Calling it a night..drats ran out of wood to continue my projects..got 10 of #7 done..extra's always help and 5 of #5...went much quicker than I though (thank goodness for good tools) so early tomorrow morning I'll go in and pick up the rest of the wood and get everything cut out..then comes chipping the edges with the band saw..a few hours there...all that will remain is the greenery and scraves and decorations etc. to pick up and I can do the packaging...

Not but a few hours ago, these were planks...lol

Just have the brim to sketch out for the #5...lots of dust..can you imagine had I playned the wood myself...won't clean tonight..I'll wait until my mess is done, no sense duplicating work right?

Barb, cutting out those pieces for you that I promised..will include them in your package.....

Night everyone

Crissy, sounds like mom is doing well in spite of what she may think!

Betty, we have hand saws, hack saws, band saws and circular saws!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-thank you so much for spending your weekend on these for us. I know that you want to or else you won't offer. Your heart is so big I wish I was there to give you a hand and a big huge warm hug:)

I expect cat hair in mine, so tell the kitties to lay all over mine-especially my sleeping buddy;)

Crissy-the thing is that CA is the odd ball. Most states have no laws when it comes to breaks/meal periods/and hrs worked......

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Guess we are one of the odd ball states, We have the same laws here...you are required to give employees two fifteen minute breaks and half hour lunch break.

Roswell, NM(Zone 6a)

And I always thougth NM was behind time by at least 20 years but we have the same laws for breaks for goverment employs, and even most of the other workers too. And thank Betty for doing this for us, I'll have my money in the mail at the end of next week had family problems and for got to get a card this week while I was in town. Now I've got to find a way to tell my hubby I'm rescuing another horse but at least the grandkids can ride this one, most of the other ones are crippled or old like me and weren't being taken care of. Or I have colts from the kids mares that need to be broke, and then they are big dummies like the one today that was rolling to close to the barn and cut a leg on a piece of tin that was loose and we didn't know it. Never dull at my house. I'm the place for all unwanted farm animals, retarded duck that is scared to get in water over his ankles and a turkey with bad legs, or a broiler rooster the little girls named Sir Earl and didn't want their dad to kill, for example.
Crissy glad your mom is doing better keeping her in our prayers. Susan

Pacifica, CA

oh susan lol show me a pic of the duck, that is so funny i wonder why it wont get wet?
i had a mallard i raised from a little fur ball
he was the best pet i ever had so any duck holds a special place in my heart for me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning girls, can't chat right at this moment..off to town to pick up more wood and supplies...lol...

I sat at fabricland yesterday saying yes,no,yes,no to a boa in white feathers as it was $29.99 and tax that I could use on that vampire chicken costume..still thinking about it so might stop there and pick one up after I check $$ stores to see what they have..lordy these costumes cost a fortune..

Talk afte

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon or is it nightime..just starting to get dark...got my supplies as planned but have to tell you a story..thought why not put a kit together and get post office to give me an estimate of cost...so I pick Liz because she's in Calf. ok. $17.97 so I look at the piece and say why not cut off his head to the package isn't as long..cut off his head you say??? well it only means I put a dowel in head and body for it to be attached, after all there will be a scarve around his neck..lol..so this I did before heading into town..know it would be a little cheaper across the border so that's ok, then it comes to me, I'll have the wood playned just a bit thinner - mostly because some of it has dimentional layers .. TimBrr told me that likely no one would be in the shop to playne the wood but as the good Lord would have it, my young friend who is so helpful was there..got it done, now I'm wondering if I did it just a bit too thin..can test cut one now because I've white material and fur from one end of the craft room to the other...

SIL (also cousin) dropped in because she wants to do an easy craft (says she is not crafty at all) so set aside my sewing, did some iris folding christmas cards with her and she was thrilled with the outcome..watch out Michaels, bet she'll be there by 6pm purchasing materials..lol...

So it's back to creating, I work, Missy tests the softness of the fabric..lol

Roswell, NM(Zone 6a)

I would love to know how to fold Iris Chirstmas cards, I'm in an iris club and would love to have some for our christmas party. Susan

Victoria Harbour, ON

will have to take a photo Susan to show you.. don't mind..in fact I think on last year's thread I put the instructions step by step..will have to go looking for it, but not tonight..lol...

Some grandma's have cookies baking, ohhhh the smell of cinnamon..not this grandma..she's got part of chicken costume baking in the oven..lol

Hoping the grundy mixture hardens the chicken comb and those little red head things..not a real farmer am I...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh-thanks for the pic Betty-there is my little sleeping buddy!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL Stacey, just hope she doesn't walk through the 'grungy mixture' sitting there...waiting for body parts to come out of the oven as they'll most likely need another coat so don't want to clean up just yet, but I might be sorry..oh well vampire chicken is suppose to have blood on him does he not..

where these kids get these idea, better still why do grandma's make these things...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Stacey love the cat hair comment! Tiga has a bunch of mats on the back of her hind legs that I have to brush out... What's hilarious is she'll let me dig in her ears, brush her in places cats hate to be touched, or whatever else needs to be done but if I do it for too long she gets to where she's had enough and attacks me without letting me know. LOL always funny.

That's about one of three things I miss about living in CA are those laws. I know most states don't, it seems that it's the overpopulated states that do carry the laws.

LOL Betty, all a part of being a grandma! That's going to be a very cute costume! Is the chicken going to have fangs hanging out of his beak?

Victoria Harbour, ON

When Stacey was here Crissy, the cat lived with her...she'd be doing crafts and there Missy would be, hair and all..

Yes to the fangs...my ideas are finally panning out..
I've got the wings done..had hoped to be further than I am but having Linda come to do crafts for a few hours put me behind, but I'd rather have her visit...

I'm an early morning gal, so early to bed and up before dawn, just maybe before some of you are up and at it, I'll have a vampire chicken costume made and the day still ahead of me..

We won't talk about the mess will we...

Don't you just hate it when you've things to do and can't sleep, finally got back up, alert as can be so back to working in the craft room..

That's ok...a nap at the office is possible..this way I can bring the costumes with me to Barrie and Paul (boss) can bring them to the Toronto office where Jeff can pick them up and deliver them...

Alls well that might end well right?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Was a bit of a surprise to see you up!!

Came in from a bike ride today and fell asleep....woke up at five so I will probably be awake much later than usual tonight.............maybe I will get some painting done...

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

betty,the costumes are terrific,nice work

Victoria Harbour, ON

What are you painting Trisha? can you share???

Yep, got up at midnight, couldn't sleep, guess I was worried about getting the costumes to the city ontime..worked till about 4am - slept 2 hers, got back up and just some hand sewing to do, so here I sit sewing away, most likely an hour or so left on them then I'm done..

Brought my little projects that I will be including in the packages for you all to work on, by this afternoon that should be done as well ...

Not tired at all, adrenaline does wonders..lol...

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Betty, the costumes are a work of art!
Ernie's head reminds so much of the time when there was a halloween contest at the place I went to play bingo.

A very good friend of mine helped make me a costume...I dressed up as a giant dobber (the magic marker that you mark your bingo cards with) the top of my head looked much like Ernie's only mine was purple.

Must of looked realistic...I won 1st place and $100.00 for most creative costume! I split the winnings with my friend that made the costume.

Jane

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Sorry I meant to say Bert not Ernie.
