this winter it goes up in front of the window, in the Attic, just to see if the natural light will make a difference, you don't know until you try, I have to bleach out those wading pools, I think in about 2 weeks we're in for a cold spell, the air right now feels down right chilly, oh you were talking about leaves, what would you do if you had to rake the neighbors leaves
normally I wouldn't bother but I need those leave to mulch my fig trees, the dog gone squirrels, only left me 4 figs out of 13, anyway, I cut the bottom out of a plastic garbage can, then stuffed it with leaves around my figs, they made it through the winter last year

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Dee, are they in water? Do they recomind Water instead of soil?
I have mine in soil. Looks like a stick. Lost all her pretty varigated
leaves. I did add cinnamon powder to the soil.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

TheDonkeys and that dog gone mule eat my figs and tree. I think we are going to have to fence it it
from them. They are worse than kids, Just like that brug name "Misbehaven" that is what they do.

Dee
never fear, I have Dola, didn't I put that on my list, probably not, if you lose it I will replace it, is it a large clipping or a small one? the small ones have a tougher time making it, that's why I like to send larger one's, I think Dola is one of the ones that are like a bush, I want a single trunk
Elizabeth

Charlene
you're too too funny you crack me up, when I was young 6yrs old we had a mule, I tried to ride it, you couldn't get it to go. then when it did you couldn't get it too stop, almost broke my neck jumping off it's back

Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I like the tree form better too. they look prettier as a tree. My yellow never did do anything. I'm still waiting.
Might not make it til next year. It's leave look like the pumkin one I just got. Who knows it may be pumpkin too.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Ibet you did almost break your neck. Mules are something else. I have given up ridng. Couldn't keep my butt in the saddle. Idon't know why either, I don't have a little butt. But I sure can fall off. Last time was about two years ago, My foot came out of that stirrip and as I fell over his back I could fell my vertebrae popping. Got a messed up shoulder out of it. Probably need "rotator cup' surgery but It didn't hurt til just this last year. I landed on my right shoulder. Walked backoutto where we had parked the horse trailer. I guess a couple of miles. I didn't go to doctor til next day. robert(DH) was so aggravated at me. I'm a mule headed old woman, sometimes. ^_^

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

The Dola cutting is probably about 6-8 inches tall, but it s nice and thick. The 2 that are just sitting there are sunray and star dancer. The stardancer is the one that I really, really wish would do something...
Charleen, I have been putting my cuttings in water for a few days when I first get them, til they get good nubbies, the I plant them...The two that aren't doing anything, are potted up.
Elizabeth, thanks so much...it's nice to know that you have a back up for Dola.

are the leaves serrated?, the versa color orange, that Blooms yellow then darken, have serrated leaves, but think next spring how pretty everything will be, I have polllen, to get busy with next spring, I would love to cross Rosalla with Angels exotic, to see if I can get that really dark pink
Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Yes, the leaves are serrated on both of them. Not on the pink ones though.
They are a lighter color green too.

Hamilton, OH

Dee
go to walmart, right now they superthrive on sale, it only takes a few drop per gallon of water, that helps them root quicker also B1 helps too, you can find it with the Miracle Grow, also do you a rooting hormone, on the ends

Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

You girls are cracking me up, talking about riding mules..lol...I have never...only rode a horse a couple of times. Charleen, it's not fun to fall after ya get a little age on ya is it. I think the ground gets harder as we age.. We had a bloodhound pup...he was almost full grown, but he pulled me and my husband both flat, and I still have a messed up knee.We had to find him a new home when we moved to town, because he was a barker, and he needed a place where he could do what bloodhounds. He went to a place where he lives on 10 fenced in acres. I cried and cried cause he was my baby, but I knew he was going to a good home.
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Yes, I use rooting powder. I am going payday and get super thrive and bug zap em of some kind...want to be ready..lol
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

That red mule is the one I fell off of but I don't blame him at all.
No, it is not easy to fall when we get older.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

O.K. Elizabeth, What about my Serrated leaves?

Hamilton, OH

Charlene
I bet if the woman who had it could find her tag, it would be versa color Orange, that one Bloom all along the limb with about 200 or 300 Blooms when it gets big, if that's it you'll love it, that's one of the first Brugs I had in 2001, back then I only had 3, could you imagine me with only 3, it seems like a lifetime ago, I don't know how you manage with that bad shoulder, when you can't go out in the garden would be a good time to get that taken care of
Elizabeth

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I don't pay any attention to it, it doesn't bother me all the time, just when I get tired/
I love to work in the garden, what slows me down is my back. it achws and
I have to rest. i think I have Arthritus in it. It is terrible (in some ways) to get
old. But I sure do enjoy doing what I want to do. just wish had money to really
do what i want. It is probably god I do't. This place would be a jungle.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Going to bed , Girls. Goodnight.
Talk to you tomarrow.

Hamilton, OH

Charlene
that's the only ones I have seen with serrated leaves, Charles grimaldi & Versa color Orange, just wait till next spring/summer if you get a bunch of blooms all along the limb, take a Pic post it on DG for an ID & just see if that isn't it
Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Charlene

Night Charleen

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Elizabeth, some of the cuttings that I got in my big swap are smaller greener ones. I think I'm gonna try Brendas method with the TP rolls on them
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
that sounds like a good idea, the reason I ask, is because I got a lot of smaller clippings, I think out of all of them 2 made it there were like 25 clippings, also do you have a nice window in your kitchen, sometimes that helps too
I put some smaller ones in peatmoss in a bucket on the porch they are getting nice leaves on them, I don't know how they will do under lights
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks, for the info Elizabeth, if you are still there...was bathing a dog..lol
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
I am still here, I bet that was a lot of fun, I used to have the prettest Dobie, she choose me, she would try to argue with me, when she was running all over town, digging everyones trash out of the trash cans looking for food, I started feeding her, I never could figure out how she knew where my bedroom was she would bark let me know she was hungry
I would get up & feed her, one day she just didn't go home, she stayed & was my dog from then on, I still miss her
September reminds me of her, she just is going to stay, DH acts like he doesn't like her, he bought her 2 bags of food
the other day I told him she was almost out, then I looked today, there was 2 bags, I think she has won him over
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

That sounds like my husband with Scooter(the bichon). We took him in to keep him from going to the pound. He complained for months that we didn't need three dogs, and he is a lot of care, being solid white and kinky....needs bathed and brushed lots...So, I decided one day that I was gonna see if my son in law wanted him, because he loves him.And my husband said we better not, cause he just knew that no one would take care of him, like we do...lol...Now, he is his baby...lol
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I was reading back over the posts and little does Charleen know, that she is gonna have a jungle next year anyway...lol Between you and me, she's gonna have more brugs that she knows what to do with. ...I am growing cuttings of two of each kind, of most of the ones that I have. And I'm planning on sending her the extras ones of what she hasn't already got from you...lol
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
I will sending her a box, probably Nov.1st, thats when all the clipping, will be done, oh your box too, by that time you'll know what you don't have, I am still waiting for her to tell me if she wants the small catcus, it's in the Pic, with the P&C
look back at that post you can see it, it's a lot bigger than it looks but I have small ones, about the 28 October you need to dmail me, to let me know about Dola, I think my Dola, is pretty big, so the clippings would be about 2 inches in diameter
Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Dee
I am turning in, so you have a good night, I'll talk to you tommorrow, I will put Dola next to Culebra, so you can see how big Dola is, & take a Pic of them
Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

There is a real nice nursery near me tahat has lots of rooted cuttings, in the spring..well they are like 1 2/2-2 inch pots, and she has some very neat plants and she sells the cuttings for like 2 apiece, and drops them to 1.50 if you buy 10.Thanks where I get a lot of my other stuff. She has gobbs of succulents, coleus, different house plants and lots scented geraniums. I have often thought that it would be a great place to buy from in a co-op.
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

k....night elizabeth. Talk to ya tomorrow
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

The Sun is shinning and another beautiful day; temp is 59 degrees this am.
Your nursery sounds like it would be great to visit too, Dee. Got to go out
and check on my critters and plants, make sure my camera has it's sim card in it.
I got to start checking for that when I go out. I just went out, snapped a couple of pic,
got back in the house, NO CARD IN CAMERA!!! Blew it again. Got to quit doing
that. Always rushing, but I am learning to slow down. Going to take a while.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

brrr..it's 40 here this morning. Take some pretty pics, for us Charleen!
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Alright, got my card back IN the camera.
Missy(my big girl) and I can do that.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Charleen, I just saw the pics on the other thread of Charlie and the donkey's. They are beautiful critters!
Is that you brushing Charlie? Either you are a little bitty thing or he is very big!..lol
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Yes, that is me. Charley is 15 hands. I am 5'1''
That a far piece to fall from isn't it?
Been there Done that. ^_^

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Oh my, that is a long ways to fall! You are tiny, my 11 year old GD is 5'1"..lol...I am 5'6", but I have a sis that is 4-11 1/2.She says that 1/2 "is very important..lol
I think I might go ahead and pot up some of the cutting today.Looks like I'm gonna be busy pulling nurse duty with the grandkids this week.
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Are they sick, Dee?
I took another pic of my new flower bed. I've added a gazing globe.
I have to set that globe up straight, didn't realize it was tilted back.
Another reason to take pic.

Thumbnail by ridesredmule
Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I wouldn't have even notice that the gazing ball wasn't straight, if you hadn't mentioned. I love the ball,is that the one that you did? That is a very nice bed! and look at all that room!
Yes, they are sick. The oldest the 12 year old came home Thurday after school with a low grade temp and was achey. Her temp went up that night, so her mom kept her home and took her to the dron Friday..They tested her for the flu and that was positive. They said that if they have the flu right now, that they have a 97% chance of it being swine flu( because it's not flu season yet), but they have to send the culture off and it takes 2 weeks to come back, but they treat it like they have it.They sent her home, with the med they are using for swine flu and my daughter started isolating her as much as possible, and got gloves disinfectants, etc, washing everything in the house but the boys (and DH and I)had already been exposed. She does work in a dr.'s office, so she pretty much knows what she's doing. Well, madison is over the fever part and doing really good, but now the boys are sick. And the oldest boy has severe asthma, so he's the main one that I worry about. They strarted talking about who could take off work when, which I know is hard for them to do..her DH is a teacher.I told her as long as she has all the isolation stuff, that I would come a take care of them, and I that I can handle the temps, but if Mason starts gasping for air, like he does during a bad asthma attack, and I call them...there's no and, ifs or buts, one of them is coming home!Which they will gladly do....they hadn't planning on me helping at all. They really are good parents, and if he gets bad, I would rather them take off then.
Dee
