It's Fall in New England, starting today........

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Here on the Cape we haven't seen a whole lot of leaf-color yet. But the Fall berries are almost all ready!

Very pretty CCG! This is a nice time of year on the Cape--(as long as the storms stay away)

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Very true, Phoebe--and a storm is due in tomorrow!
I shamefacedly admit that I like Burning Bush, even though I know it's the Bad Boy of bushes and shouldn't be planted anywhere near woodlands. I inherited a few on my property when we moved here, and as a former "seasonally deprived" Californian, I am thrilled each Fall by the brilliant crimson display. And who says it doesn't produce anything useful. Just take a look! . . . oh wait a minute; that's a little (slightly mildewed) pumpkin vine escapee from my garden! LOL

My JM is starting to turn, not much else is. The feilds behind the barn where I board the horse are golden(soybeans).

iris those tulip poplars get HUGE.

South Hamilton, MA

Yep, at least 100 ft. We had 5 90ft ones along the highway when we lived in CT. The one DH planted here about knee high would be at least 70ft. tall now except the top was blown off one yr. Still a good try however. One of its kids grew al,ong the back fence & it is the source of the new tinies. The second one isn't in bloom yet, but the one near the house does (at the end of our septic system, good fertilizer). the orieoles love the seed pods; we love them & the flowers. Orieols all over the CT. set.

Yaay, fall is here. It's my favorite season and I get more energy this time of year. I'm starting to see some color change, and am getting excited about heading back to Vermont and NewHampshire the first of Oct.
Nice pics of the changing colors! Keep em coming.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

As kids we marveled at the ones in CT. We couldn't even reach our arms around them. I have vivid memories of them.

Son suggested today that it be cut down, as it has grown over the roof, but I'm thinking "not yet".

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Can you cable it RD? That way you could have your luvly tree and still be safe.

Thomaston, CT

Wel, Dnut, it seems healthy to me---son, being a landscape architect, looks at size & gets snotty---kids! The tree keeps this house very cool in summer, & the birds love it---I may call in an outfit to trim it.

Another good sign it's fall at my house would be me and baking. Today it was damp amd raw, my solution?
Picked all the peppers(tired of covering them every night anyways) and made a dozen baked stuffed green peppers.
Made a dozen cranberry-orange nut muffins, a loaf of bread and a big pot of beef stew. Never got to the bownies as i'm out of eggs..... I suppose I could go raid the neighbors hen house.^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Tomorrow im going to my brothers house in Turner for the day. I'm bringing the roasted herb chicken, sausage N' sage stuffing, one of the squash from the garden. Either the butternut or buttercup and a blackberry cheese cake for desert. My brother has to do the mashed tato's, cranberry, diner rolls or bread of his chioce ect...
It's supposed to pour all day so thought we'd play Dominos while the meal was cooking. ^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Bill this is Brian shortly after work one day with my dog Bandit. He was still thin then. lol
Notice the glow and pink cheeks? He's not much of a drinker and had a few with an old friend that night. I snapped the picture as he was having an in-depth conversation with Bandit.

Looks like he's not sharing the cookies with Bandit - or anyone!
