Is Le Gateau Roi the same thing as King Cake with the baby inside?

I have had beignets only once in Orleans. I had 3-4 but I could have eaten those all day!!!

Gotta go. PT again today.

Beignets are fried yeast dough coated with powdered sugar....too good with coffee and very easy to make. You can even find boxed mixes for them.

On the King Cake, the frosting is just a simple powdered sugar icing. It is drizzled over the cake and topped with colored sugar (regular sugar in a bag with a few drops of food color added to tint the sugar) while the icing is still "wet"

yes Venice My Grandfather use to be a cook in New Orleans and I have all his cookbooks and he's the one that taught me to cook....though I prefer baking....teacher sent home the recipe for king cake with austin and I have been laughing at her recipe all night....I don't know where she got it, but she really needs to check things out better before she sends them home with the kids....good thing austin was smart enough t know something was wrong with her recipe, he wasn't sure what, but he knew something wasn't right

It just wouldnt do for me to name one of my animals Chocolate . Every time I would call the pet,it would trigger the little chocolate bugs in my brain. I would look like Jabba the Hut !! Would be running around with eternal chocolate smears on my mouth and no teeth. Then I would have to wear the Wally World teeth permanently. Grin

Pastry:

1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
3 pkgs. active dry yeast
2/3 cup warm water
2 tablespoons sugar
3 eggs
3 tablespoons salt
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
3 1/2 cups flour

Filling:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup raisins
1 cup melted butter

Icing:
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon water

now what about this is wrong

well dixie I like to bake goodies not so hot on the cooking at least not here....these guys don't get food is suppossed to be DONE before you eat it, spices are a good thing, and not everything gets served with ketchup or ranch dressing

I made rosemary chicken and before they even tasted it they all put ranch on thier plates, I said what are you doing, they said we always eat ranch with chicken...so I warned them that was gonna taste like crap they better try the chicken first...they didn't listen...daughter refused to eat anything I cook after that so plbt! Dad can cook for them and I'll cook for me and kenny we like a little variation to our food

pastry:

Purple and gold food coloring
1 tiny plastic baby

poor kid....on one hand it really is an honor and on the other she's right about the kids think its a joke thing...all it really is, is a popularity contest...one more way to make a girl feel bad about herself....they need to find better ways to promote student ACHEIVEMENT academically AND in the community....you sometimes there's a kid out there who may not be that great at schoolwork but maybe they volunteer in the community, or tey study ballet and they're really great at it, or they happen to be a very talented artist...and stop promoting who's the most popular or prettiest

not in Iowa aparently....if the woman names you on the birth certificate and then dies aparently your stuck....the one last night was a boy...he wants to go to MIT and then get an old VW Camper revamped so he (in his words) can fit his Harley inside, his surf board on top and hitch his boat to the back, and have just enough room for him and his honey of the moment
