Shes about too... #47

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well don't feel bad, I lost my naughty nicks from Kimarj, and I feel really bad. They make me want to get another and spank that naughty nick into growing! LOL
I had so many cuttings going, I still havn't taken inventory, but I have seen some casualties that I am leaving in until I can't easily tug them out. I just remember my Frosty last year a little three incher that I thought had died for sure, yet it came back and grew almost 6 ft tall and flushed twice for me.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Morning all, hope you have a great day.

Went out to the garden room at about 3am this morning. I was going to water and noticed envelopes had been knocked off my table and pots sort of moved (only us gardeners would notice that) so I got a little concerned about what was in there with me. I knew I had not shut my cat in there......so what was it? Course after having 2 snakes in there I was a little on edge, when I hear this sound behind me........ I about jump out of my skin as this big fat furry mouse scurries up the cedar siding walls! This is the first time I have ever had a mouse in there! But would rather have a mouse than a snake! DH laughs at me cause we have this mouse trap where you can trap them and release. I drive down the road and release them by the lake.....LOL Just glad they aren't snakes.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, I would have had to change change clothes after that! I don't like them, and I would not have been so nice to them.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

LOL Linda Kay, ....actually he is still there cause I had to get ready for work. Living in the country there are sooooo many mice, you can't live out here without a cat.....I just don't want to think what a mess I would have if the kitty was chasing a mouse in such a small conjested room with all my flowers.....flowers first!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

oh,oh,oh I'd rather have a BLACK snake anytime than any mouse. I hate those destructive things, and I hate a roach even more than a mouse. If I go anywhere and see a roach, I don't even sit down or put my purse down, so afraid of caring one home with me. Give me Black (only) snakes anytime.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This has been around before, but worth posting again! Enjoy! ^_^

REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.

Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the
spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.

We should've known......

ONLY women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the funny LK.

For the record I love mice... Sorry ladies.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Then you can have mine, come and get them!
Actually we don't have that many, but when one does get inside, hubby is the one that goes balistic! He can't stand them!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

LOL that was funny LK
Joyce, we have caught at least 10 mice already.. with all the cats around here i have no clue why we have them.. they all are in the garage tho, not the house.. they got into my seed boxes and lunched out and I got mad and had DH trap them.. but i still like them. I like our garter snakes and ribbon stripe snakes here too..
Gosh, I should be living out in the country I guess.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I have one cabinet in the kitchen that I keep having a problem with mice. Guess the are coming in from somewhere. I just put in mouse poison and they eat it. I keep putting in the poison and something keeps eating it. I don't find mouse stuff anywhere else in the kitchen or house. My cat sits and watches that cabinet!

Winter has been so darn cold here already.. snow 3 times so far.. I have probably lost all my in ground brugs no matter how well they are bubble wrapped.. we have wrapped and mulched as much as we could before the cold arrived... we can just wait and see but it is in the low 20's almost every night.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

get a mousetrap.. keep it going until you don't get anything.. they work well..
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all.
Want to share my Brugs with you. They were the first for me and I do hope they will come back this year. We have had so much rain, I'm afraid they will rot in the ground. We have a perk problem and water just stands.
Love to all.

Good morning, and Happy new year!
Faye those blooms are so pretty, hopefully they will come back for both you?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Faye, those blooms are beautiful!

Happy New year to all!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

wow! what a beautiful garden you had last year.. bet you can't wait until spring again.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Love all those beautiful photos of your angels. Now I know what my Yard Sale one will look like. If I take good care of them I should have some beauties. I have to put the ones you sent me in pots very soon.

It is a beautiful sunny day here, warmer outside than inside. I think I'm going to have to stand out in the sunshine to warm up. Think it is time to check out my garden area. I thought I saw a small bud on my large plant, have to go and check it out. I left a couple of my tomato plants in the raised bed and I'm just wondering if I could have some winter tomatoes on them. My blood orange tree is full of fruit. Someone told me that they will be ready in Feb., sounds strange huh? I did pick one off the tree and it was very good but the 'blood' was just starting to form.

Wishing I could send sunshine to everyone.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

oh Pegi, it is a frozen 14 degrees here LOL

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Thank you Linda and Debra., Yes I'll be glad to see Spring and watch for my beauties to come back for me.

Early in the morning, Ray & I have to go to Bennington, IN for Ray's Brothers funeral. Please pray for our safe travel. We are taking our 4 footed sons with us and will be stopping many times on the way. It will take about 12 hrs to get there. We hope to be back here late Tuesday.
Will miss you and will be glad to be back.
Faye

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

hi Pegi, I do hope your Brugs will live and make a beautiful showing for you. My new cuttings have been in pots for about 3 weeks.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

stay safe and God Bless, Faye.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please drive safely Faye. Sorry to hear about the passing of Ray's Brother.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I was going to pot up some of my brugs that Faye sent me, but didn't get out to gather my pots up. It was nice out today I really should have done it, but lazy me decided to just play on the computer. I know I have all sorts of small pots to start them out with.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I took an Inventory of what has survived from everyone today. I counted 56 living brugmasias.. go figure.. Lost are:
wretched mess, naughty nick, cuba One, desiree, cypress gardens, pink charm, one out of two wretched mess.

They all recieved the same care and devotion.. I figure what makes it to spring was meant to be..

I am thinking Spring..

Sorry I've been MIA.
Hope your birthdays, Christmas and New Year's celebrations have been good!
So here's to wishing you all a great 2010 Brug Year!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Good morning to all my dear friends here. Thank you all for your prayers. Ray and I made it safely to IN and got home last night. I am so glad I don't have to live in that weather. On our first stop to gas up and let the 4 footed sons walk, it was 13 degrees and the wing was vicious. We stopped 5 times and each time I took the little ones out. No way could Ray do it. He is having to wear a medical boot, and back brace. One slip and he may not have been able to get up. AND...my little boys also had to be walked just before going to bed....no matter the weather, they are just like the mail...they have to go. Could not have asked for better behaved babies even when we got to Indiana and they were with a house full of strangers.
The service for Ron was very nice, church was full, and Ray got a chance to see many nieces nephews that he hadn't seen in a long time. We were also blessed with seeing Ray's Son.
Love to all, and again, Thank you so much for your prayers.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your back home, safe and sounds.
Get some rest!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

So glad you are home, Faye, safe and sound with all your babes and your DH. I am so glad your DH got to see his family.. what a wonderful thing! Hope you are all warm and safe, it is horribly cold and windy here.. I can't believe I have to go out in the 40 below windchill to walk around cars tommorrow.. ugh! Out comes the fur and the warm hat!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

First time in 29 years I have not made it to work. Between the snow and windchills and drifts.....good grief!
Well Christmas stuff is up and now I can start devoting more time to my green leafy babies.
I am hearing folks in the south are getting in the 20's!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Has anyone heard from JB? She has not posted in a long time! Sure hope she is OK? And how about AuntB? If anyone talks to her, tell her she is dearly missed here.
Stay warm.
LK

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Linda Kay, I know JoesWife sees and talks to AuntB. Since our weather has been so awful she may not of physically seen her for awhile. I haven't seen or talked to AuntB since the roundup....

OK, I made it to work......now if I can make it home....I know you all from way up north are laughing but we are having minus temps with a lot more minus wind chill......ohmy. Glad I have the snow cover for the little plants outdoors. The birdies are eating me out of house and home. I have a big feeder and I am filling it every day....poor things.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please drive safely.
Glad your not in St. Louis. There was a guy that went on a shooting spree this morning, and killed like 4 people, more are in the hospital, and may not make it!

(Cathy), MO

Just popping in to say hi and stay safe everyone. It's bitter cold and snowy here too Joyce. Drifting to block alot of 2 land roads down here. Nothing to do but just hunker down and wait it out!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I called AuntB from work, while hiding in the corner of my office wrapped in leather.. She is under feets of snow and trying to stay warm. She misses ya all and is doing okay. Joyce you went to work? ugh! I did too, but the snow is n't the problem, it is the below zero wind that is making me miserable. I agree with Cat, hunker down and wait it out.. too bad we all can't just take off work when this happens..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the update Debra!
Please stay warm, and drive safely if you have to go out!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Linda Kay, I made a quilt and enjoyed every second of it. Wish I had more time, when I cease working that is one thing I am taking back up. On a cold winter night I loved working on it. I took a class where you did a block a week and loved it. We use to travel back then and I would even take the blocks on the airplane with me (that's how long ago that was) and work on them.

JoesWife, I made it to work Wednesday but 6 ft snow drifts, road closed so I did NOT make it back home. So after work Wednesday I went shopping at Macys. Needless to say I think I was the only one in there. Went a little crazy, got new slacks, shirts, socks, undies, purse (you know I couldn't carry the same one as I took to work Wednesday...LOL), and shoes.....LOL Course now I am broke, but they were having a great sale. Actually got slacks that were short enough for me, instead of me pulling the waist up to my neck! Spent the night with my Mom, love her to death, but our idea of tv shows is vastly different! Her house is dark, my house the entire south side (solar gain) is glass so it is bright all the time, just so many differences....LOL, but we had a good time together for the night. Glad to get home on Friday night.

hope43, I travel to Tulsa on business every once in a while. Been going there for years and for some reason I still get turned around in your city....LOL

Hope all of you who have brugs in the ground in the south make it ok. I saw you all were having really cold temps for you all.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I understand staying with Mom... one night is fun but enough. When I go to the mountains with them for the weekend I am more than ready to get back home. I love mom to death but am ready to kill her after 48 hours straight with her. LOL I love light too and don't understand the dark lamp shades.. what is the purpose of a light!?

I am sure my outside wraped brugs are toast with temps in the teens each night for the past two nights. Burrrr.... hopefully something will survive from the ground. We have our fingers crossed..we mulched very well on everything.
