Alright, sis... we know you'll be on your honeymoon with Michael :D

Susan, I know you have a headache free day at work! Will be sending positive energy your way! A good night's sleep makes the world so much brighter the next day!
Guess next year, I'll be having daturas again, thanks to you Susan. Will be looking for Blackcurrant too. Yes they're pretty and much easier to grow than brugs.

Dave's not bad looking, Cindy!

Well, I'm off sewing .....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, have a perfect margarita, they are so good from there!
You make sure you tell Dave, we are all watching out for you, so no funny stuff! Enjoy your date with him!
LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Don't want to scare the man off LK. It's enough we scare Cindy with our concerns!!! ROFL!!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

You are too funny. Besides Dave doesn't scare that easy. We kept having problems meeting and I told him if he just wanted to forget it that it was fine with me. He said I wasn't getting off that easy, I had commited to seeing him so he said he would make sure that we do meet, lol.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Jaye - actually yes, a headache free day! A few silly "laugh out loud at people's silliness" times, but otherwise it was a great day!

I told Bob that tonight, after choir practice, we're not sticking around to chat for another 1/2 hour, that I want to go straight to bed LOL

I got a call last night from one of the UCW ladies (an elder). Last Sat was the church's Fall Supper, and we were in Waterton, so missed it.
I did bake 4 pies, bought 10 doz buns, and 4 litres of pickles, though.........
She told me there are 2 bags of leftover turkey for Bob & I, in the freezer at the church! ^_^ yummmmmy. She said she thought I might like some pre-cooked food for supper, after camping out. hahahaha I told her we'd just had weiners and beans for supper! Turkey will go down really well!! I think I have a tin of cranberry sauce, too............

again - no time to read and I'm headachy anyway.

Been at Duke Hospital all day with M&D. Dad was scheduled for colonoscopy. his last one. they found two more polyps, one sliced off and one burned, both now to pathology for testing. made sure they got take out food for tonight (Bullock's - YUM!) and groceries for soft food for a day or two. He fell asleep in the Suburban on the way home.

hadn't been home ten minutes when Randall came up to greet me and started out towards getting the mail, He suddenly cursed at me, went out fast. I heard him yell across our yards "are you OK?" he'd seen our over 70 neighbor lifting a riding mower when it went back over on him and knock him off his feet hard. I figured he wouldn't be cursing me, couldn't see anything but him charging across as fast as I've seen that fat boy move. I followed, figured my first aid training from the security job would help.

it did. Don was insisting he's ok, but his eyebrow was split wide open most of its length and there was a contusion swelling like crazy, making his eye look both closed and 3 times its size - look like someone gave him a shiner! I kept saying "well, you're going to need stitches hun," and, "you need to apply pressure to stop the bleeding." he wouldn't let Mae or I touch him, but Mae confided she was hopeless at anything bloody. he was feeling sheepish. I finally convinced May to get him a hand mirror so he could see himself. Thus she convinced him to go to urgent care with us, but he insisted she drive. she really didn't want to, but at least he willingly went. she didn't even know where there was an urgent care. LOL with all my mystery infections, we know where they ALL are!

show's over. with my day, Randall says let's go use our Cici's coupons! that soundsabout right. I'm so bushed. why should sitting in a hospital clinic all day wear me out? duh.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Bonnie o my gosh.. I couldnt imagine going through that.. You guys sure are great neighbors. Good for you taking care of M&D and teh neighbor too.. You deserve a rest..

Susan if you get an extra pod of seeds I would love to have a soem seeds..

Cindy have fun tonight but not too much.. lol

Just been busy today.. I mowed the yard and spread Hedge Apples around the outer perimeter of the house. Cleaned up teh flower beds, organized the house and just ran in circles all day.. lol

My excitement was a package arriving today from an old plant supplier. I got 10 red japenese maples one which I already sold to the neighbor.. Now just have to move a few more and get some things moving here. Wish I had a way for some pictures of them they sure are pretty..

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, Sean want to try Middle Eastern next time; Ethiopian sounds interesting too, let me know what you think. I’ll try just about anything once; I only have a couple of rules about food that I won’t break. But, goat was something I really wanted to try. It kept on coming up in my reading and on TV.

I’m tired of having a runny nose, sore throat, and being tired and cold. I wish this would pass. DH has it even worse than I do.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Luara so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Max and I went through that a few weeks ago and it felt like it was never going to go away.. I finally resorted to a bit of firewater to get rid of the throat ick.. It was bad when a hangover fe better than being sick but it did the trick.. lol Just relax whever you can iit will pass soon I hope..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

LadyB - I certainly have some seeds, so as soon as I can, I'll send them!
I may have mixed the Inoxia & Metal, so don't know if you'll get Ballerina Metel(yellow/white or purple/white with multiple "skirts"), or Inoxia (single, pure white, large)

Laura - take care of your cold, please!
~Susan~

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Well Ladies,
LOL what can I say..........margarita was yummy, appetizers were good. Dave hmmmmmmmmmm, no sparks at all. He didn't even get up from the bar and pull a chair out for me. I had to start the conversation, there were lots of quite moments. Nothing to talk about at all. Whole date lasted an hour. He walked me back to my car hugged me and said he would email me.

Steve has to work tomorrow so our camping trip will be late getting started. I told him we'll get there just in time to put up the tent and go to bed. I have to baby sit granddaughter she has got strep throat again. They did a throat culture Monday and just called my daughter thie afternoon. And she had sent her to school today so SIL had to go pick her up.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, hadn't been home from the date maybe 20 minutes and Dave sent me an email. Wants to go fishing!!!

Good Day!

OMG, Jaye and all, I've been chosen to sit on a trial!

I have mixed emotion about this, one, feeling quite the honor, but also very nervous.
I've been just praying that I may listen to both sides well and help make the right decision.

...So I don't how long this will take suppose to be only a day.

Have a good day everyone...

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning Ladies,

LOL, received another email from Dave he wants to take me to his favorite fishing spot. Hmm seems I made a good impression on him. I guess I'll give him another chance..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
If it's Captain Crunch served, then Ahoy Mate! We'll have Captain Crunch for breakfast!! Thankee Donna.
(So, tomorrow it will be instant oatmeal? I love maple syrup flavor)

Wasn't a great night last night. Did a lot of ripping and seems that somehow I need to get a new set of cutting mat, ruler, blade.. Precision cutting is the key to great piecing :(
Help Maid M!!!

Laura, I can safely give you a hug. When your body's not feeling great like that, it kinda shift your happy moments. Drink lots of liquids and stay away from spicy foods.
Kel says it will be later to try Ethiopian. As for Middle Eastern, if it's Egyptian, you should try Imam Biyaldi. There's also Lebanese food, famous for its' dolmas and lamb kebabs.

Bonnie, you're a great neighbour. Think Randall qualified for a 100 yd. sprint? No more excitement for you both today that involves hospitals.

Cindy, he's just assessing you on the first date. He must be happy with what he sees to want another date! Some men aren't too responsive...you get to draw it out of them.
I know you'll have fun camping with Steve. Now, how are you going to juggle both men?
(Shut up Jaye.. let Cindy have her fun!!)

Hey Susan!!! Huggggs for you this morning and lots of LOL @ the office!!!
Weiners and beans are good! We had bacon sandwiches with home grown tomatoes last night. BTW try adding weiners to instant noodles, even in the Mahatma rice ;) Yummy!!

Donna.. you truly exudes positive energy. No matter how bad your situation is, somehow you know something good will balance it out. Look at the plants you got. Already sold one!! Lord's taking care of you, cause you take good care of your family ;)

Tomorrow's the day Cookie! Got your walking shoes ready? How many are there in Jordan's Jammers?
Hope the weather's perfect for a great walk for a great cause!

Poor you Judy! Let's hope the trial won't stretch for days!!! Knowing you, you'd shift the facts from fiction and stick to the facts only.
Hmm.. you'd be hearing "Promise to tell the truth..." swearings by the witnesses!! TV comes to life for you!!

LK, how are you today? Doing anything special? How's your youngest son's show?

Waving to all including the ones lurking ;) Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, Jaye I'm thinking the same thing. Steve lives in Sac, 40 miles away, Dave here in Auburn somewhere. I just have to be careful when I go to call them by name. I just hope they both don't decide to come watch me bowl on a Tuesday night YIKES!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Morning, not been up to my usual self these past few days but it is passing. Nothing serious--just something I deal with every now and then-especially this time of year. So best to hide in my little corner and lurk sometimes.

Yikes, Jaye, I know that feeling all to well. Had to replace my cutting mat when I moved here--someone didn't leave mine flat and well you know what happens when they are just thrown over something and get hot!! Yeap, cracked all to pieces. The new one seems to have a rough spot I am having trouble getting out and it actually knicks my blades. I will solve it yet.

Oh, sorry thanks for breakfast Donna. Coffee was wonderful--sure needed it this morning.

Lovely cool morning and of all things I have errands to run!!! Oh well atleast I am capable of running them so not complaining.

BTW sewers, quilters check out the new thread started regarding tips and techniques! This sound be wonderful as we all are never to old to learn something new.

Waving to all as I run off to get dressed to go to the "big city".

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone! Cindy, glad to hear you like the margarita, they are so good at Applebees! Hope your fishing trip, goes better than your first date.
Trisha, sorry to hear you are sick, just a lot of crud going around, but best you go tot he Dr. and make sure it is not strep throat.
Donna, red males are very pretty, glad to hear you have one sold already.
Well, I went to San Antonio, because it was my sons Birthday, and he was scheduled to go to this little bar, and to a suspension show. We got all of his stuff packed, and when we got there, the guy told us, he changed his mind, the bar was too small, and no place for what he wanted to do. Andy was all bummed out, but I took them all to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, and it turned out to be a very nice night. I got up at 7:00 this morning, and drove back home!
Time for me to get some laundry done, so I can enjoy the week-end.
Hope you all have a great week-end too!

Morning all - still waiting to eat, puttering about here. so far have only read through to my last post. sorry if I'm missin folks. the 2009 Tempo Two catalogue is here, may never put it down! LOL

Judy, am filled with envy - I NEVER get picked.

Cindy, I don't know. a guy mets you at a bar, doesn't pop for dinner, doesn't hardly talk, now wants you to go with him to a remote fishing location? hmmmmm, and there's NO chemistry going there, no positive vibe from him? I'd say, NO. not yet.

although Randall, when we finally met, was very very quiet. But you could really tell he was shy and trying, plus all the vibes were positive, just he was incredibly bashful. and he sprang for dinner. nor did he try to touch me. I just don't have a great feeling about this Dave fella.

as for multiple fellas. well. my momma didn't raise a fool. She gave me the ground rules...she's the lady that went on a skating date with one fella in the afternoon, then to dinner and skating in the evening with the fella that bought her the skates and had to get an afternoon job to pay for them! her good word was "be safe, have all the fun you can, and save thinking about only one for after you've dated many."

ya know, our grandmothers knew a thing or two, and were smart enough to have "ground rules" about courting and dating and saving sex for later. the fellas had to work to win us. having to work for it got rid of a lot of jerks! my "free love" generation didn't do anyone any favors with that attitude.

Raleigh, NC

LK - Texas Roadhouse - YUM!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You're a good Mama LK. So supportive and when things don't somehow go right, you still make sure the day will have a good ending ;)

Hey Maid M. You're so right. I went the cheaper route with the cutting mats, but they nicked the blades faster!! Then the acrylic rulers are of a different brand.. so this is truly a no-no. I knew that, but still thought that if I cut 'outside' the line of the marked mats, I'll be fine. But then, the markings are a tad thicker than the ruler... :( Follow my drift?
So they're gone before I make more unnecessary mistakes.
Why does this hobby got to be so expensive now, especially when WM quit stocking the 'right' brands :(

Think I'll start on the kitchen towels. Those don't need to be cut.

Looks like our Cindy will have to tell a white lie now and then... ROFL!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, curious what brand of rulers do you like? Checking out the sewing/quilting thread--Qwilter has started a new thread that should be wonderful.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maid M., thanks..did go to Jean's thread.
My rulers are different brands. Olfa, Creative Grids, June Tailor....
Cutting mat is Tailor. :( That certainly plays havoc to the blades.

I think I'll just stick to ONE brand... any suggestion?

Raleigh, NC

Jaye, do you do it all with rulers and measuring? way I learned to quilt, we always made templates first, of firm cardboard.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

30 years ago, I'll be making my own templates, either with hard cardboard or hard plastic for patchwork quilting.

It's easier now with the rulers they have, Bonnie. You can stack your materials and cut away :D

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Kel just solved the problem.
He's 'financing' my quilting equipment. So back to using Olfa cutting mats and Olfa measuring implements.... and of course Olfa rotary cutters.

Raleigh, NC

learned something!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I've even had templates made of plywood!!!!! Now that's ancient!

Kinda sad, that when you enjoy something so much, you gotta pay!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I agree with the hobby being pricey! But we have to have fun doing something right, and it is not harmful to our bodies, like drinking or drugs? Just harmful to the wallet! Glad to hear that Kel is going to finance it all for you!
I have ben called in for jury selcetion, but have never been selected! Judy, I hope it goes quick for you.

Picture below will make some of you a little sick to your tummy, but this is part of Andy's supension show! He places hooks in someones skin, usually his, and then swings around! He swears it does not hurt, but by the look on his face, I have to wonder?

Thumbnail by taters55
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, it's mind over matter.
Back in Singapore, there's an Indian religous ceremony where ever year some devout Hindus will pierce their skin, tongues.. abdomens to worship Krishna.
As a kid, I would just be amazed at these brave men and women. Haven't seen any bleeding. They're deep into controlling their minds not to feel the pain.

The co-op for Atlas Gloves has just opened. Go get these good gardening gloves ladies!

Raleigh, NC

ohhhhh gloves......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1044040/
The link to the co-op.

LK, I was called in once for jury selection. Both defense and prosecutor had a tough time as the case was quite notorious.
Many gave excuses NOT to be selected, much to the judge's disfavor.
When my name was called out. I told them I had no problem with time nor distance.. willing to participate.
There were happy faces, until I told the judge that I wasn't a citizen then.
If the judge could have sworn me in he would, that day!!
Now that I am, I had never been called!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL, well trying having the defense attorney as your next door neighbor! That gets you off faster than fast! Probably a good thing as we didn't have much respect for him nor his wife. Long story and not telling.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oops, sorry Jaye, I prefer the Olfa mats way above the others. I have never had a problem other than the one not being stored flat but then what do guys know about quilting supplies. Well maybe Kel does and Ross certainly did but not the ones who moved me.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I learnt the hard way, Maid M.

Back to Olfa definitely. Will not throw the old tools away. Will use them for non-quilting projects.

Raleigh, NC

Jaye, I'd be willing to bet $$ that you're name is still tagged in their database as "not citizen." If you want to serve, you might send them a letter, especially if you haven't moved since you became one.

Forgot to add "thanks" for all your nice comments. We didn't actually do anything, just were there, talked. Maye called to thank Randall for telling her what had happened (Don wasn't going to) and me for helping. Randall said just now that before I got over there, Maye was very panicky, but me calmly stepping into the 'blood zone" and "taking charge" calmed everyone down. head wounds bleed a lot. But he wasn't going to the doc....he got 4 stitches and a tetanus.

why are men like that? around the house, something's broke, ya fix it, no question. but not their own body. they don't like doctors or dentists, most won't go. they don't want to acknowledge they're hurt. like that silly commercial on now, "I'm good."

LK - Im going to have nightmares on that photo, though. Yuck!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Served on jury duty a lot. When I was much younger I used to enjoy serving. One case I got on was a murder case, I wouldn't want to do that again. One gal was in tears afterward it was so stressful on her.

I HOPE I don't have nightmares on that photo. I could feel the pain even though he said it wasn't painful.

What a neat guy to finance your quilting passion, Jaye. Got to hold on to him forever and ever. My sister In Minnesota quilts but I've never asked her about her equipment. I do know she has a quilting frame and I do own a couple of her quilts.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Jaye, spicy foods actually help a bit; clears out the sinuses. I think the sore throat is caused by the stuffed up nose.

Then there is the other issue, do you really want to be tried by people who are unable to get out of jury duty, because it seems like that’s all that people talk about in respect to jury duty, how to get out of it. Why does the court always seem to call up those who don’t want to be there and never call us that would jump at the chance?

Linda Kay, you have to have money or insurance to go to the doctor, but I’ve had strep several times and it’s not strep.

Yeah, I’m generally pretty open to whatever, but hanging yourself by piercings gives me the willies.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Bonnie, you have a point there. I may have to call the courthouse and ask them.

Pegi, if your sister owns a quilting frame, then she must hand quilt then? That's one disappearing art with the convenience of long arm machines.
And, I'm still squeamish at the sight of blood. Don't know how I'll do in a murder case.
But one thing for sure, Laura's right. How can a juror be objective when he's forced into serving.

Trisha, hope you don't have what Laura and Sean have.

We're surrounded by golden rods and Kel who's not prone to allergies is now popping Benadryl! How could anything so beautiful be bad for your health!!

Good night ladies.. off to bed.. cya in the morning.
