Morning all!
Ready for the muffins Smiley!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

what's your flavor Lady?? Son supervises a Timmy Ho's - brought a bunch to us on his way home.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

no one up? I'll be back at lunchtime. must be nice outside!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Late start today....Good Morning Lynn, Julie....hope you enjoyed your coffee and muffins. Have a great day.

Is that also a Strelitzia, Dave, or different genus?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Hi Smiley! Are you still there?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

yes'm, I'm still here.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning Venice, How are you all today?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning Moon.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Hello to the early gang! Muffins!!! What kind?

I am still trying to ID those hosta pods Trina gave me. But who needs 60-70 of any type of hostas?!!!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

All different kinds of muffins, Venice.

I'm getting your box ready as we speak. The turtleheads are kind of tall, I picked some of the shortest ones I could find and gently tried to bend them to fit in the box. You'll see...

I picked the cranberry muffin because I LOVE cranberries.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Plant a couple seeds from each pod, Venice, we will try to give them names when they start growing, if Trina doesn't have a name for the various ones she sent you.

Another day another red blue and green electric dollar, eh Julie?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, sorry I haven't looked at your seeds very much just because I don't have to look up any of their info. Such a relief that you put any info I would need on them.

JJ, that little columbine has 3 green leaves. I am happy because I think it might survive!

I can't remember the kinds of daylillies you gave me. There were 4 of one color and 2 of another color plus the one that was givein to you. Do you remember what colors they were?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, I know you gave me some purple basil as I remember. I can't wait to see them.

Is it true that hosta seeds aren't true to the mother? But then I also read that if they are polinated well, that isn't a problem. Do any of you have hostas?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Venice, I tried to make it as easy as possible...who needs to stress over seeds?....grin This way you have the name, color, size and bloomtime....you shouldn't have to do anything more than plug the info into your plant design and start the seeds when ready...

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Aloha kakahiaka Dave! Is the top part of the bottom part of that tree? If possible, can we see more of what is at the top?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hey Venice here is a hosta ID site for your reference file http://www.hostaamour.com/pb/wp_203b1ef5.html?0.07613366689258005

I have a few hosta out there, most from an un-named "grab bag" I have Bressingham blue and cadet blue, patriot and loyalist, Francis Harriet and a couple others I haven't IDed yet.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, I was curious to know what your hostas looked like. I couldn't find Francis Harriet in any hosta library. Is that an old or unique hosta?

Smiley, unfortunately, I do not know what a Timmy Ho's is!!! I think I really have been missing something!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the reminder, Moon. I forgot to go online and check the bank account!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Tim Horton's, Venice. Do you have them there?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I have never heard of it!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sorry, Venice, not Frances harriet.....Francee.....I think I have Monday morning brain sludge....grin

Welcome Smiley....hope the grubbers have behaved themselves and not tried to skeef any more funds..

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I try to take some pictures today if the rain stops....we got 3 or 4 inches yesterday....ground makes a squishing noise when you walk....hope it drowns the darn moles....grin

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ah! ah! ah! So much rain. And moles on top of that!

I found a Francee but not a Francee Harriet.

I was going to look up how much rain you get in a year because it sure must be a lot!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Inches of rainfall per year

IN 39 NY 39 LA 60!!! HI only 23!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Our average rainfall is about 65-66 inches per year. We are a bit above the state average of 60 inches.

The hosta is Francee. Sorry for the confusion.

Moon, you are by the river, a whole bunch or lakes, and pretty close to the gulf. Are you affected by floods? I can see why you are so soggy there!

I tried using soy milk instead of regular milk to clean green plants inside. Does well for dust. But the plants I bought still have water or chemical spots on them. I wonder what I can use to clean that off. If they weren't plants, I could use vinegar.

Can I use vinegar on plant leaves?? Or another suggestion?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I didn't realize you had so much rain down there, Moon.

Of course, I didn't realize I was in zone 6. Always thought I was in zone 5.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi all,
Venice the bunch of 4 should be the tall yellow lemon lily, the 2 are red I think they are called pardon me, but not for sure, and the one given to me is suppose to be a purple and yellow but I have never seen it so no clue. The lady put them in a bag left them in driveway.

Got to go back to work for awhile.
Here is the red one

The yellow one.
Venice, that columbine is pretty tough I dug some up for someone and put it in a foil pan with a little dirt , they didn't come get it and its still alive.

Off to work. Have good day everyone.

Yeah the sun is shining

JJ, thanks for ID'ing the daylillies you gave me. You probably told me at one time and I know you had the marked. I didn't write it down but now I have it.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

JJs, how did your computer turn out? I know you're not there, answer later please. Unless I missed it on the other thread...

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

No problem venice and if the columbine don't make it don't worry will have plenty in the spring.

Later

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Directions for many plants say full sun.

One side of my garden is in shade until early afternoon then it gets the hot southern sun until it goes down. It seems like anything I plant there, the sun is too hot for them. Daylily blooms only last one day and everything else starts to wilt but perks up by morning. I think of this area as "full sun."

When a plant requires full sun, how can I tell if it really needs FULL sun like I have?

Or what plants need this type of full sun I have?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I wish I knew more, Venice. My front bed is facing south also. That's where I have my lilac, some turtleheads and daylilies. If it's really hot, the turtlehead leaves turn over, but as you say, they perk up.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Smiley, do the blossoms of your daylillies drop off after one day when they bloom?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

they may not drop off, but they die. do yours drop right off? are they withering or still fresh looking?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

After blooming, the next day they are withered

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

yep, me too. I guess that's why they call them daylilies.
