Dixie, I don't know about chickens, but we kept those 2 ducks in a box. I would have to clean it up everytime I turned around! I won't go into how gross it was, but it definitely was!

Venice, you found a very deal with those....it's an unusual variety, I like it, I've seen them where the stripes go up and down the leaves instead of across, and I've seen some that get huge!

Trina, that deal on those was so good, they were free!! I think the stripes really do go across but they have a subtle vertical rib.

if I had $50 I'd go back to wal-mart and get me more orchids, but I don't see that happening....but I put it right beside my bed with my fountain that I always have running, now I can wake up to something beautiful everyday, or at least until the blooms all go away and I ask Dave what to do now...LOL

Don't put ice on the Orchid! The minimum temperature of a Phalaenopsis Orchid should be 64 degrees F; max 86 degrees F.

The Orchid does not need to be washed down, I said it can be. Only when the weather warms up, and it must be allowed to dry then.

If an orchid isn't blooming, how can you make it bloom?

When the flowers fade away, cut the flower spike off the plant to encourage more flowering.

Be sure to give the plant the right conditions as Phalaenopsis are easy to kill.

The thing would rather be up in a tree than by a stream. In your bedroom might not be the best habitat. Keep the plant in your grow-room; cut the flower spikes off and put them in a vase in your room.

uh Dave we deliberately put our bedroom in the grow room, uhm because I'm kinda delicate like an orchid. if I'm not kept at the right temperture I'm not sharing the love if ya get my meaning,
so my room is the only room in the house where there are no drafts, temperature is always a perfect 78 (I'd prefer 82 he'd prefer 62 so 78 was the compromise)degrees and I use a humidifier

Venice , I know very well on how gross it is. One pooed on the other ones back today. Welcome to spray painting 101. Grin. I am attached to them . We grew up with horses . So in a way I have exchanged big poo for little poo. Just a whole bunch of little poo !! I am sort of like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Sylvester got to stay home. There are many rare plants in the area that are threatened by feral animals. It is good that they are hunted.

Yea Dave . But Sylvester would be a good mascot. He's toast now. So he can do no harm. He would do you proud. If he was still with the living he would be chewing,slurping,and grinding up every thing in sight.
