my goodness - I'm first?
This Is A First for me lol

Jacksonville, FL

Jaye! Guess I am first!! I gotta know which brug that one is--it is gorgeous! I do not have the chance to pop in much with my work schedule being out 60+ hrs a week but I try to lurk and follow the threads as I can. I am not complaining tho. I love my job and am fortunate to have found one at my old age.

Prayers to all in need. Just keep the Faith in the good Lord. He does answer prayers.

Donna--Hope all is going well with you, Max, Tony and Tristen as well as Max's twin's. Will give you a call first chance I get.

I will try to stop in more often as I can

Good night everyone.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Everyone has gone to bed, but had to tell you about the gardening class we went to tonight. Got a call this morning to remind me, sure glad she did because I wouldn't have remembered. It was put on by the water company, showing us how to use native Ca. plants that are drought resistent. Had a full house too, was surprised. Got us goodies, like a water timer which I need for the new drip system out in back, note pads, pens, gardening gloves, etc. Even a nice tote bag to carry groceries in. Had some raffles, a few plants were brought in to raffle off and was happy when they called DH number. He let me pick out the plant I wanted, it is a epilobium canum or California Fuschia (Hummingbird trumpet). I was so thrilled with it and called my number and I got a spray nozzzle for hose and a cute rubber duckie ready to work in the garden. Wow, we never win anything. Now I am almost ready to go to the Ca. mini RU out in Rancho Cacamonga to meet a lot of DH gardeners and share potluck with them.

Well, I guess I'm off to bed and dream about where I'm going to plant my fuschia. Attracts hummers, bees, butterflies and even birds.

Morning Ladies

I have coffee on and waitng if anyone wants some..

Linda (mistress) great to see you post.. Have a new phone number but will call you tonight after work..

Pegi it sounds like you had a great time and nothing is better than a class on natives. Im planting alot of those myself..

Prayers and Bear Huggs to all in need..

Well we spent the day working outside all day yesterday again.. Was great to have a day off work and cant wait until we get a camera to take pictures and show you all what we have been up to.. Max cut down 3 trash trees and I cleaned out the flower beds of weeds and trimmed up some seriously ovrgrown asters for the kitchen table basket vase.. Anyone know if you can root cuttings from asters? The front is looking soo much better now that its cleaned back up..

I will try to check in at lunch today after I get back to the house. Tonys dad has reurfaced after 12 years and Child support finally got the dna done on him so I have court this afternoon. I dont know if he will be attending as he is in a transitional housing place for a few months.. Ugghh I really dont want to see him after all these years but he is asking to be a art of Tonys life and we are allowing Tony that descision.. He has written a few letters back and forth (which I read before Tony gets them) and says he wants to see Tony sometime so Im going in to find out whats what through court today at 1030..

Tristen got her first 2nd grade reportcard last night.. She got straight A's.. Im so proud of her and she hasnt missed a day of school at least not yet..

My mom is comming in 15 days.. Whoo hooo Cant wait to see her.. Shes flying in on the 10th and staying for a week or until she say shes had enough fun.. lol The kids are excited too they really miss their me-maw.. Just hoping Bella doesnt knock her over when she gets here..

Well better get ready for work..
Huggs to all

Donna - thanks for the coffee. I need it this morning.
Jaye - I hope you are taking those meds!!
LK - the video was fun. I might give it a try!!
Marion - How is your Mom doing? Is she able to get around okay? She didn't have her knees done, did she??
Got to go plan an apron.. Later. Barb

Jacksonville, FL

Just a quick "pop-in" to say Good morning and thanks for the breakfast Donna! I don't get home til after 6 so wait til about 7 to call.

Jaye--Hope you are doing better and taking your meds.

Samigal--keep watching for the new pics at Lori's. I am anxious to get that fountain statue in and have Lori paint it. She may let me help (hopefully--so I can get some better knowledge and pick her brain!) We are pouring the foundation this weekend.

HAGD ALL!

Linda

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Yo..good morning.

Cool and rainy so I can at least get a day off today. My brain needs a serious vacation.

Please feel better Jaye.

Trying to get ready for vacation next week. I swear it is more trouble than it is worth sometimes. But on the other hand if I don't get away from here I get no rest at all because I keep seeing things that "need" to be done. Sometimes this OCD thing really bites. :0)

Later girls,
Juanita

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

g'morning all - quick pop-in.......

Jaye, m'dear!! You're still not feeling well? This is dragging on far too long, girl!!
((((((((((((((Jaye))))))))))))))) gentle hugs to you ^_^

Well, working 1/2 day so I can go home & finish packing for tenting/camping this w/e. Going back to Waterton and can hardly wait. The park's last w/e is this one, then they close for the year - reopen May long w/e.

Ciao & have a good w/e everyone - cya on Monday ^_^

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Pass the coffee please, having a hard time getting my body to function today. Well we had our usual downpour last night but the sun is out this morning. 92 predicted--to warm.

Barb, no my Mom didn't have the knee surgery--her cardiologist would agree to the surgery so she is slowly resigning herself to using a walker and when we take her out--a wheelchair. Right now we have something else going on so the knee is a mute point. She had a skin cancer removed at the corner of an eye and it was malignant and she has to go for surgery the 8th of October. The scary part is it is right at the corner of the eye and eyebrow. She is going to a specialist on this type surgery (locale) so I am trying to get caught up so I can go down for a few days. Say a prayer please.

Had a wonderful luncheon with my garden club circle, laughed and over all so glad I went. As if I could stay home being one of the hostess. On Wednesday night the "former 6 minus 1" went out for dinner to celebrate 3 of our birthdays. I laughed until I hurt. It is always good to go with the group as they accept me as the single woman (but then they are our closest friends) and never make me feel like "odd man out". Had chicken gorgonzola pasta--wow!!

Well I have things to get done today so I will check back later.

Jaye, please, please take care of yourself or I am coming and doing it for you!!!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh Marion - you know my prayers will be with you and your Mom and sister. I will say very special prayers for Mom. Maybe the no knee surgery is a good thing in a way. It will slow her down a bit so she can be rested and ready for this other surgery. He works in mysterious ways and it could be His way of looking out for Mom. I miss your posts but I'm glad your days are full... Hugs, Barb

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Woaaaaaa.. are my eyes seeing right? Linda's posting! Must be she has more time to spend indoors now! Glad to see you Linda. That brug happens to be a triple "Dream Angel".

Pegi, another way to help your plants against the drought, is to use 'grey water'. With that California Fuschia, you'll be on your way to a xeriscape garden.
Fill us in will you on what fun you'll have at the mini RU.

Good luck at court, Donna. Whatever had happened in the past, it's the present that matters. It will just boost Tony's confidence his dad wants a relationship with him while Max loves him as though he's flesh and blood.
And no, I know nothing of asters!

Marion, Kel will do another special for you and your mum.
And why must you feel like the odd one out, Maid M?????? You're one personality that everyone who knows you, LOVES to be in your company!
Sistah Judy.... Deborah... confirm this... in fact Cookie.. BJ (if she lurks)... Janice.. tell her she's talking nonsense.
No one looks at you in a strange manner and real friends should act towards you, with or without Ross, with love and respect.
You're still the same MARION, maybe just a tad wiser :D
Rather you come down to have some fun and not take care of me!!! Am being good here, taking the antibiotics and last night, I broke fever twice!! Yikes, and it's not menopause neither!!!!

Take that vacation, Juanita. It's good for your mind and body to be away from everyday routine.

Susan, have fun!!!! Don't invite strange bears!!

Barb, I'm amazed at your discipline. I have no excuses not to try to complete my swaps... somehow, there are always little fires that distract me. You're amazing!
So true He works in mysterious ways, and I always thank Him for unanswered prayers too ^_^ Only He knows what is good for us.

Oh sweet LK. You'll be off shopping tomorrow and enjoying your grandaughter. Bet you got what she wants for her b'day. Be safe on the road.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah's Ark .
One : Don't miss the boat.
Two : Remember that we are all in the same boat.
Three : Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
Four : Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
Five : Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
Six : Build your future on high ground.
Seven : For safety sake, travel in pairs.
Eight : Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
Nine : When you're stressed, float a while.
Ten : Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
Eleven: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

Very cute Jaye!! I love that one.

So... float a while, Juanita.. just don't float away!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning Ladies! My coffee is not working and I don't know what to do about it, so I'm going to go look at the classifieds for open houses this weekend, and maybe some garage sales too!

See ya'll later!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks Jaye, that is so cute. Great rules to "try" and live by.

DH goes in for a bone scan this morning then I have to get some grocery shopping done for the salad I'm bringing to the mini RU. Got to make sure the camera is charged up and ready to go. It is going to be hot day, predict 97, but I'm sure we are going to have a lot of fun.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh thank you Jaye and Kel!! Only referred to it as "odd man out" as there truly is a stigma with widows!! Never would happen with the group I was with Wednesday evening--they even posted a "toast" to Ross as it was the 5th anniversary but somehow it wasn't sad--it was right!!

Jaye, my dear, I wanted to post a while back about you taking the animals meds. Well don't worry my sister did the same thing and she seems to be okay. Only has the urge to use the litterbox every now and then.

Barb, I wish I was only half as organized as you are!!! I wouldn't be in the mess I am at times. Hard to believe at point in my life I really was. Hummm, wonder if age has anything to do with it? Won't go there. LOL

Juanita, enjoy that vacation. Then when you return you will need another one to recover from this one.

Back to the grind.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Afternoon everyone

Barb what kinda apron are you making?

Linda (mistress) will call you after 7 I dont get off until 530 anyway and by the time dinner is done its 7 anyay.. Huggs missing your visits

Susan have fun on your camping trip .. Love to camp!

Marion sending a prayer your way.. So glad your luncheon went well I always enjoy spending time with my gardening buddies.

Jaye love the ark.. too cute..

Well as for court it went okay.. Tonys dad wasnt there which was good with me since I havent seen him in 12 years.. They are going forwrad with another hearing for support and hopefully he will be able to attend that one.. Sadly he made some poor descisions and is in prison but was supposed to be released to a transitional housing on the 15th but accordin to them today he hasnt left the institution yet. We have been writing back and forth and he seems to have changed quite a bit from what I remember (of course I was in high school at oour last meeting). I told him though everything Im leaving up to Tony as he is old enough to make his own descisions. Also told him one screw up and I will put a stop to it all. Max and I wont have anyne hurting Tony emotionally or physically hes been through enough in his lifetime..

On the upside we also spoke with them about the twins and Maxs situation with his ex telling the girls he isnt there dad. They said we will have to hire an attorny and get the testing done on our own. They also gave us a free clinic we can attend and get help with the cost hopefully.. I think we are gonna call up the ex and see if we can get her to buy a home test before we go to an attorney.. Just telling her we are should do the trick then if the test come back Max is dad no attorney needed for testing only for visitation but if it comes back the other way Max can have the support order canceled out..

Better get my lunch and get back to work..
Huggs

Donna the apron is for the Christmas Apron Swap on the sewing forum. I guess it's early for one but I like having plenty of time. I don't want to rush it. My swap partner deserves the best I can do...

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Donna - good to hear he wasn't at court - you didn't want to see him anyway lol

Well, gonna get some work done, quickly...... my boss gave me the aft off to prep for camping. Plus he said I've worked alot of extra hours, so deserve it ^_^ he's a lovely man to work for!!

Hello Ladies,

Back from my girlfriends. Had a great time visiting and enjoying cocktails. BUT............her two grandchildren are HOLY TERRORS!!! OMG!!! They throw fits and hit her when they don't get their way, but then gramma , grampa and daddy don't do anything but holler at them. So go figure. And she wants me to baby sit fo 8-9 days while they go to Hawaii. YIKES!!! I'll be a basket case by the time they get back.

I did get a surprise last night Steve came up to my friends last night. I was totally shocked and happy too. He is quite a talker, lol. He asked me if I wanted to go with him and his family to a Cowboy Poetry campout in Nov. Have no clue what it's all about but will be fun to see. We are going to go camping next weekend. So things are starting to really heat up between us. I do have a date with Dave next week to meet and see how we click.

Hope ya all have a great weekend.

Raleigh, NC

Well, it's Friday. the usual bad news on Friday letter from the IRS has arrived....

y'all will just love this.

the last IRS letter received stated I was not going to be held liable for their "reparation" demand from the defunct company. I was given credit for almost $600 in taxes paid toward that original reparation demand - but they were not going to refund, but would credit me with that, applied to other taxes due.

I thought they meant the taxes they are demanding from DH.

Guess what they meant?

They want the nearly $41,000 in interest due from their original reparation demand, which they now say I don't owe.

Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes! It doesn’t seem like three years, I’m not sure if it was yesterday or a lifetime ago, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t three years :o)

Jacksonville, FL

Please keep me in your prayers everyone.! I received a phone call today telling me that my oldest son Michael (42) who is in Massachusetts had committed suicide last nite! I am totally devastated! Have been on the phone with other family members up there to find out what they know. Michael's girlfriend has talked with my son Bobby down here and we are all trying to absorb this tragedy and come to grips with it. I am at a total loss and cannot function well right now. Just sitting here waiting on phone calls and trying to keep a sense of sanity for myself. How does one deal with this and come to terms with something of this enormity.

Donna- I will look forward to your call. Wish you were here so I could cry on your shoulder!

Please tell your children everyday how much you love them no matter how old they are.

I am now at a loss of words so will talk later.

Linda

Raleigh, NC
