Morning Glories 2009 #16

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

Thanks Patootie! Just what I wanted to hear! It was a rather late planting in early July, just hope our weather
holds up.

Jon

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Jon, it was early July when I planted the Wedding Bells too.
The weather so cool here, I might not get seeds.
I grew Heavenly Blue in 06 but started it much earlier.
Will you have time there to harvest seeds before cold weather
on your Pearly Gates?

Jackie

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Becky. Becky I got Hannah from Karen gardener2005.

Pretty bloom Jackie, I think I have JL too, waiting for it bloom. I have 1 vine of wedding bells that isn't doing anything, we've had too much rain here.

Here's my cuttings blooming.

Hi Jackie, The weather is still quite warm here now and should hold reasonable temps thru November, first
frost usualy January but only down to 28f or so.I will grow heavenly blue next year + lots of others!

Jackie - Is your Jamie Lynn light blue or white? Pretty blooms! :-)

Dirtygirl71 - I hear ya about the humidity in Florida right now. Ugh ...

Jon - Those are buds forming! Any time I've grown tri-colors, they were late bloomers, but oh! were they ever worth the wait because of the show they put on once they do start blooming! Can't wait to see your bloom photos! :-) Your weather sounds very much like Florida weather. I wonder if we are the same distance from the equator?

Helena - What are your cuttings? Nice lavender blooms! :-)

Tokyo, Japan(Zone 10a)

Becky I'm not too sure about distance from the equator, I will look into it. Japan has a warm ocean current
that runs along the pacific coast and keeps winter temps warmer here.

Thanks Helena and Becky
Becky, I know my J Lynn looks blue but I thought it was white. lol
I'll look more closely at the next few blooms.
Jon you probably won't have any trouble harvesting seeds since you've got a while before cold weather sets in.
Helena, your Lavender cuttings are the cordatotriloba?

lovely pics everyone...
Jakie the Jamie Lynn I got from Emma has a pale but distincly blue background too ... i have some Jamie Lynn types growing on my purple flaked vines and they have a white background...

is it possible to dig a vine up and pot it up... or will that kill it?
i have a i purpura HIGE vine that i grew from MGman seeds that has just started to flower and i want to get some seeds from it as the weather here is getting cold...

pic shows Jamie Lynn Hige from Emma.

Nice blooms Colin and Debra.

Becky my blooming cuttings have to be from mile a minute that grows wild here in town. I'm probably asking for trouble trying to grow it.

Here's a bloom from Emma's chocolate mix vine # 2.

Helena - Nice chocolates and other blooms. This one here is really unusual and very nice: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7091299

Colin - If you dig up your pretty hige purpurea, you need to dig wide. They do best the less you disturb the roots. Good luck transplanting your lovely vine! :-)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I guess i have a couple more weeks to let them be.. my dh says so anyways

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Gorgeous hige Colin. I think the background was blue
on my Jamie Lynn, just hard for me to distinguish the diff.
More nice blooms Helena, the chocolates really pretty.
Pretty Milky Way type Debra. I'm enjoying my first ever Milky Way
too.

Jackie I have good news for you.... Bonnie and I found that spot just fine..

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Jackie - I like your Morning Storm. Nice deep color!!! And Jordin Rose is a pretty one too! Is Milky Way an I. purpurea?

Debra - Hooray!!!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Becky, thank you, I think Milky Way is a purpurea. The seed pods are hanging upside down.
Debra, great news.!!!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Purps, shibouris and milky way with pink , milky way with blue, pinks, blues, purples, the red and white striped she gave me, and I gave her some jmgs while i was up there.. we had a great time and her morning glorys are beautiful..I took this picture of her yard in the am while she was still asleep.. front of the trellis..

Very nice Becky--love your photos!

I didn't have a good MG season....I have one vine that survived our cold summer but that's it. All the others died off and I planted A LOT of seeds....

Congrats on all your lovely blooms :)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Her yard is awsome.. I love going to see her.. worth the drive.. it is good to be able to have someone to hang out with looking at and for plants and talking plants.. here is a new grow out spot on the far nnorth end of my patio.. one of the blues is an i. purp, and a lavender to tourqoise rayed middle, and the small pinkish one is more brownish with spots.. will look at the tags in the am..oh yes, bonnie collects brugs, well, she collects and grows anything, which is why we click..

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Seedsower I read somewhere, that if a seed doesn't pop up , it still might in the next following year.. you will prolly be showing us all kinds next year..
this was on the north fence, under the pink I. Purp.. I can't find the tag.. it is a greyish blue with white tips..

Sandy - Sorry to hear your season was less than stellar. :-( Are you able to grow some indoors this winter in a sunny window? Thanks for inspiring me to try Sazanami after looking at the photo you posted in PlantFles. That photo of yours just blew me away! Do you have seeds left over to grow out?

Also, the daylily seeds you shared with me are nice sized plants now. Many of the seeds germinated and have grown into nice healthy plants. No blooms this year though. Maybe next. ;-) Thanks for those seeds! I really appreciate it! :-)

Debra - WOW! Look at all the blooms you got there, girl! Looks awesome!! What a yard ... or should I say jungle! :-) I love it when my yard is lush with growth from all my plants. The heat here is really taking a toll on many of them. I think they are waiting like I am for some cooler weather. Ask Bonnie what she fertilizes her brugs with, please? I wanna know her secret to so many blooms! LOL!

what is the name of the bloom just above I have that one and lots the tag

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Which posted photo are your inquiring about, scicciarella?

I've gotten a few blooms from my newest batch of seedlings. Always a surprise.

This one is supposed to be Fuji no Sora ... should be a light blue ... apparently a recessive (pink) gene showed up! LOL!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

And I had a second Fuji no Sora vine also germinate. (I planted 2 seeds of everything I was sowing.) This one also bloomed today. It looks more blue like it should be. :-)

These two are Shibori Purple x Chocolate. I love the blizzard showing up in the one bloom/vine. :-) Can't wait to see what future blooms look like on these! :-) These seeds came from Antoinette.

The two Fuji no Sora vines are F1 grow-outs from seeds I collected a couple of years ago. I was inspired by Jackies FNS blooms to grow a couple out this season. :-)

This is a photo of my third F1 Diluted Fuji no Muraski grow-out vine. I am hoping to get some seeds from at least one of these vines. I am determined!!!
