IT'S JUST THE GYSPY IN MY SOUL

(Zone 5b)

Smiley I think I have buttered popcorn.....just got them a month or so ago, only 1 bloomed this year.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

dislike for the orange lillies? the one's I think they call ditch lillies? I like them.

Moon is right, daylillies are easy. I bought a 1/2 dead one at HD a few years ago. I've divided it twice so far. Stella D'Oro, the common one you see everywhere.I never knew there were so many till I went on the daylily forum. That's actually how I found DG, looking for pics of the daylillies she bought me.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Just my luck Moon.. visit was nice! she ate 3 meatballs and a pile of spaghetti. we watched "funny girl" on TCM. ate cake.

Have a good night! I'm outta here pretty soon too.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

i don't know what the ones I don't like are called I. they are orange have funny looking petals that look like claws when they curl up and there's multiple blooms at the top...yuck I've seen them orange, orange with brown spots, yellow, and yellow with brownspots.....they could make them in my favorite shade of purple and I still wouldn't like that particular kind

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Lynnie, nice to see you've recuperated. I'm interested to see what these daylillies do next year. Of course, that's how it is with anything outside. I think we got Moon's rain. It's pouring outside, has been on & off all day.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

same here Julie only it's chilly

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Trina, when we moved in this house the entire back yard was filled with them. DH thought he dug them all out, but a patch grew in the corner. I put rocks around it so they couldn't spread, now I like them. He dug some out & put them in a pot, it actually looked pretty striking by themselves.

But hey, that's how I feel about impatiens.

Gotta go, talk to you tomorrow!

edited to say I feel about impatiens the way you feel about ditch lillies.

g'night Trina!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Lynn, are you the only one here? What is this thing about the straw?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Lynn, I am getting really sleepy. I will find out more about this straw thing tomorrow.

You have a good evening.

'Night and have a sweet sleep.

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Nice picture of your car radio Moon All have a restful night!

(Zone 5b)

sorry...still chasing kids lol...I read somewhere that you shouldn't use mulch on irises, you should use straw. I usually get some straw for decorating for halloween at this time of year, anyway, and I noticed all the road crews using it everywhere, so I wondered how good it is, maybe I should use it. I was thinking about my knockout roses, too, although those seem pretty hardy and they're still blooming like crazy. I planted a lot of shrubs htis year, I want to see them in the spring lol

dave that looks like a nice place to sit for awhile!
morning everybody! Smiley are you sleeping in?
jj how much damage did you do at those flea markets?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

sleep in? I guess I did, didn't I?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

maybe that's why I got yucky iris borers this year, I had mulch on them. I put mulch everywhere, though.

(Zone 5b)

most likely....
it's RAINING finally after weeks without rain...i thought I'd have to run around with the hose all day today.
(please excuse typos & lack of punctuation & no caps....on laptop half the keys are sticky)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

SmileyJ, just keep the mulch a couple inches back from the crown and your irises should be okay. The borers love it when they can hide in the mulch. The problem here was too much rain coming down too fast..washed the mulch up around the crown and kept it too wet, so the bearded irises started to rot....yuk.

Good morning Lynnie...feeling any better today? hope so.

Hiya Dave....WaterFall.....May This Be Love??? One of my favorite quotes. Grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Morning everybody I'll be in and out all day

Dave Beautiful pictures and lovely words,

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

The lyrics are so beautiful, I hope you don't mind if I add the whole thing here.
May This Be Love

Waterfall
Nothing can harm me at all
My worries seem so very small
With my waterfall
I can see
My rainbow calling me
Through the misty breeze
Of my waterfall
Some people say
Day-dreamings for all the, huh,
Lazy minded fools
With nothin else to do
So let them laugh, laugh at me
So just as long as I have you
To see me through
I have nothing to lose
long as I have you
Waterfall
Dont ever change your ways
Fall with me for a million days
Oh, my waterfall

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Cool Venice. Few are familiar with Hendrix's "gentler" side....

How are ya today? The sun is shining outside today...maybe no rain today. If this holds for a couple days may get the grass cut...grin. Been outside treating Fire ant beds....they move into the flower beds seeking higher ground from the rain. Then, I stick my hand in one cuz they hid under the mulch...evil creatures.....

Off to kill more ants....makes me think of the Pink Panther song...

Dead ant, dead ant , dead ant, dead aaaa-nnnnnt! lol

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

LOL Moon...I got on and had 5 dmails this am...that's a record for me..but I will be getting some nice trades out of the deal! oh I can't wait it's like christmas!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Good Morning Again! Trina, I took a look at my lilacs. They both look... let's say... not nice. Don't want to send you a crappy plant.

Moon, I ended up digging up my irises and soaking in bleachy water, etc... and put them in a nice big pot for now. Ba-ad case of iris borers. Just yucky!
