3rd Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop..won't you join us!

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Betty,
Will you please put me down for #7 and I'll get the money in the mail tomorrow morning.
I will go back and reread all that's been posted here but maybe someone can save me a little time and tell me... is it exactly $20.00 or do I need to add extra for the cost of shipping it to me.

Jane

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jane, it's $20.00 exactly, covers all the materials (other than perhaps a few bottles of paint) also the shipping...basically it's to cover my costs only..I enjoyed doing the workshop each year and seeing how creative everyone is...did learn so much last year as to the creativity within my DG friends..lol

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Well Miss Betty I think $20.00 is a very, very modest price for these beautiful kits.

Thanks for all the wonderful and fun crafts you so freely post here on Dave's.
I'm gonna do the snow globe with my little grandson 5 year old. There's no feeling that quite compares to watching a little one's face light up and the twinkle that dances around in their little eyes when they see what they have created with their very own 2 little hands....They create a not only a beautiful treason to put out at Christmas but so much more importantly they create a wonderful memory of making a craft with grandma that they will keep forever tucked away somewhere in their heart...they can call on time and time again....long after grandma is gone.

The little crafts you posted here are really little memory makers...something they will have tucked away in their little hearts forever... long after the treasure gets lost or broken!

Betty-I know the the paints are reg acrylics, but I'm with Barb-will there be a list of colors in the package??

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you Jane! I so hope each and every one of them will bring you both joy..I love working with children, as you say, their expression of awe-did I make that makes it so much more valuable...

Stacey, you know you are welcome here any time..infact, just put a deck and patio door in your bedroom..lol...

I will give you a list of what you need shortly...that way it will give you time to pick it up...not to worry though wouldn't be more than a few acrylic paints...

Victoria Harbour, ON

You know you are always welcome...no keys for this house, doors always opened to friends....

Ganz Inc., the manufacturer I was telling you about in Toronto (specialty is Ganz Bears) opened their doors this past weekend...it's for 4 weeks only...you name it they have it...great Christmas presents..some $20 items on for $5 etc.trying to find a day to go before Imiss out on all the bargoons....maybe next year you and Janice can come...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, do prefer cash payment, or is a check OK. I know some countries charge a fee, for cashing an american check?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Either is fine with me LindaKay...

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Every time you talk about the Ganz 4 week special I think "why didn't I plan to go over for this". It sounds just great and you always get such good bargins. I will have to put it on the calendar for next year. We will make it a date and I'll bring Stacey with me!

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Betty,
Don't see my name on the list.
Will you add me to the list and put me down for #7.

Jane

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you for doing this.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I'll send my money on 2nd or 3rd.

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

Betty mailed you a card yesterday with $20 inside for kit #7.
So be watching for it and if it's not too much trouble let me know when it arrives.

Jane

Victoria Harbour, ON

Tks Jane..will do...
My thoughts are to make a kit of each, take to the post office and see what they charge from here then decide if I'll wait to mail when I cross over at Buffalo on the 6th..

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Hey Betty dont mail mine from the US - might have to pay duty on it! And of course they there is a service charge for calculating how much duty you owe!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL, will do...going into Midland to pick up my wood supply, working on costumes and pkgs. this weekend..raining and calling for more so good time to stay inside and be creative...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhh rainy Friday, with the boss in the office today thought I'd better do something less crafty space wise..have the materials to prepare a little thanks you craft to put in each package..yes, you will be able to do it on your own and hopefully you'll want to make many more..so here I play.. what you will need to complete the project is a glue stick and invisible tape..both can be purchased at a $$$ store but most will have items on hand...

Called TimBrr, (local wood distributor) to have some rough saw wood playned to size..picking it up at 4pm...

wish me luck!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What, you don't have a planer in all those tools you have? LOL!
Sounds like we are going to keep you busy for a bit!
Have a great week-end everyone!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Do have one, but if you've ever seen it work you'd know there are inches/inches of dust just doing one board...might pay a few $$$ to have it done but no muss and no fuss..lol

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Rainy weekend and you and me both at work on christmas. Mine is at the sewing machine but same deal. Good luck and enjoy the weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's that time of year isn't it Janice..you enjoying that new machine of yours?

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

I love it! Trouble is, others do to and I have been asked to make things for others when I have this long list of things I need to make for Christmas myself. Well, it keeps me off the streets and out of trouble.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL...friends were joking that there should be a reality show called "Keeping up with Betty" for this time of year...figure if I sleep about 4 hrs. a night I just might get my to do list done...don't laugh, usually do same this time of year!

Should have a thread all to myself...just showing hour to hour what can be accomplished if you put your mind to it? sounds like a plan right..thank goodness I work for BIL and can play at crafts all day..I should work for free right? lol

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sounds like we are in the same Boat....fifties and pouring rain...rain or showers predicted for the next week! Time for Indoor Projects....

Tummy issues are better yesterday and today....if that goes away I may actually be able to get something accomplished for a change. Am starting back on getting rid of some weight as I know that is the cause of most of my issues.

Yesterday was shopping with mom and typing for Bill.....tonight is Sage night so I picked up a Haunted Gingerbread House kit...Halloween is one of her very favorite holidays!! And of course we will paint a bit...they have been doing art at school and she loves it.....she has been doing a very good job with her projects too....I am hoping she brings them over tonight so I can get some pictures. Guess we will have to come up with a few more Halloween projects to do between now and Halloween.

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

My, my you ladies do sound like Santa's Elves!
Busy... busy... busy!
LOL or maybe more like Mrs. Claus herself!

Betty what is BIL?

Would love a "Keeping up with Betty" thread. Maybe then I could learn how ladies like you...do it!

Zhinusmom...if you start a losing weight thread...let me know, I'm trying to do the same thing.

Jane

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

BIL, brother in law.

Hanson, KY(Zone 6a)

duh....I thought it was a name of a craft business!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha, did you say you had a scroll saw or jig saw?..I'd post a photo of a few projects you could easily cut and do with her...she'd love them...let me know...

I've been doing weight watchers on my own for the past 6 weeks or so and only lost 10 lbs....same amount of time Suzanne went to Berstein got the needles and special diet and she's lost 42..talk about depressing..but, in the long run everyone tells me that slow is the best route to go, am sure they are trying to cheer me up...

It's hard going Trisha at this time of year with Thanksgiving just around the corner for you and Christmas....but if it helps health wise then all the better for you to try...

Well I've done some of my running around..drats, forgot cat/dog food...will go next door to the variety store, pay a few $$$ more but means I won't have to go out this evening to town..

So my marathon starts...

So let's see by Sunday night just what I've accomplished...cross your fingers...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wow Betty, I've got my fingers crossed LOL!

Dave found out last night at 10:30pm that he is supposed to work 10 hour days without a day off until Thanksgiving starting last Saturday, which he didn't know anything about it so he was going to ask his boss about it today when he got to work. He had a meeting with his boss yesterday long before he found out this information and it wasn't mentioned, so we'll see. He's already turned in his vacation day for next Friday off, so we'll see.

I called in sick today because of that stupid headache I still had and felt like I was ran over by a truck, got rid of that by 2pm and started cleaning and working on my crafts that have been sitting around the house strewn everywhere and stabbed myself in the left ring finger, on the left side beside the knuckle that's closest to the fingernail with the scissors. It bled like a stuck hog, ran it under cold water for a minute then wrapped it in a paper towel for a few minutes, the bleeding had stopped so I put Neosporin + Pain on it and wrapped it in a band aid. Guess there's no artery there. It throbs and burns for a little while, then stops for a little while, and back and forth, but the painful moments are becoming less and less.

After I wrapped it I went back to what I was doing and finished this project:

And this I'm not done with, I'm not sure what else I want to do to it other than put snow on the snowless pine needles and find a couple of small candy canes to put on top of the roof where it peaks.

Those are gorgeous Crissy...I wouldn't do anything else to the birdhouse...love the color...and you said you weren't crafty, now look at you!

Maybe Crissy you weren't feeling the best because you were worried about your mom...update please!

That doesn't seem fair to have Dave work straight through like that..do you not have laws that prohibit such going ons?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

No State laws, just the Federal law that states you can work up to 28 days in a row without a day off. Now they do pay the overtime anything over 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, but it's nuts. They're not even required to give them breaks or lunches. I think that should be illegal and we have a hard time with it because CA is all about Employee Rights and it's law that you have 2/ 10 to 15 minute breaks plus at least 30 minutes for lunch in an 8 hour period, plus you get the same overtime.

I posted an update on mom on the Best/Worst thread. I thought I copied it so I can paste it everywhere but apparently not! LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Just got off the phone with mom, my goodness she's all down in the dumps because she has a bunch of stitches and she's sore. She's already done double today of what she could in one day before the surgery and she says it's not going to get any better. Eye yey yey

Thanks Betty!! I am surprised that birdhouse came out as good as it did, same with the wreath! I was going to hang it but need another person to tell me if it's even with the picture on the other side of the wall, so I didn't.

I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with these nice thick pork chops and I have no complete recipe that are in my books, so I'm going to go be creative... Seems to be my thing today! :)
