Evening ladies.
It was a beautiful day. Good church services tho' half the congregation stayed home on acct. of whatever's going around. Looking forward to the first homecoming with this church next week. Offered to bring along plenty of fried chicken wings!
We went to an art show, and I'm glad we don't have the thousands to spend on a De Kind piece of 3 dimensional art! Intentionally went on the last day of show, as we know prices will be knocked down considerably. Kel's a fan of outsider artist, Currie Williams aka Apple Lady and he succeeded in getting a piece of her work for $50, 60% off the original! Her works are sold at galleries too, and I'm glad she shows them yearly @ this art show.
Barb, thank you for the piece of jewel! Kel will build me a cutting table with a kitchen sink base unit. Why we never thought of this fantastic idea before!!! You know that will be a big relief on my back! Thank you so much for sharing this.
Crissy, your convention must have went well. Any pictures to share?
Trisha, you need to let Bill cook more often for you. Anyway... I do hope he'd get to feel better. Maybe you can teach him how to fix a good pot of chicken soup?
How are Laura and Sean? Is Lisa doing any better?
Linda, you are so right.. this is an amazing group of ladies. You can feel genuine compensation here. I'm so glad Lord gives you ways to cope. Just remember you're never alone as long as we're here.
LK, Susan... check this out.

Pegi, don't you just love the Victorian bench she painted?
Yes, she's an awesome artist!
Good night!
That accu cutter looks sorta like my tile cutter lol
Expensive item tho...........
Well, it's past my bedtime (bowled tonight, and I'm tired.........), so I bid you a fond adieu!
~Susan~
Jaye I have a couple of old kitchen counters/cabinets that I use. One is in the pottery studio and I use it to condition clay. Nice cabinet underneath to store all the clay in. The other one is in the shipping/office room. Just the right height for packing up boxes when I had an online business. That piece didn't have doors on the bottom, so my dearly departed Grandmother (the sewing whiz in our family) made a curtain to hide all the supplies behind. I actually saved some of the old countertops from my kitchen redo and I sit them up on saw horses or whatever for more workspace sometimes. I never get rid of any sturdily built wooden things. They always come in handy somehow.
Funny thing. About 2 weeks before we went on vacation we were coming home from someones house. Down this old country road. I see this unfinished queen size headboard for a bed sitting by a fence for "FREE". Looked like maybe it was someone's school shop project. Anyway, it is really nice. I made Bob go back and get it for me. I have no idea what I am going to do with it. Something outside I think. Will paint it this winter and see what comes to mind.
Then a few days later I'm working in one of the gated communities I serve and I see a set of 3 big unfinished wooden "crates" out for the trash. So I stopped and loaded them in my truck. I have an idea for one of them so I'll take pics when I get it finished. Rich people throw out the best "stuff". :0)
Oh well, raining at the beach today. Last day and I am ready to go home now.
Have a great day all!
Juanita
Morning everyone! Jaye, thanks for the link on the cutter! But it looks like they waste a lot of fabric? But boy do they cut nice, saves a lot of time, with the rotary cutter!
Coffee is on! Help yourself. I will off most of the day, doing last minute dusting and stuff. Todd's Sister will be here tomorrow afternoon! Coming from Maryland! They left the house last month driving from Maryland, to see Mount Rushmoore, and all around to California, to Texas, then Florida, then back home! That is a lot of driving! So I won't be on much for the next few days!
Later
LK
Sorry to be missing..
The walk went well! I raised $215 for JDRF with the help of Jaye and Marion and some other friends and family. We had about 75 people walking with Jordyn's Jammers. It was a fun day and the weather was perfect. Seems like it has been every year I've walked in this and this year was the 5th one. We had purple shirts and when I get a picture of the group, I'll post it.
Kevin (DS) flew in from Florida to walk with his family for his favorite niece and so we had an impromptu cookout yesterday. The weather cooperated again and we were able to eat outside. It was very pleasant while the sun was shining, but kind of chilly when the clouds covered it on occasion.
Having trouble with my phone. People are saying I keep breaking up. Shouldn't be having this problem with a month old phone!!
Love you all!!
Cookie
Bon, I love gowing through the neighbor hood, and see what everyone is throwing out! One mans trash, is another mans treasure!
Years ago, I worked in a Swiss Colony, and the store next door was a stuffed animal toy store, and they got notice that all the animals they had in the store were factory seconds, and they threw them all in the dumpster! You should have seen all of us in the dumspter getting huge garbage bags full of animals. I took them home, washed them in the washing machine, and took them to the childrens hospital, and made a bunch of sick kids very happy!
Ah what a morning we are having. Rain pouring down and some lazy ducks swimming leisurely along the edge of the lake as if they are in a paradise. I guess to them it is!!
Thanks for the coffee LK. Oh, BTW I saw the accu cutter demo and it doesn't waste as much as you might think or the person doing the demo has learned how to utilize her fabric very well. I also had that thought at first.
Well things to do today so I guess I had better get started.
Hello!! Back at work from the conference, wanted to post on the thread here but computer got real slow at home and Dave came home from work early so I never did it. Conference went off without a hitch! I had veteran coordinators say they haven't had this conference this good in 5+ years, and my boss kept telling them that I did it all by myself, he didn't help me at all. Woo Hoo!!
Where's Cindy?? I've been reading about her dates. Be careful girl, either they will both show up at your bowling at the same time or they both have the same favorite fishing spot. Murphy's Law.
I went on myspace to check on something on Friday evening, there are two more emails from my wonderful ex-boyfriend, subject line is, "I'm Not Stalking You, I..." then I can't read anymore and I haven't read them, thinking about doing it with my boss behind me, that way he knows whats going on. And I never said he was stalking me, he never did before why would he now when I'm 2000 miles away?? Makes it nearly impossible.
I hope everyone is doing good, probably won't have time to catch up on the threads, I'm almost two threads behind! Wow!! LOL I'll see ya'll later, got to unpack my conference crap :)
Congrats Crissy on a job well done.
Good Morning Ladies,
Back from camping, bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, lol. Saturday morning the wind blew so hard there were white caps on the lake we did not even leave camp. That night about 9:30 it started raining. Then around 11 it started SNOWING!!!!! We stayed in bed until about 10:30 Sunday morning it was just too cold to get up. About 1:00 we started packing up camp and it stated snowind again and HARD!!! When left and just spent the rest of the day checking out other areas to camp for next year. Then we stopped at a place called Icehouse an old log cabin resturant, bar and store. They had the best hamburgers and fries. Finally came home about 7:30 last night.
LOL, Crissy I have been thinking the same thing about the guys both showing up while I'm bowling. But I don't think that will happen, Dave plays darts on Tuesdays and Steve always asks me if I want him to come up. As for fishing spots Dave prefers rivers while Steve prefers lakes and up in the mountains. We are going to be making a day trip up Hwy 50 to Apple Hill. Umm fresh baked apple pies and other fruits and veggies.
I was just thinking about Apple Hill yesterday while I was shopping in Wal Mart. I miss Apple Hill! Sounds like a rough time with snow and all but it made you relax LOL! It's way way too early in the season for snow!!
Crissy, do you know where Icehouse is? We were up about 6000 elevation, it snowed at Kingvale, Saturday also. It's going to be in the high 70's all week then the weekend will be in the 80's going to be outside getting bulbs in ground.
TTYL
I've never been to Ice House. Being in Modesto my grandfather always fished and I always went to Lake McClure, Lake Don Pedro, and X Checker Dam. I used to go to Modesto Reservoir once in a while and Turlock Lake once in a while too.
Never heard of any of those places. Must all be in the valley? Gotta get busy TTYL
There in the foothills East of Modesto, Turlock, and Merced, about half way to Yosemite.
AW I've never been over that way. Maybe next summer. Steve has lots of plans for out future, lol. So it seems he is serious about me. Got an email from Dave asking it i caught any fish, and another email from a guy named Mike that lives in Oroville Washington, saying "Hi how are you, my lady" lol we've only exchanged 3 or 4 emails. He is going to be down here on Nov 5th and wants to go for a ride on his scooter. I'm not too sure about him.
When I was single and having fun on the websites I told a guy who I didn't want to see, "{his name}, I really don't want to break your heart, but I'm going to break your heart..." LOL I was mean.
OOOOhhh, Well, I have no intentions of seeing this Mike guy. So I think when I get the next email from him I'm going to give him that line, lol. I need a second date with Dave to see what I'm going to do about him. Hmm wonder how long I can date two guys without getting caught? I've done that before, hee, hee. i was seeing 4 guys all at the same time never got caught either.
Hello ladies!
'net service been out! Talk about being lost when you can go online.
LK, I bet you'll have more good time with your SIL. She's there to visit you, not your home! Relax!
Juanita, I know we'll take that route for my cutting table. He has some 'leftovers' when he remodeled this kitchen, but he's using them for himself. He's still beating his head why he didn't think about that when I complained of my back aching. Thanks Barb.
No rich community here, but once in a while, we go dumpster diving at scrap yards. That's where we found 6 full french doors at $20 each.
By the way.... hope you have a real relaxing vacation.
Applause, applause, applause!!! Crissy!!! We know our Crissy will be a success! Now, tell your boss, a real raise is proof of his appreciation ;)
WB Cindy! Snuggled enough? So you're already planning next year's camping. Sounds serious. If you're not too sure about Mike, follow your guts.
Wonderful you got that much Cookie! I bet if you had more time to prepare something for Kevin, it would be one of your famous briskets.
Next year, I hope Jordyn's Jammers collect more. A very wonderful cause, and I told my sister in France about it. She says, there is no such event there. Tell Jordyn she's lucky to be in the USA where we treat diabetes with much gravity.
Maid M.. it's been raining buckets here. One more day, and I can assure you that we'd cut down that old pine tree and make a pirogue out of it!!!!
Donna, I do hope you have a fantastic weekend.
Susan.... head intact still?
Yes Jaye, we are also planning a camping trip for the end of this month. Only this time we are taking my mom's motorhome and going down instead of up. Wonder if I'll be able to go this without mom wanting to go, hmmm?????
LOL Jaye, you might see me paddling by first!! There is suppose to be more behind this one.
Boy, I am so grateful Barb told us about the cabinet idea (well maybe not as brain is actually working overtime) for a cutting table. I think I have designed one in my head that might serve dual purpose in the 'dungeon". Need to get it on paper first then talk to my DIL's brother who does really nice woodwork. Only need him for the top--well him or my son. Depends on has the time first. Barb, if you see smoke from the south it is just me!!!
Talked to Mom, still weak but gaining some strength back. Infection seems to be clearing but not getting out any time soon. That is just fine with me as I have a feeling her eating habits are somewhat to blame for part of the lack of energy. Can't get away with not eating in the hospital.
Well, need to go rotate laundry, think what I am fixing for dinner and ..........well whatever it is I do.
LOL Cindy I have no patience with men, if it's that hard getting Dave to talk he's probably not a conversationalist and probably just likes to sit at home and do nothing. I was with one of them for 3 years, great great guy but dang I got Bored! If it were me I'd just blow Dave off. I bet that if you never email him again, he won't email you either. Usually if one of the party members has a bad date the other one did too. Plus, if you're not interested in him now you won't be later, the first impression means everything. Don't give him the wrong impression when you're not interested in the first place.
I ended up dating 3 guys at the same time and they all 3 had the same name! Completely accidental and it was hilarious, had them numbered according to who I liked better. You can use that line, it worked for me. Of course he's going to come back with questions, or sometimes they get mad and say something really stupid that they think is smart and gets even with you LOL!
Got a sweet note and a check from Kathy (Jordankittyjo) for the walk today. It's a little late, but I'm sure they won't turn it down!
Thank you Sissy for the donation. Jordyn and I surely appreciate it. I talked with Lisa a little while ago and she added up the amount of participants walking for Jordyn. Are you ready???? There were 104 of us! How's that for support?
Fantastic Cookie!!!
Wow!! That's awesome!
Did I mention that my violent ex-boyfriend sent me another email on Myspace? Well I read it and here's what it says,
"Don't worry, im not stalking you! Just thought it would be ok to say hi after
about 10 years. I seen your pro browsing sometime back and has taken
me this long to say something.
I have done alot of things in my life that im not proud of Christine and
some of that i have done to you. I have been sober for a little over 17 months
now and have been getting to ppl that i have wronged! I know the things that
i have done to you can never be forgotten, and im sorry for that and all that
i have done to you and your family.
I really do wish you all the best that life has to offer and that you can find
it to forgive at some point. I hope thing are and will keep going good for you
and your family, i mean that! No need to get back to me, not that you would ha ha.
Please take care and have a great day........................Scott"
Sounds very non-threatening but I'm not responding, not starting that, especially being married and all.
What would you all do?
Well never mind on the question, I have my mom on the phone and read it to her, she reminded me this is exactly what he does when he's having an 'up' moment. You would never believe how many times he abused me and the cats, then turned around and apologized for it, then a while later, sometimes days, sometimes weeks, sometimes months, I'm not responding so don't worry about it.
Sounds like he has been in a serious AA program...I think I would tell him that I am very glad that he is getting the help he needs, hope he has a great life but you do not wish to have further contact. Had to do that with a drug addict friend of ours once....have always wondered what happened to him but I wasn't going to have him around my kids.
Wonderful indeed Cookie! Bet Jordyn's beyond disbelief! All that love going around her. ^_^
Cindy, I'm sure your mum is wise enough to leave you two alone. If not, you can always suggest she flies to meet you both at the final destination ;)
Crissy, Trisha gave you a wise advice.
s hard to trust someone again who had abused you that bad. Yah, if you don't say nothing, he'd get the message ;)
He's Manic Depressant and Paranoid Schizophrenic, not abusive because of alcohol. I do feel bad for him because anyone with either one of these horrible diseases never asked for them, but there's a way to treat it also. He never drank and ounce when we were together, that came sometime after we broke up. I never knew he drank at all.
That was my ex's nephew's illness, Crissy. He went through 3 marriages, abandoned his kids and was treated in a mental ward. Brilliant man, but as long as he avoid his meds, he can't function.
He's 55 now, in control of his illness with meds and doing good. Unfortunately, what he did in the past had alienated him from the family.
My ex and his mum are the only ones that acknowledge his illness.
He's so grateful to his uncle, that when my ex had to undergo surgery in Houston, he's the one that accompanied him and helped took care of his post surgery.
I'll explain a little. I clicked on his picture to see if I could see his tattoo on his bicep at the end of Sept and his profile was private. It's not private anymore and if I respond to his email we have an open connection. Lucky for me I lived with him 3 years and know his characteristics. There's a couple of big red flags here;
1. He hasn't mentioned the fact that I'm married, my wedding pic is on my profile. If he was truly not trying to get under my skin he would say something normal, like "Hey I notice you got married!" or something along those lines.
2. His profile is not set to private anymore, a good possibility he's hoping I'll check it out and "realize" he's not that bad of a person.
3. Putting "You don't have to respond" or whatever he said in the email, makes the receiving person want to respond because they 'understand' what you went through, when in fact they don't care, they just want to back because you are their soul mate, so they think.
This is the normal case scenario of a true abuser:
Being nice in an email lures me into wanting to look at his profile. I look at his profile, get to thinking that he's a changed man, so I break down and email him. Emails turn into phone calls, which turn into them getting all kinds of pertinent information (husband's name, addy, phone number, place of employment (I think he would run from that lol), etc. CA law doesn't protect the need to be protected very much at all, you have to have proof of everything and it takes an act of congress to protect yourself. By the time CA realizes you need to be protected, you're dead.
Back in the day I would have but since he made me a very strong person with a lot of self esteem I'm not going to do that.
Sorry this is so long ^_^
Hey Ladies,
Remember way back when I showed you a picture of Doug on his motorcycle? Well he has joined another dating site that I'm on and they matched us, lol. So I checked it out. OMG!!! He is not that good looking, and very skinny yuck!! I like men with a little meat on their bones. Boy am I glad I didn't ever meet him ^_^. When Steve and I went out the first time he told me he was glad that Doug and Larry had both ignored me, otherwise he would not have met me. Friday night when he picked me up he hugged me and said "Thank you" I said for what he says "This weekend, and if I keep telling you that all weekend long just know that I mean it" he really needed the get away time. And all weekend he kept telling me how good it felt to just hold me. Do you think maybe he might falling in love?????
Jaye that is so sad, I'm so sorry. You can't put yourself in harms way when this person used to be on a time bomb and is unpredictable, it's just unsafe. My boyfriend in high school's father was Paranoid Schizophrenic and he never showed any signs of it whatsoever, just a very kind, gentle man.
I would love to be able to write back and talk about my marriage and Tiga and everything, Tiga came around when I was with him and he's using that as a connection, but there's no way, especially since he hasn't had the respect to even acknowledge the fact I'm married. If it had been any other ex-boyfriend they would have mentioned my marriage and how are you doing and the norm, not this "I've been sober for 17 months now." I want to just say, "So?? Being sober doesn't take away the fact that you need medication."
I can go on and on and I hope I haven't offended anyone by talking about it, I certainly don't mean to.
Cindy don't read anything me and Jaye are talking about, it will scare you away LOL!! He could be falling in love, the question is, Are You Falling In Love???
You got a kind heart Crissy. If you were to respond, he might think you've never let go of him totally. Don't like reading that he has not acknowledged your marriage. Seems he's clinging on to hope.
I'd just ignore him and I bet if he didn't hear from you, he'll get the message!
Oh my Cindy.. wedding bells soon?
Crissyr, ignore the old boyfriend! If he needs to make amends that's fine, but no one said you have to reply. Sounded so much like an alcoholic when you first mentioned it, and they are supposed to make amends to all they have hurt. You are happy now and that's all that matters. Sorry, sounds like I'm on a soap box now.
Does AA require that Pegi?
crisy, With more information I agree, you should just ignore this guy...
I knew when I posted I didn't give you enough information to make a judgement, then I forgot to edit my post including more info LOL
Go Vikings Go!!!
