Well we are under a tornado watch until 6 PM and the rain is coming down hard. You would think it was 9 at night by the darkness--oh well, good day to stay chained to the sewing machine.
We are having chicken enchilades ( how ever you spell it )for dinner with corn salad--Kim started preparing it last night while I baby sat.
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞170
Judy has a Bob, too? kewl - Bob is quite a common name lol
~Susan~
Maid M., we had Mexican fare last night. There was this delicious dip made with chipotle. It was my undoing... stomach turned on me :D
Will Kim share her enchiladas recipe? And if she's in posession of a good chipotle dip...pretty please...
I've just added Leonard Cohen to my bucket list. He's in his 70's and puts out great concerts.
Forgive me, forgive me... how could I be so insensitive.
Cindy, if you're hurting still, please, please, open up to someone.
Don't let it control you. You're such a sweet, warm and kind lady who doesn't deserve any mental abuse.
oh boy! chickens on sale this week at the Lowe's. cant' wait to try these recipes.
I should share a recipe too, but this may be too simple and well known. It was my simple "single mom special". It started in college. we call it Mex and Cheese. But y'all probably already do this....
In college, we had access to one burner. we'd fix up a box of mac&cheese, the cheap storebrand or the Kraft. then we'd add in a can of Hormel chili (no beans). mix it in until the chili is warmed, or just heat the chili separately in a saucepan and layer it on top, your choice. works with homemade chili too, if our moms gave us some.
As a single mom on a non-existant budget, I made tacos using the instant mixes as a treat. Discovered that making a double batch of taco meat, and using the leftover meat in place of the chili was mighty tasty, and cheaper! there was never that much time to cook - it took the same time to cook one lb of hamburger as two. I'd make tacos one night, a double batch of mac&cheese (served with hot dogs) the next night, and we'd mix the two together the third night, saving me one night of cooking!
Randall just adores this, he likes the meat layered on top. When he cooks, he'll make up two batches of each, then spoon the leftoevers into containers in lunchtime proportions, and send me off to work with one and take one to work himself! they'll keep up to a week in the frig, longer if frozen. I love it with sliced tomatoes or a salad on the side. (he just likes a double portion, thank you)
OK, I've got some recipes to try out. Thanks! My mom used to make chili then add elbow mac to it to make the chili go further. Well, I just figured that was the only way to do it. Chili looks so plain to me with pasta in it. I still use just half a pound of hamburger when I make tacos, hubby doesn't like the shell filled up full. I used the other half when I make spaghetti. Just the two of us now. That reminds me of the first time I tasted a taco. When we were dating DH took me to a great Mexican place and we each ordered a taco, they filled they up so full you have to eat half of it with a spoon first. The girl asked if we wanted hot or mild. Well of course I wanted my taco hot, she didn't mention she was talking about the sauce and DH wouldn't tell me that. This is the days when the girl came up to your card and took your order. It was pretty hot, but how I enjoyed it. That was 50 years ago and I can see see that wonderful taco when I day dream.
I need to know what is happening with Cindy, and haven't heard from 1Anjl in such a long time. I do need to stop worrying.
Anjl was on MSN this morning...
I'm here. Just a lot going on right now. I read, but don't have a lot to say. :(.
Thanks for thinking of me.
Juanita
Hang in there Marion. Don't let those darn twisters get ya. maybe your sisters can pray up the breath of God to blow them out to sea.
Jaye, it was chilly, drizzly and grey all day. still having trouble getting to sleep, so was still asleep at noon. ate my tuna steak leftovers (yum) but started getting a migraine. couldn't stand it, it looked like the drizzle had gone. got 18 irises potted up before it started pouring on me, my headache went away after about 15 mins. outside.
And I figured out what to do with these cannas I rescued. don't have space or soil enough to plant them in now or pot them. But have enough pots. and for $22 can buy another load of compost and pot them up in just compost, then use any leftover compost for the irises.
anyone know cannas well enough to know if they can handle that? we have some 3 year old unused mulch and a bit of sand left that I use to lighten clay soil with. I could mix a bit of those in with the compost. I'm all out of potting soil, topsoil, and mixed soil. these are 3 gal pots and they take a lot of soil mix.

No bad weather but did we ever get the rain. Still drizzling some but I think the worst is over.
Hi,
I'm fine. Just got the blues :(. It's hard for to type this with out crying. First Saturday we had graveside services for Rusty. His family put his ashs in the family plot. It was a small family only service with a bagpipe player and then we released white balloons in memory of Rusty. Then found out my daughter has some serious diease affecting her verbrea and she is in horriable pain. Can't remember what it's called but her verbrae are fusing themselves together. This is not good as she may not be able to move in the near future. She has to have an MRI done to see how bad it is and if surgery will help her. Then her MIL was taken to the hospital because her body temp was really low and she was in a lot of pain. They did a cat scan and found the cancer has now spread to her liver. And I always get the blues this time of year because Saturday will be 12 years ago my dad passed away.
So please don't worry about me I'm fine just need to get pass this weekend.
Cindy - I'm sending soft and warm hugs your way....
(((Cindy)))
You are in my prayers, Cindy, as is your child.
Marion, weatherman says we're getting your moisture, traveling up the eastern seaboard, mixing overhead with cold front coming in from Canadian Rockies.
Big big big big hugs Cindy
Trisha what was it about?
So sorry to hear that you are blue Cindy.. Sending big (gentle) bear huggs..
Bon cannas can andle just about anything you through at them.. I had some in a box for a long time and they sprouted, grew and bloomed without any dirt.. That was in Fl so Im not sure about the cold..
Chili Tacos sound great and I bet my kids would love them although theres almost never any chili left over here after Max gets through..
Had a long day and headed to bed early tonight.. 4 1/2 hours at work and not one person walked through the door so I called it a day and walked home (4 barbers too).. Was locked out, Max wsnt home, couldnt remember the cell number so I walked to the hobby shop, stopped by BIL house and brought home some seeds and chocolate mint cuttings, came home and satrted working in the yard. Max apparently was working on the van we re suppose dto get when his aunnt finds the title across town and my knee wouldnt allow me to walk anywhere else to see if he was even there,, I lifted my dahlias, moved a few more iris (the ones out front) Stuck cuttings from mint,, Ect ect Im soo tired but feel acomplished .. Max stopped by his brothers and found out I was home about 2 and found me digging n the flower beds out back moving the last of the irises..
Night all
Donna
LOL Donna at least you could do that, all of my tools would be locked in the garage. That sucks that not one customer came in. How boring. How does that work, if there are 4 of you working and one customer comes in, how do you decide who gets one customer first?
Good night everyone! Time for bed!
Cindy, sorry your feeling blue, but with all that is going on, please know we will be thinking of you, and praying for all those in need!
Marion, hope your doing ok in those storms!
The recipe I posted, can be done with pork chops also, just get some nice porkchops, and place some of the stuffing in bewtween the chops like a sandwhich, then cover with the mushroom soup, cover with foil, and bake.
WELL Ya'll I got my mom on the phone and she must be missing some hormone pills, she's crying her eyes out over The Biggest Loser and their stories. My Goodness!
Morning Ladies
This morning we have apple cinamon oatmeal and OJ served up.. Yall pull up a chair and help yourselves..
Crissy Most of my tools where locked up in the house but my neighbr leaves out her hand spade and shear so I borrowed hers.. LOL On the hair cuts it depends on if that person is comming in for one barber in paticular or if they dont care who does it then we go with who was there first that hadnt had a customer.. That would have been me but the next one goes to the next and so on.. Bad thing is I dont get an hourly rate just how many haircuts we do minus 25% for chair rental.. example.. I make 100 I give the shop owner 25 and 75 is what I bring home... (miss having days like those)
LK YUmmmm sound sgood.. You all are teaching me tricks I never dreamed of..
Well gotta get ready for work.. Prepared today , taking paper, pencils for sketching, book to read, metal sheets for making plant tags and ect ect.. LOL
Huggs
Donna
Morning - yup, I'm up early. sorry, Donna, I can't eat yet, but think with this warm front I'll pass on oatmeal.
(sigh) Randall left before 7 for DC area, work called him up there. we have our hands crossed it's not to tell him he's laid off. things up there have been mighty stressed of late. I miss him already. With him gone, had to get up early to sit with Ruth at the bus stop. it's only two houses away, but with her just over the flu, I'm not having her sit out in the drizzle even if she is a senior. she has midterms in a couple days. Randall usually does this.
it's soppy outside, the humidity is pea soup, the air warm, not much daylight yet. I"m about to fall back to sleep. But I have more labels to make, and some cleaning I want done, so here I go.
Morning everyone! I am at the libray using a computer. I woke up this morning, and my harddrive is fried. I spent over an hour on the phone with the dell people, and they told me the basic warranty does not cover these issues, I had to pay them 120.00 for a 1 year plan, that would cover everything. Well, they could not fix the problem over the phone, so a technician will be out hopefully before the week is over to replace the harddrive. Now I need to find someone that can take the old one and recover all my pictures for me???
I will be back online as soon as I can
Please take care.
LK

Good Morning, everyone!
How interesting that you should be serving Apple Cinnamon oatmeal this am, cuz that's Exactly what I had here LOL
Mind you, I didn't have OJ - I'm drinking coffee lol (gotta have my caffein!!)
I got a terrific night's sleep last night - 7.5 hours!! (about what I got in 2 nights previous lol), so I'm ready to take on the world! ^_^
I hope everyone's days gets better and better all through the day ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
~Susan~
Good Morning everyone!!
Oh ok, Donna, that's how I was thinking but wasn't too sure. Repeat customers are always good.
I've lost 5 pounds since Monday just by cutting out the snacks and eating a little smaller meals. I hope that it keeps coming off!
I'm trying to decide what I'm going to have for lunch, since we're on this topic.
So this is nice, I just love some of the people in this office. Apparently there was a voting thing that I didn't know about to who will be the most/least likely to divorce, me and Dave were voted the most likely, I'm learning that these people here are mean and opinionated. First I get killed in a car accident, now me and Dave are the most likely to divorce. I hate to tell them, but that came from a recent divorcee and there's another going on that's right smack in the middle of it and they're making me and Dave stronger, so whatever!
Morning ladies!
I'm NOT going anywhere !!! (if I can help it)
The big town of Wilmington, about 1 and a half hour's drive, just reported its' second death from the H1N1 virus, and there has been 17 reported victims (#s are supposed to be more).
You know that reggae song.. "Let's get together, and it's gonna be alright"? In this case, let's stay FAR away from each other!!!
Nope, no oatmeal for me neither. Thanks Donna, but Kel brought back some croissant sandwiches from Sonic's with the real deal.. flaky croissants. Not the bread kind.
Let's hope you get a stream of customers today.
Juanita, may today be a better day for you ;) Hugs gf!
Cindy, so sorry to read of your daughter's predicament. I'll add her to the prayer list, and will forward her name to my church too.
These days, with modern medicine and latest surgery techniques, your daughter may still have the capacity to remain mobile. Chin up Cindy... we are here for you.
As for her MIL, we haven't stopped praying for her.
Bonnie, how bad is the swine flu in Raleigh?
Praying for the best for Randall here. It's so touching to read how Randall treats your kids as though they are his.
Poor you LK. Looks like you can't touch any electronic stuffs!! We'll still be here, may not be in this room per se.. but we'll still be here when your pc's fixed.
Pegi, I laugh at what you posted... agreeing to a 'hot' taco.
There was a DGer who followed a 'hot' recipe which includes 2 jalapeno peppers, a number of scotch bonnets and to add ALL the seeds!!!!!! She didn't put on gloves when handling the peppers!! I am pretty sure, whoever wrote that recipe must have a stomach of iron.
Maid M... how's the weather down there? Rain subside? Or do you need a pirogue :D
Crissy, Crissy, Crissy.... jealous people will always try to bring you down. You know their remarks will only make you stronger. Just shows you're the 'normal' one there. I cannot believe how easily they focus on negative stuffs... I sure don't want to see them in any support group :(
They're truly poison to a weak mind. Remain strong, positive and above all, forgiving...
Like Jesus said to His father.. "Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they're doing."
I was lucky.. never had worked in that kind of environment. Must be the culture.. but I've known very wonderful Arkansans
Hi Cookie!! Any signs of snow??
Rain stopped but everything is soggy, humid and just yucky outside. Won't even mention the dead limbs that are down. Not a problem any more, have a wonderful man who does my yard!!!!!
Hope all are well today. I need to go into the big city of Tallahassee today--rather not but the cupboards are a wee bit empty. Kim has the bad habit of wanting milk on her cereal, stuff for lunches and coffee. What am I ever gonna do with that girl.
Jaye, she said there isn't a recipe per se but she will sent you what she does with measurements as best as she can. BTW, they were absolutely wonderful!!!!
Well better go get showered and dressed to do my errands. I will check back later.
LOL snow, I love the snow. My mom was talking with my youngest cousin she is in Collbran, CO and it has been snowing there since yesterday and will continue until tomorrow. I'm checking on flights planning a trip there after the New Year.
Up to 40* .....sun was out for a few minutes earlier...clouding up now...we have another storm coming in later tonight.
Not much going on here...think after I take the dog out, finish the typing I need to do for Bill, and pick up a bit it is going to be a painting and bread baking afternoon.
Hope you all have a great afternoon!
Oh Jaye shoot, there was a 10 year old who passed away from it in the city we live closest too, can't be afraid of it, got to live your life girl.
Everyone that is saying this stuff is very religious, or so they say, I'm starting to wonder. They're also befriending Ms. Cheerful, and they all belong to a support group. The gal who had the dream is in the middle of a divorce, the one that said what she said today just got her divorce final about 2 - 3 months ago. All of their divorces and drama is making me and Dave stronger and they don't know it because I don't tell all.
There's no way I would want to eat that hot stuff, I like heat but when it's so hot you can't taste the flavor forget it!
Boy those croissants look good!
mmmmmmmmm croissants!! I have some of those Pillsbury ones in my fridge. Got 'em for last weekend, but then we slept in on Sunday, and just baaaaarely got there in time for practice LOL
I think we both need a few good night's sleep so we can be more productive during the day lol
~Susan~
So Cookie, for the reunion, apple dumplings will be on the menu?? Looking forward to that yummy treat! Extra insulin for sure :D
You're thinking happy thoughts there Cindy. Kel has a cousin living in Aspen and she's always asking us to visit her. Would love to see the fall color there before the snow....
Hello there Trisha! Your house will be the best scented house in the neighbourhood. Nothing beats the scent of fresh baked bread.
Would you believe it's in the 70's here. I got gingers blooming!! One more week to set out the mulch.
Matthew 22:36 - 40 .... tell them that Crissy! Don't explain, just walk around saying that.
Hiya Susan. I've been getting the proper amount of sleep these nights. There were cds from home, old classical Malay music similar to what my mum would sing to us. Kel put them on, and I slept like a baby...
sun came out before 9am, and I've been out planting twice since then! on my way back out.
Drat. Randall's out of town and I need to use his system and printer for more labels. can't get past Vista to figure out how to get it to print on this old printer of his. I need that laserjet for these vinyl labels. GRRRRRRRR.
It is cold and starting to rain...looks like the next round is here.
Talked to Mary, we are still waiting for the baby.....I was a good two weeks overdue with my first one....so I guess we will keep waiting.
The good news is I was on Craig's List today and found a lady a few miles from me giving away a bunch of Newborn Diapers....her baby was allergic to them. So I am picking them up first thing in the morning. There are a couple of listings for Bassinets that are between $35 and $65 if they haven't found one by the time we get paid on Friday, and these are still aailable, Bill and I are going to try and get one of them for her. That was the one thing this girl wanted more than anything for the baby.
Bread just came out of the oven and smells soooo good....have black beans & corn, and coleslaw left from last night so I may throw a steak in the grill pan and call that dinner for tonight.
Evening ladies
thought I best pop in and update on the prayer request above...as of June the step son has not been staying here he is now over in the kilgore area with the girlfriend. He has been here several weekends to watch football wtih his dad but that is it
As of the 15th of this month he had to have insurance on the car and it is now in his name so whatever he does will not come back on us any more...THANKS for all the prayers.
I'd fill ya in on the drama at work but it is such a long thing and so childish on their part it's not worth the time to type it in for ya but I can say this the boss man got HOT today when he saw the email the one gal sent out in regards to a trip monday and he wrote her up for the whole thing..administration is watching them and they are gonna cut off the hand that feeds them.
It has come to the point that anyone that comes into my office and has a complaint I tell them to put it in writing ...make a copy keep one for themselves and give the other tot he transportation director ....he is getting a nice lil stack of letters in regards t the ones upstairs and the way they are doing things or not doing things.
I just do my job and keep my mouth closed and anything they try to drag me into I do not react to them God will deal with them in his time....so prayers at work are good and if I may ask for prayers for my son and his girlfriend ..she is expecting and due the end of Nov and from what he said the doc says there isn't alot of fluid so it makes her some what of a high risk PG.

Phyllis, glad to see you checking in.....Prayers going out for all of the above. (((Hugs)))
I can smell that bread across the screen, Trisha!!
Thanks for the update on Mary. The baby truly deserves a good start in life, and bless Mary for not terminating her pregnancy. Life is so precious.
She is so lucky to experience kindness from total strangers.
Let me know how I can help.
Hiya Phyllis. Certainly I'll include your son's gf in our daily prayers.
You do what's required in your job description, and you are right... do not involve yourself in 'office politics'. You know the old saying right...Cover Your A** sistah. Documentation will do that.
Heading for bed.. so have a good night's sleep ladies.
Note to self....apple dumplings in June.... gotit.
The bread looks awesome Trish...I HAVE GOT to stop making homemade bread. Bill is on Adkins, so guess who is eating it ALL!!!
Phyllis....thanks for the update...Hugs to you and Millie....tell BJ I said Hi.
Love youse guys.... ;o)
send some here Joyce. I ADORE homemade breads.
Morning all. early schoolbus monitoring duty again. I'm SO SLEEPY. without Randall here (he tends to hand me a glass of water and my meds every evening) I forgot my meds! ARGH. and the pharmacy is 3 months backordered on my thryoid pills. me bod be unhappy.
sunshine be a'callin' me....
Good Morning.
I have some work that I have to do for Steve, so to savetime just going to copy and paste my post here as well.
I'll be back later...To chat with you all properly...Yumm that bread looks delicious!
Good Morning!
Bob Dylan Concert was incredible!! LOL, I could barely understand what he was sing tho. Well that our Bob D. But oh My Gosh the music was just incredible...You know I never pay that much attention to the variety of instuments, I did at the concert and only could just say wow...
Crissy, sure hope you get to see a concert soon. They are just so much fun.
We went to Rockford for the event which was an hour travel. Our Cousin Joyce, (who comes to Wi. house all the time), opened her home to us for the night. So we get there around 3 o'clockish. Steve did a few things for her as, well being widowed for 11 years now, she tends to let alot of silly things go. like changing light bulbs, etc...So Steve did some of those things...Anyway Our other Cousin and his buddy met up with us there. They are from Sweet Home, Oregon. While Dan visited with joyce, he is her brother...Steve had gone to get some Beer. When he got back he askes me if I've heard the news. No, whats going on? I ask. He says Skittles flew away!! The kids are searching for her...Proceeds to say how she will never find her way back, It's getting cold and I am about to loose it! So, I Txt Liz and tell her my bad news. Thank You again Liz, big hugs to you are always there for me. So anyway, Finally I go into the bathroom where I can just breakdown, which i did all the while praying. Please, Feathers, Carol lead her home. I prayed to God, please, please she is just a baby, let her find one of the kids...The kids were txting to Steve, They didn't dare call me. So after Txting Liz and her prayers going up too, I kept repeating my prayer...Not even 5 minutes of coming out of the bathroom, My phone rings, It's Jacob. They found her!!! Get this, She flew right to Sabrina's Shoulder! She was out in the cold for 2 hours...
Right away i want to know how this happened. Sabrina tells the tale. As usual as soon as she came home from school, she lets the her out of her cage, plays with her and then birdie flys off to sunroom. Jakes on the computer and birdie playes around. Then Alissa gets up to get ready for work, decides to have a smoke. She doesn't realize birdie is out, so opens the door to close the screen door, Skittles land on her should, flys right out the door to p[lay in screenhouse, which isn't there anymore...realizes the openess and flys off somewhere...Immediately they start calling her to comehere, trying to see where she went. Txting Steve, I said tell them to grab the windchimes and some grapes, so they do this...Alissa stayed in the yard calling for her to come get grapes, while Julia, Breenie and Jake traveled the yards shaking the windchimes...So all of the sudden they site her in the tree 2 houses over. Sabrina hops 2 fences climbs up the tree calling for her. Skittles just looks at her and as soon as Breenie got close enough she flew to a higher limb...so Jake comes to rescue, scoots up the tree, gets close enough but birdie saw Sabrina and flew right to her should like Hi. Was about to take off again, when Sabrina screeches don't you dare, grabs her up and shoves her in her pocket. Birdie didn't even struggle, she was just keeping warm. OH MY God, Thank you you, Thank you, I was crying, they found her, they found her! With the leaves changing She blended right into the colors, greens and yellows! Plus, i think she was so cold she didn't know what to do.
But i will tell you, with the Power of Prayer, and kids searching she is home safely, and I am truley Thankful. We will be clipping her wings tonight or tomorrow. We don't want to traumatize any more at the moment. She had the sniffles, so we got some antibiotic. I watched her real close and she seems to be just fine playing in her cage. I haven't seen her sneeze so just to be sure...I think I was more traumatized the she. LOL, and the kids were scared to death over the experience...But I gave them a what for anyway, over the phone and when I got home...First thing i said, was ok who do i beat up?? Don't bother answering your all getting beat up!! Rest assured they will all be more watchful of her...
Well thats my big news and the Worst and the Best.
What did i learn? Power of Prayer, once again on my side...Thank you God, Feathers and Carol, and Liz too, I love you all.
