter. Hmmm. I'm a die-hard Mets fan and I can't help but have nothing but respect for him. He's a class guy, a sure Hall of Famer and is more Mr. October than even Reggie.

Get ready for, 'Who's your Daddy?!!'

Thomaston, CT

Wow, it's taking me forever to catch up with the news! Many weeks without a computer stinks! Hope the Yanks win tonight---last night's game was awful!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Welcome back Robin.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

From the wild? no way not me! neighbors yard - and these vibs have lots of roots like Mt. laurel so they will come back according to john

i am obsessed with people who think jeter is not a cocky sob.

saw that like did not work - check out photo 5

http://boston.com/sports/baseball/gallery/102809_sixreasonstorootforPhils/

do not blame Pedro for the throw down - he was charged - gotta love the gerbil for going after him in the heat of the battle.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Bill, Do you like Mariano Rivera?

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

I will give you a perceptive from a none Yankee fan.
Mariano Rivera is a great pitcher. But the Yankees give him a lot of chances to get saves.
He would be appreciated more on any other team!
I hope you understand the point I am trying to get across.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Caught my daughter's cold....NUTS!!!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

dave you are putting me in a corner - yes - and there are a few others too

when he tipped his cap with a huge smile to the sox fans when they cheered him while he was being introduced on opening day 2005 at fenway before the ring ceremony - that was great!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Bill what makes you think that Jeter is a cocky sob other than his walk?

Personally I think that the media and NY fans gave him a zillion chances to be a snob sob when he first came to the Yankees. He remained true to the sport and a gentleman. This is coming from a person who was NOT a Yankee fan at the time. I was rooting for the Sox in 03.

Here comes Utley.... strike one

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

cg - i think the main reason yankees have won as much as they have is because of rivera and he is appreciated in NY - at least the sox seem to get to him every now and then

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

venu - he is over rated - not that good of a short stop - a-rod should be there to be honest - he will go to the hall of fame and has does come up big in the playoffs, although not lately - and yes he is not in the papers doing bad things - although he dates all sorts of starlets and gets little attention for it - meanwhile a guy like tony romo in dallas is harrased when he does

some people rub each of us the wrong way - jeter rubs me the wrong way - i do not even like the way he stands :)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

He just creeps me out and I don't know why.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe because Tony Romo has never won anything?? And maybe because Jeter's girlfriends are not on display at the game?

I disagree about Jeter vs. A-Rod at short.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

if you disagree at who should play short then you are dead wrong - a-rod had a gold glove, range at short, and a gun on his shoulder - jeter would not move to accommodate him since he was the "unofficial" captain of the team - not many guys would do that - a-rod did.

watch romo this year

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks Weeze & Pixie!!!... well we won 1st place!!!.. don't know what the prize is yet... Randy said the guy that called said we won hands down and unanimously.. they all enjoyed the visit to the house.. and more and more I keep catching cars sitting out front checking it all out.. can't wait for sat now!!!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jeter Has 3 Golden Gloves, escorted the Yankees to a few world series, and presently has 5 hits and A-Rod has none in the this series.......I'm typing as fast as Jack is yelling this stuff to me.....PS..Jeter has scored more runs this series then A-Rod has......PPSSS..A-rod has scored more but not necessarily in baseball^_^

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Fantastic Allison.....you deserved it...............and we want to come see it tomorrow........really!! tomorrow!! will you be home after 5?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats Allison!! Not surprised at all. Kudos to you and Randy.

Yes, Weeze beat me to it, Bill. Jeter is a gold glover too. And when they were both younger, Jeter was quicker and had better range.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - another bad call!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks guys!!! Weeze you have D-mail

:)

South Hamilton, MA

congratulations on winning the contest. Creativity & hard work pays off.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Congrats Alison!

Something else I never saw before in baseball. A double play called when 0 outs were made (That and Jeter looking stupid). Should have been bases loaded with 1 out instead of 3 outs.
Oh , now a mistake inthe Yankees favor.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thank you!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Bill, It's the intangibles that push Jeter from very good to great. Never cares about personal records. Thinking the game 2 steps ahead (Which is why he makes plays no one else does) And being clutch. Which is why he is more valuable and loved than the stronger-armed, more powerful, better looking A-Rod

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Go Mo!
I agree with Bill on that. The Yankee MVP for the past 15 years is Mo.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Quoting:
PPSSS..A-rod has scored more but not necessarily in baseball

LOL!!!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No argument there, Dave.

What's with these ropes they're wearing around their necks now? Why must baseball players wear anything??

Bill thinks Jeter is cuter than A-Rod. ^_^ That intangible quality in his walk.

Victor, You got me to laugh. And with this pneumonia I'm fighting off, that's pretty painful!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Jen, I'm gonna one-up you on catching your daughter's cold. I caught the flu this week. Been sick since Monday, if anyone's wondered why they haven't heard from me, that's the reason. Been doing mostly sleeping, feeling lousy, reading, watching TV. Still not over it. Been out of work all week. Not the H1N1 strain, though, thank God. I got my flu shot this year, too, but guess it didn't work for me. I will be back to work by next Tues., hopefully.

Oh, Dave, poor you with pneumonia. I guess that's worse than flu. Hope your feeling better soon.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh bummer for both of you! Feel better.

Walking pneumonia, Dave? Sit down.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Victor.

Karen
