Yes, just a normal bronchial cold, we pray that all it is and you will be feeling better very soon.
Yummy, those apple dumplings sound so good.
I went over to Wal-Mart the other day and I went by the craft/fabric dept. and noticed they still had a lot of material for sale. I was going to ask about the store doing away with the fabric, but left well enough alone. Maybe they are just selling what they have on shelves, no more coming into store. Now I am so so curious. When my mom passed away she had enough material in plastic totes to start up her own shop.
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞170
Hmmm.. maybe the 1/4 cup cinnamon is for sprinkling over the dumplings once they're done? Cookie...
Hello everyone. I'm still nursing a bad hip and Darvocet 'allows' me to move some.
Susan, hope you're resting your vocal chords ;)
Pegi, my fav. WM. store at the beach has stopped replenishing their crafts and fabrics. Then my local WM's c/f department is soooo pathetic with their supply, but I'm not complaining...as long as I don't have to drive an hour just for the basics.
BAD SISTAH, LK!!! Why must you entice some of us with that link??? I have a few panels waiting to see the light!!
Cindy, looks like Steve is getting serious? Is he the one?
I know Crissy will find something to 'entertain' her at work ;)
Have to make this short as this chair is NOT good for my fat hips!!
Maid M..... don't you go hiding on us now!
I spoke to Maid M, and she's out and about today. She was "on the run" when I called LOL
Yes, Jaye - I'm resting the vocal cords..... Been on the phone 4 times today, and the laughing is Definitely not helping, so I'll see if I can laugh in private, Quietly lol
~Susan~
Jaye, you take it easy, and watch those darvocet, they seem to creeep up on me, and wham, I am out for days!
LOL, Not good when laughing hurts! Susan, you take it easy too.
Thanks LK.......
feeling headachey, and a little weak..... think I'd best go lie down.
~Susan~
Thought you were taking it easy Susan :P
Hehehehe.. happily ripping away here.
My nickname should be the Grinnnnnn Ripper....
What's going on ladies????? Jaye, you do need to find a way to tolerate that darn truck. I feel so bad for you.
And Susan, please say that this isn't the dreaded kind of flu. Get plenty of rest.
And how is everyone else? Up and about I hope. ~~~~~Barb~~~~~
Barb, you know what's wrong with me..
it's that dreaded incurable disease, call "STUBBORN"!!
I'm just plain stubborn!! Kel got me a stool to help with getting in the truck, but noooo.... I got to do it my way :(
Then, instead of just planning on paper first, cut out the 'templates'... or easier still, purchase a pattern... but noooooooooooo... I got to do it my way :(
So, how's my day? If not for the Darvocet, I won't be happily ripping!!
Most of what I have read on these threads, is the flu is going around bad, and up in the north east states, they are telling everyone to stay home. Don't go to the er, or doc, only if it is real bad! some are saying the regular flu has not even started, so if you have flu symptoms, it is most likely the swine flu. SO please be careful, carry hand sanitizer with you, and use it ofter.
Ooops... forgot to post that I'm doing the Christmas apron swap. Don't worry Buddy, any holes.. I'll just do a satin stitch over them ;)
LK, I carry boxes of anti bacterial wipes! Even wipe the WM buggy handles before I touch them!
Darn it all. Hi! sisters!
Darn rain can't decide to come or go. spits a sprinkle, stops in seconds, two hours does it again. I need to spray - I found aphids on my new irises. DRAT.
water aerobics instructor gave us a hard workout today because she's gone next week. Had to ease back on the arm/shoulder moves - mine are overworked from shoveling. Then birthday lunch with the class, every last Friday, at Mimi's. was great. now i'm ready for my nap.....zzzz...but the mixer is calling to me....
Susan, take care of that cold
Joyce, bless you for this recipe. gotta try it.
Jaye, oh girl, I've seen photo of you, no hips there. (grin)
Samigirl, I dread undoing all Mom's fabric stash. some of it is as old as I am!
...and I married a former Navy guy, now software designer. I had young children. so I made a rule in my house: 1A - the only cussing allowed is to be directed at computers, and only computers; 1B - tossing them out the window is allowed if and only if you open the window first.
Yep Jaye, I think you are right. I told him last night that I was thinking of going to Collbran, CO. in Jan he just about FREAKED!!! Wanted to know what was going on, when, how long. GEEZE!! Told him it was just to visit my cousin and that I want to do some traveling. He says "Well you let me know when you leave" I told him "You're acting like I'm leaving tomorrow" and besides I'm thinking about it, I need to save money for flight. I have been checking out the area where my cousin lives and it is beautiful. The bar/resturant where she works is up for sale and if I had the money I think I would probably buy it. I know that I'm not going to be able to afford to live in Calif on my diability. Mom and I are already struggling with our bills. My car registration went up $70, mom's health insurance went up 20%. Steve and I have been talking about our future knowing that we won't be able to retire in CA. Of course neither one of us can do anything about leaving now with both of our mom's depending on us. He keeps talking about Montana, but has mentioned CO, Ore, and Idaho so who knows where we'll end up.
cross posted with some of you -
Jaye, somewhere back about 30 "removes" and 12th cousin-ish, we are related to John Paul (as in my maiden name, Jones). you think he was determined? or brave? HECK NO. STUBBORN. He knew the British'd kill him if they got hold of him, hang him from the yardarm. He was determined to stay alive. Stubborn = won't give up or give in. Am convinced it's a genetic condition - all my family has it BAD. When ex spouse tried to tell my family I was suicidal (just before the divorce), my dad told him "anything happens to Bonnie, we're coming looking at YOU." they knew me (us) too well to believe him. LOL
I DESPISE fighting and bickering. Won't do it if I have another option, prefer making peace. without another option, I will FIGHT TO WIN, period. I don't give up or in. if I'd not been stubborn, I would not have stayed so long trying to make a bum marriage work. Common sense would have dictated leaving in the first year. so, sometimes, this is not a good thing to be.
so, Jaye, you are not alone.
My maternal g'ma used to say "I'm not Stubborn, I'm Determined"
(same thing, different wording....)
I'm going to lay down Right Now!
feeling headachey, and tired, and just plain achey....
cough is getting much better cuz I'm not using my voice (didn't go to choir practice last night - I know better!)
I've seen some people carrying paper towelling around with them to open doors, etc, and others who say "they're panicking - silly people". I know of one fatality in Calgary because of it, and physicians who say the regular flu is worse than H1N1.
ok, I will not tell a lie - I am going to lay down NOW.
susan
Sorry, the last ingredient is 1/4 c. sugar.
Good evening sistahs
Im so sorry to hear that so many of you are all feeling ill. It seems there really is so much going around that we are lucky Tristen is recovered pretty well once she got her medicine from the doctors office.. There ae alot of H1N1 ases her in fairfield county and very locally to the point that one middle school is talking about shutting down if anymore cases break out. Maxs cousins (3- one family) all have been diagnosed with swine flu.. Barbershop is slow because no one is going out but tomorrow its just me and th eboss for the day so Im praying for a full day of healthy clients.. Taking the Lysol with me just in case..
Stubborn .. hmm I think I may have been properly accused of that a few million times. The great thing is being stubborn to some people to me I see as determined. My sister used to say I was Obsessive and Complusive because when I stubbled upon something I wanted to do or accomplish I dove in head first and wouldnt give up until I was satisfied with what was done.. I have a barbershop layout for my first shop if Im ever able to achieve it right down to the wall color, chairs and decor... I have a image of what I want for a backyard nursery/landscape buisness too.. It just takes time and I could see doing them both maybe the nursery will pay for the shop.. I dont know how but in time I have plans and depnding upon the universe is how I will follow my path.. It wont always be like the last few years and I figure why dwell on the past.. Move on and make your future happen.. dont wait for it or you may wait too long..
Keep your dreams alive ladies.. If you can dream it ,You can achieve it.. Nomatter what life throws in your path..
OH! OH! speaking of dreams. This man here is my dream guy, lol.. OMG!! what a hunk!! We just started chatting today. He said he liked my pix especially the one of me in my leathers. But I know in my heart it would never work out, lol. We are both Geminis. I just have to show you his pix. His name is Richard, he's 47, divoiced, no kids, 6'0" a few extra pounds, has a motorcycle ( I don't think it's a Harley though) has green eyes and brown hair just like me, lol. Yea call me crazy, MAN crazy, lol. We'll see how long the chatting goes before he asks to meet. He lives about an hour drive from me.
CIndy, I am a gemmini, and Todd is a scorpio, and everyone told i=us it would never work. Here we are happier than ever almost 13 years now. You can make it work if you want too.
Morning everyone! Coffee is on!
Morning Glory! hey, sisters, what's for breakfast? by the time I get through my pills, we'll be at soccer tournament, so I'll have to eat vicariously through y'all.
cool to chilly, raining. it'll be a mud game. always more injuries with those, so now I worry until it ends. it was supposed to be nice today. Girls say they play better in the rain, because they are the Cyclones.
got well chilled yesterday planting in mist until dark. stiffened up badly indoors. went to bed around 8. up with energy - wow, this feels like old times! - think it's the new pills?
Susan and Jaye, take care of yourselves. gotta go get dressed, but must add here that I've checked. I now know two folks with teens that had H1N1, they were sick one week then back in school. But we've had 2 local deaths of it, and they are now telling folks locally not to go to doc or ER unless breathing is bad, as the test for it isn't reliable and it's only spreading by them coming into one place together.
Randall says go NOW, so I gotta hop.
Morning everyone. Thanks for the coffee LK.
Susan, hope your cold's leaving you.
Now why is it that each time I water the plants it rains?
FIL is still too weak to move around on his own. He can get himself up, but froze up immediately and will fall over...
So...no out of town Saturday shopping today, just locally. Got a lot to do anyway, like converting a spare room into a sewing room.
Be happy today.... if you can't... PRETEND!!!
Morning Ladies,
Going to be a beautiful fall day 77. I have 120 daffs from Brecks, 76 daffs, tulips & hyacinth from co-op to get in the ground today. Plus I need to start cement river rock in my drianage ditch. Gonna be busy, busy today.
Got an email from Richard...he asked if I'd like to go for a ride with him YIPPIEE!!!!!!! So loking forward to this ^_^
Cindy }!{
Have fun Cindy. Looks like Richard has a Honda..
We'll put on the pounds vicariously through you Bonnie!!!! Not having any breakfast here. Just got through taking care of Ali's morning ritual. Feed the bottomless pits.. and now going to see whether I could finish that apron before Kel returns.
The girls won their first game of the tournament 2-1, hard fought game. Found out from doc to expect Ruth's flu cough to last another 3 to 4 weeks after flu is gone. She had trouble getting her breath, so she was slower on her feet. But If the ball came near, she'd get a foot on it and send it away from her goal. Great playing by both teams.
It's not as cold as expected, it's warm now, still misting. the girls loved the mist, cooling them off. No mud spots on their assigned field either.
Ah, Jaye, thanks. I am up a pound myself this morning. Darn it all.
Cindy, you keep having fun. Reminds me what fun being single was.^_^
Thanks Bon, but believe me I'd rather be settled down with just one guy for the rest of my life. I miss my hubby and my house that we had very much.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
It was sure nice taking yesterday off work with Dave!
Went out last night, he wanted to dress up, I didn't because thought it would spoil it for Halloween, he said there were adult parties everywhere, so we dressed up and guess what, we were the only people in the whole city dressed up LOL!!
It's finally bright, sunny, and I've got to get out and play!
I need help from anyone who knows how to care for a Lime Zinger, this is my second one and it's wilted to the bone in the past hour, was fine when I got up and I haven't touched it or changed the environment in any shape, so I just put it outside. I can't find care for them anywhere, does anyone know what to do????
What's a Lime Zinger?
My cold seems to have left my chest, but I'm so tired...... Got up this am after a good night's sleep, then bustled around baking some Pillsbury biscuits and loading the d/w - that did me in.... I'm tired again.
Been working on the tote bag swap, and needed to take a rest, so I'm HERE lol
Temp is 55F / 13c..... nice cool spring day here (if it were spring). I won't be going out tho.....
Jaye - I checked - your pkg left Greenboro @ 3am today.......maybe delivery today?
Well, gonna surf a bit, then head off for a nap again.
~Susan~
I can't help on the lime zinger, even though I do have one...it would be like the blind leading the blind....
Tonight is our annual Bonfire and we have two relatives staying with us for the weekend. My BIL from Maine and my nephew from Virginia.
Well, I've been making food for the party tonight and now I've made 4 batches of cashew brittle. Need to rest my wrists for a bit, then out to see if I can do something with the pond....sigh....
The wind blew leaves under the net and now the skimmer is plugged up so the waterfall isn't flowing. Of course, I wanted it to be perfect for tonight,,,,figures...
Need your prayers...Lisa (my DD) lost her job. 15 1/2 years with the Public Defenders office in Montgomery County and they did away with her job. They forced two attorneys to either retire or take the layoff besides 3 other paralegals getting cut. She is so upset.
I'll check in when I can...
Love you all!
OH - after 15 1/2 years? You'd think they'd at least do a "buy-out".....
and some companies help find another job, with counselling, etc........ Did they offer anything like that?
It's terrible to be without a job........... I can relate.
~Susan~
Susan, she said public defenders - that's usually government job, and they don't offer anything at all, just a retirement plan if you qualify.
BIL Kurt has been playing phone tag with Randall since last night. During the second game (which the girls lost 4-1), they made contact. Kurt got laid off yesterday, little to no warning. He and SIL Lisa will probably have to declare bankruptcy and lose their home. they've had financial problems for a while now, ever since we laid him off from our company. He got a decent job designing websites with an insurance group. He's really good at it.
Y'all would just adore Kurt and Lisa. They are recorded Christian rock musicians, Kurt was head of our sound department and a decent music composer as well as a professionally recorded rock guitarist. Kurt's song to his parents on their 50th wedding anniversary would make you tear up. and his song for the impending birth of his first child would make you weep buckets. they have had a little band playing at the local churches for many years. Lisa has the voice of an angel, I can't believe she's not a star somewhere. She can do sultry blues, too, and rock and gospel. She got a job as a hostess at an Applebee's, to help get a little ahead of their bills, the same day he got laid off.
I wonder if they'll stay here now (we moved them here from the L.A. area in 1994) or go back to CA? OH, I will be crushed if they go. we never get enough time with them, their church schedule is too hectic. my nieces and nephew so far away - BOO HOOs.
Bon - as I'm in Canada, we have different rulings and laws, so I didn't realize what US companies would be like. I was thinking they may be the same, however - I don't know what Public Defenders in Canada would get either. I was just asking.....
~Susan~
I'm so sorry Susan - didn't mean to sound critical. Just thinking out loud.
our government jobs don't have many perks. Government jobs = no corporation involved. USA tax payers don't like paying for perks - although senators and congressmen vote themselves such perks, peons like this public defenders paralegal probably get zilch. Most public jobs have low pay, a decent retirement fund and medical benefits, and once you've been there a year, it's nearly impossible to get fired. People with public jobs tend to stay for 30 years or more. But RIFs happen. State of NC is RIFing folks all over - we expect a nearly $1bil shortfall in taxes this year. She's probably seeing her world torn apart if she expected to stay there all her career.
Public defenders office would be county job? RIF (reduction in force is what they call it here) job placement = same as for any bartender laid off, local job service office. Not usually effective for white collar jobs. White collar workers do better with a headhunter (in my experience). But, public lawyers are not well paid, and their paralegals get less than the going rate, too, I've heard. IF she can find a job, she may end up making more in the long run, but she'll give up job security. IF she can find one.
That's ok Bon - being in different countries, and sometimes being in different occupations, makes all the difference in the world, eh? LOL
I find it depends on the Head Hunters as to whether they are any good. Even in the same city, as with any public employee, you get real fantistic ones, and others not-so-fantastic.
What she needs is a Professional's head hunter because as a legal assistant (my daughter is one, in Winnipeg, Manitoba), especially with 15 1/2 years in the same place, she's got a head start over a lot of other positions.
Joyce - all my best to Lisa, and I know it's going to be a difficult time for her.
She's going into the job market and it's been a long time since she has. It's a different world out there than she's used to.
My thoughts and prayers are with her.
btw - has anyone heard from Shirley about Tubby???? It seems like days since anything's been said.............
~Susan~
I googled lime zinger and there are quite a few web sites to go on. Part of the Elephant Ear family. I didn't go on any of the sites, but may look into what they are later on.
thanks Pegi - I'll look later, too
A good night to you all and wishing you all a wonderful All Saints Day tomorrow.
am I first???? GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!
coffee is on. Randall wants eggs over easy with sausage and biscuits, and he'll make the sausage.^_^ Think I'll get the oven turned on and warm the kitchen up for everyone. But also to dry out the sodden paper.
Day has dawned early! I went to bed early and slept again blissfully! maybe these new meds will work out great! we got exactly one set of two trick or treaters last night. did I tell y'all Randall went out and bought 6 bags of candy? Butterfingers, KitKats, Crunch...
morning all
Just popping in for a quick cup of coffee..
Gotta go to the grocery today and Max has tree thinning job for the neighbor.. Will be a busy day..
Huggs
Donna
morning Donna!
it rained heavy all night. the soccer fields are a mess, tournament is cancelled. they can't reschedule the last day until December because of other tournaments already scheduled.
Now I have the whole day to plant, but the wind is high and cold. Sun was bright an hour ago, now the sky is slate grey. can't see where to step, there's a multi colored carpet of leaves over everything, lawn, hoses, flowerbeds, pots, baskets, tools, material piles, stone piles, street, curb, gutter, cars....all too wet to blow away. Here comes another gust - oh dear. I don't want to go out in that! nope, it's raining now, heavy.
