A GYSPSY REVIVAL!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Check out the above link, Trina. I think you can move back in the link for info on Nicolai

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

A neighbor has snapdragons spilling under the fence. They have many seed pods which I collected. I am keeping an eye on one neighbor's large yellow begonia that has 3 green seed pods now and she doesn't plant seeds or want plants from other people.

I have serious brain today so be nice... and Dave it would be so much easier to ask you questions if you knew what I already had!

serious brain pain is what I meant to say!

Venice I have rocket snapdragons (I think they are... the very tall ones that fall over and root from the stems) that are white if you want the seeds when they're ready. They are still blooming right now. And I have red ones and yellow ones that are about 6-8" tall too.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Smiley, do you have a photo of them?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

So Moon can I put the daylily and regular lily seeds out now?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I heard seeds? LOL

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Not a good idea, Trina. Wait til late Feb or early march

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, to plant them inside or outside? Here our last frost is April 18th. Trina's is even later.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ok I think I will wait on all of them just to be sure

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Only a fool plants outside before Easter

Keaau, HI

You need a temperature controlled greenhouse Trina. Might be best to get the greenhouse in order, before you continue to swamp yourself with plants.

Carol, unless the plants need to be controlled because of their height or you are making hedges / topiary, it is good to restrain yourself from chopping on your plants. Plants make leaves because they need them.
If the leaf / branch has a disease, or is dead, then I would cut it.

Time for work, talk to everyone later.

A hui hou.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Start them indoors in Feb/Mar for planting outside after frost.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, so just because it is ugly and half dead, that is not a good reason to cut off a leaf??

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

no that is not a good reason to cut it off!

Thanks Dave...any particular way to store these then until I make sure the greenhouse done

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

jTrina, is your name Dave or what!!!! The mantra is -- DON'T CUT IT!!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You Should leave leaves alone unless they are completely yellow or brown or the stem is broken. Many plants reabsorb the nutrients from the leaves.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I can cut yellow leaves???

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Completely yellowed leaves will not turn green again. Leaves with a bit of yellow may green up if it is an iron lack that caused the yellowing.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Venice, I never knew that about the leaves, either, but it makes sense. I'm always pruning and grooming, I better stop doing that.

I always thought a plant put energy into trying to save the dying leaf, but Dave has a degree, so I'll listen to him. (It'll kill me, trying not to pick that dead leaf off...)

I don't have pictures of the snappy's, but I'll take some for you.

Keaau, HI

Okay, one last question.

Store the Birds inside in a sunny location, till the greenhouse is up.

Unless the leaves / branches are diseased, leave them alone. The plant is reabsorbing nutrients from old leaves until it is done with them. The plant will usually drop old leaves when they no longer need them.

Someone go to Trina's house and remove her credit card and gardening catalogs.

Someone go to Carol's and take her gardening shears!
