sometimes they do that this time of year, my P&C the blooms got smaller just before I dug it up, it like they know it's time to go dormant, if you have a sunny window put it there, if you don't put it under lights, just see if it doesn't have new growth & leaves
Elizabeth
Blooming Brug
I just put it under the lights Elizabeth, it's the one I had heating pad to see if that would help...it is about a 6 inch cutting.
And peat is what I have all the cuttings in, that you sent last time, and they are growing like gang busters.
Dee
Dee
that's great news, you see the difference using peatmoss as apposed to using water, I don't like that odor from the water, I leave them in water just when I cut them, then peatmoss, I am lucky my DH loves my plants, I spent almost all evening, getting everything in, you will be amazed at the size of cutting of Apricot moonflower, do you have a small fish tank? they make great containers for the log method
Elizabeth
Oh, my husband loves my plants too, but he loves to complain, not seriously, tho...lol I don't have a small fishtank to use. I have a 55 gallon one, but it has fish in it..lol...I will be watching the thrift store for one to use, tho. They have them fairly often.I can hardly wait to get(and see) the Apricot Moonflower cutting. I fell in love with that one, when I saw the pic you posted of it, a long time ago..lol
Dee
Wonder where Charleen, slipped off to...she's being too quiet. I bet she's over gabbin' with those wild girls on the Sprouting thread..lol
Dee
Dee
let me warn you, that is a fast grower in the ground, last winter it was the size of your pinky finger, then when I put it in the ground it just kept growing, I had to cut that limb with a tree saw, nippers just wouldn't do it, I know I have that one big enough to send you a log, there are a couple more like that, when you want them to go dormant, you cut back to the Y, then sit them in the dark, they look like sticks, by leaving the Y, they Bloom a lot quicker next spring
where's Charlene, she must have went to bed allready
Elizabeth
Dee
that's funny, we posted at the same time, wondering where Charlene is
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, I went to the plant files, just to look at AMF , and have you seen the picture there of the guy who said his was as tall as his roof, but he's in California.
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/85946/
Dee
Elizabeth, you don't really need to send me any more than one log.I would just like to try growing one, like that. I saw it on BGI and thought that it was neat, but I really like growing the regular cuttings.
In the plant files it says that AMF, gets to 18 ft! What a great brug!
Dee
Dee
that's awesome, what would you do if it got that big, now that would take some doing getting that baby out of the ground
I expect mine to get at least 8 ft next year
Elizabeth
Dee
I am just happy to share, I would rather they find a good home, as I am sure they will
Elizabeth
Yes, mam, I will shower them with lots of love.I am planning on this time next year, having everything cleared out of that one spare bedroom, so I can turn it into a greenhouse room, and bring in full size brugs.. This year, I can still use it to set up a couple grow lights, even with the furniture in it. Next year I will have all the furniture emptied out.
Dee
Elizabeth...the ones that you are bringing in now, when you pot them up, do you use peat, or MG?
Dee
Dee
sounds like a good plan, I am potting, the ones I have in buckets of water, I use Miracle grow that I mix with moisture Max, makes a lot more soil, the moisture is less expensive than MG, it makes a good mix, I got angels exotic & phanamenal, potted up earlier, they are under lights, so far they don't look stressed out, & there are no earth worms
in there
Elizabeth
I have never heard of moisture max...where do you buy that at?
Dee
Dee
I think tommorrow I will start a new thread, after I get some work done, I still have Pic's I want you to see how angels moonlight looks orange, all summer it looked white or creme color, there's also another one that's dark pink, when it was in the ground, it looked light pink, also Rosa Traum looks like frosty pink
Elizabeth
Dee
Lowes, has it, where they have the Miracle grow, I think it's $2.00 less, in the spring & summer I think I keep them in business, the manager over there, I ask him about the mark downs, there was this really nice potted ;lavender down by some plants that were 50 percent, so I ask if I could get it for half off, he said what do you think this is lets make a deal
well I got it for that price, he always marks things down for me
Elizabeth
LOL, Elizabeth, you have him trained..haha That's great. I can't wait to see all your pics. They are amazing... the way they change colors, aren't they? Yep one great plant!
Did you plant your lavender in the ground? I started Lavender"lady" under lights last year. Some say it is annual, and others say it's a perennial that blooms the first year. But I wanted try a lavender hedge around one of my beds. I didn't try to shape it this year, but I will begin, if it does come back next year. I love the smell!I also grew it in a pot, and cut it back, and have it in the basement with the geraniums.
Dee
What is the difference between a cutting and a log?
Lynn, if you go back up and look at our posts from last night, Elizabeth did a great job of explaining it.
Dee
By the way, Lynn, glad ya popped in..
Dee
Dee
mine are in the ground, I also planted some at my DD's, now they are really spread out, if you dry the blooms, you can use it as a carpet freshner, makes the whole house smell great, also you can use it too make your car smell good
I have had a little cloth bag of it in my car for a long time, they like full sun
Elizabeth
Lynn
good to see you, the difference in the two, is you lay one down & you stand the other one upright, the upright one you have one plant, when you lay it down, you get more plants, if you have any more questions I'll be happy to answer them if I can
Dee
thanks for the compliment
Elizabeth
I received some cuttings that looked like logs, they are about an inch in diameter, 4- 6 inches long. Would I just bury them lengthwise in a potting mix or coir? I put them in my EZ Cloner yesterday. Thanks everyone for the help.
Yeah, I did a lot of reading about it before planting it, bcase I had tried growing it before, and it always died on me, But this yearI built up a little birm cotaining soil, manure, and lots of sand mixed in, because they say that poor drainage is what causes it to die nost of the time. Figure if I only loose one or two, I can use the ones in the pots to plug in the empty spots. I grew all summer mlong and smelled wonderful.....i just brushed mh hands over it whenever I walked by it
Elizabeth, are you still planning on mailing our boxes on Monday? I can hardy wait to see what goodies are in there. I'm just like a little kid at Christmas...lol
You still working on plants?
Dee

Dee
Hello everybody. When you are chatting I am sleeping so I have a lot of work to keep up with you. I have read that apricot moonflower is the most fragrant one. I thought I had to have this one! I already googled this one here in the Netherlands but nowhere for sale here. Not one hit for the Netherlands. So I suppose I won't be getting this one. :(
Take a look at this site: http://www.kwekerijgommer.com/webshop/index.html
What brugmansia's do you like. I have bought a few here this year. But I also would like to have some dark pink.
I would like to have
Dalen's pink amour
Angels proud
Phänomenal
Shredded white
I don't know anyone with these plants here so I have to buy them in stead of taking cuttings.
what a great assortment ofbrugs there.. some of them are about [ seen ]here.. but many are new to me. their triple stuffed pink ig my favorite...
what's in like for you to bring cuttings in to the country there..
what do you mean with your last sentence GordonHawk? I don't understand it.
I'm just guessing. I'm sure he will answer.
What is it like to bring cutting to the Netherlands?
Could I possimbly be able to send you cuttings without any trouble?
I was wondering that myself. Each country has so many
laws concerning customs.
Charleen
Morning Everyone.Where did you disappear to last night Charleen?Jori, it's nice to see you back. It's too bad that you have no one to trade brugs with there.I'm sure that Gordon is wanting to know if it is legal to just ship you cuttings. If you haven't read the thread that he has going now, you must. It shows pics of his beautiful rooftop garden. He gardens in the city and his brugs(and other plants) are amazing! He is our Brug king here on Dave's Garden!..lol.. Here is a link to his thread:

I was wondering where you all were at. I just hung my head and went to bed. Bummer!!!! Not today, I'm here got to go get a couple bales of hay for longears and a bucket of sand.
I have plenty of cuttings, after I make them into cuttings to share. Young pink one i still in pot on South side of house.
got two EE planted in pots. Dee, you think the rest will be o.k. in thheir bags??? I think I am going to put the Banana out today.
So I will be bopping in and out.
Jori is sweet girl, love her already.
Charleen
Charleen, if you want to store the EE over winter,You need to dump some dry peat in the bags. They are small and will probably dry up, if you don't.
Aww, Charleen, we missed you last night!
Dee
Good, I missed you all yesterday, I kept coming back and I was so sad to to have been able to ketch
up with you. O.k. I got peat and i sure want them in great condition next spring. Planting tree seeds today too.
Went and got our 2 bales of hay for another week, and a 5 gal. bucket of Sand. Yeah, for my cactus.
Happier than a hog in the wallering hole. ^_^
Charleen
Should the peat be damp? Dee??/
