Elizabeth, I got all four of my Brugs, here in front of the window in front of my comp. desk.
If it doesn't get too horrible cold am going to plant the ones in the pots in the ground and bring tops in.
I am going to put them in bathroom , maybe I can see them bloom and smell them. They will be
closer.
they are calling for temp. to go down to 39 tomarrow, so got to do something with them.
Charleen
Blooming Brug
Charlene
today was down right chlly, the high of 44, tonight it will be 35, then tommorrow not much better, I just feel better having everything taken in, I will have at least 4 big clippings of Apricot moon flower, I had no idea, it would be that big out of the ground, the rest of this evening, I will be running out grabbing some more plants, then checking in here for a break
it seems like I get a lot more done that way
Elizabeth
I need to get my hibiscus in, a bougainvilla start, Two African trees( can't think of their name),
I may have to put that MG tree up against the house.Brought the Pumpkin Brug in.
That pup is grwing!!!1 Had to put him out
Charleen
Charlene
that pumpkin is a very fast grower, I have to get my white & rasberry Ice Bougainvilla in also, I tried to sell them all summer because they do take up room, if I counted all the plants it would take me the biggest part of a day, I don't know why, I do this too myself, I think next spring I will have less houseplants & more Brugs, you will be amazed next spring how fast your Brugs grow, summer kisses was just about a foot tall when I put it in the ground, now look at it
& that monster NOL was a stick about 4 ft tall, now it is pushing the floor joist in the basement, I mean bent over at the top
Elizabeth
It is still blooming and you don't want to cut it yet, right?
I wouldn't either. Now I cut back on watering them??? That Pumpkin has roots coming
out of the pot it is in. I've not had it a month. Amazing, isn't it.
Still have a bouganvilla, from a cutting, that is still out there. Just thought of that.
Calling for snow in North Carolina mtns.
Weather man getting excited.
Charleen
Our forecast is the same as yours Elizabeth, supposed to get down to 32, tomorrow night, then it's supposed to warm back for a few days. I have been popping in and out all day long. I got some house work done. Got all the plants that I got in the tropical plant swap potted up. Got the rest of the geraniums carried to the basement. I had already brought them inside, tho.Moved other plants from under the grow lights to make room for more brug cuttings. Sounds like you have had a busy day.I'm glad that you are finished digging!
Charleen do you have a pandora vine? I think I read where they can be a pest down your way, real invasive.I bought a variegated on at the end of the season, and I just love it. It has grown like gangbusters.I took some old copper tubing, and , and bent it into a big heart shape and stuck it in the pot, and it has already covered it once, but I am going to just keep wrapping it, until it gets thick. I need to read how to take care of it, because I really need to move it to one of the spare bedrooms, but don't know how it will do with less light.
Dee
No, don't have a pandora vine, but will look it up here in lttle bit.
Our meeting starts at 8;30 and me and Charlie got to be there ^_^
I put Pumpkin in the Garden tub, Dee. It's sending roots out already.
Maybe I should have repotted it for Winter, you think??Elizabeth.
We are busy as a bunch of ants with our plants, aren't we??
Charleen
I had forgotten about your meeting "Dances with Mules"..Hope ya have a good time.
Elizabeth, got a question for you. Is Insignus a type of brug, or is that just part of their names. If it is a type of brug, what are their characteristics? I tried looking it up and didn't find anything.
Dee
Dee
I hope I can answer that for you, I think it's a type of Brug, if you post that question on GW to shawn, he can give you a better answer, they had that discussion on BGI, I just can't remember exactly, I think it's like the wildform, they have thier own catagory's, they are hard to find from what I have read
Dee
you would laugh at me right now, here I sit with a tree saw & nippers, ready to run out trim a couple huge brugs
Elizabeth
Girl, go get it done and over with..lol.I did find something about it..it a cross of two other types, right now I can remember which two, tho..lol
Dee
Dee
you talk about clippings, I just used my tree saw, for Dola & Apricot Moon flower, these you could a couple 5inch cutting
& use the log method, to get more, they were 3 inches in diameter, both of them
Elizabeth
Sounds like baby logs. Did you get any pic yet, Elizabeth?
of the plants in your basment. have you cut the tops out??
Charleen
Charlene
the Pic's will be Sunday night,I cut them back some enough to get them through the door, I took a pic of NOL laying on the side walk after I took most of the leaves off, tommorrow, I have to arrange the plants, right now they are just put down there to get them in, tommorrow night I will be arranging them, I still have to find all the trays to elevate them some
buy hey, they're all dug up, I hope it doesn't dip down to 32 tonight, if it does, I will have to replace some plants, but not Brugs
Elizabeth
Well, don't pitch any Elizabeth! Send me a couple logs to try...I have a dola cutting, but I have been wanting to try the log method!...only if you have extra logs..lol Sounds like you have some very happy brugs!!
Dee
you don't need a very long piece for the log method, right? I guess the longer the piece, the more plants you get right...
Dee
But, I don't really need a bunch of one kind...lol...just got excited..lol
Dee
Do you cut the log in half? lengthways?
Charleen
Charlene
you cut them like you're cutting fire wood, then you lay that whole piece in dirt, you get a lot more plants, than if you root them standing them up
Dee
all you need is a 4 inch piece,
Elizabeth
i have a Hawaiian ti plant that I started like that. Amazing isn't it?
charleen , look here. maybe I shouldn't post that here

I have never had a Brug, that keeps Blooming after you dig it up, but Angels Exotic, is the most amazing Brug, I have
ever had, it started Blooming in may & has bloomed all summer, now I have it in a bucket of water, to get rid of worms
& to lessen the shock, it's still Blooming
Elizabeth
Dee
I am glad you posted that, look at you, you little enabler, good job
Elizabeth
Is it in the basement Elizabeth. I bet it smells great down there. That one sounds like a winner!
Dee
But, did you see that I deleted it,,lol...I remembered Daves saying somthing about discussing the other sites...hope she got it..lol
Dee
Dee, Look at what?
Is this thing letting us put links on?
Charleen
Dee
you know it is, did you know that Summer Kisses, is newly registered, this year, JT at Country Gardens, came up with that one, one of the buds fell off while I was digging it up, I put it in a vase of water, smells great, they don't last long in a vase of water, but they make a nice Pic, for a little while
Elizabeth
Can you put a drop of peroxide
in the water to make it last longer?
Charleen..will send it to you in an e-mail..Dee
No, I didn't know that it is newly registered. It sure is beautiful.
Charleen, you have e-mail.Is that the one that you said smelled like lavender the other night, Elizabeth?
Dee

O.K. will look for it.
Charleen
Dee
the one made the house smell like lavender is the cross rosalla X peanut, both of those are dark pink but the seedling Blooms white, but that smell is great, the Pic of the double is Summer Kisses
Charlene
peroxide can be put in the water just dilute it
Elizabeth
Just a drop or two will clear the water.
Charleen
Yeah, I knew that was summer kisses, and now I remember you saying that it was rosalla X peanut..Old timers, again..Dee
Now I have to make up a lot of labels, never do clippings without them, when you start getting your collections together
when you have say 10 you can remember, because you cut them & put them in a bucket with the same ones, but as your collection gets larger, clip tag, just a little tid bit
Elizabeth
I don't envy you Elizabeth, all the cutting and tagging that you have to do.
dee
That is a lot of hard work, for the love of a plant, but
it is well worth it, Isn't it Elizabeth?? I have started tagging
these cacti that I have been getting because I know I can't
remember.
Charleen
I have to tag everything new that I get, even if there is only one of them.My memory has gone to pot..Well at least all the diggin' done..
Charleen tell the truth, how many drinks did you have with the girls at your meeting..lol...They are getting all mushy over there.
Dee
the work is well worth it, when I got that SK it was about a ft tall, now it's pushing 6ft, I had to lay it down to take it down the stairs, I have a bunch of small catcus & one that is over 6ft that one is a lot of fun bringing it in & out, would you believe it sits in a dark corner all winter, I was sure it would die, I only water it a couple small cups of water all winter
I put an amaryllis bulb on top of the soil in it pot forgot about now that thing is there to stay, it blooms in february
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, I know it is all worth it, especially, when you get all those beautiful blooms! Brugs are the just the most amazing plant to me. They grow so quickly and then they(well, alot of them do) bloom off and on all summer. And, even right up until winter. And they smell wonderful!
You can't ask anymore than that from any plant.
Dee
Dee, they are doing Poetry in honor of the Brug Goddess.
It is just as cute as can be. Those little girls
are great. I told them I was about to head for the barn, put that daggone mule up and go to bed.
