3rd Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop..won't you join us!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Welcome to our 3rd. Annual Christmas craft adventure together..keep in mind that it's a fun day, it's the memories of sharing and not the actual piece..it will be a 'treasure' that over the years when you take out your Christmas decorations that you will remember us, your Dave Garden friends who have over this past year shared dreams, laughs,tears...each and every one of you has offered support, compasion and love from DG members, this workshop was meant as a play day as few can get together..the project is simplified so that even if you've never done a craft, you too can make the project!

The idea of this workshop came a few years ago when I was teaching '1 day Make and Take' workshops at home for family and friends when some of the girls here at DG said how they wish they could attend, that was impossible, so together we came up with a plan...an on-line workshop...

In 2007 we did a 'santa' sleigh workshop..my responsibility was to prepare kits and ship to each of the participants...we picked a day where I would sit at my computer and we'd all work on same project, I'd post step by step and answer questions where needed...I was thrilled with the outcome..I did however have to charge a $20.00 fee to cover cost of materials and shipping...

Here are some of the 2007 Santa Sleighs..note it's very difficult to actually see that the victorian santa's are material and not painted...

In 2008, our workshop grew in numbers...again for $20.00 I shipped over 35 kits for Victorian Santa's...oh what fun we had..here you can see the treasures that were made..some were kept and some were Christmas gifts..

I've been a bit of a scatter brain for a few months, starting to join the world again..lol..so my thoughts for those who wish to join us this year is as follows:

I will list several projects this year for you to choose from..all about the same degree of painting ability, which is NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!

Yes, anyone can do them...because they are about the same amount of preparation, weight for shipping purposes a choice is possible...

My intent is to open this workshop to all until Oct.28th..which will give me Halloween weekend to get the kits made and ready to ship on my next cross over the border weekend on November 6th..from your side of the border it should only take approx. 1 week to arrive...

My address is on DG so payment of $20.00 can be sent once you've decided to register.....

During the next few weeks we'll pick a date (or two) where I'll be available to you for questions you may have in the making of the kit..

A treat for you will be included in the package....

Should be fun...

For those of you who have questions, just post them here and I'll keep checking for your project choice....

Getting more chairs out..still room in OUR 'DG craftroom'

So dear DG friends, hope to see some of you join in the fun.......I've given you lots of choices!

Suggestions greatly appreciated...

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

What a great idea Bettypauze! Love them all. Do you have a Christmas ornament kit that comes in bulk for grandkids to do? Thinking of that for mine.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

flowers I was thinking...but what If I want them all?...I love crafting almost as much as plants

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Oh, Betty, you again have come up with the cutest things. I am not a painter nor a wood worker but all of these snowmen are right up my alley. Will you have time for all these choices? I know you have been very busy lately.
Also, can you give us a general idea of the dimensions? Tt is hard to tell from the pictures just how tall or wide these are.

Arnett, WV(Zone 5b)

I like # 4 Betty. Although I like them all. I think its a great Ideal !! I would like to be included.

Cathy

Blackshear, GA

I would like to do it. My top three:
1. - #4
2. #7
3. #5

I like them all, those are the cutest to me. Do you include all the materials or would we have to buy paint or other stuff?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

I can't choose

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Do the snowman candle holder Trina its really cute.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, If I have to narrow it down, I can get it down to three of them. They are all so cute.
Yes, can you give us some rough dimensions please.
Put my name on the sign up list please?
My choices would be for 3, 5, & 7.
Thanks for doing another Christmas project, I really enjoyed last years santa!

I'm a good in 'time management' lol..

Barb, please join us..no painting experience needed..you'll see, all of yours will look exactly like the photo's - perhaps nicer with all the extra's you'll add...

I've done my day limit with edits...
still have dimensions to add...will do it tomorrow but in the meantime
the last 3 that were not added are:

#1 18" tall x 14" wide approx.
#2 18" tall x 16" wide "
#7 18" tall x 15" wide "

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

but what if I can't ecide and I want more than one? maybe 1 of each?

I need a life!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Janice, come on, bite the bully and come and play...

Flowers, here's something you could do with grandchildren

drats Janice, lol, meant to say bite the bullet, not bully...maybe I was thinking as I was typing that I was being a bully trying to encourage you to join us...

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

never bettypauze, can never be pushy trying to get someone to do something new! I have 5 teenagers, sometimes you have to be really pushy! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

As this one has also been requested, I'll add a #8 to it...

Betty, that melting snowman is so cute!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, you could buy the wood ball at Michaels, or even use a sterofoam ball, as for the base, well if you don't have the means to cut wood you could look at the $$$ store for something to set it on or even a plastic plate...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I still like the candy canes!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Bettypauze, What if I want to purchase more than one kit?

Glenview, IL

HERE I AM, HERE I AM!!!

Wouldn't miss it for anything...
Had way too much fun with the last 2 workshops.

Woohoo, so glad to see framiliar names and some new name(s) to the workshop I mean.

Waving HELLO.

Ohhhh, I am so far with #'s 3, 4, # yet another, and possible 2 and 6

Yippeee, now where is Liz?? Oh she's at work, big bummer, will have to txt her from Breenie's phone, lolol.

Ho, HO, HO...I am excited!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I do have the saws to cut the wood, and it looks like I can figure that one out, with out a pattern!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Knew I could count on you Judy...you and Liz are the ones that got me motivated in 2007...I haven't forgotten your faces...all are poured..will bring them into the office one day next week - paint them and ship them...already have Trisha's face mold in an envelope to mail out as well...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Very simple LadyKay...I've lots of projects I've done with the kids..should post some here while we chit chat before our workshop..know many of you enjoy doing crafts with the grandchildren..yikkes, did that all the years they were growing up....had them over to do teacher and grandparent gifts..would have been nice had the other grandparents sat with them and done 'this' grandma a Christmas craft..lol...

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Sending my registration snail mail.

Cheque OK? (Cdn $)

2 x #7.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm here!!!!!!!!! #4 and #7 and.... and....and....can we just do one a week until Christmas gets here?!!?

I love the Melting Snowman as we get so little snow he would be a perfect decoration here!! I have to show him to mom!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha, just got back from lunch..was in the $$$ store and saw an item and it jogged my memory..there was a nice child size shovel..what I did with the kids and it would work out great for you who has no snow, is to purchase the styro balls-different sizes, glue them to the shovel to form a heap of snowballs and then make or buy a nice Christmas ribbon for the handle..just too cute...I'll see if I've a photo

well got my $$$ and my travel insurance now I'm anxious to leave tomorrow for Frankenmuth, just know I'll come back with a zillion ideas and penniless

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you have a safe, and wonderful trip. Please post when you get back home.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sounds Cute! Would love to see a picture.....

Right now I am tied to the News.....there is a six year old up alone in a Helium Balloon in Colorado and they don't know how to get him down....very scary situation!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh goodie!! That time again to play with Betty!
