Dee,They figured you took care of them enough and din't want to impose on you. You raised them very good. Bu they knew that they could depend on you to be there when they needed you. Is the GS on a nebulizer (?) breathing machine? My SIL has one and if she would quit smoking it would do some good. She is skinny as a rail, but she doesn't want to be fat, so she doesn't eat. I don't want to be fat but I sure ain't going to starve myself to get there. You are a good Grandmama and Papa too, I'm sure. I had Dh to till me up some more flower beds for next spring. Right around that slow curve from the other one. The smallest is going to be a cactus garden(i'm thinking) unless I change my mine. I know I will have enough
flowers from all these I'm getting. Dee, do I need to send anything besides the striped cannas? I can't remember. I got quite a few of them, I know you are into brugs more than anything. But if you see something let me know.
Charleen
I'll say a donkey prayer for the babys and hope for speedy health.
Miss B havin
Thanks, for donkey prayer, Charleen.Yep he has a nebulizer, and it gets used often, but it still scares me when he gets like that..lol
I knew you were gonna have a jungle...me and Elizabeth are gonna see to it...lol..Nope, you don't need to send anything but the cannas.Thank you, thank you. I was just thinking last night that I hope I can remember evrything that I have told that I'm sending...lol Make sure you save room for the tropicals...mostly different kinds of elephant ears.Besides the one that I'm dividing, I have a couple very small ones, that I have had for over a year...they still fit in a 4 inch pot, but they shouldn't...They have really struggled here, so I'm hoping the may take off for you. Do you have walking iris? I think they are hardy for you, but not sure. And, I'm sending the rudbeckia seeds, and double flowered tuberoses....anything else that you can think of?
Well, I'm afraid that I am not skinny, or even close. I could blame it on my thyroid, but I know better. I just like to cook and eat good food :o(... And I'm afraid that I smoke too...but not around the GK's.
Dee
Oh yeah, I'm supposed send a banana and the red leaved canna. I'm typing these in so I can come back and look..lol
Dee
No, I don't have a walking Iris. I've never heard of it. Does it bloom?
Looks lie the painted fern and the spritzer hosta are making it. The Lungwort, is gone and the Blue hostaa, I'm hoping will come out of it.
Love the spritzer, must be tough, It took right off. I think puppy chewed on blue one., that is why I hope it comes back from root.
Dee, we're not fat, we're fluffy. I used to smoke, gave it up gained weight but I'm o.k. It's too expensive to smoke, glad I quit when I did.
When I quit they were about $1.50 a pack, look at them now!
I can put my flowers in the new flower beds. Supposed to start raining tomarrow. With all these rains, the gardens will be in better shape then
they have been in years. We are finally getting out of our drought.
Charleen
here's a link to the walking iris. I'll be back in a little while..potting up cuttings
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2108/
Dee,It is so pretty. Looks like an Orchid.
got to take pic of new flowerbed DH made me today.
Actually two small ones.
I have a few of the walking iris that I will send in your box.I had them in the ground, but I think they look neat in a hanging basket too. They aren't hardy hereyep, we are fluffy..lol I know, the cost of cigarettes is rediculous!DH(who is not a smoker) reminds me often...lol
Elizabeth, If I mention anything, that you can make room for in these posts(in addition to the red leaved cannas and the rudbeckia seeds), just speak up.
Charleen, I will go out and slice down thru my lungwort, but leave it in place till early spring. Then I will dig it and send you another start. It does pout when you first divide it! If your blue hosta doesn't come back, Iwill send another start of that in the spring too, but hostas are tough. I have had a division grow on top of the ground after laying there under the snow, all winter.
Dee
I need to take a picture of that little stripped one, it is haulin' butt. So cute. I planted it about a foot from the lungwort. I just put the balme on Lucas, he doesn't care. He will just lay dow and look up at you with those big ol eyes. "I didn't do it mama" me knowing he did. Here is another flower bed but it needs work , but still not too bad.
When I go out there to work sometimes I can't move for the dogs. They think I need to love on them too, since I am so close to the ground.
I love that bed , so many neat garden things, besides the plants. I wish I had more garden decorations. I am constantly running the thrift stores, and hit a yard sale once in a while looking for stuff I can put out in the yard. I haven't found a lot, but I love it when I do. I Love, love love that big green gazing ball. I need a gazing ball...don't have a one...hmmmm
I'll see if I can find some pictures of my beds from this year.
Poor little Lucas...his mommy is picking on him...he wouldn't chew up plants..never ever....lol
Dee
Elizabeth, I love Rosalla! I bet the whole house smelled wonderful! I bet you are a tired gal, after all that work. Have you got them all dug yet?
Dee
Dee
not at all tired yet, no I haven't got them all dug yet, But tommorrow, I will have, I wanted one more day to see if the ones with Buds on them Bloomed, before I start trimming them back
Charlene
I love your flower bed, so neat & clean
Elizabeth
Culebra is little isn't it, but it is cool looking! lol And, I hope my Dola, gets that big! WOW! I think she's a happy girl!
Dee
Elizabeth, Dee and I been running in and out all day talking to each other, we jave been double tasking, Talking on the computor and working in the yard. Aren't we talented.
Dh made me two more flower beds Taking piictures too. I'm been taking them without the card again!!! !Dog gone it!!I try to remember to put it back in butsometimes i short circuit out! ^_^
Got a Pic of Missy and Lucas in front of Dee's Spritzer Hoya. I told them to smile. Look at Missy Smile. Such a pretty Smile. She loves her Mommy.
Mommy loves her too.
Charleen
I bet you will be glad to have it finished. I've been potting up some of the smaller greener cuttings today, using brenda's method...I love it! But, I need more perlite now..lol
Dee
Do you see it, Dee? Hasn't it grown. I hold my breath. i never know what that innocent little pup is going to do. Elizabeth the Brugs are beautiful, that pink is a WOW!!! That one Does look a little different than the others. But that is what makes them so great. i sure do have strange children. But I enjoy them for the most part.
Charlene
I love your Flower Bed with all the ornaments in it, I like your puppies too, I know they're full grown, but they're always be puppies won't they, gotta love those constant companions
Elizabeth
Look at those faces. You can tell that they are rotten! Elizabeth, Lucas is begging us for a hug, cause his mommy has been picking on him..lol
Your Spritzer has a lot better color than, mine right now.I moved mine to a new spot, when I sent you that division. Spritzer is an older hosta, but I really like the colors of it.
Dee
Charlene
that Brug Rosalla is suppose to be dark pink, I think it's made it, last night, it smelled so good in my living room, I will hate it in the dead of winter, if I want those Blooms in the basement, I have to get the more expensive grow Bulbs
for my grow lights, which is what I am going to tell my DD's all three of them, that I wants those grow bulbs for Christmas
since they allready have their gifts, I told them I didn't do november & December for their gifts, next year it will be August, I want to go shopping for 2011 the day after Thanksgiving, 3:00 AM
Elizabeth
elizabeth, Lucas been eating plants thatDee sent me and i don't like it. She sent me a Blue Hosta and that one behind those dogs and what happens. Lucas has it chewed into little strips IN THR GROUND. Looks like noodles sticking out of the ground now. It is pitiful. Lucas needs picked on the onery little pup.
Charlene
I have extra hostas, if you need one, I gave my DD a huge Blue hosta, she didn't water it, it died, this year she wanted a few Brugs, so I went over to her place planted them, now she wants me to dig them up & care for them over the winter
I told her just let them go, I don't have the energy to do hers & mine
Elizabeth
Oh, my goodness, you already got it planned down to the hour. Elizabeth, I wish I were so organized.
I bet you do it too. Rosalla does look dark in the pic. Do you have a red one?
That's Terrible. She better learn how to do it herself.
Why?? Are you going to make her do it?? Is she injured?
I am I got in Fireants again. They are always somewhere.
I have little blisters when they bite. They have a terrible bite.
Charlene
if I don't plan ahead, I would never get anything done, my DD is 34yrs old, she wants her flower garden to look like mine
but she has othe commitments, she home schools her 3 children, that's why I still help her, she's a great mom, so I make time to help her learn, her DH is a preacher, so she teaches sunday school, & she does 4H with her children
so she depends on her Mom
Elizabeth
But Mom, Have you told her you are not going to be here "forever"?
Just love them while you can, Dear Friend, that is all you can do.
Supposed to start raining tomarrow. DH sais we probably won't get frost til Nov. 12.
I almost feel guilty for having good weather. Isn't that terible??
Charlene
don't fell guilty, it's the zone that we live in. we usually don't have really have bad weather until Feburary, then we can get up to 2 foot of snow, I go & play in it I shovel our parking spots & the side walk
Elizabeth
I love it down here. but every state has things of beauty, all you have to do is look.
My DH is always wanting to go visit places, if we could afford it, but heck, he
needs to check out Georgia first , it has a lot of neat places I haven't seen.
Same way with Missouri. I tink South Mo. Looks a lot like Ga. I loved it.
I bet Ohio is the same way and every other state that we know.
I'm tellin'... Elizabeth said the S word..lol Charleen don't feel guilty. Just enjoy it enough for all 3 of us. I do love to see the snow, as long as I don't have to go out driving in it.., but, I hate the ice..period
Would you guys believe that only one of my daughters likes gardening.. Two want nothing to do with it, but they like to look at pretty yards. They are sooo lucky that both of them, have husbands that love yard work. My son-in law that lives here locally, loves plants, but his style is too formal for me. I like to cram them in...lol
Dee
me too.I have to control myself not to put more flowers in that new bed/ Just got some bulbs and am seriously thinking of putting them in there. Allium is what I got. Still thinking.
I love to watch big fluffy snowflakes, they are beautiful. Snow doesn't last down here usually but just a couple of days and Lord , help these folks when it does snow. Closes everything down. I could not believe it When it happen first time. They sort of go into shock.
Elizabeth, is it hilly where you are. I grew up in SE Ohio, on the Ohio River and on the border of WV,I haven't been back in almost 3 years, and I do miss the hills. When I see them, it still takes my breath away! Do you have any hills down there, Charleen.? I'm in flat land now.
Dee
Charleen, do all the spring bulbs do good in your zone?
Dee
Charlene
I am way past, don't put this here & don't put that there, I take up the whole yard, the basement & the garage
Dee
the S word when I was in beauty school meant when the perm was ready to be rinsed, Oh that's another thing My DD's do they come to talk to me with wet hair & comb in hand, I know what that means Mom I need a hair cut, I make them make an appointment, just for fun, it took me 10 & 1/2 months to ge my licenses to cut hair, but that was just so I could save money
Elizabeth
I would go ahead and put those alliums in there. I have bulbs mixed in with my other flowers.
Dee
Dee
I live between Dayton & Cincinatti, ohio, it's all flat, I love the Khron conservatory, it at the top of mount Adams, that is close to the Ohio river, I donated 8 Brugs to them, they featured them in their Summer sales, I felt honered
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, wish I was closer, I'd make an appointment for a cut and perm..lol..you don't have enough to do already...lol
Dee
Cool! I would have felt honored too! There are a few hills in IN, but I'm not anywhere close to them..
Dee
Dee
perms are easy, if you don't have hair down to the floor, my taking those classes & getting my managers licenses
saved me a ton of money, since I have 3 DD's & 8 GK's, it was rough, with 3 little girls at the time, but I am glad, I got it over with
Elizabeth
