GYPSIES REMEMBER BASIL part 3

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

any of you guys want some cuttings from passiflora x belotii?

Keaau, HI

What does the fruit taste like, Trina?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

It didn't fruit for me. had beautiful flowers that smelled sweet. I believe it did not fruit because I grow them in the house which means no bees to pollinate, and I don't know how to do it manually

Keaau, HI

Excuse me Trina. P. x belotii, does not get fruit as it is a hybrid.

It's my day off; I was having fun!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

well someone on the passiflora forum said I had to hand pollinate and then he got wordy so I got confused and said eh it grows in here that's good enough for me....LOL

Keaau, HI

Passiflora x belotii is a hybrid formed by crossing P. alata & P. caerulea.

It is sterile and will not produce fruit. Because of this, it is a popular ornamental in warms areas and will not become a weed.

It is also the best Passionflower as a houseplant, as it will produce flowers as a small plant.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone,
Can only stay a minute, it is suppose to rain later and my dwarf iris's were on the porch when I got home just now. Its still really nice out but I am going to have to double time it to get everything done.

Venice so sorry about your friend.

Smiley and moon my dad done that gin and raisin thing for years even got my brother started on it. They swore by it. I tried it but don't like raisins or gin so didn't do it long enough to know if it was working or not. yucky

Dave, day off come have fun at my house. Maybe someday they will build a bridge.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Have fun JJs. Catch ya later

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Off to dig before it becomes mud...again.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Keaau, HI

You got what, Trina?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

that I understood what you said about it's a cross so it won't produce fruit. see sometimes I do pay attention, not always, but sometimes...LOL

It's just that I can no longer move the monster and have to cut it back, and I figured it would be a shame to throw it away unles you guys want some

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts!

Trina, we were talking about when it is good to mulch in the fall. I copied the following sentence from this website. So I will wait until later to mulch!

"Mulches used to help moderate winter temperatures can be applied late in the fall after the ground has frozen but before the coldest temperatures arrive."

Boy, it sure was Dave.
Next I plan on going out there in the sping with him to see all the wild flowers in bloom, I hope.

We went out there to look around with his daughter, who was also there for the weekend.
She is the mighty hunter. She did a little target practice. Use 3 bullets and was dead center each time.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Cool Dave, send some this way!

Just kidding ^_^

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Hi Smiley, its raining here :-(

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Hey I went to Wal-Mart and didn't buy not 1 plant not even a orchid

(Zone 5b)

I swept one herd of ladybugs..er..."frustration" of ladybugs out the door, and another one came in...maybe they'd be less frustrated if they stayed outside? Just a suggestion....

Smiley why are you asking Trina? Just mail them out LOL
Nice pics Kassy & Dave!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi Kassy, we're gonna get your rain, I can see it coming right at us! How old is the girl?

Ok Trina, you can have them. Put them where it doesn't matter, because they're evil in a small yard like mine!

Dave, how do those taste compared to regular banana's like we get at the store? DH is severely allergic to bananas! Just like his Grandpa.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

trina, where do you come up with all the flower pots?

Hi Lynn, I'll show you bugs..........in clump

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Just wanted to make sure. Lynnie. You can see, they're evil! Note the teeny one on the left with the huge taproot.

I'm glad I don't shop at Wal-Mart, I know they probably have good prices on things. I went to NPR.org once and put Wal-Mart in the search bar, bad move! That was years ago, I think they're better to their employees now.

My dinner is ready, everyone have a good night!

Night Julie!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I happen to like them though!

Keaau, HI

Most store bought bananas do not taste like natural bananas, as they are picked before they're ready, transported to their mainland destination, then ripened with ethylene gas.

Hawaiian Bananas have a richer creamier taste, than what is in mainland stores.

The above bananas are Cuban Reds. The flesh is salmon colored, and they are sweeter than most other bananas.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

sounds heavenly Dave!
I want mangos!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Dave here is the plant that I received labeled Liloki

Keaau, HI

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

those bananas sound delicious! I bought a pomegranate last week at the store, we had never had one. I cut it open and the fleshy part tasted like an unripe banana, kind of chalky. We decided we didn't know how to eat pomegranates!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

what is a Liloki?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I was looking for mangos or mango juice....no such luck!
