Becky, your Mauve Splash is wonderful, it would be a real " looker " in my collection 2010 !

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, Missed your blooms. Love the Blue Gray and Setosa.
The Lindeheimer is really special

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

The setosa vine is over 17 ft long when hubby and I measured.. across the top of the north full sun fence, both sides of backyards getting quite the show.. and the seed pods are fabulous!
Mauve Splash is now on my want list ..LOL

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

Mona, all lovely blooms. Love the dark pink purpurea

Helena, Pink Mist is very pretty. It's a small glory?

Dirty girl, being in Fl, would think you would get tons of blooms.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

One more bloom on the Mutant from Sarah. Even though I didn't get
the desired bloom, it's hiding in there somewhere.
Will plant all or almost all of my sds of this one to try again next yr.
Edited to say I just noticed this one has 8 bars.

I am giggling with glee here ...

This thread was started on Sunday and already it now has 100 posts! :-) That's pretty remarkable! Thanks to everyone for jumping in here with all your beautiful photos, your interesting comments, and shared information. It's a joy to read the posts and see all the wonderful photos! Thanks to everyone! :-)

Jackie - Thanks for the appreciation of my Fuji no Sora's. They were a nice surprise! ;-)

Elsa, Dany, Debra, and those who liked the Mauve Splash - It is producing seed pods, so I hope to have plenty of seeds to share. :-)

Debra - Setosa was one of the first species MGs I grew and I still really adore that vine! It is the coolest vine because of the soft "thorns"! Nothing else like it in the MG world! :-)

Dirtygirl71 - Sweet little vine and bloom on yours! You should join our MG seed swap for 2010. :-)

Helena - Love that afternoon pink that your blue-purple tie dye changed to! :-) Nice photo of Pink Mist!

Mona - Awesome photos! Wow! Your vines are really nice and green and blooming up a storm! :-)

Jackie - I am telling ya ... that Diluted Fuji no Muraski vine IS GOING to produce some of the diluted blooms! You just wait! It's getting ready to wow you! Your Wedding Bells would sure make a fine start to a new thread! Go for it, girl! :-)

before you start a new thread I found this at lunch when I was looking for cherry tomatoes..

I am still waiting on wedding Bells to bloom, Purple Blizzard still taking the stage there.. Found some struggling JMGS under the PINK I. Purp curtain, what was I thinking? I ripped out the I. Purpls to make room, we still have a few weeks of growing time here.. I found this little one ( 2 inches max) by the new blue rayed one..

This is in the bean patch growout spot,, tag there says I. Indica.. but there are there seeds there,, does this look like i. indica?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, does your bloom have the soft spines Becky mentioned?
Indica does have soft spines. I love the little 2 inch pink bloom.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Setosa is covered in soft furry spines, lavender moonvine has thick rose like thorns that are kinda stiff but not stickery, here is a setosa vine up close

Here is the lavender moonvine

great photos everyone...
i didn't get a setosa to sprout this year but i did get an I sepacutiensis going and it has lots of soft spines... no flowers but the leaves and spines are interesting...

Thumbnail by ceej1963

here's the leaves... i have a few seeds left of this one if anyone wants to try it next year... the seeds are large, as big as a Stictocardia, so i think the plant will be huge eventually.....

Thumbnail by ceej1963

two purple flaked higes still open from yesterday... i love how the colour changes....

Pretty blooms everyone!
I'd like to try Setosa for next year since I don't have that one.

Mutant looks like a big bloom Jackie. Pink Mist is at least 2", it probably could be larger since it's from Lav. Mist. This 2nd grow out of mine is producing smaller blooms then when I had in spring & summer. The soil barely gets to dry out, we've had so much rain.

I like your pretty hige Colin.

This is a purple velvet, the bloom was a lot larger last year.

Another chocolate or rose silk, that's all for today. Still getting blooms that are not picture perfect.

Ceej, I would love to try your species seeds.. they like the kansas hot sun, I think.. I love those Higes.. my shibouris are purple and white now, but they will turn blue and white when it warms up.. didn't even know they existed until DG..

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Becky, thank you for the seeds. The trials I have had all summer resulted in few blooms. The woodchuck was clearly the winner. Picture shows chomped plants.
