I'm first!! I'm first!! Yay!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy, once in a while, I'm susceptible to forgetting what I just did or supposed to do next!
You might have to write an S.O.P so you could refer to it, in case it happens again.

Yah, Susan.. if we're wired for sound.. you can bet this room will be the hottest one here!

I'll bid you all a good night, and hope tomorrow will be a better day for all of us ;)

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My mom needs big time prayers too, she has her reconstructive surgery coming up sometime this month and we're hoping and praying that this cures a lot of her pain and she won't have to find a nerve doctor who will cut the nerve.

I got the absolute best news tonight!! My dad is Crew Chief of this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNTan4qAiFg

He called me tonight and they just got through with the air show last weekend, that's the link, and is camping at the south end of the Grand Canyon so it was kinda hard to understand him, but I think he said that NHRA has contacted them and wants to be a part of Shockley Shockwave 1957 Jet Pickup-Truck!!!!!

http://www.shockwavejets.com

I have to go to bed and I'm so excited I'm not tired!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

All I can say is WOW Crissy. My DGS would absolutely love that!!!!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning Ladies,
Boy with these cooler temps and late nights I'm sleeping in until 7. When I'm used to being up between 4:30 and 5:00. I can not believe what a small town I live in. my cousin knows Dave. She was playing darts with him and friends on Tuesday nights. She told me some things about him that have got me really wanting to get to know him better. So I sent him an email this morning, hinting ^_^. Was talking to him yesterday while he was at work. He's a service manager for a radiator shop, and work was real slow so he was able to chat a little.

Poor Steve, if it wasn't for bad luck he wouldn't have any luck at all. His laptop screen went kaput, and it will take 3 to 5 weeks before he gets it back. So he is using a pc at him mom's. Well that will make her happy, he will be over there more often meaning I'm going to see him less. Told him Mom was going to be gone Sunday and invited him up for the day, but he may have an appt with his tax lady. Think I'll throw some more hints at Dave, ask him when he's taking me fishing. The weather will be perfect this weekedn low 80's ^_^

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Found it!

Glenview, IL

Good morning Sistahs all!

What a great day yesterday..got just about most of my tote done. So i was estatic about that.
Plus, I haven't cranked MY music in ages and that was lots of fun too.

Got a little side tracked as I took a short walk just to be in the nice fall day.
LOL, it was weird, we had clouds and rain then sunshine and gusty winds...

Next thing i knew, it was time to make the meal...
LOL, I pulled a Tom Sawyer and got the girls cooking it!
hehehe, they made a shephards pie! It was delicious, and woohoo, no leftovers.
hmmmm, wonder what they can make tonight.

Jaye, hope you got a good rest, you did lots too.

LK, Was nice to "meet" you!

So whats on everyones agenda today?

In a little while, i am going to trek into the city! I just happened to remember this fantastic crafting wholesale place.
So I want to see what they have for my Christmas ornament Swap!!
Actually, there is 2 of them on opposite side of street...

gotta grab some more coffee now, see you in a bit.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello ladies! Again, I have internet connections problem this morning.
Hope they fixed it for good this time.

Had to return my brand new Viking to the shop as the needle function froze. :( Everything was working fine, until the thread jammed and the monitor shows 'overload'. Cleaned out the bobbin area as instructed, got everything else to work on the menu, but it won't sew. She's a certified Viking repair person, but to be sure I get the best service, she's not taking chances and sending it to the head Viking mechanic all the way in Charlotte :(
But, I still have my Singer Quantum for standby... and if that failed.. the Pfaff :(
Don't seem to have any luck with machines except for that old Pfaff Hobbymatic.

Now Judy, when I told Kel you had Shepherd's Pie, he wants to know how fast can we get to your place! I don't think you'll have leftovers if we're there! Hey, how about meat loaf tonight?
If you found something you think I'd like for the Christmas swap... get some for me will you? I'll gladly reimburse you. Nothing at all around here.. but I'll try to come up with something before deadline!

So, spill the beans Cindy. What did you learn about Dave?
Seems like poor Steve is very sincere about you, but you got to be patient with all his trials. You know a good man is hard to find ;)

It was certainly a busy day for me and today will be busier still. Trying to finish ALL the towels and this weekend, hopefully get them out in envelopes and mail them by Monday! Ambitious? More like more swaps waiting for me :D

Marion, how's your mum doing? Is her surgery still on?

Crissy, you must be so proud of your dad. Awesome!!! I have been praying for your mum, just failed to post it up there.

Hi Audrey! Through with the straps yet? Plenty of time....

LK enjoy your company!

Phyllis, if you're lurking, wishing you a great RU!

Waving to Barb~~~ Still got plans to get that sink base.

Trisha, hope you're okay. Miss your postings!

If you remember this Louis Armstrong (Satchmo) song, you're as old as me...

I see trees of green........ some roses too
I see em bloom..... for me and for you
And I think to myself.... what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin......i love you.

I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
Theyll learn much more.....than Ill never know
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin...I ....love....you.

I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than Ill never know
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself .......what a wonderful world.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Lots on the agenda today. That's what happens when you are away for a week. Just took a lunch break. I'm cleaning my house and then I need to reorganize the half of the garage that stores the plants for the winter. I need to get the plants in there as well as a new ATV we are getting.

Hugs to all!!
Juanita

P.S. Jaye or someone that knows about tropicals tell me what this is. Is it a ginger? I took this at Brookgreen Gardens last week. It smelled divine!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm not the one who's forgetting how to do my job, it's everyone else! LOL!!

An appt with his tax lady this time of year on a Sunday?????
Yes, what did you learn about Dave????? LOL

Thanks for the prayers for my mom. There's a prayer thread for her that's been open for awhile, I'll have to post the link...

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, Jaye sorry but I can't talk about that here ^_^

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

But I will tell ya all this...........things are heating up between Dave and I, lol. Just need to get him to ask for that second date to see if what I heard it true.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye I love that song....

Not much going on around here...cold and foggy this morning but the sun is finally starting to break through...supposed to hit 65* today. Have some cleaning I need to do and some typing that has to get done and e-mailed before tonight's Club Board Meeting (Bored Meeting is more like it).

Thankfully I haven't come down with whatever Bill had...just a little sniff and sneeze occasionally...not a bundle of energy....and a case of the Don't Wanna's...(a lot to do and I don't wanna).

So for now I need to get another cup of coffee and see if I can get going.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Here's the link.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Reorganize..... when I think of that word, it makes me shudder!! Especially when it comes to find space to overwinter the plants. I shouldn't worry right? As Kel had closed in the porch and converted it into a greenhouse, but we got these kitties that call it home! And a blind one that will have to adjust to the pots...

Good luck Juanita. Those flowers are some kind of ginger.. either a pinecone, costa but it looks more like a butterfly. Do the stems spiral? If it does, it's a costal. If straight, a pinecone. If about 4ft. tall, spear shaped leaves, then it's a butterfly.
Ginger flowers bloom individually from bracts. Yes, the smell is divine. If you want to try, next spring, I'll send you some butterfly rhizomes.

Trisha so, you're the healthy one in your family and must bear the miseries of the rest! Seems to me, you need your own vacation... away from it all!
By the way, have you done any sculpting lately? Love your work!
I'd love to be more active in church, but somehow I haven't been called. Maybe Lord has better plans ;)

Crissy, I got it up there, thanks! And Herbie is a great prayer warrior ;)
I've dmailed him when I need prayers.
Yeah, I was wondering a bright intelligent woman like you having a mental block on something you do everyday for the past 10 years? Ok... it's not you then.. big relief.

Cindy, Cindy, Cindy.... do we see a pair of horns emerging? Lolol!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, could be Jaye ^_^

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Preparing for winter with the plants? It is 90+ and very humid here today after a few days of nice cool weather. Go figure.

Jaye, no Mom is still hospitalized and we learned it is e-coli. Everyone has it in the system but when it flairs it is a nasty beasty!! The hospital did "goof" and infiltrated her arm and that is creating a problem. Red, swollen and they have her on coumadin trying to prevent blood clots. A vicious cycle at this point. She might, just maybe be released this weekend. Only time will tell.

I am dragging today!! Had 2 days I have had to be out doing errands and appointments and I hate that. I just want to stay home and do "my" thing. Sloppy clothes, no makeup and just work at my own pace. Well at least I don't see the dentist for another 6 months.

Need to check some other threads so will check back later.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow Maid M... at least they discovered it while she's still in the hospital. Good Lord watching over her.
Taking a break here and feeling the pain emanating from my left shoulder. Singer's made taller, and I'm hunching my shoulders bad, instead of relaxing them. At least I have something to sew with.
Hope you and Cindy don't mind towels not matching your kitchen decor :( Promise next year, I'll be more prepared.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

If you haven't had your spiritual uplift today, this should do it.

Through the eyes of a child:

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.
Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.
Then God made the world.
He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden......Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.
Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.
Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.
One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.
After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.
Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.
Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.
One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.
After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.
After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.
There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.
After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')
During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.
Jesus also had twelve opossums.
The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.
Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.
But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.
Anyway, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum.. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Jaye, as of right now i don't have my own kitchen so whatever you make, I will love it!!!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Jaye, that Children's Bible is priceless!. Out of the mouths of babes off times comes gems. This is one gem I'll print off to send to some friends. Thanks so much for posting it. Love that book of Revolution!! Satchmo will always be rmembered, I can hear him singing that now.

Our weather has cooled down so I have to get out and "try" and get rid of more weeds. Got an iron gate to use as a trellis that I want to grow sweet peas on , but weeds have to go first. Would appreciate a little help, but all I hear is what has to be done but never does.

Sounds like Steve may be making excuses, I don't know anyone who sees their tax lady on Sundays either.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yea that's what I'm thinking too. He said that weekends are the only time she is available. Why do ya all think I'm after Dave, hee hee. Just got an email from Dave offering to come split the fire wood for me. I just don't feel right having him come and do that. We just met and haven't had a second date yet and that is what I told him. Let's see what his response will be. Maybe the second date will be happening ^_^.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Jaye. I thought it was some kind of a ginger. Don't remember what the stem looked like. I knew you would know. :0)

Marion I hope your Mom feels better soon. That can be a nasty business.

Hugs to everyone!
Juanita

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone! Just skimming through real quick to say hello!
Judy, I love talking to you last night. Someday we will meet for that hug!
Todd's Sister is still here, they will be leaving about noon tomorrow. We have had a great visit. So I will go back when I can, and read all the post! Hope everyone is doing well.
Good night
LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Cindy! I got your towel planned with what I have at hand. I just hope you'd like it.
You're truly a gem you know. It's not any man that's worthy of you. He got to be one of good virtues and very generous. Don't settle for less.

Pegi, I'm glad you like it. I can't stop laughing reading it! Yeah, what's wise about living with 'porcupines' and to get barfed up by a whale??
No fall veges for us this time. Would love to start an asparagus bed.
Wonder if BJ's up to that?

Judy, I hope your hunt's a success. So.. what did the kids cook today, or did you have your kitchen back.
We had old fashion pot roast and it's been a long time since I cooked that.

Thanks LK, for the thumbs up ;)

I'll say good night too. Sleep well my sistahs.

What you all doing today?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning Ladies,

I worked outside most of the day yesterday. Got some wood split and flower garden are rototillered. In one part of the garden is some Belladonna Lilies (Naked Ladies) that have not be dug up and divided in years. So I dug them up, here is the pile of them. I told mom we should take them to the local flea market and sell them I bet we would end up with mega $$$$$.

I don't know about these men I swear!!! Dave and I sent emails back and forth most of the day yesterday and I threw so many hints at him for the second date but all I got was an offer to split the fire wood. Geeze!!! they can be so dense sometimes.

Morning everyone. Just another quick hello.
Have you seen the 2009 photo contest here on Daves. It is now open for your favorite pics!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1045955/

Cindy, some guys just don't get the "hints" until it is smacked upside thier head! LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

A quick hello...
ran a lot of errands this morning and still got lots to do!
So I hope you all are not as busy as me today... maybe Susan :D
Have a lovely day my sistahs, will catch up later!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

This is what I have been working on for the last few weeks. It was full of waist high weeds. I'm going to be putting in daffs, and all of my plants from out back that I had to plant in a hurry last spring before I went to Oregon. LOL, you can see the utility trailer is over flowing with the weeds. Need to make a trip to the dump.

Thumbnail by purpbutfly
(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Here is another, looking from opposite direction. You can see the Iris garden that is where I started.

Thumbnail by purpbutfly
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Bless you Cindy - that will look spectacular next spring or do plants grow all year there? We are almost at peak color with our leaves this week. Hope to get out and get pictures this week...

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm in the process of pulling out weeds in my front flower bed. The ground is so hard that I'm letting it soak a while before getting back to it. Don't know how the rose bushes survive in all this. Decided to put the sweet peas on iron gate in the same bed. I have to do a lot of work today since the trash man comes tomorrow to pick up the green waste barrels. If DH would get his junk out it would be easier to work. Bad habit of letting things pile up, well I am guilty of that too. This clay soil is as hard as a brick. Can only water before 10 AM and after 4 PM.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well ladies, I have been working outside since 8:45 and I am happy to say all the junk under my carport is now history. Oh what a good feeling!!!! The concrete has been power washed and we can actually put 3 cars in there now--if we had 3 cars. Assembled some things I have been putting off for a while and cleaned up pots to store and some to plant pansies and petunias in this weekend. Now as soon as I cool down, I am headed to the shower.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Barb,
In the past it was full of flowers all year round. But mom gettig older and not being able to stand the heat and getting down on her knees let it go. So I'm in the process of redoing it. Hope to have color all year round come next spring, summer and fall.
Need to have Steve make me some garden art to put in there. He is a welder and likes making things with horseshoes.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sound really nice Cindy.
